Pageserver.exe showing high CPU processing on server

We have been running Crystal Enterprise 10 for awhile on the same server.  Starting Thursday evening the pageserver.exe process showing high CPU utilitzation on the server.  We have restarted all the Crystal services through the Central Configuration Manager but the problem still came back.  The high CPU utilitization occurs during the day and at night when no one would be running any reports.  Does any know what else we could look for?
Also does a separate pageserver.exe start for each user that runs a Crystal report, we show about 6-8 pageserver.exe processes at any given time.  Is that normal?  When do these pageserver.exe processes go away.  I logged out of Infoview but a pageserver.exe process did not go away.
Thanks
Adam

  • ICloud Photo not syncing + High CPU process (Win 8.1 pro)

This is a new persistent issue with my iCloud and I can't figure out how to fix it permanently because I was able to fix it few days ago, but issues return back a day later! So here's the full story...
I just received a new (AWESOME!!) Surface Pro 3 i5 256 GB tablet with Windows 8.1 professional. I installed iCloud on it as well as iTunes and Quicktime (the basics isn't it?). When setting up my iCloud account first, everything sync up correctly but after a few days (3-4 days), I notice than my Surface tablet are becoming pretty hot and making some fan noise (common Surface issue) when I didn't use it really. So I checked for a high-CPU process and I noticed than "iCloud Photo Stream Downloader" are stuck at 30-35% CPU for an hours ago. Moreover at this point I realized than my photos are not syncing for a few days. I fix the high-CPU process by rebooting, but my photo are still not syncing at all and after a few minutes after reboot, the "downloader" process stuck back to 30-35% and still not syncing!
So I first try some of the workaround found on the internet like sign out iCloud app, then kill all iCloud related process and delete folder %appdata%/Apple/Mediastream and reboot and sign in... same thing... after a few minutes, high-CPU usage + not syncing! I try to "repair" iCloud installation... same thing (high CPU + not syncing)... I uninstalled iCloud + reinstalled... same thing!
I finally fix the situation by uninstalling ALL Apple related software (iTunes, iCloud, Quicktime, Apple Soft Upd, Apple Mobile Sup, Apple App Sup, Bonjour, etc) and thereafter deleting all "Apple_xxxx" folders in %appdata% and also remove all registry keys from the Windows Registry related to Apple. Reboot then reinstall iTunes first and then run "Apple Soft Upd" to install automatically iCloud + Quicktime... then reboot, sign in and then the photo finally sync this time and no high-CPU process!
But a days later... High CPU + Fan noise on the tablet... so checked and the god **** "iCloud Photo Downloader" are again stuck at 30-35% and no more photo sync (I saw the old photos, but not the last day's photo are not sync).
Anybody experience this situation and know how to fix it PERMANENTLY? I checked at my Apple iCloud LOGS and the only thing I saw that can be suspicious is the last line of the log who's :
    [2472 @ Tue Nov 11 19:45:09 2014] [YSLog ApplePhotoStreamsDownloader.exe] defaults key ShouldLog in domain ApplePhotoStreamsDownloader.exe is (null)
    Please help!!

In fact I discovered later I have this issue on all my Windows computers... both Windows 7 and Windows 8.1, both MACs (BootCamp) or true PC computers. Except only the Surface Pro 3 tablet seem to have the HIGH-CPU process issue, but all my other Windows PCs stopped syncing too after a few weeks or so.
I just build a BRAND NEW HP Pro Desktop computer running Windows 8.1 Professional and a few days later iCloud Photo stopped syncing too... this is the straw that broke the camel's back! This PC is brand new and no other software are installed except iCloud, iTunes, QuickTime and Microsoft Office 2013 (Office 365). PC is brand new (1 week old) and iCloud Photos sync is already broken!
I also have a few Windows 7 PCs at home (HTPCs on TVs) where iCloud Control Panel is installed and after looking at them, they stopped syncing too for a while (many months ago) but I didn't noticed it yet because I don't check photos often on them.
For now I just give up and disabled the iCloud Photo Sync completely on all my Windows PCs. It only sync between my two iPads, my two iPhones and my two Macs computer (MBPr + iMac 27") and that's it... that's sad, but I'm tired loosing my time with that crappy software!
PLEASE APPLE!! MAKE ICLOUD FOR WINDOWS BETTER!!

  • High CPU/Process hang on VDI environment

I have a environment that is currently using Adobe Reader XI running on roughly 125 virtual desktops.
In some of those instances, when adobe reader was launched and closed after, the process hangs up in the background and takes on high CPU. The only means to recover is to open task manager and kill the offending .exe
    Thoughts?

Can you try to disable Protected Mode in Adobe Reader [Edit | Preferences | Security (Enhanced)].

  • Major issues with plugincontainer.exe using high cpu freezing firefox 34

Plugincontainer.exe is ruining my experience with firefox by constantly causing it to freeze due to high cpu use. Please advise of a work around or other solution. Thank you.

