Pages with Templates not updating?

I made a template page (saved in templates folder), then did a SAVE AS to create my other pages.
When I tried to update a template (repeating region), it does not seem to update the other pages (files updated = 0)
The site is managed as well.
HELP!!! It's driving me nuts!

Oh wait, I read your initial post more closely. You did not create your pages correctly. You do not use SAVE AS from your template file to create the other pages.
What you do is create your template and 'Save as Template'
Then to actually build your pages, File => New => Page from Template (see image)

  • Templates not updating child pages

I am running DM CS3, Version 9.0, Build 3481. When I have the
HTTP address listed in the box on the Site Definition page (Local
Info), any changes that I make to a template are not saved in the
child pages when I save the template. I have the Links set relative
    to Document.
If I remove the HTTP address from the box in the Site
Definition page, the template changes will be saved in the child
pages. If I click to Remote Server and then back to Local Info, the
HTTP address is inserted back into the HTTP box. I have to remove
it and hit OKAY and DONE in order to have the template update
    properly.
I did not have to do this before. I have reloaded DM CS3, so
maybe a switch is set somewhere to cause this issue. Does anyone
know how to fix this permanently?

Sure. It's Dreamweaver MX Templates by Brad Halstead and myself - ISBN 0-7357-1319-7.  I spend quite a bit of time explaining nested templates.  Sadly, nowhere do I say you should avoid them.  But you should.
There is a master template that controls top level navigation and then five child templates that give different left-side navigation based on which section of the site the user is in. You can see this in action at www.homerenergy.com.
You should see how easy this is to do with server-side includes and a single template file.  It's the best of both worlds.
You can see this in action at www.homerenergy.com.
Yep.  http://validator.w3.org/unicorn/check?ucn_uri=http://www.homerenergy.com/&ucn_task=conform ance - even if you would leave the nested templates in place, you would sure want to fix those.
The section-specific navigation is very easy to manage either with template conditionals or with server-side includes.  You can see this site - http://www.ent-sys.com - where I have done the section navigation on interior pages with template conditionals.
However, your site is small, and simple.  Nested templates can work OK in such circumstances.  But I have never seen a use of nested templates that couldn't be done more simply with some other approach.

  • Pages and Child Templates Not Updating

I'm having a problem in Dreamweaver CS5 where pages and child templates are not receiving updates made to the parent template. When I update the template, sometimes some files using that template will update, and some will not. Repeatedly updating the template sometimes forces the changes, but other times it does not.
For instance I was working on a 50 page site earlier, made up of 1 master template with 5 child templates. I made changes to the master template, and it went through the update process, saying all the child templates and files have been updated. However when I open some, not all, files, they are not updated.
I manually went through the entire site and hit 'update page from template', and that seemed to work. I opened a different site with only 1 template, did an update, and it only updated some of the files. I updated the template again, saved, and it then proceeded to update a few more randomly selected files.
This was happening sometimes in CS4, but in CS5 it has become a bigger problem. Please let me know how this can be resolved.
Edit: This is on a freshly reinstalled CS5 with all updates.

  • Issue with templates and updating .html pages in my website

    Hello,
I have taken over updating a website for the charity I work for. I have updated some eleements of the .dwt template page, however it does not seem to be updating the other .html pages for the website. I do not get the update pages box just a box saying 'You placed the editable region "breadcrumbs" inside a block tag. Users of this template will not be able to create new blocks in this region. Move the region outside the block tag if you want users to be able to do this" - I click OK and it saves the .dwt page, but does not update any other .html pages.

  • Dreamweaver CS6 Templates not updating pages since i copied the website to a new computer

Dreamweaver CS6 Templates not updating pages since i copied the website to a new computer
First i install CS6 on the new computer
    copy the projects
    import the websites
Now, when i change any template the pages do not update any more. New pages working correct. Also manuell updating works.
    Any Idea?
Where are the info about the join template and the pages. Seems on the old computer - but where?
    Thx

    hm?
now I made a new page from the template on the new machine - and find one difference:
    New Page:
    <!doctype html>
    <html lang="de"><!-- InstanceBegin template="Templates/mainvorlage.dwt" codeOutsideHTMLIsLocked="false" -->
    <head>....
    Old Page:
    <!doctype html>
    <html lang="de"><!-- InstanceBegin template="/Templates/mainvorlage.dwt" codeOutsideHTMLIsLocked="false" -->
    <head>...
The slash / after template=" is not there on the new machine. If i remove the slash on the copied pages and restart dreamweaver then it works. A lot of work, but i can solve my problem this way.
Maybe there is some checkbox for path handling...?

