I am trying to move a table that I made in pages. For some reason it will not let me move it away from where it is. Can you please help me?

Approach your table from the left with your mouse pointer still an I-beam. When it turns into a left diagonal facing black mouse pointer, click once to select your table.
In the Inspector, choose the Wrap Inspector. As long as your table's object placement is enabled for inline moves with text, you won't be able to drag it anywhere. Select either floating, doesn't move with text, or in background. If you use the background setting, you may also want to select background objects are selectable.
These settings will allow you to move the table.

Can items from a list be copied and pasted into a new Pages Table?

In iWork Pages, I have a list of 50's & 60's recording artists and their songs, (which is about 40 pages long) from my '45 rpm record collection for my Jukebox.
Is there any way to copy and paste the artists' names, and their songs into a Pages Table, so that I can sort the artists' names into an alphabetical list?
If there is a way, it would save me a ton of work of typing each name into a Table one at a time.

Recently, I have had documents of lists that I had wanted to put into a Table afterwards, but there was no way that I could do it.... which brought me to my question to the Forum.....
I had made the artists' listing & songs of about 40 pages, about 7 years ago when I had a PC, and it was done in MS Word, and I haven't worked on it since then.
Being a veritable Newbie at the time, I had put the artists' name in one column, and the song title in another. When I had to insert a new artist and song, I would "Add Row Below" and then type the info in.
Little did I realize at the time that I had created a Table, without knowing it (I told you that I was a Newbie).
So when I started to work on those files this morning for the first time in a number of years, I wondered how could I put all the info from that Word document into a Table in Pages.
Then I could sort Ascending, instead of "Add Row Below" to squeeze the new name in when I wanted to add another artist.
Then I realized after posting the question on this Forum, that it ALREADY WAS in Table form.
I looked into the help section of Pages and found that I could sort the names in the Inspector Box in the Table Tab.
So, sorry to say I didn't discover a new technique of copying a list and then pasting the info into a new Table in one shot......

That is not the issue.
Pages/OSX does not save files with crop marks and bleeds.
It also by default saves transparency, which is involved in a lot of Pages' better features, at a rubbishy 72 dpi resolution.
It also makes it extremely difficult to maintain mono-color like black only text, has no spot color and makes color management opaque.
It really is only meant for amateur publishing and printing to your desktop printer.
A commercial printer who is willing to use and print from Pages may have better results but at the cost of considerable micro-management which defeats the point of this "cheap" solution.

How to copy and paste a multi-page table of contents?

Hi everyone.
I have a large document with a Table Of Contents extending over two pages. I'd like to copy the entire TOC then paste it into a new Pages document.
I have been able to copy the TOC however when I try to paste it into a new blank Word Processing pages document the following Error message appears: "The table of contents is empty because none of the paragraph styles selected in the Document Inspector are used in the document."
I can paste it into a blank Page Layout pages document however it pastes it into a text box with only one page of the TOC in it. Even if the new Page Layout document has two pages and I extend the text box over the two pages only one page of the TOC is copied into the new Page Layout document. At the moment the only work-around I can do is to take a screen shot of each individual page of the TOC and paste them individually into a new pages document. I have tried exporting the entire original document to a plain text file however all the formating is lost (obviously). I have also tried exporting the entire original document to a Word document (.doc) however it won't let me copy the multi-page TOC and paste it into a new Word document.
Is there any way to successfully copy a multi-page table of contents to a new Pages document?

How does one export individual pages from a Pages document?
I've also tried to copy the TOC section from the document thumbnail however I can't figure out how to select multiple pages in the document thumbnails. It only allows me to select one at a time. Furthermore, when I do select a single page from the thumbnail section and attempt to drag and drop it into the the thumbnail section of the second document it picks up the whole document and wont allow me to move it from the thumbnail section of the original document.
Shift click to select multiple pages, and I did say Copy and Paste, not drag and drop.

I don't know if this has been answered already, but I was wondering if it was possible to resize individual cells in a Pages table (iPad) or to set them to expand automatically when I enter more text than fits a cell?

How to find memory used by page tables

Is there a way to find out how much memory is currently being used by page tables? I am new to Solaris ;-)
I want to quantify the advantages of Intimate Shared Memory (in the context of a large Oracle database with lots of concurrent users). I want to contrast this against Linux which does not have a method of allowing different processes to share page tables that map onto shared memory. Thus, with a large number of concurrent connections where each connection creates a new process that maps onto the Oracle shared memory, a significant amount of memory can be consumed just by the page table entries.

