Pages stay red after publishing

When I opened iWeb, all my published pages were red. I added a new blog and hit "Publish all to .mac." The publishing process starts, then the pages all turn blue and the little clocks start spinning. Then I get a "publishing error" and the pages all revert back to red. Sometimes it actually publishes, sometimes not, but the pages always revert to red.
I also seem to have lost the ability to use the "Add comments" field. Although I select it before publishing, it never appears. What's up?

We are having the same exact issues. I feel like iweb is a testing ground and that it doesn't really work. Everyone is making pages like they are talking to themselves but we never see each others websites.
Our pages are red too and we are getting an unknown error when publishing. One person from france said "reparing authorisations". What the heck does that mean.
Please contact us if yuo figure something out. We will do the same for you.

  • IWeb09 pages remain red after publishing

I recently updated to iWeb09 when I bought a new iMac. I moved my old iWeb08 files across from my old MacBook. While I was messing around with iWeb09, I changed the name of my site from the default Site to Southpaws. Ever since then, I cannot publish all of the pages on my site. Even after publishing the entire site - and receiving the confirmation message that the site has been published - many of the pages on the left remain red and are not published when I check on the internet. Does anyone have any solutions? Thanks very much.

If you search this forum for "red" or "red icon you'll find that this subject has been discussed at great length. Right not there is no tired and true fix. Some have found fixes for their situation but it didn't help others. Be sure to report this to Apple at http://www.apple.com/feedback/iweb.html.

  • Pages not blue after publishing

I've published my site twice the page two days. Yesterday I could not get the site after publishing. The pages did not turn blue. Today I started over and published the entire site again. Got the notice my site had been published. Went to the site. All's ok there, but iWeb program has not turned the 'red' pages 'blue' indicating that they have been published. Should I publish again?

Rather than reading my reply only in email, look at the actual thread and you'll see it's a clickable link — so you don't need to search.

  • Blank pages in site after publishing

I'm officially frustrated. For some reason I have a couple pages that keep showing up blank in my web browser after being published in iweb. 90% of the pages work.
I have tried deleting entire site off idisk and republishing with "publish all"
I have updated iweb all the way.
I have duplicated the page in iweb and then deleting the original and renaming it the original.
I just can't figure it out.... Please help!
    my website is http://www.ineed2changemylife.com
That is my personal domain, I have two sites linked to it.
    Thanks in advance!

I'm seeing this too with a few of my pages, notably photo "Albums" pages. Everything publishes except for the albums themselves. Page is there. Header is there. But no albums.
Am I really paying for this?

  • Pages that are published stay "Red" and don't turn "Blue"

I had iWeb 08. Whenever I updated it would turn the pages in the sidebar from "Red" to "Blue". So whenever I made a change iWeb would know just to publish the pages that were changed. BUT NOW WITH IWEB 09... Whenever I click publish... ALL THE PAGES STAY "RED" AND DON'T TURN "BLUE"!!! So if i see a small spelling mistake it WILL PUBLISH THE WHOLE SITE THAT IS 9.0GB AND IT TAKES 6 HOURS. When the change should at tops take only 3 MINUTES!!! It is making me mad and when i need to make little changes it takes six hours to update. And keeps republishing the entire site... I even tried clicking publish entire site to see if that would change it blue and it still didn't work. PLEASE HELP ME!!!!

When you publish to a local folder, all the pages do indeed turn blue. When you relaunch the site in iWeb they are all red again.
I gave up publishing to MobileMe a long time ago and, by introducing the new and exciting but almost useless FTP, Apple seem to have noticed that others are less than satisfied with this service.
If you want anybody outside of the Mac community to see your website then you are going to have to rethink your publishing arrangements.
A 9.0 GB site is very small. If it didn't upload in 6 minutes I would be unhappy!
I publish to a local folder and optimize and upload my files to Host Excellence using the application Web Site Maestro. This application doesn't need iWeb to tell it what files have changed. It figures it out all on its own and only optimizes and uploads these.
Even a fairly simple iWeb built site will struggle to load on a PC running Internet Explorer if you don't optimize your images before loading into iWeb and optimize all the files before upload.

  • Code added to template not working after publishing

We want to track the usage and see who is hitting the pages and where they are hitting them from. A developer at our company who wrote some code for us to be able to do this using an includes file. When we place the code directly into the HTM page using notepad (after publishing) it works fine. When we put the code into the template (.HTT) and then publish it, that code does not appear in the published page.
Is there a setting in the template that would not let us throw a line of code for a server side include in the RoboHelp WYSIWYG editor? Or how do you add such code to the template and have it pull into every page it displays?
Using RH8, publishing WebHelp and not using RH Server.
    Thanks.

This question is related to webhelp, not Microsoft HTML Help (CHMs) so I have moved it.

  • IWeb will not Publish.  The publish icon stays red and no changes are made. Please help.

The question says everything.  When I click "publish site," the world icon at the top of the screen stays red (instead of whirling about and turning blue), and no changes are made.  When I exit the program, it says, do you want to exit while changes are still being made?
This is confusing, since nothing seems to be uploading according to the icon.   The website really needs to be updated and I welcome and appreciate any and all help.  Thank you.

