Pages stopped versioning using lion 10.7.4
Pages stopped versioning suddenly at the beginning of Sept only I didn't notice it until I wanted to browser versions. It shows a black screen with unable to display version. I am using lion 10.7.4 and the last iwork 09 updates was july 31 so that didn't cause the hiccup suddenly sept 1.
these are files on my regular user folder not drop box and that is the black screen I get for each version it should be saving but isn't. When I tried to restore one it couldn't open it locked up the whole imac.
I says unable to display file on that one I tried to restore to see what would happen.
What next? It is only on one of 2macs with identical software and I can't think of what I installed to break pages and numbers.

I solved this in September 2012 by doing this:
I decided to first try the JAVA version 6 and IMOVIE update delivered via software update to the 10.7.4 LION runners like me. I didn't re run the combo update but that was suggested.
AND...it fixed my problem! I was sort of hoping that something in the way apple updates something as big as JAVA would nudge the planets back into alignment and it did.
So, I've tested the png, preview , numbers, text edit and pages apps (just left off keynote) and they can all be forced to save a version, save one on close and restore from any of those "post" the JAVA and imovie software update install. the versions with the black unable to open screens for other saved versions still are "unable to be opened" but I can see when I saved them!
My last test is to change something and "wait" 5 minutes to see if the auto save version kicks in and works. How to test - wait 5 minutes, change something and close and see if the one at the wait 5 minutes stop gets saved as a version...lets see...THIS WORKED AS WELL - the auto save. Isn't that why apple created it anyway - so you didn't have to click save !

All you need to do is run Software Update to make sure you have the iWork 9.1 update. It will update your existing installation of the three applications. If you're not running the latest versions & Software Update says your software is up to date, make sure the applications are where the installer initially put them. The updaters are very picky. If the location is not where the updater is programmed to look or if the folder doesn't have the name the updater looks for, it will not work. The applications cannot be renamed or moved. Even if you think you'll never need all three of the applications, you cannot delete any. They must be in the iWork '09 folder in Applications. That iWork folder must be named iWork '09. If it doesn't have the '09 Software Update won't find them & the updaters won't work.

How can I stop Firefox from changing Tabs/pages when I use the up/down arrows for scrolling?
A recent update is causing the browser to switch between tabs, or even go on to other pages, when I use the keyboard navigation arrows to scroll down the page. This is aggravating, especially when filling out a form, which can submit before completion. The tab switching occurs mostly when the focus is not in a specific portion of the web page, such as when I have selected a tab. I I can find no way to disable this behavior.

I use lion 10.7.2 and iPhoto latest version but when I export a slide show when I play it . It plays about half of the slide show and screen become white ? How can I solve it ? Is it bug or my computer problem

When I'm using Safari, ocasionally the menu bar just disappears. I'm running the latest version of Lion and the latest version of Safari. This is not a full screen app problem. I have multiple windows open. This happens all the time! Firefox is fine! What the ****? Please help!
Right, like I'm trying to say, THERE IS NO SAFARI MENU bar. Example: I have multiple applications open, I click on a Photoshop window, the correct menu or title bar or whatever changes. Every other application window I click on brings up the correct "whatever" bar. If I click on the desktop, the "Finder Bar" shows up.
Everythiing else, BUT SAFARI, works the same way since OS X came out. This is ridiculous.
I'm getting the vibe that Apple is trying to get rid of the finder.... this is the way wrong direction. -
I am having problems with my Magic Trackpad. All I can do is move the cursor and single click. I using the most current version of Lion.
In System Preferences > Trackpad > your preferences should look like this screenshot. If they don't then some 3rd party driver is conflicting. The most common conflict is USBoverdrive.

Since I started using Lion (10.7.2) I'm prompted to type my password if I want to add a folder or put something in the trash. Is there a way to stop this from happening?

Restart Lion and hold down the Command and R keys.
You will boot into the Repair Utilities screen. On top, in the Menu Bar click the Utilities item then select Terminal.
In the Terminal window, type resetpassword and hit Return.
The Password reset utility launches, but you’re not going to reset the password. Instead, click on the icon for your Mac’s hard drive at the top. From the drop-down below it, select the user account where you are having issues.
At the bottom of the window, you’ll see an area labeled ‘Reset Home Directory Permissions and ACLs’. Click the Reset button there.
The reset process takes a couple of minutes. When it’s done, quit the programs you’ve opened and restart your Mac. Notice that ‘Spotlight’ starts re-indexing immediately. -

