Pages suddenly requires a higher version of OSX?

Greetings,
I have a 2006 Mac Mini (1.66 GHz Intel Core Duo) which I acquired second hand form a friend. I upgraded to Snow Leopard (10.6.8) and bought the current version of Pages through the app store, and it worked wonderfully. However, I just had a hard drive failure a couple of days ago and had to have a new hard drive installed, and thus had to reinstall Snow Leopard, and start over from scratch. I went to the app store to re-download my purchased apps. Everything downloaded and installed fine except for Pages, which now says "requires OS X v10.7".
Why would Pages suddenly require a new version of the OS? It worked perfectly fine when I bought it. Even if I wanted to upgrade OS X again (which I can't afford at the moment) it appears that this particular model of Mac Mini can't take anything higher than 10.6 — 10.7 requires a different processor. So how can I get Pages working again? I used it pretty much daily, I can't suddenly go without a word processor. Can anyone help? What can I do?

Same issue here Thomas.  I did contact the Mac App Store support via email.  Sent them the following -
I reinstalled Snow Leopard on one of my 27 inch iMacs and was in the process of reloading my purchases from the App Store when I discovered that I can no longer install Pages or Keynote. This is apparently due to recent updates that require 10.7.4 or greater. While that's great that Apple keeps updating these apps for free for newer systems, I need to be able to reload the previous versions that run on my OS.
I paid for applications that worked with Snow Leopard, in the case of Pages less than one month ago (July 15, 2012). It is unacceptable that I can no longer access them. I agreed to make a purchase, not a temporary rental that disappears whenever you need to reload your OS due to hardware or software issues. What makes this even worse is that I have a project that I need to complete by this weekend. I fail to understand why the App Store cannot offer me the last compatible version for my OS since it obviously understands which OS version I am running.
The bottom line is that I want the software that I paid for, I don't care if you even have to send me an iWork DVD in the mail. I'm sure Apple got some lying around since they were pulled from the shelves of your stores. If that is not possible, then I would like my App Store account credited for a full refund for Pages and Keynote.
The agent who processed my request either did not read my message completely or completely fails to understand our issue as I was simply told to see http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4482 and http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3624.  These documents have nothing to do with the matter at hand.  Ugh, trying to escalate the issue.

    upgrade to at least OS X 10.5.x or, if your machine supports it, OS X 10.6.
    you should still be able to get 10.5. from Apple but it'll run you about $ 130. OS X 10.6. costs $ 30.

    Sounds like you have stored files in iCloud or shared them with your iPad which has updated the files to the later Pages 5 versions.
    Pages 5 only runs in OSX 10.9 Mavericks, and is a much cut down version.
    If you have owned any iWork apps then you can get it for free with the Apple Up-To-Date Program:
    http://www.freeforum101.com/iworktipsntrick/viewtopic.php?t=429&mforum=iworktips ntrick
    To make Pages 5 files openable in Pages '09 you need to export them but they will have been altered, in some cases damaged. Better to revert to older copies.

  • Every time I open a new safari page and scroll down it jumps back to the top of the page. mac book pro, newest version of OSX. Thanks all!

    every time I open a new safari page and scroll down it jumps back to the top of the page. Happens super inconsistently and not on every web page. Tried all the dum dum moves like restarting computer and changing scroll direction in track pad. Anyone else have a similar issue? mac book pro, newest version of OSX. Thanks all!

    From the Safari menu bar, select
    Safari ▹ Preferences ▹ Extensions
    Turn all extensions OFF and test. If the problem is resolved, turn extensions back ON and then disable them one or a few at a time until you find the culprit.
    If you wish, you may be able to salvage the malfunctioning extension by uninstalling and reinstalling it. Its settings will revert to their defaults. If the extension still causes a problem, remove it permanently or refer to its developer for support.

  • Dreamweaver CS4 Content on this page requires a newer version of Adobe Flash Player.

    I'm working with the CS4 Design Premium Suite.  I've done all the updates. I've followed all the steps in the training.
    I've used the adobe media encoder to create FLV file from a windows media clip.
    Then on a simple new html page. saved to a brand new local folder I try to insert my conent:
    I  use  menu command "Insert _ Media _ FLV"  I browse to the file,  I insert & save the page
    I can see a place holder in design view but if I go to live view I see the message"Content on this page requires a newer version of Adobe Flash Player."
    If I preview to a browser I get the same thing,
    If I go to the local folder and access the page directly I get the same thing.
    I alse created simple SWF file in Flash CS4.  Saved in the root folder.
    I use the menu command "Insert _ Media _ SWF"  I see a place holder.
    Save it, save all the files.
    Same thing. Content on this page requires a newer version of Adobe Flash Player.
    I read online where others are having this issue, someone one said "Why are you using "swfobject_modified?"  "Try swfobject.modified"
    tried with no visble change.
    I thought that flash & dreamweaver are supposed to be fully intergrated?
    Why are these seemingly simple operations causing me so much grief?
    I'm days behind in my training & on my project due to this problem.   Any help anyone could offer would be appreciated.
    Thank you!

    hienn,
    Not yet. There was an upgrade page to 10.8.2 for the late 2012 models but it's down now. I have to assume that Apple pulled it because of some bugs. I would look for something next week, more likely than not. In the meantime, the OP should be good with 10.8.1 until the update shows up again.