If this doesn't get things going try the second method - publishing to a local folder - to see if that works.

Also check if your javascript retains after Publishing. Sharepoint will remove malcious code/script html after saving the page and make page safe.

  • Published iWebsite pages turn red when scrolling pages in iWeb

    Hi everyone,
Just wondering if I'm the only person who has this issue; when I publish my iweb sites and pages (to MobileMe) all goes well, but when I then scroll my page up and down in iWeb the site turns red again as if I have changed its content.
I've tried the usual stuff (deleted caches, prefs, logged into MM under a bogus username and password) to check if the problem is a MM issue but this also occurs when I publish to a folder...
I've repaired disk permissions and did a fresh install of OS X (10.6.7) two weeks ago.
Does anyone have any other suggestions which might solve this issue? Or perhaps even the same problem?
    cheers,
    koen

    Brilliant OT!
Although immediately posting to the discussions group says something about my personal opinion on the reliability of iWeb ... the problem was caused as you expected; the double digit finger action.
So 'no swiping in iWeb' I suppose.
The 'turning red' of published site pages was 100% reproducible by scrolling down using my trackpad, but it doesn't happen when I use my mighty mouse or the arrow buttons/scroll bar thing. (Even although nothing was selected in iWeb, bit of a bug if you'd ask me)
Thanks again for pointing out the logical and to me not so obvious
    cheers,
    koen

  • Web pages are different after I publish-hyperlinks off, and more...

I created eight web pages with hyperlinks on photos and text. The photo hyperlinks work, but the text links do not.
Some of my formatting has changed after publishing. Most common example, I have a thin, white line above several photos. I've tried several ways to correct the problems, all to no avail.
After I publish to a folder, how do I find the file size of what will be published?
    Thank you, in advance.

Some of my formatting has changed after publishing.
Most common example, I have a thin, white line above
several photos. I've tried several ways to correct
the problems, all to no avail.
The easiest way to get rid of this white line...click on the affected photo, open up the Inspector and click on the Ruler tab. Now increase the height of the photo by one or two pixels. This should work.
The other method is to select the affected photo, open up the Inspector to the Shapes tab and change the opacity of the photo to 99%. This should also work.
Basically, both methods work by forcing iWeb to re-render the image as PNG by changing the photo ever so slightly.
After I publish to a folder, how do I find the file
size of what will be published?
After you publish to a folder, just select the folder in the Finder and type "Apple-i" to get the size of the folder. Is this what you are after?

  • After publishing page I get redirected to C Drive!

Hi - I can connect to the server, make and edit but after
publishing, Contribute redirects me to this page:
    C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Contribute
    CS3\Configuration\Templates\Default.html
    Please help! It's SO ANNOYING!
    Thanks

I don't have the answer, but I put a short sentence in that
file you described and noticed the following:
    1. I created a new blanc page
    2. When I published this blank page the sentence I put in
    C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Contribute
CS3\Configuration\Templates\Default.html was visible for a very
    short time
    3. When I cancelled this blank page the sentence I put in
    C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Contribute
CS3\Configuration\Templates\Default.html was visible for a very
    short time
It seems top me taht this delfault.html file is used to
create a blank page, but strangely the sentence I put in doesn't
appear visible ijn the draft or in the published new html file. My
version of Contribute doesn't hang on this page, but passes without
any problem to the page I created or the page I was when I
    cancelled the new page.
Maybe you should contact Adobe and find out what the reason
is for calling this file or try to reinstall the program.

Where are you hosting the site, how are you uploading the files and what's the URL of your site so we can examine it first hand?
Adding audio files by dragging onto the web page forces the viewer to have Quicktime installed on their computer in order to be able to listen to them.  Look at the audio player options on this page of Roddy's iWeb for Musicians site: Audio Players for your Music Website.

  • Web pages are not automatically published. First they are saved as drafts with a .new extension.

    Hi,
I am curently using adobe CS3. I am facing this strange
problem where my web pages are being saved with a .new extension
when I am tryign to publish. Everytime I need to go and change the
extension from .cfm.new to .cfm inorder to see the changes made to
the web page. I have even enabled the option so that contribute
does not send the page for reviewing before publsihing. Even after
enabling it I am facine the same problem. And this problem is being
faced by everyone who has publishing rights including the admin.
Can anyone please suggest a way to get rid of the .new extension
    after publishing.
Your help will be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks!

We, too, are having this problem.  I see two posts in 2008-07 reporting this, but no answers and nothing via Google.
    Details:
    1. The web server is a Red Hat Linux / Apache.
    2. It seems site-wide:  several department webmasters have reported the problem.  It may be limited to webs that are using Contribute and check-in/check-out.
    3. The only thing I can think might be causing it is that our NTP daemon is broken, and the time of day drifted ~6 minutes (I have since reset the clock by hand).

  • Graphics look different after publishing

I am creating a new site and after publishing, the TIF images I use change color. I change the background color of the image which looks fine on iweb but different when published.
Any ideas on what I'm doing wrong?
Thanks for your advice in advance.

    Phil:
I see all red links and only one has a mouse over action which is a green underline. Actually there are two that are just white text and not linked. You might try using the Publish all to .Mac menu option to force a rebuild of all the pages. That might do it.