Assuming the manual is in PDF format -
When you are in Safari and viewing the manual, right-click (or control-click) on the image of one of the pages in the Safari window. From the contextual menu presented, select "Open with Preview".
This should open the manual in a separate Preview window.
Then in Preview select Save in the File menu; you will be asked to give the file a name (you do not need to change it) and choose a destination. Make your choices, click OK.
In a few seconds the file should appear as an openable PDF in the location chosen. -
After installing 8.2 on my iPad (2nd gen) all the apps crash during use. It appears that the iPad saves a version of what I was using because after the app crashes I double press the home button an there is a screen of an older version of the page I was using. I swipe it away and start over, only to have the same thing happen again. I have reinstalled all the apps, rebooted, synced and re-synced with iTunes. This is VERY irritating!
That's one of the weird things.. it recognizes it maybe 10% of the time. And usually, only after I do the two-button reset. Problem is.. since it won't charge above 2%, anytime I try to do a restore or anything like that using iTunes, my device shuts off and I lose whatever progress I'd made.
So, an update... after reading through a bunch of similar complaints (there are literally 1000's of them so there's NO WAY this isn't somehow ios7 related, thanks a lot APPLE ) I decided to try a restore in recovery mode. After 3 hours and several disconnections... I ended up having to just set it up as a new iPad, as the restore did nothing. Weirdly though... as I was doing the restore in recovery mode.. I noticed I'd gotten up to a 10% charge.. higher than it's been since September, so after setting it up as a new device, I turned it off and plugged it in using the wall charger. 2 hours later and I was up to 38%. Still not great, as my iPad, before ios7 could've fully charged twice in the amount of time it took for me to now get 28% more of a charge. And that's with a fully cleaned out device.. so that really ***** and I'm now more confused than ever.
But I'm gonna leave it overnight charging and see what I come up with tomorrow. Sadly, when I paid $600 for it in February, I never expected to have to play "wait and see" with it... -
Hi, having old macbook pro intending to upgrade my os from snow leopard to lion but negative reviews on lion just put me off..i have ms office and photo shop installed on my machine..my question is will upgrading to lion stop me using those application? thank you.

Negative reviews are common place here as it is a trouble shooting forum. If you want to read the advantages, improvements and new features then go to the Apple site. If you are running Word 2004, Early Adobe suite, etc which are PPC programs, then don't update. Go to Apple logo in upper left menu bar, open About this mac > More Info > Software >Applications and sort by 'Kind' and look what PPC programs you have installed. If you are not prepared to upgrade these programs, then do not update to Lion.
There are plenty of threads to read up on about this here. But remember that 99.9% of comments will be negative, even though the forums represent only a tiny fraction of the Millions of Lion Downloads purchased and installed with no issues at all. So basically it's your call.

Pages 09 (updated) will not start up using Lion OSX
iWork Pages 09 (updated) will not start up using Lion OSX. It did work at one time but now it won't. I reinstalled iWork several times with updates but the applications say to reinstall or check the developer. I'm using an i-Mac Intel with updated downloads for all applications. Thank You in Advance for your thoughts to solving this concern.
What else have you been doing just before this problem started? Any other updates on the computer? If you need to reinstall iWork which some has when upgrading to Lion after a complete uninstall.

You can tap one of the keyboard Function (F) keys. Without knowing which keyboard you use it 's a little difficult to say. If you don't have a keyboard shortcut to do that, create one in System Preferences - Keyboard. I have my F6 key set to take me directly to the desktop. However the way your question is phrased I'm not positive that is what you are asking.

Since update to later version of Lion, some applications don't work?
Since I updated to a later version of Lion, the following things have stopped working:
-Safari
-VLC Media Player
-Java based things (chatrooms don't work for example)
I did a combo update that someone suggested and this did nothing.
Here are my specs:
Macbook Pro
Mac OS X Version 10.7.4 (11E53)
2.4 GHz Intel Core i5
4 GB 1333 MHz DDR3
Intel HD Graphics 3000 384 MB
I have tried removing VLC and reinstalling but no luck.
Please help? I am tempted to just wipe my Macbook clean and start again but that will take forever to get back and my internet is awful.

As has been mentioned you must be connected to a FaceTime session to be able to enter Full Screen.

You can find it by double-clicking the photo area in an AB contact. Mine says Aperture because that is my default photo manager.

For the moment only a few applications support Autosave + Versions. They are mainly Pages, Numbers, Keynote and TextEdit. So depending on what application you are using you may not have that feature available yet. But you can enter the Version UI a couple of ways:
1. Pull down the window name and choose "browse all versions;"
2. Or, pull down File > Revert to Saved.
