dont know what to do. i cant open my ipad. it just turned off. help me pls

If you are sure that the battery didn't die on you and that the battery has some power left in it, reboot the iPad and see if it starts up.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.

  • Just updated to Mavericks and can't open spread sheets in numbers

Just updated to Mavericks and can't opean spread sheets, says I must update numbers but numbers is already updated?

    Hi REBOS1,
A key point in the article to which YeOldMacFan links is that you now have two versions of Numbers on your Mac, the new version in your main Applications folder and the old version in a subfolder named iWork '09.
Both versions can coexist on your Mac, even run at the same time, but you need to make sure you are opening a particular document with the correct version. The old version can't open documents that have been edited in the new version, and that's probably the reason you are getting the error message.
If you have old documents, it's best to make copies of them and open the copies in the new version, leaving the orginals unchanged.

  • HT5037 I now can't open iPhoto! have just updated it, downloaded everything they asked for and still can't open it!

I now can't open iPhoto! have just updated it, downloaded everything they asked for and still can't open it!

To be able to help, we will need more details.
What is your current iPhoto version, Anthony?  And your MacOS X version? And what was the iPhoto version you upgraded from?
What happens, when you try to open your iPhoto library?
have just updated it, downloaded everything they asked for and still can't open it!
You say, you downloaded everything - did you download the Library upgrader? And did you install and run it? Was there any error message?
If your iPhoto library has been upgraded ny the upgrader, you should be able to upgrade it to your current iPhoto version by double clicking it to launch iPhoto on it. Have you tried that?  What happens when you try?
One problem to check for - iPhoto may be unable to open your iPhoto library, if it is not on a dsk formatted MacOS X Extended (Journaled). Check the formatting of the drive with your iPhoto library.

  • Pages 5.2 won't open older docs

After upgrading Pages to v5.2, when I try to open older documents, I get this prompt: "you need a newer version of Pages to open this document" I've uninstalled all other versions of Pages, and reinstalled Pages v5.2 but still can't open my existing files.
Help in opening these docs would be apprieciated.

You have 2 versions of Pages on your Mac.
Pages 5.2 is in your Applications folder.
Pages '09/'08 is in your Applications/iWork folder.
You are alternately opening the wrong versions.
Pages '09/'08 can not open Pages 5 files and you will get the warning that you need a newer version.
Pages 5.2 can open Pages '09 files but may damage/alter them. It can not open Pages '08 files at all.
Older versions of Pages 5 can not open files from later versions of Pages 5.
Once opened and saved in Pages 5 the Pages '09 files can not be opened in Pages '09.
Anything that is saved to iCloud and opened in a newer version of Pages is also converted to Pages 5 files.
All Pages files no matter what version and incompatibility have the same extension .pages.
Pages 5 files are now only compatible with themselves on a very restricted set of hardware, software and Operating Systems and will not transfer correctly on any other server software than iCloud.
Apple has removed almost 100 features from Pages 5 and added many bugs:

  • Upgraded to Yosemite and cant open iPhoto!  Saw an update for app but it won't let me; says not available for this AppleID because it was bought by a diff user or item was refunded.   Not so. What now?

UPgraded to Yosemite and now I cant open iPhoto.  App says it needs to be updated but yet I cant udate cause it says update not available for this ID cause it was bought by another user (I only have 1 Apple Id) or item was refunded or cancelled.  ANY IDEAS?  Thnx!

Perform the following, stopping with the first one which works:
    1. Open the Mac App Store's Purchases tab. If you're prompted to accept it and the other iLife/iWork applications into your Apple ID, do so.
    2. Move them out of the Applications folder(they may need to be put into the Trash temporarily), and then see if you can download them for free from their individual product pages. If you're asked to buy them, see #3.
    3. Click here, contact Apple, and wait for a response.
    4. Buy them.

  • I cant open email attachments since ios5 update

Since updating to ios5 I cant open email attachments, (word, excel or pdfs)- help please!

Please follow these directions to delete the Mail "sandbox" folders. In OS X 10.9 there are two sandboxes, while in 10.8 there is only one. If you're running a version older than 10.8, this comment isn't applicable.
    Back up all data.
Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:
    ~/Library/Containers/com.apple.mail
Right-click or control-click the highlighted line and select
    Services ▹ Reveal
from the contextual menu.* A Finder window should open with a folder named "com.apple.mail" selected. If it does, move the selected folder—not just its contents—to the Desktop. Leave the Finder window open for now.
Log out and log back in. Launch Mail and test. If the problem is resolved, you may have to recreate some of your Mail settings. You can then delete the folder you moved and close the Finder window. If you still have the problem, quit Mail again and put the folder back where it was, overwriting the one that may have been created in its place. Repeat with this line:
    ~/Library/Containers/com.apple.MailServiceAgent
Caution: If you change any of the contents of the sandbox, but leave the folder itself in place, Mail may crash or not launch at all. Deleting the whole sandbox will cause it to be rebuilt automatically.
*If you don't see the contextual menu item, copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination  command-C. In the Finder, select
    Go ▹ Go to Folder...
from the menu bar and paste into the box that opens by pressing command-V. You won't see what you pasted because a line break is included. Press return.

