I just started getting "Secure Connection Failed" upon trying to log into a financial website that always worked before, so I decided to see if the same problem existed using Internet Explorer. I terminated Firefox, then started IE, which came up OK with my blank home page. But when I entered the URL for the website's login page, instead of coming up in the IE window, a Firefox window automatically started up, and the requested page came up there instead. So basically, I'm prevented from using IE for anything.

When you enter the URL for a website in the Internet Explorer browser, the page should open in Internet Explorer. It is then possible that clicking other links within that website could open in Mozilla Firefox if Firefox is set as your default browser. You'd need to ensure that Internet Explorer is set as the default browser.
As this is the Firefox forum, I'd suggest checking the Microsoft forum for further assistance on your Internet Explorer settings.

You can usually find the imported IE Favorites in a folder ("From Internet Explorer") at the bottom of the Bookmarks Menu folder (Bookmarks > Organize Bookmarks).
If you can't find them in the "From Internet Explorer" folder then try this:
Export the favorites in IE to an HTML file (bookmarks.html): File > Import and Export<br />
Import the HTML file in Firefox 3: Bookmarks > Organize Bookmarks > Import & Backup > Import HTML: From File

I also have avio laptop which i have no problem with printing on the same printer
I have checked internet option advance settings and both have the same boxes ticked
i have ticked and unticked boxes reset internet unstalled and reinstalled printer
I can save most pages to documents and then print from there this depends on whats in the page
The only thing that seem to make any difference was to untick the internet option security enable protection mode which would ineffect leave my computer vulnerable to attacks which is not advisible
would be very pleased to hear if this can be resolved

Script errors like this can happen with IE and while uncommon are not unheard of. With the print and scan doctor coming back fine we can move to troubleshooting the browser where the error originates. Why does firefox only transfer one of my favourite folders from Internet Explorer and that one is empty

I have downloaded and installed the latest version of firefox and when asked if I wanted to transfer my stuff from Internet explorer I did so but firefox only transferred one favorite folder and that was empty. I have even tried to do this from the firefox toolbar with the same result

Not sure what happened there, but you could try the alternate method.
This involves three steps:
# export your favorites from IE to an HTML-format file
# import that HTML-format into Firefox bookmarks
# move the imported favorites/bookmarks from the import folder to the desired location on the menu

I have been using Internet Explorer and have now downloaded Firefox but cannot find my imported favourites. Where can I find them?

Hold down the option (or alt) key and launch iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Create Library'

I can no longer print web site pages from my Firefox browser. I can still print web site pages from Internet Explorer.

I tried the steps in the Firefox support area of resetting Print.Print_printer but that did not work. Whenever I try tp print a webpage the print preview page is blank and it freezes up. I then have to close the browser and start over. I can print webpages from Internet Explorer.

i imported IE favorites into firefox bookmarks. my IE favorites contained many folders with different categoties of information......eg., folders for car repair, investments,etc. now that i am using firefox, how do i
bookmark a new page into one of the existing IE favorite folders? Before your response was received, I continued to fiddle with the popup box that appears when you click the "bookmark this page". in my fiddling, i noticed that at least once, a litlle small solid triangle appeared just before From IE....I clicked on that little triangle and voila, there were all my sub-folders under the main IE folder!!! Nowhere in all the old posted Firefox support had I seen I clear illustration of doing this......probably I missed it or I'm just a dumbie?
Meanwhile, if anyone is having all kinds of strange problems with computer, and no browsers including IE, with the exception of Firefox, are working properly, if you have Norton Security on your computer and it al;so is not working properly, UNINSTALL NORTON!!!!!!!!!!! When I changed from IE7 to Firefox (and am very glad I did) I migrated my large list of Favorites (which was divided into sub-headings to make it easier to find items) to Firefox Bookmarks. As I continued to bookmark web sites, I added them to to the sub-headings in "From Internet Explorer" from which I can readily retrieve them. However, when I wanted to copy them to my laptop, I discovered that the only "Favorites" I can find on my PC are the old IE7 Favorites - none of the additions made within Firefox were there. Similarly, the Bookmarks Toolbar which I now use is different from the Favorites Toolbar still accessible from my Windows Explorer.
Where is this information stored in Firefox so I can copy it?
My OS is Wndows 7 Professional.

