Pages Panel looks distorted

I'm working to apply master pages to a document for page numbers and such, and the pages panel looks distorted and won't load properly.  I have tried starting and restarting the program and computer.  The document works properly on another program in my office, but I really need it to work on mine.  I am running InDesign CS6 8.0.2.
If anyone has any idea of how to fix this please let me know.
Also, how do I move a master page number over a box, creating the background color?  Do I have to apply it in another layer?

This is what it looks like, but sometimes it gets hung up on other words or items.
You cannot drag master pages to pages like you are supposed to be able to.

  • Can "Document Properties" be set to "Pages panel and..." by default?

I would like to have Acrobat Pro 8.1.5 creat ALL new documents with "pages panel and pages" as default so I don't have to waste time setting properties for each new document.
Is there a way to set that value as a default?
    Thanks,

If you are converting from MS Word look at using the hidden print field to insert a PDF Mark command.

  • Pages panel in ver 8 missing

Suddenly my papes panel is missing. Tabs and all.
Win xp pro system. Acrobat ver 8.2.1
I don't find any reference in the tools bars for making the pages panel display or reappear. I looked in preferences and don't find a swithc or option for display....unless I'm missing something.
I went through the repair install routine offered under help menu. No change. My pages panel is gone.
Can someone offer a course of action?

If there is no navigation panel being shown of the left hand side of the Acrobat window, You many need to View> Navigation Panels>Show Navigation Pane.
Then you can right click in the pane and select what you want to show.

  • Renumber Pages in Pages Panel

    Good Morning!
Would any of you Acrobat Gurus know of a automatic way or an action to change the way the pages are numbered in the Pages Panel?
I know you can manually choose "options" > "number pages" and do it that way. Just looking for more of an action or Apple Script to apply to PDFs we receive so that we can automatically renumber them 1 to whatever number of pages they are.
I'm not asking to affect the content of the pages themselves, just the physical number of the pages.
    Thank you in advance.

This is the reason I am here; Bates numbering changes the Header & Footers; don't want anything but same RENUMBER command in 9 as was in 8.
Loved the Portfolio; reason for upgrade but can't renumber the pages. Maybe it would have been okay if Folio had left the already numbered pages as they were, but NOOOOO!
Dumping Acrobat 9 in 7 days if not corrected!!!! Will keep Acrobat 8 instead.

  • Pages Panel

I am learning InDesign CS4. Why don't the documents in my Book Panel show up in my Pages Panel. I am trying to create a book and need to several create chapters. All the tutorials I watch show how to do it in the Pages Panel, so I am a little lost!
    Thanks for your help!

  • Why do photos on ebay, facebook, other web sites look distorted?

When I post photos or browse photos in ebay, facebook, and other sites they look distorted, although they come up fine in Internet Explorer.

If images are missing then check that you aren't blocking images from some domains.
*Check the permissions for the domain in the current tab in "Tools > Page Info > Permissions"
*Check that images are enabled: Tools > Options > Content: [X] Load images automatically
*Check the exceptions in "Tools > Options > Content: Load Images > Exceptions"
*Check the "Tools > Page Info > Media" tab for blocked images (scroll through all the images with the cursor Down key).
If an image in the list is grayed and there is a check-mark in the box "<i>Block Images from...</i>" then remove that mark to unblock the images from that domain.
Make sure that you do not block third-party images, the permissions.default.images pref should be 1.<br />
    See:
There are also extensions (Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) and security software (firewall, anti-virus) that can block images.

  • Missing pages panel

    Please help!
I am working in CS3 InDesign (5.03 updated)and my pages panel is missing. Well missing is not right, it is there but it is empty. All other panels are working OK but pages panel is empty, no master pages, no delete page icon etc.
I have tried deleting InDesign preferences, restarting them, change workspace to default, reseting panels from inside InDesign. Nothing helps, except reinstalling. But after a while problem re appears. My "solution" takes a lot of time and ultimately does not fix the problem.
Anyone has a similar problem and how do you fix it?

Interesting. A better solution to my apparently somewhat related
    unrelated problem is reproduced below:
Courtesy of Martien Jan de Haan
    > I found the solution! You have to clean up the map C:\Users\User
    > Name\AppData\Local\Temp. That's all!
I took that to mean delete all the files in that folder, and it worked
for me (actually my folder structure was a little different, and I moved
the files somewhere else, and then deleted them a week later, when I was
    sure everything was still working).
My problem (not being able to copy and paste text out of Indesign into
other apps) was fixed by loading ID under a new account (but it came
back when I went back to my old account). But I didn't want to take the
time to make a new account look like my existing account, so I used the
    solution above.
So if this comes back, or if you want to try some voodoo to try and make
sure it doesn't come back, try deleting the files in the above temp folder.

