you may have a strong wifi signal but what kind of speed are you getting,
are you able to connect to wifi and see if it goes any faster then?
it might just be that the cellular data connection is slow

Browser pages take forever to load
Every time I open Safari or Firefox, the pages take forever to load. I keep getting the color wheel and often have to force quit. I don't think it's the internet signal because I've tried it in 2 different locations (home and work) and the results are the same. I can't load videos (like those on Hulu). My computer memory is about half full, so I don't think it's that. This is a recent problem (within the last week). Any suggestions?

OS: Windows 7 pro, updated daily as needed. This is a self built HIGH END computer, with a Quad processor, we'll leave it at that. I have a Cable connection: download speeds 1.5MBs. When I load Firefox 3.6.8 or 3.6.10 version, web pages take several minuets to load if at all. When I reinstall the basic Firefox 3.6 version over the 3.6.10 version, ALL web pages load instantly! I want the increased security of version 3.6.10 Firefox, but it will just NOT RUN on my computer!!
same problem here for the past two days till this morning when I created a new profile and removed ALL addons from the default profile. With the new profile with NO addons, I got to the sites with video that I had problem with and flash player did work.
Now, I only have three addons that have not created the problem; adblock, flashgot, and flashblock.
Create a new profile and check it out. -
My home movies take forever to load when using apple tv..help
Ive got a new iMac, apple tv and airport extreme. Regular movies stream just fine. I moved a home movie into the movies folder of itunes and when I try to play it on apple tv it takes extremely long to even load. I just switched the network the 5ghz but that doesn't help. Can anyone help?
Likely to be slow LAN connection - if possible try a direct ethernet connection to router to see if it makes a difference.
Have you tried with the old router?
As digital copies will usually be less than 5Mbps and standard def you don't need blistering LAN rates, but if slower than this they will need to prebuffer.
If not a connectivity issue (describe how all equipment is connected in the LAN and wi-fi type if any), then consider itunes library corruption (create a new library with a few things in to test) and also security software that may see repeated access from AppleTV as a threat and be slowing/blocking it (eg NetBarrier).

It takes forever to load web pages. Is it possible I have a virus eventhough I keep scanning for them?
Your internet experience is dependent upon several different factors. I doubt a virus is the problem.
1) when you type in an address or click on a link your service provider's computer must turn the URL into an IP address - the computer that does this is called a Domain Name Server (DNS). Many ISPs have slow DNS servers. If it takes a long time for the page to start loading but then loads quickly that might be your problem. OpenDNS provides a free DNS server that is very fast.
2) the connection between your computer and router. I assume you are using WiFi - hold down the Option key and click on the WiFi menu item in the menubar. The RSSI indicates signal strength / quality and the farther away the value is from 0 the lower the quality. something between -60 to 60 is a good signal. If it is in the 80s or higher (or -80 or lower) you might try changing the channel and/or moving the base station.
3) your internet connection. Go here to see how fast your connection is. Your connect speed will be dependant upon your WiFi connection, your ISPs internet service, and how fast the connection is between your city and the testing city. If you suspect your WiFi service is all or part of the problem you'll want to fix that before running the test - or connecting with an ethernet cable would bypass the WiFi problem. Of course you'll need a dongle (or a different computer) to test that way.
My ISP is TimeWarner and at least for a while TW was notorius for having slow Domain Name Servers. I switched to OpenDNS and haven't looked back. -
I have a HP laptop & Dell desktop with IE7 and Firefox. I use Firefox more as I like it better than IE, yet the pages in Firefox load so slow. I thought the new version of Firefox was so much faster, but it seems to drag along and take forever to load pages. Why is this??

Im having problems loading some pages - takes forever and sometimes never load and freezes everything else up. Its as though Ive pick up a trojan or something (had problems in my pre Mac days). Any suggestions on what i can do or how to find out what the problem might be. Using this site wasnt a problem, pages loaded normally. Seems to be when im on comercial sites and searching for items.
I use firefox.
ThanksHi - sorry for late reply. I tried all you suggested and it made no difference to begin with, i couldnt even open this page to reply to you, which is why i havent replied before now. But the next day - all seemed significantly better. Maybe using Ghostery takes time to have an effect. Its something i didnt know about so i am extremely greatful for the advice.