  • Wrong warning? to open with Reader (9.3.x or higher) "This PDF form requires a newer version of ..."

    Hello
    I have a problem with my form, when opened with Adobe Reader Version 9.3.0.148 (included) or higher Reader systematically shows the annoying message "This PDF form requires a newer version of Adobe Reader ...".
    I work with 3 versions of each form:
    1) Dynamic PDF Form XDP: Generated with Adobe Designer ES 8.2, (target version "Acrobat and Adobe Reader 8.0 or later. "
    XDP form has no "Warings"
    XFA-Template:
    2) PDF Form, generated from the XDP form of point 1), using Adobe LC Forms ES2 "renderXDPForm" method.
    3) Flatten PDF, generated from the PDF form, resulting in point 2) value, using Adobe LC Assembler ES2.
    DDX:
    I have generated 3 different PDF rendering, changing only the "target version":
    a.1 PDFFormRenderSpec.setAcrobatVersion (AcrobatVersion.Acrobat_6): MyForm-ES-AcroVersion6.pdf.
    b.1 PDFFormRenderSpec.setAcrobatVersion (AcrobatVersion.Acrobat_7_0_5): MyForm-ES-AcroVersion7.pdf
    c.1 PDFFormRenderSpec.setAcrobatVersion (AcrobatVersion.Acrobat_8): MyForm-ES-AcroVersion8.pdf
    Of all that I've created a flat version using Assembler:
    a.2: MyForm-ES-AcroVersion6-flatten.pdf
    b.2: MyForm-ES-AcroVersion7-flatten.pdf
    c.2: MyForm-ES-AcroVersion8-flatten.pdf
    Attach all forms of work[zip 4 download].
    Well ... I tried to open all forms generated (six) with versions of Adobe Reader from 8.1.0 to 10.0.1.434 X and the findings are that the annoying warning message is displayed only with the flattened forms and from version 9.3 .0.148 (included) or higher.
    Table of test, where
    OK= No message at open.
    Err= Message displayed.
    I do not understand or just logical that the most current versions (and higher) Reader is precisely this message to appear at what may be due? What's happening?
    Why the message is taught only in the flattened forms?
    How I can solve this problem?
    Thanks.

    I do not use the method "renderPDFForm" (at least not explicitly), instead use the "renderXDPForm (...)".
    I added the XDP form the zip (I forgot): download from here!
    And the only parameter that you can tell this method over the "target" of the resulting PDF is "com.adobe.idp.services.PDFFormRenderSpec. "
    /* Common to all generated PDF */
    com.adobe.idp.services.PDFFormRenderSpec renderSpec= new com.adobe.idp.services.PDFFormRenderSpec();
    renderSpec.setLinearizedPDF(true);
    renderSpec.setLocale("es_ES");
    renderSpec.setRenderAtClient(RenderAtClient.No);
    renderSpec.setCacheEnabled(false);
    renderSpec.setStandAlone(true);
    /* Target version 8 o superior: Usede ONLY to generate "MyForm-ES-AcroVersion8.pdf" */
    renderSpec.setAcrobatVersion(AcrobatVersion.Acrobat_8);
    /* Target version 7.0.5 o superior: Usede ONLY to generate "MyForm-ES-AcroVersion7.pdf"  */
    renderSpec.setAcrobatVersion(AcrobatVersion.Acrobat_7_0_5);
    /* Target version 6 o superior: Usede ONLY to generate "MyForm-ES-AcroVersion6.pdf"  */
    renderSpec.setAcrobatVersion(AcrobatVersion.Acrobat_6);
    After this, process PDF forms resulting in Assembler.
    I tried also NO explicitly assign the "AcroVersion" ... and in such cases, the resulting AcroVersion indicated corresponds to the time of design (Adobe Designer, File / Form Properties / Default / Target Version), and in such cases the resulting PDF, also displays the warning message.
    I do not know if I answered your question.
    Any idea?

    An eligible Logic Pro version was not found in the Applications folder. This update requires Logic Pro version 9.0 or higher.

