Pages won't open after I downloaded some Apple Updates

First, we are all just users like yourself so it's not "your" updates. Which updates have you applied & in what order?
Quite a few users have had problems. From what I've read of those who have had success, this is what I suggest. It all depends on how you obtained Pages in the first place.
If you bought Pages from the Mac App Store:
Delete the Pages.app from your Applications folder. You will need to enter your password to do so.
Launch Mac App Store  & click on Purchases. You should now see an INSTALL button. Click that, enter your password, if necessary, & you should now have the latest version.
If you installed Pages from a retail box or purchased a license from the downloaded trial:
First, you must make sure the applications are where the installer initially put them. The updaters are very picky. If the location is not where the updater is programmed to look or if the folder doesn't have the name the updater looks for, it will not work. The applications cannot be renamed or moved. All three applications must be in the iWork '09 folder in Applications. That iWork folder must be named iWork '09. If it doesn't have the '09 Software Update won't find them & the updaters won't work.
Now, choose Software Update from the Apple menu, from System Preferences or launch the Mac App Store & click Updates. You should get a window similar to this screenshot. Now click the Update button next to iWork 9.2.
Alternatively, you can download the standalone update here. http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1563

My i-Pad won't charge after I downloaded some stuff from i-Tunes.  I have tried charging through two computers and using the wall socket,, with different cables.  I have turned the i-Pad off & on a couple of times but it still won't charge.  Any ideas will be gratefully received.

The quickest way (and really the only way) to charge your iPad is with the included 10W USB Power Adapter. iPad will also charge, although more slowly, when attached to a computer with a high-power USB port (many recent Mac computers) or with an iPhone Power Adapter (5W). When attached to a computer via a standard USB port (most PCs or older Mac computers) iPad will charge very slowly (but iPad indicates not charging). Make sure your computer is on while charging iPad via USB. If iPad is connected to a computer that’s turned off or is in sleep or standby mode, the iPad battery will continue to drain.
Apple recommends that once a month you let the iPad fully discharge & then recharge to 100%.
How to Calibrate Your Mac, iPhone, or iPad Battery

At this link http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/galaxy-tab-android-tablet,3014-11.html , tests show that the iPad 2 battery (25 watt-hours) will charge to 90% in 3 hours 1 minute. It will charge to 100% in 4 hours 2 minutes. The new iPad has a larger capacity battery (42 watt-hours), so using the 10W charger will obviously take longer. If you are using your iPad while charging, it will take even longer. It's best to turn your new iPad OFF and charge over night. • Firefox won't open after i downloaded a Page Speed browser add-on

I went to Google Webmaster Central. To check my site performance it asked me to :
Install the Page Speed browser add-on
Use Page Speed to evaluate the performance of your pages and get suggestions on how to improve them. Learn more
    Install Page Speed
    Install while using Firefox
The "Install Page Speed" being https://dl-ssl.google.com/page-speed/current/page-speed.xpi
It then asked me to restart firefox. I said ok and firefox switched off but never started again. It won't open when i try to start it again.
I have a lot of saved bookmarks and don't want to loose them. Will this happen if i uninstall and reload firefox or is there a way to get this version working again.

Try opening Firefox in [[safe mode]], whilst in safe mode you can access the add-ons manager and uninstall the Page Speed Browser extension. Hopefully this will resolve your problem.

  • Pages won"t open after upgrade to Snow

Should"ve known there were going to be problems...now after installing snow leopard, my pages will not open, my mail will not open, keynote, numbers. ical...a huge number of issues, and now with schol starting I cannot use my computer to do any work.......Any helpful thoughts would be greatly appreciated
    Tom

    Hi Thomas
The issues most people seem to be having are
    1. Duplication of fonts and some wonky fonts. Check these and fix them in *Font Book.*
    2. That they did not correctly transfer iWork. You can't just simply drag the software over, nor will it work if you had changed the names of the folders they were in. You should have done a full migration or possibly reinstall if you can't get out of the problems.
    3. You need to have upgraded the software to the latest versions.

  • ITunes won't open after I downloaded 11.2

I've hemmed and hawed about updating my iTunes for a while, and the latest glitch made me wish I listened to my instincts.

Much appreciated if someone can help resolve; I've already tried reinstalling, uninstalling+reinstalling and reverting to 10.7 (but that version won't open since the library file's already been updated by 11.2 & thus, unreadable by 10.7.)
    Thanks!

    found this in another post and it worked for me;
OK, so right after posting this I found this advice by complete chance:
If you've already tried a complete uninstall and reinstall try opening iTunes in safe mode (hold down CTRL+SHIFT) as you start iTunes, then going to Edit > Preferences > Store and turning off Show iTunes in the Cloud purchases. You may find iTunes will now start normally.
I opened itunes in safe mode, turned of "show itunes in the cloud purchases" and now itunes works as normal, which is great.  I checked on my girlfriends side of the computer and that box was unchecked on hers which is why it had been working.  I don't use the cloud for anything so I can only assume that itunes was trying to communicate with a cloud (account?) that does not exist and that conflict was causing the program to crash.
If anyone has a better explanation for the Show iTunes in the Cloud purchases feature and why it was messing up my itunes I would love to hear it.  Thanks.

  • Pages won't open after installing new HD

I have a 2009 intel iMac running Snow Leopard (10.6.8).  After installing a new hard drive, the OS, and all my programs, none of the iWork 09 programs (Pages, Numbers, Keynote) will open.  (All other programs work fine.)  For example, when I click on the Pages icon, it says "Pages could not open because of a problem... • ITunes won't open after moving to external HD...HELP please

Needed more room on my Mac HD so I moved iTunes to an external disc. That freed up a lot more space however iTunes won't open! I get error #13014. I downloaded a new version(9.1) onto my Mac and that one won't open.
Can anyone help me with this?
    thanks in advance!
    I'm running 10.6.3, MacPro

I moved the app and Library; I ended up removed all iTunes stuff(except) Library and reinstalled it. It now starts fresh....transferred stuff over however......I can't sync my iPhone...it says there another Library already synced....how do I know which one, I have a few(my fault).
Can I get these cleaned up somehow?
    thanks!