No matter what wi-fi I'm connected to or browser I'm using, webpages take forever to load or they never load at all. Other computers do not have any problems. How can i fix this?
I've tried safari, chrome, firefox...I've cleared the cache as well. This has been going on for several months and used to be tolerable as it was not every website. Now it has become every website and is impossible to deal with. My roommates computer and my cell phone connect fine. I'm fully connected to the router yet websites don't load. I'm using 10.7.5. Thank you!!Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a diagnostic test. It’s unlikely to solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
The purpose of the test is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party software that loads automatically at startup or login, by a peripheral device, by a font conflict, or by corruption of the file system or of certain system caches.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards. Boot in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. Note: If FileVault is enabled on some models, or if a firmware password is set, or if the boot volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, with limited graphics performance, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and Wi-Fi on certain models. The next normal boot may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually login automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem? After testing, reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of the test. -
Since updating to ios7 my ipad freezes, randomly zooms in and out, black pages that take forever to load and battery charge doesn't last very long. It's very frustrating, is there anything I can do it seems to have a mind of its own
(A) Reset iPad
Hold down the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears
Note: Data will not be affected.
(B) Reset all settings
Settings>General>Reset>Reset all settings
Note: Data will not be affected but settings will be reset. -
firefox is taking way too long to load pages. I have a very fast internet connection but firefox takes forever to load websites. At first it worked fine and very fast but now very slow??

A pop up asked if I wanted to install the latest version of Thunderbird. I clicked yes, and nothing has worked since. Videos won't load, sites take forever to load if they do at all. I clicked on Thunderbird 'about' and it showed it was attempting to load verision 12.1. My last version was 3.1. I deleted the Thunderbird application and installed a 3.1 version I had backed up. Everything is still not working right.
How do I fix this? Thanks Zenos. I have an iMac OS10.6.8 When Thunderbird was installing the latest version is when this problem started. And the problem IS with my browser. I realized the problem started when I said 'yes' to installing the latest version. When I checked preferences I noticed Thunderbird was attempting to load version 12.1 It had been running for days and only 159 kbs had loaded . I didn't know how to stop it, so I just trashed the Thunderbird app, but that didn't help. I'm not very techy to say the least, but it seems like there might still be something running in the background that is slowing up everything else on my computer. Anyone have any ideas?
Thanks for the reply. -
Firefox (for android) takes forever to load or doesn't load at all
Firefox will not load or takes forever to load (i.e. up to 3 or 4 minutes) mostly, I get an "unable to connect" "offline mode" error. Other apps that use data are able to connect to the network, but FF...not so much.
I'm on a Nexus 5 running kk 4.4.2fixed the "offline mode" problem by following the about:config directions

unfortunately, pages still take so long to load it basically renders Firefox useless. -
Question 1: new website takes forever to load.
I just published my first website. The first page is all words and yet it takes forever to load. Why is this?
The site is: http://shortpoem.org/
Any suggestions on how to speed things up? Thank you.
(The credit page mentions Sandvov, however I removed those pages.)It could be that the audio track is the biggest part of the file size. CD audio (AIFF format) is about 10MB's per minute and, if that's what you used, reducing the quality and adding compression could dramatically reduce the file size.
iTunes can open AIFF and convert it to AAC or MP3 formats. Use half the frequency (22050) and a bit rate of 96 to get it down in size.

Small Quicktime movies & music show as 'Q' icons - take FOREVER to load
I have a site - joelplimmer.com (I created a re-direct - it's my iWeb .Mac site really) and the Quicktime content is taking forever to load - it USED to load fairly quickly - I have gone into 'package contents' in my 'domain' file in application support and looked at which files are too large - strangely, most are < 10 meg, but many of those are ones that take forever to load. I've minimized some of the larger files I had on the site - still no luck on .Mac (it looks fine when I publish to a folder, of course). So, I tried deleting EVERYTHING in my joelplimmer.com folder on my iDisk and re-publishing from scratch, STILL the same thing. I have tried this from different computers, both Mac & PC - with the same result. Does anyone know what could be the problem?
Of course it takes ages to load.
4 movies on a page, 6 audio files on a page, I lost count. I left before the encore.
Most problems are not technical.
Just using your brain will solve them. Try it.

When will FCPX be able to import Panasonic FZ-150 1080p/60 video? The only format supported now is interlaced 1080i/30. Are there any third-party options of getting 1080p/60 into FCPX now?