    Thx, but i had already read that and tried it: did not work.
    Got it fixed now by reinstalling Logic Studio 9 from DVD.
    That indeed creates the Logic Pro folder in Applications - something I had tried earlier by simply moving my existing Logic folder. This means the Logic 9.1.5 update does not simply check a folder name: there must be another entry/registry entry it checks. Reinstalling Logic Studio from scratch solved it for me.
    After reinstalling thought Lion forgot my Focusrite Saffire 40, so no DAW. Solved that by reading a forum entry on beta drivers.
    So I am happy, music creation wise.
    Left for me is to solve the X Mail application saying it does not run under Lion!

    I even pulled the dmg file into the Logic Studio folder in my applications directory and it still does not recognize it.  What do I do now?

    Niel:  Thanks.
    For others benefit, here is what happened.
    I had installed Logic Studio 9.1 some time ago.......not knowing what all the programs were nor what they did, I created a "Logic Studio" subfolder in my applications folder and put all Logic Studio programs into it so I'd know where they were and could review each at my leisure over time.
    My assumption now is that when the updater looks for the Logic Pro program, it looks only in the applications folder.  It seems lame that it would not also look in the subfolders of the applications folder, but that apparently IS the way it works.  Because my Logic Pro program was located in the "Logic Studio" subfolder, the updater just didn't see it..hence the error message I received when I tried to update.
    Solution:  I moved all the Logic Studio programs out of the subfolder and now they reside in the applications folder. Ran the 9.1.5 updater and it worked like a charm.

  • I have a macbook air with osx 10.6.8 and it has a 1.4 GHz intel core duo processor and 2GB 1067 Mhz DDR3. I want to use icloud but am afraid buying the version of osx that is required will bog my computer speed down, or change the user inerface. I

    I am not computer savy and like my macbook air because as a college student, and father that is very busy, I don't have to learn to re-use it every month after it crashes from a virus. Am I able to load the new version of osx that icloud requires onto this computer without changing it substantially or slowing it down?

    If you want to sync it to the iPad from that Mac, you need to upgrade it to at least 10.5.8.
    If you want to copy the music to another Mac, you don't. Move the iTunes folder of the item in the Finder's sidebar over as you would any other folder. If you put it somewhere other than the Music folder, launch iTunes with the Option key held down and point it to that location.

  • Adobe Reader- higher version required?

    Hi All,
    We are workking on ECC 5.0, EP6.0.
    WHen I goto Personnel Change Request to open any form, i am getting an error message saying 'A higher version of Adobe Reader is required'. We are currently on Adobe reader 7.0
    All this while, we were able to view the forms, but,starting today, we are getting this error. Any idea why this error is coming?
    Thanks in advance,
    Aditi

    hi Aditi,
    ideally adobe reader version 7.0.x is suggested.
    search on google... something like "update for adobe reader 7.0".
    and then ur version will become 7.0.1 after installing the update.
    dont jump to adobe reader 8.0 immediately.
    also to be on the safe side check the expiry date of the credential file on ur J2EE engine.
    the sneak preview one we got expired on 30th june.
    all our working forms had stopped working.
    if it is ur your credential file that got expired just roll back the dates of the server and ur system to a date prior to the expiry date(IF IT IS URGENT).
    <b>Much better idea would be to get a proper credential file from SAP.
    So that  every thing is in place and works fine :)...</b>

    Sounds like you downloaded the 10.8.1 update instead of the Mountain Lion installer from the Mac App Store.
    You have to purchase Mountain Lion from the App Store to get to 10.8

  • Content on this page requires a newer version of Adobe Flash Player...What??

    Hi,
    I have a really enoying problem here, please help me out!
    I have built my personal webpage in Flash CS3/AS3. I did some updates today, changed some pictures and stuff. Now when I upload and replace the previous *.swf on the server, and try to load my webpage my browser displays the folowing message:
    Content on this page requires a newer version of Adobe Flash Player.
    I tried exporting with Flas Player 8, and checked it using different bowsers too (curenntly I use the latest version of Firefox), but I get the same error when trying to relode my site. I have no more ideas what to do.
    Please help....
    Regards

    I have been used to this issue for a while now so I take it for granted with the solution.
    It seems Dreamweaver has issues with absolute paths when it comes to displaying SWF files correctly.
    It would seem that the logical workflow would be to open the  File tab and drag the SWF file into place.
    Doing this works if you test the SWF file directly in Dreamweaver by clicking on the Play button when the SWF file is active.
    But if you view it in a browser using the Web URL you will get: Content on this page requires a newer version of Adobe Flash Player.
    This plagued me for ages as I ended up installing and reinstalling Flash Player until I realised this was happening on all Computers that I tested the page on.
    If you drag the SWF file onto the page, in Code View you will see in two locations in the generated code: data="file:///C|/path/swffile.swf"
    Noe the strange | character after C ?
    This needs to be changed to the relative path data="path/swffile.swf"
    It will then work in the Browser without the error message
    If you go: Insert / Media / SWF and choose the SWF file, it will add it correctly.
    It only seems to happen when you drag the SWF into the page.
    Hope this helps.