  • I just updated to Mavericks and now my iPhoto won't open

I just updated my imac to mavericks, now my iphoto wont open. how do I fix this

Ah, thanks for the correction Terence.
I didn't realise the earlier versions still worked. I know that when I upgraded to Mavericks I then had to upgrade from iPhoto 9.4.3 to 9.5 in order for it to work. I guess we need to know which version Ibarber4 is currently having problems with.

I have aperture 3.4.5 but si not available the uograde at 3.5 and i can't open my library after the update to' maverick

    Marco,
is your main system language set to English? If not, change the language to English in the "Language&Region" System Preferences  (see: Re: I bought Aperture in a box et can't upgrade from 3.4.5 to 3.5.). Then sign back into AppStore and reload the Updates panel.
Other things that could prevent the update are, if you moved Aperture from the Applications folder or renamed it. Then put it back.

  • Really slow open and save times since updating to Maverick, anyone else had this problem?

Ive got a macbook pro retina (early 2013) and since I updated to mavericks OS X 10.9.1 opening saving even small files in photoshop and illustrator takes a really long time, ny idea why this might be?

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a diagnostic test. It’s unlikely to solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
The purpose of the test is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party software that loads automatically at startup or login, by a peripheral device, by a font conflict, or by corruption of the file system or of certain system caches.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards, if applicable. Start up in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. You must hold down the shift key twice: once when you turn on the computer, and again when you log in.
Note: If FileVault is enabled in OS X 10.9 or earlier, or if a firmware password is set, or if the startup volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to start up and run than normal, with limited graphics performance, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and Wi-Fi on certain models. The next normal startup may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually login automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem?
After testing, restart as usual (not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of the test.

  • Cant open iCloud docs numbers or pages

For some reason I can't open any of my iCloud documents in Numbers or Pages. I just get errors like this
    Number 3.1 (1769)
    Pages 5.1 (1769)
    OS X 10.9.1 (13B42)
I've signed in and out of iCloud. I've unchecked and rechecked the documents box and restarted my computer.

    The problem went away.

  • Pages '09 refuses to create/open existing doc after Lion upgrade

Ok, I just upgraded to Mac OS X Lion (10.7), now when I lauch Pages (version 4.1 build 923), it hangs at the template chooser and never returns. If I disable the template chooser at startup and attempt to open a document created previously, I am presented with an error dialog that says "The document <document name> could not be opened".
I've tried deleting the pages preference files from ~/Librrary/Preferences but no success resolving the problem. Since I didn't purchase Pages from the App stored but instead from the Apple Store, I don't have the option of deleting the application and reinstalling it and since I'm out of town and have no media with me, It appears my options for resolving this issue are nil.
Any suggestions on how I can repair my installation short of a full reinstall? BTW, I've also run disk utility both in recovery mode and while logged in to repair any damaged perms.
    Thanks,
    Scott

In this case, it may be a good idea to download the free Onyx (dedicated to Lion) and use it to repair permissions and make a serious cleaning in caches files.
Caches from an old system may behave wrongly with a new one.
Now for me it's time to switch off.

  • Cant open ical after doing program update

I recently did some updates on my computer. when to open Ical and this was my error message:
“Calendar Cache” could not be moved because you do not have appropriate access privileges for “Calendars”.
To view or change access privileges, select the item in Finder and choose File > Get Info.
It will not let me in or see any part of my calender. I have searched around my computer, but have no idea as to what the message wants me to do. Cant even tell you what version I have because it wont tell me anything. But my computer is about a year old.
    Any help is greatly appreciated.

    pascale,
Quit iCal and navigate to your Macintosh HD/Users/yourusername/Library/Calendars Folder, and find the "Calendar Cache" file. Drag that file to your trash and restart iCal.
The Calendar Cache file will be rebuilt and hopefully iCal will once again function properly.

  • Cant open Mail after Mountain lion update

So I updated my Macbook pro to mountain lion 10.8.2 and now when I go to open mail it says version 6.1 of mail cant be used  with this version of os x

Hi no real idea on this, but many Network connectivity issues have been solved by this...
Make a New Location, Using network locations in Mac OS X ...
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2712
    10.7…
System Preferences>Network, top of window>Locations>Edit Locations, little plus icon, give it a name.
    10.5.x/10.6.x/10.7.x instructions...
System Preferences>Network, click on the little gear at the bottom next to the + & - icons, (unlock lock first if locked), choose Set Service Order.
The interface that connects to the Internet should be dragged to the top of the list.
Instead of joining your Network from the list, click the WiFi icon at the top, and click join other network. Fill in everything as needed.
For 10.5/10.6, System Preferences>Network, unlock the lock if need be, highlight the Interface you use to connect to Internet, click on the advanced button, click on the DNS tab, click on the little plus icon, then add these numbers...
    208.67.222.222
    208.67.220.220
    Click OK.
    Also, turn off IPv6:
    System Preferences » Network » AirPort » TCP/IP tab » Configure IPv6
    Or whatever Interface you use.