Internet explorer not loading entire web pages

I am having an issue with internet explorer only loading certain parts of select web pages, like espn fantasy football etc. Sometimes the information shows up but does not seem to be formated correctly, the information is low on the page and cannot read certain things. Can anyone help

In addition to what Ron JACKLE & Elizabeth already stated, because IE is no longer supported, you should be using the latest version of IE:
Internet Explorer 5.1.7 for Mac OS 8.1 to 9.x
Give it loads of memory. 300% is strongly recommended as it is memory starved.
Because IE is no longer supported & if you wish to continue using it, you will need to babysit it and give it TLC & do a voodoo dance every week to keep it running smoothly. This is the main reason why I got rid of it. I don't have time for this BS.
Once a week in IE Edit>Preferences, delet History, Empty Cache (if you have cable set Cache to 0).
Once a week Go into the system folder>preferences folder & trash the following preferences:
finder
ASLM
PPC Registration Database
Cache.waf-found inside the MS Internet Cache folder
MRJ Cache folder-a new one will be recreated.(If not found go to System folder>Application Support>MRJ Cache folder-trash all you find inside-(DO NOT TRASH THIS FOLDER)
Download Cache-found inside Explorer Folder
Downloads.html-found inside Explorer Folder
History.html-found inside Explorer Folder
Rebuild your desktop w/extensions off. Use Techtool Lite or Trash*Desktop - may delete Finder comments to rebuild your desktop w/extensions off. Does a better job than manually & you avoid all the finger gymnatics. You just have to hold down the shift key to shut off extensions.
Restart to turn the extensions back on again & empty the trash.

If the above does not work, then dump the %#&*X@ & check out other Mac browsers

How could I use FAVOURITES imported from Internet Explorer

I use Google Chrome. However I get adverts, which obstruct my work. As I cannot get rid of these adverts, I want to try Mozilla Firefox. Web page have ads, and there are add-ons to suppress some of those if you find them troublesome.
Bad add-ons can inject additional ads into pages. Sometimes some "freeware" you install can include these ad injectors which then infect all of your browsers. If you suspect anything along those lines, here's my suggested procedure for tracking down and cleaning out bad add-ons. Sorry for the length -- it's not as bad as it sounds:
(1) Open the Windows '''Control Panel''', Uninstall a Program. After the list loads, click the "Installed on" column heading to group the infections, I mean, additions, by date. This can help in smoking out undisclosed bundle items that snuck in with some software you agreed to install. Take out as much trash as possible here.
(2) Open Firefox's '''Add-ons page''' using either:
* Ctrl+Shift+a
* "3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons
In the left column, click '''Plugins'''. Set nonessential and unrecognized plugins to "Never Activate".
In the left column, click '''Extensions'''. Then, if in doubt, disable (or Remove, if possible) unrecognized and unwanted extensions.
Often a link will appear above at least one disabled extension to restart Firefox. You can complete your work on the tab and click one of the links as the last step.

Firefox wont load background image on some sites but internet explore will load the background

i downloaded firefox awhile ago worked perfectly fine then all a sudden it wont load facebook background images the homepage of facebook loads background image but when i log in it wont load background image but when i try internet explorer it loads the background images fine i checked every setting redownloaded everyhing nothing fix's it tho

If images are missing then check that you aren't blocking images from some domains (e,g, sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net).
*Check the permissions for the domain in the current tab in "Tools > Page Info > Permissions"
*Check that images are enabled: Tools > Options > Content: [X] Load images automatically
*Check the exceptions in "Tools > Options > Content: Load Images > Exceptions"
*Check the "Tools > Page Info > Media" tab for blocked images (scroll through all the images with the cursor Down key).
If an image in the list is grayed and there is a check-mark in the box "<i>Block Images from...</i>" then remove that mark to unblock the images from that domain.
Make sure that you do not block third-party images, the permissions.default.images pref should be 1.