  • Pages app is not updating from iCloud

My pages app is not updating from iCloud after I installed the new ios8 and of course an update to the Pages app. Did follow the recommendation not to upgrade to the iCloud Drive on initial upgrade to iOS 8.
When I log on line - on the iCloud site, I am able to see all the documents. These also appear on my windows iCloud Drive (Of course the updating is so slooooow  ).
    Have tried the following:
    1. Enabled Pages to update via iCloud and iCloud Drive - documents not updated
    2. Enabled Pages to update via iCloud and DISABLED iCloud Drive - documents not updated ( Pages update via iCloud switches off by itself)
please if any one has a solution to this Help!
or it means just be patient and it will eventually down load the documents. So Frustrating  !

    Sorry, misunderstanding.
I've purchased Pages from iTunes two/three months ago and all worked fine on both iPhone and iPad.
Now here is the problem mentioned above: after upgrading iOS, it is disappeared from both devices still remaining on iTunes.. but I'm not able to re-install it by each other syncronization (as I can for all the other apps) as usual.

*** is up with itunes not updating my info. the problem I am still having after 3 weeks is I can not update my credit card/debit card info because itunes says my billing information does not match my bank records. I know this is lunacy because the info I put in is completely correct, i even contacted my bank 3 times to make sure they had my info correct. so obviously something is completely ******** with itunes/iphone in which I cant update my info. **** I cant even download a free app, because it says my info has changed, and I need to change it. when i do, it gives me that stupid message about my info not matching my bank records. Something needs to be done asap.

does itunes support ever respond to these forums??

  • Dreamweaver template not updating Contribute pages

Currently I'm trialing Dreamweaver (MX) and Contribute
    (3.11), to check
that it's a workable solution for my company, in terms of
    editing and
auditing, but right now I'm having a problem.
I have some templates (.dwt files) that I create in
    Dreamweaver, for
use with Contribute, i.e. I create the template, other people
    create
the content for our site based on the those templates.
The issue is that when I make a change to the template, I
    would expect
the pages created in Contribute to be refreshed to use the
    new
template, but that doesn't appear to be happening. The only
    way I can
get the page to be updated is to edit the page in Contribute,
    go to the
Format menu and choose 'Template Properties', then hit OK
    again to
close this dialog. I then see the page refresh with the new
    template
    changes.
Am I doing something wrong? I would expect, as I mentioned,
    to have all
pages automatically updated when the template is saved, and
    published.
Is there a setting I need to turn on, or a procedure of
    publishing the
template that I need to adhere to?
    any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks for the reply Mark. While I think I've found most of
the things you mentioned since my first post, it is useful to get
confirmation of my finding, which appears to be consistent with
    your post.
Here's what I've found, and later, why I'm not really liking
    it:
If I edit the .dwt file in Dreamweaver and try to save it, I'm
prompted to only update those files I have locally that reference
    the template.
I can only update those local files that are checked out,
though the saving process will check them out automatically
If I create a new page using Contribute, I must refresh the
    templates first
    My concerns are:
if I can only update those files I have locally, then do I need
to have the whole remote site stored locally too? My company site
is huge (as it's translated into 6 languages) and has multiple
contributors/editors. It sounds like I will have to download the
entire site before I edit a template, and put it back again
afterwards. Is that right?? it sounds rediculous, so I'm sure I've
    got it wrong.
if I have the files locally, I must check them out before or
while saving the template. However, I then have to check them back
in manually. Again, with potentially 300 to 400 pages per template,
that's a lot of manual checking-in. If the saving process can
automatically check pages out, can it also automatically check them
    in again??
Like you, Mark, I find it strange that Contribute requires a
manual refreshing of templates. I've searched all the options I can
find, but I don't see an auto-refresh templates setting, which
would be sooo useful. As it stands I will have to instruct each
editor/contributor to refresh before they create a new page, and
    pray that they do.
any further advice from Contribute/Dreamweaver users would be
greatly appreciated. How do users with very large website handle
this? Are there any tricks or hints that you can pass on?

  • Template not updating pages properly

I have several pages, all started from the same template.  The path to an image in the template is   <img src="../index.php" width="140" height="200" alt="Balgonie Baptist Church Logo">  but on the pages that are updated from this template they are:
<img src="index.php" width="140" height="200" alt="Balgonie Baptist Church Logo">  .  The 2 periods from the source path are not there on the pages.  I think something like this happened before, what am I doing wrong?  I'm a newbe.

#1 .PHP is not an image extension. It is an HTML page containing server-side code.
Images should have file names with .jpg or .png or .gif.
#2 template.dwt files reside inside a Templates folder.  That's why links in templates contain the leading dots -- ../images/somefile.jpg
#3 When you create a new page from template and save it to the root of your site, DW correctly removes the leading dots for you -- images/somefile.jpg.  At least that's how it should work.

  • Template not updating pages on save

I created a template, then created pages based on that template. I make a change to the template, save, it says it will update my 10 pages, then the log shows that 0 pages were updated. I check the pages, they didn't update. What's the problem? Why are my pages not updated?