  • Suitcase Fusion won't open after installing the 10.5.8 update - Solution

This is a bit of an open and shut post as I've found the solution, but it's a bit obscure so thought I'd stick it up here in case anyone else had this problem.
After installing the 10.5.8 update, Suitcase Fusion (am using v12.1.7) would bounce once in the dock and then abort. I called Applecare (who had surprisingly not heard of this Application) and they suggested moving the com.extensis.suitcase.plist preferences file to the desktop and restarting my Mac (essentially resetting Suitcase Fusion).
    No joy.
I didn't feel that re-installing Suitcase Fusion was going to do any good, so said thank you and went back to scouring Google …and lo, the solution was there all along…
The problem had something to do with the *Bonjour Name* of my Mac. Apparently, if you have any special characters in your *Computer Name* or if it exceeds 20 characters, then this causes a problem with the *Bonjour Name* and then consequently with Suitcase Fusion …simples.
See? …told you it was obscure.
    Solution:
    1. Open *System Preferences > Sharing*
    2. Change the *Computer Name* to something shorter with no spaces or special characters, something like MyName-MacBookPro
(NB. If you're not logged in as an Admin user, you'll need to click the lock and enter a password first)
    3. Click Edit… to ensure that the .local name is the same
    4. Close *System Preferences* and restart your Mac
And Bob's your Uncle, that should do the trick :o)

That may be, but I didn't find it without considerable digging. And neither Applecare nor Extensis had heard of the problem/solution.
Just thought it would be helpful, that's all.

All other app work perfect, an i have tried everything, restart my ipod, restart the app, eliminate the app and downloaded again, download other apps, and nothing seems to work. What can i do, please help me, this app is the main reason why a i bought my itouch

Did you do a restart or a reset?
Do a reset (Hold Sleep/Wake and Home buttons about 10 secs or more till Apple logo appears)
If that didn't help, you have to write to/wait for the developer to update the software.

  • *** Pages won't open after system re-install

I had to re-install OS X since it was acting funny and after doing a full time machine back up, I can't open Pages or Numbers from iWork '09 anymore. They launch and then immediately crash. I purchased the SN online and don't see where I go to get that number again. I realize I probably need to download iWork '09 again but don't want to buy it twice.
Can anyone help point me to where this SN is? I didn't see it in any email correspondence...
    Thanks in advance!

Since you bought it online you can get the serial number from the list of online purchases in your Apple Store account. Go to the Store tab at the top of this page, click Account (small, faint gray word next to the cart icon in the upper right), click on Downloadable Software Purchases & sign in.

If you purchased it on the App Store, delete Pages on the Applications folder, open App Store > Purchases and reinstall Pages

  • Photoshop won't open after CS2 download.

I just reinstalled CS2 from the download and Illustrator and In Design are fine but Photoshop is called "Space Monkey" when the opening credits run and it is opening, and then a window says "username, serial number or company name is missing or invalid". Why did some programs download correctly, but not photoshop?

Please reference Error: "...user name, organization, or serial number is missing or invalid..." when you start Photoshop Elements 4.0 (on MacOS)- http://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop-elements/kb/error-user-name-organization-or.html which may allow you to resolve your current difficulties.  As for Space Monkey that was the products code name.  I am unsure if this document will allow you to resolve the splash screen issue or not.
Also be aware that you do need Rosetta support to have the possibility of this working on a newer computer.  I would not recommend upgrading to 10.7 or 10.8 as support has been discontinued by Apple.  I believe you currently have Rosetta available to you in 10.6 because you have likely upgraded the OS from 10.5 or earlier on your current computer.

  • Itunes won't open after i download it. How do I Fix it?

I can't really figure it out because i have tries turning off Norton and tried to reconfigure some other internet security but nothing seem to work. I looked at some other posts and they didn't seem to help me. It is a Windows XP computer, Toshiba. It occured when i was trying to update and i had to restart. After i had restarted i couldn't get back into it. It looked as if it were loading and then the loading goes away. The file keeps saying that a file is missing: please redownload. I have uninstalled it and redone all it said to do and it still doesn't work. If you can help please answer this.

YEAH THAT REALLY HELPED AND I FOUND THIS TOO FOR WINDOWS USERS!!
Turn Norton 2005's Personal Firewall OFF, (turn it OFF Permanently until your ready to turn it back on) then click CONFIGURE.
Under the PROGRAMS tab remove any reference to Apple iTunes or iTunes or iTunes Helper Module or anything related. and reboot.
After coming back go back to Norton 2005's Personal Firewall, click CONFIGURE. Under the PROGRAMS tab click ADD at the bottom, a SELECT A PROGRAM
window will pop up. Add the following files one at a time, iTunes.exe, iTunesHelper.exe, QuickTimePlayer.exe, qttask.exe, QTInfo.exe. The last 3 are found
in your Quicktime folder where that is in your system. Click OK. Turn Norton 2005's Personal Firewall ON, and try starting iTunes again.
This worked for me. It seems the Quicktime files were never automatically entered into my Norton 2005's Personal Firewall allowable programs listing. Adding them
manually should help. I also noticed that from my previous version of iTunes the program listed in the Firewall was named Apple iTunes and not iTunes after I upgraded to 6.
Let me know if this works out.