  • Bridge CC - Content Panel looks different than Preview

Problem - Images in the Content panel look dull and desaturated. The view of the same image in the Preview Panel, as well as Photoshop CC, looks fine (ie, like I expect from working with these images in CS6). This applies to NEF, JPEG and PSD files. In the attached screenshot, note the distinct lack of red in the skin tones in the Content Panel compared to Preview. Blues look a little dull as well. This is a PSD file. This image is tagged sRGB, verified in the Metadata panel as well as in Photoshop CC.
I have read similar threads here (where all of Bridge was dull and desaturated), but I don't see anything that mentions the two panels in Bridge displaying images differently.
Background - 10 years as a pro photographer, and I know what I'm doing around a Mac and color management. I finally "upgraded" from CS6 to CC when I got my new Mac.
    System -
Retina iMac w/Yosemite. Second monitor - HP LP2475w (Bridge sits on the HP monitor)
Both monitors have profiles generated with an i1 Display and the i1 Profiler application.
Both monitors are using their correct profiles
    Steps Already taken (condensed)
    1. Purge cache (multiple times throughout the process).
    2. Check color cache and cache permissions.
    3. Reinstall Bridge at the behest of Adobe support, even though this was a new install.
    4. Check that "Always high quality" thumbnails is checked in Bridge (this seems to have no effect either way).
    5. Check color settings - NA GP2 in Bridge. Interestingly, the same behavior is exhibited no matter what I select here.
    6. Drag Bridge to the iMac display - everything now looks good. Drag back - now BOTH Content and Preview are desaturated. Will stay like this until Bridge is restarted.
    7. Recalibrate the HP (Bridge) monitor. No change in behavior.
    8. Verify no sidecar xmp for this image, to rule out ACR in the problem.
    9. Open Output module to verify that the content panel looks the same way there (it does).
    10. Investigate ~user/Library/Caches/Adobe/Bridge CC/Cache/ folders. Wow, the preview for this particular image in /1024/xxxx LOOKS CORRECT (like it does in the Preview panel). So Bridge IS generating high quality previews correctly.
    Thoughts -
    1. This seems unlikely to be a monitor profile issue. Bridge itself is displaying the same PSD two different ways. A bad profile would make everything on that monitor look wrong, wouldn't it?
    2. Some of my images sit on an external drive, but the screenshot here is from the internal mac drive, to try and rule that out.
    3. It's not some strange issue with the HP monitor not displaying color evenly across it's surface - if it were, than the screenshot would not show the difference between the panels. I also moved the Bridge window around the display to further verify that color is the same across the whole panel.
    4. Maybe Bridge ignores the profile for the content panel - but in the case of no profile, it assumes sRGB (or does it?) which is exactly what this image is. I have tried this with Adobe RGB images and the same behavior is exhibited.
    5. Previews are being generated correctly, but do not seem to be what is read off disc to display in the Content Panel.
Any thoughts would be appreciated. My gut feeling is that for some reason, Bridge is not showing me the saved high quality preview in the Content panel. But why?

Is your file tagged?  I.e. does it have the proper color profile embedded?
Is your monitor accurately calibrated and profiled?
What are your preferences in Bridge re previews and profiles?

  • Page numbers in page panel don't match current page numbers

    Hi all,
I have been working with InDesign for a decade now and never had this problem.
I created a document in InDesign CS 5.5, very simple and with consecutive pages, no sections etc.
My page numbers show up correctly on my spreads. BUT, for some reason, the numbers that are shown in the page panel, underneath the page icons, are different. The first page is named "11", followed by 12-17, then the numbers jump to 111, 112 etc. I selected all pages and chose "Numbering and Section Options", setting them all to automatic page numbering, but to no avail.
As I said, the actual page number on the page is unaffected. But this bugs me since I am afraid that the document is somehow messed up.
I am using a simple InDesign document, no book file.
Any idea why this would happen?
    Thank you so much!

Thank you - I just found the solution to my problem (after playing around some more), and it turns out to be rather simple. In Numbering & Section Options, the Section Prefix was set to "1" - this field needs to be clear. That's why InDesign would add a 1 to every number.

  • Is there a way to disable drag-and-drop on the pages panel?