  • Template not updating linked pages

I've never had this happen before. Any changes i make -
mainly to nav doesn't take in any of the linked pages. Even if I
make a new page directly from the template, then make a change to
the template it doesn't even update the newly created page.
    Using DW MX2004
Anyone ever hear of this? A fix?

Here are seven common mistakes that will result in changes
    not propagating
    from Template to child -
    1. Rename the Templates folder
    2. Move the Templates folder to some other folder level in
    the site other
    than root level
    3. Move a template out of the Templates folder.
    4. Make changes to an editable region of the template (which
    will not
    propagate)
    5. Assume that template changes can be uploaded to the server
    without also
    uploading the changed local files
    6. Corrupt the site cache so that the link between template
    and child page
    is broken
7, Improperly create your child pages by simply opening the
    template,
adding page specific content, and resaving the template with
    an *.html
extension rather that its *.dwt extension. (you can tell if
    this is the case
by looking at the code on a child page - if you see anything
    like <!--
TemplateBeginEditable... then this is what you have done). If
    you *have
done this*, then recreate the child pages (in DWCS3) using
    FILE | New > Page
from Template, select the template and click CREATE.
The 6th problem can be repaired by using SITE | Advanced >
    Recreate Site
Cache, and the six others can be fixed by just not doing
    them. Have you
    done any of those?

  • Dreamweaver Template not updating pages error code 2?

    Hi All
I wonder if someone can help me - I have a site that i made with Dreamweaver. I then got a new computer (windows 7) and updated my dreamweaver from cs4 to cs5. I have just tried to update my pages and it doesnt seems to be working.
Not sure what information you need - but I have a root folder and within the root site there is a folder with Templates and the templates have the extension .dwt
I have read some posts that say recreate the cache which i have tried - this hasnt worked
I then read another post that says you can update the pages by Modify > templates > Update Pages..
When i tried this I get the update dialog box, but when i try to update the pages i get the following error message:
"error accessing file - (name of the dwt file), file not found, error code 2"
Can i ask the what is the error code 2 - i mean is there any information about the error code which will help me to resolve my templates not being found? as i am bit stuck...
Would appreciate any help on this and thank you in advance
    Regards
    Lorna

I would like further help with the issue Guy McMickle identified.
When I update links to my two template files I receive the above Error Code 2 message four times. There are 22 page files based on these templates.
The <!-- InstanceBegin template... code does not exist in either of the template files. I does, however, show up in every one of the 21 files that were created from one of the two templates. In these files it shows up in uneditable header code.
Why does the error code only show up four times? If the instanceBegin code is only generated when a file is created based on a template, how can it be avoided or corrected?

  • Templates not updating their pages

    Hi all,
I created a Dreamweaver template with the main layout of my site with a few editable regions. I also made a few pages from that template, telling Dreamweaver to "update [the] page when [the] template changes". I got some new pages with the non-editable parts grayed out and the editable parts in full color. So far, so good. But when I change something on the template and save it, all of the pages based off of that template do not update with my change. I also cannot manually edit in the change because the region I edited in the template is grayed out, naturally, in the pages based off of the template.
How do I get the template's "child pages", so to speak, to update?
    Thanks,
    Dylan

Ok, I figured it out. I had a duplicate copy of the template for some reason. One copy had children; the other didn't. I was editing the template with no children. When I deleted the childless template and began editing the correct one, I was presented with a wonderful little dialog box asking if I wanted to update the child pages.
Thanks for all of your help,
    Dylan

  • Templates not updating pages at all

I have a similar problem to several other posters. I have one
template that is attached to about a dozen pages. When I make a
change to the template, and then save it, not dialog comes up
asking if I want to update the dependent pages, and the changes are
not reflected in the page, it just saves the document.
If I open one of the dependent pages, and do
Modify>Template>Apply template to page, the changes do show
    up.
I have other sites on this computer where the Template
function works correctly, so it is not a bug or problem with my
Dreamweaver, just this particular template or site. I am using
Dreamweaver 8.0.2 on a Mac Book Pro (the newer Intel one).
You can see the template here:
    http://salidarec.com/Templates/Salida-Rec-Main.dwt
and an example of a dependent page here:
    http://salidarec.com/
As I look at the code, it seems like it makes sense, I just
am at a loss for what to do.
Here is what I have done, all to no avail:
    Recreated the site cache
Manually deleted the site cache files and then recreated them
Made some new test pages using New page from Template dialog
I am aware of the common template pitfalls, and have not done
    any of these things.
    1. Rename the Templates folder
    2. Move the Templates folder to some other folder level in
    the site other
    than root level
    3. Move a template out of the Templates folder.
    4. Make changes to an editable region of the template (which
    will not
    propagate)
    5. Assume that template changes can be uploaded to the server
    without also
    uploading the changed local files
    6. Corrupt the site cache so that the link between template
    and child page
    is broken
    Any suggestions are appreciated.

Export the site definition. Remove the site definition.