Yes, a very recent acquisition :-) ......I'm busy working my way through it, just taught myself about mdb today but I still can't figure how to get the amount of memory being used by page tables only. The dcmd ::memstat can give me the total amount of memory being used by the kernel but I would like some more detail than that.
On Linux you can simply look at /proc/meminfo and it contains a wealth of information. I was hoping Solaris would be similar....but isn't that always the case when doing something new? We hope it's like what we already know :-) Below is an example from Linux showing that 1860 kB have been to store page table entries.

I'm working on Ludwig's testcase.
Ludwig's testcase is based on read-only View Objects.
Is it also the case in your application ?
I was unable to reproduce with VOs based on EOs.
With read-only VOs, you can avoid the ArrayIndexOutOfBoundsException by setting the "Key Attribute" property for the PK of the Master VO.

Revision Bars in multi-page tables.

When I have a one-page table in FM 8.0, I can get the Rev Bars to be a solid line. However, if the table spans more than one page, the Rev Bars will only appear broken up at each cell. Is there a way to fix this?

As background, you probably know this already, but the way the change bars work is that they are actually applied to the text within cells, so that's why the bar itself is the same height as the leading size on the paragraph. The row and table setting for space above/below the text and cell is what breaks up the solid change bar line.
One thing that makes the change bars "separate" is if the table has varying paragraph styles in cells, the height of the change bar depends on whether the change is applied to a larger or a smaller paratag.
Sometimes the separation can be controlled by applying a fixed row height to all the rows, but of course that sometimes can't be accommodated because of the design or content of the table.
Another issue is whether you use column balancing or feathering in the document.
Perhaps other folks will jump in with some advice -- and I'll dig through my archives too, as I know I've come across this problem in the past.

Wiki Pages Table of contests

Hi,
Is there an easy way (add a web part maybe) to add a wiki page table of contents in SharePoint 2013.
I want the table of contents to be located at the top of the screen and references headings in the page below.
Granted you can add a table of contents but this only references actual pages and not content in the pages.
Any help would be much appreciated

Hi All,
Just thought I'd let you know I have had a go at implementing the ToC described in the link above. I downloaded the sample code as opposed to working the chunks of code into a copy of my EnterpriseWiki.aspx page and the only issue I had was that
on my new page layout there are no page styles for Heading 2.
To fix this I reverted back to the Basic Page layout and formatted some text as "Heading 2 Alternate" and then changed the page layout back to my customised layout with the ToC. This didn't immediately fix the issue; I had
to click on Edit Source to find what style had been applied to the heading, in my case it was "ms-rteElement-H2B". I then went into the new layout ASPX in SharePoint Designer and changed:

I saved the page and the ToC was populated. Still needs a bit of work, I think I'll try working the ToC into a copy of my existing EnterpriseWiki.aspx to preserve the available styles.
If any of that was to vague give me a shout and I'll try explain in more detail, bearing in mind I'm learning this as I go along.
I have also found an article,

Multi-page tables crashing in InDesign

Could anyone please provide some general advice about working with multi-page tables in InDesign, which appear to be very unstable.
Over the past year or so, my team and I have worked with InDesign 5 and 5.5 on both Mac (10.6) and Windows (XP and 7) machines. In that time we have found if there’s one thing that will cause InDesign to crash it’s a table that runs over several pages and particularly (though not exclusively) if it’s got merged cells. Add that extra row, merge that extra cell, even just insert your text cursor as you prepare to change some text and InDesign seems to reach a point where the “straw breaks the donkey’s back” and it falls over. At least it usually has the courtesy to reopen at exactly the point where the crash occurs with all the other changes that have been made still in place, whether they have been manually saved or not.
The really weird thing is that sometimes the same file will crash on all the machines at the same point (as you would expect) but sometimes the files which crash on Windows machines will work fine on Macs and the files which crash on Macs will work fine on Windows machines. There doesn’t appear to be much of a consistent pattern to what’s going on.
However, the solutions are always the same. First, unmerge any merged cells and adjust the border/fill commands to hide the fact they are now unmerged and then, if that doesn’t work, split the table up into separate chunks and put them into a separate text box on each page - that always seems to fix the problem, although the benefits of linked text boxes are now lost.
I’ve had a scoot round the web and on these forums and whilst I can find quite a lot of material on this topic, there doesn’t appear to be anything that relates to our issue directly. I realise that I haven’t given specific information on what happens to us because it’s just something that happens every so often and we’re usually working so fast that there’s no time to carry out a detailed analysis of what’s going on, we just fix it and carry on. I’d be grateful if anyone could offer a general overview of what’s happening and maybe suggest some preventative measures we could take to reduce/eliminate the chances of this happening in the future.