Hi, I'm using Indesign CS3 on Windows XP.  My computer is a laptop and the problem I'm having is that when I have the pages panel open, I have sometimes drag-and-dropped pages of a document into a new order without meaning to (the laptop touch pad seems made for these butterfingers-type moves).  The documents that I'm laying out are several hundred pages long, so sometimes I don't notice that I've screwed a few pages up until much later.  If there is any way to just turn this feature off, that would be great.  Due to the arrangement in which I usually work best (on a sofa), I would prefer not to have to attach an actual mouse to the laptop. Thank you for any help.

    Not that I know of.

  • Can you make each page show a different name in the pages panel?

I would like to be able to name each page with a different name so they display in the pages panel (under the page icon) with a different name for each page rather than just 1, 2, 3 etc. eg. page one called 'Matt', page 2 called 'Satin', page 3 'Gloss. Is this possible?
    Thanks

Yes, but it might not work the way you fully intend.
On each page in the "pages" panel, right click and choose 'Numbering & Section Options'.
From the popup, select 'Start Page Numbering At' and add the page number. Eg, Page 1 would be 1, Page 2 would be 2 etc (you need to do this for each page)If you don't want numbers, you can select from their 'Style' dropdown but you must select something
In the 'Section Prefix' box, enter the text you would like displayed - Matt, Satin, Gloss etc
If you want these names to show up in the document as a page number, select 'Include prefix when numbering pages'
The result of this is that each page is now it's own section of the document.

  • Page Thumbnails not displaying in Pages Panel

    Hi all,
Hopefully a quick question...I've searched through the Forum and not spotted a similar issue.
I have a user who is experiencing an unusual issue in InDesign CS6 - Page Thumbnails aren't displaying in the Pages Panel (such that the panel is completely blank - no new page icon etc.), and Swatches aren't displaying in the Swatches Panel (default swatches or new swatches - the panel is completely blank).  I've checked all of the Panel Display options, and have toggled the thumbnail display size up/down, and on/off to no avail.  This problem is also non-document specific, it's happening on all documents either previously saved or freshly created.  I've also tried multiple workspaces and that hasn't helped.
I've also tried binning the preferences  and this hasn't helped...
Any thoughts where to start?  My hunch is possibly plugins not working/missing, but I'm not sure what/where to check.
Any help would be very much appreciated...

I hate to have to bump an old topic, but replacing my prefs doesn't work either. Tried restarting the computer too. Nothing really works and I hate to have to waste time reinstalling when I doubt that would help at this point. (hates windows).

  • No option to Load Master Pages on Pages Panel (Windows)

Hi there.... I'm a longtime user in the Mac platform, but am now doing some smaller projects in a Windows platform. The Load Master Pages is not even listed among the choices when I view the Pages panel using CS6. What doi need to toggle on/off and where is it in order to get this option in the menu list please? Thanks for your help as I'm really at a loss here.

I understood that is where this was being posted, as that was the forum I chose. If not, twas not intentional.

  • I created a 5x7 postcard document in Word with text boxes and graphics.  When I converted it to PDF, some of the items were missing, even though they were in the boundaries of the page and looked fine on the Word document.  What happened, and how do I fix

I created a 5x7 postcard document in Word with text boxes and graphics.  When I converted it to PDF, some of the items were missing, even though they were in the boundaries of the page and looked fine on the Word document.  What happened, and how do I fix it?  I'm trying to upload the PDF version to Vistaprint.  Thanks.

Reader doesn’t create pdf files. You can use Acrobat (ask in that forum) to create pdfs. You can subscribe to the Adobe PDF Pack which has a create pdf functionality (please ask in that forum), or you can use a third party utility such as ghostscript, cutepdf, or Microsoft’s own PDF creation capability. For third party pdf creation you will need to ask in a forum dedicated to that software as fellow users of Reader are unlikely to have the knowledge to help.

  • InDesign CS4 page numbering not displaying correctly in Pages Panel

    Hello,
I searched the forums for a solution to my problem before posting. I am sorry if I'm doubling someone's question but here I go:
I noticed this problem I have about 6 month ago. When I create a simple document with automatic page numbering everything is fine. When I try and create a section (i.e. I want my numbering to start at 1 at page 3) it actually works however in the Pages Panel the pages are displayed with their basic numbers. You will agree this is rather confusing. I've tryed different files, same files on different computers and so on. The problem has to do with my installation of InDesign CS4 and I suppose it's some kind of a display option I accidentally turned on.
Could someone please suggest a solution? Thank you!