I have a similar problem with several dokuments running tables over 20 to 30 pages. Since InDesign CS5 I have crashes on random times and issues. I have built up the whole Document from scratch, because I thought saving them from older versions might cause the problem. I have started with a new document editing a table that runs over 5 pages with no merged cells in it which I had before. Now InDesign starts to crash again.
– It crashes when I type more text than fits in the table cell
– It crashes when I try to apply the standard paragraph style
– It crashes altough I have saved an .idml-File to clean it
– The problem appears in CS6 and CC also
– I have tried copy/paste to a new document, which worked until I copied a particular table row. Then it started to crash again.
Something weird I recognized is that all umlauts (I'm writing german text) are shown with wrong symbols in Story Editor (Textmodus) but not in the table itself. Maybe there lies the main problem?

Older Business HTML and Dynamic Page Table question

I am not sure if anyone will know here (or if this is the best place to post), but I have a question concerning using the Business HTML template library controls/API for use with ITS. I am attempting to use the "Dynamic Page Table" control, and have hit some problems. Does anyone have any example code they can share on getting this to work correctly (ie, paging through records, selecting from rows, etc)? I have "torn apart" the underlying Javascript and even modified my code to adjust for some formatting issues that the API's do not handle, however, my "pages" all display at once in the beginning and only hide when I use one of the paging icons (forward,back,all back, etc). THe "isVisible" parameter seems to do nothing for the "page" DIVs. Currently running the latest version of ITS and R/3 4.6b on the backend if that helps. Also, the example from the SAP Design Guild cookbook is very basic and does not "page" as I need. Thanks in advance!

Fill up or across cells in pages table

Does anyone know if you can "fill" cells with a formula up or across a pages table as you can in numbers?

In Pages 5, you can fill in any direction. Just Select the cell or cells and Drag the Yellow Dot in the middle of the selection border.
In Pages 4, the Fill Handle is always in the lower right corner of the selection, and you can drag / fill in any direction.
If you Fill from the Menu line, use Format > Table > Fill and choose the direction.

Yes, we do this by extending controller, but you can also try this without extending controller.
1. Create Submit Button on TableRN using personalization.
2. Set "Destination URI" property to like below
OA.jsp?page=/<yourname>/oracle/apps/ak/employee/webui/EmpDetailsPG&employeeNumber={@EmployeeId}&employeeName={@EmployeeName}&retainAM=Y&addBreadCrumb=Y
Give your custom page path instead of EmpDetailsPG.
EmployeeId and EmployeeName are VO attributes(Table Region)
If you dont have desired attribute in VO, then write logic in your custom page controller to get required value using parameters passed from URL path.
In this case, only personalization will do our job. Hope it helps.

Pages table

can a pages table row grow automatically onto a new page if there are more lines of text than estimated?

No table placed with Arrange > Stay on Page, and any Text Wrap setting will automatically split and place table row text overflow on a new page. The row cell will expand to the bottom of the current page boundary, and then truncate.
A table placed with Arrange > Move with Text, and Inline with text, will split the table, and continue the overflow row containing the text on the next page. Apparently, one gets a single fluke chance to make this work, as afterwards, any Arrange > Move with Text wrap attempt, automatically selects Arrange > Stay on Page, and no row split occurs. Deselecting, and reselecting the table makes no difference in this result. No amount of subsequent retries can trick this into working again.
If you are counting on a table row that overflows to automatically split onto the next page, you will not find that feature very reliable, if at all possible, in Pages v5.2.2.

MSI GT60 0NE VT-x with Extended Page Tables disabled

Hi,
My MSI GT60 0NE came pre-installed with windows 7. I have upgraded to windows 8.1 and want to run an Ubuntu 64 bit using virtual box. However, it seems virtual is disabled and can only install 32 bit Ubuntu. I was able to run Ubuntu 64bit using windows 7. How can I fix this? This is my cpu report:

I have solved the issued. The was caused by Hyper-V

Pages table cannot be edited any more

I have quite a large Pages document which is essentially a journal for each day of the week. Each day has 2 tables in it. One of them cannot be edited any longer going back to much earlier in the document. The other table is OK. Both tables are only 5 or 6 rows and never larger than 1 page. This has suddenly happened.
Just preceding this the Pages document could not be opened from either the current or backup file from a few minutes ago. The message just said 'unable to open pages document', not very useful really.
I retrieved a version from yesterday using time machine, but as I said above one of the series of tables cannot be edited any more.
I am Using Lion - recently upgraded I am sorry to say as this is one of many issues.
I am using Pages version 4.1 (923)
The pages document is 132 pages long.