The only solution I have found was to downgrade to Firefox version 30.
The odd thing is that the high cpu does not happen on all web sites. wsj.com (Wall Street Journal) is fine, but cspan.org is not.
My PC does not freeze up, but it has a sustained CPU usage of 70 to 80 percent. I am running an Intel Dual Core on Windows XP.
Is this the case that my CPU is just to slow? This should no be the case since version 30 runs at the regular 15 to 30% usage.
Forgot to mention that this is the Adobe Flash player that is causing the high CPU readings.
    Thx

  • Webcached.exe uses all CPU on IAS server

Hi, I'm having trouble with a process called webcached.exe according to Windows task manager, this process takes all available CPU resources, so our IAS server hangs. Anyone why this is? Any help highly appriciated! I'm pretty new to Oracle Application server, and have not experienced this before...
Is there a way to "go around" web cache until this issue is resolved, i.e. not use cache for a while perhaps? Longer responses are better than complete hangups....
I've tried to just stop the webcache process, but this apparently is not the way to go...

Your post is a while ago... but you should upgrade Web Cache to 10.1.2.3, or install it in a separate location and configure it against your backend application. This is supported.
Webcache 9.0.4 is known to have some performance issues :)

You have to log a service request with Oracle Tech Support at http://metalink.oracle.com with full details (OS, CPU, memory), and also export your plan/dataobjects/reports etc. Pl explain when you are facing this scenario, during data population or report viewing etc. What is your client-server config. ? If you are using WinXP - not because of OS limitations -this is only recommended for dev env, and not for active production system.

  • LR4 - dynamiclinkserver.exe causes high CPU utilization

    Hardware / OS
I7 960 CPU, 12GB drives, two 2TB drives internal.   The lightroom catalog is on the 2nd drive.
I hava a master folder called "photos".  Numerous folders underneath that.   It totals to about 200,000 photos.
I right click on photos, start the "synchronize this folder" process.   It does the search, gives me a count of missing photos.   That happens pretty quickly.
I click the synchronize button, it's now 7 hours later.  The CPU's are pegged at 100%
I pull up the task manager
dynamiclinkmediaserver.exe *32 is at 88% CPU.   Doesn't seem to be accumulating an IO accounts
lightroom.exe is about 10% CPU.  Is accumulating read and other counds
I look at the drive meter gadget on my deskop - it shows just very minimal IO
I look at the network meter gadget, it shows very minimal IO
    Any ideas?

And it is STILL in lightroom cc 5.7, exactly as described. My machine is pretty fast and this bug eats it alive.
And it doesn't seem like Adobe cares to fix it.

  • Wmiprvse.exe and high cpu with tzres.dll on 2008 R2

This sounds like a fairly common problem but I am about to go crazy troubleshooting this.  I have a Windows 2008 R2 Standard 64-bit server running RDS session host role as a virtual machine on VMware ESXi 5.0 update 2 with the latest patches and the
latest VMware Tools loaded.  It has an average of about 15 users on it at any given time.  I see CPU start to increase after a while and notice the WmiPrvSE.exe processing (running as Network Service) consuming any available cycles.  Running
Process Monitor I see a bunch of references to tzres.dll stream by.  I enabled WMI Logging and checked but it seems to be a select statement for all processes coming from PID 0.  I tried using NetMon and looking but it doesn't seem to be coming from
a network endpoint.  I looked at the time zone patch from December 2010 as mentioned in other threads but that doesn't install because I guess I am patched past it (Windows Update only has a Silverlight patch remaining).  I tried to look at the threads
through Process Explorer and by taking dump of the process and opening it in Windbg but honestly I'm not really sure what I am looking at.  Nothing looked unusual but again, I'm not very good with those tools.  We are not running WSRM or SMS
    agent.

Any help before I open up a case?

I had the same issue on a 2008 R2 terminal server,, so much research I put into it and not a lot of consistent help on this issue.  I finally ran a
winmgmt.exe /resetrepository  to start the sync over and CPU dropped to normal function.
I have been monitoring it all day and it seems fine, If it comes back I'll set the damn thing on a batch and schedule haha.

  • NMIndexStoreSvr.exe causes high CPU usage

Within 2 - 24 hours after I restart my computer I'll notice that the CPU fan is very loud. When I open Windows Task Manager the CPU is at 95-100% usage. When I look at processes I see that the file "NMIndexStoreSvr.exe" is the biggest culprit. When I end that process, my CPU usage drops to 5% almost immediately.
Ending this process does not seem to affect Itunes. Has anyone else run across this. Is there a fix or a way to keep that file from running when I start up Windows?
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

  • Disco App Server high CPU usage, Disco Applet freezes, tuning possible?

    Hi again,
so I am facing again a dramatic performance issue with our Discoverer.
I have a cross-table report with ten page items, one datapoint, a percentage calculation and a total.
After querying the data from the DB, building the report (calculating total and percentages) takes 50 seconds, Disco Applet is freezed, App Server shows high CPU load (one core about 60%, other three cores about 20%). The report fetches 5600 rows, which is quite nothing.
    Disco Version: 10.1.2.54.25 (CPU IV).
Are there any parameters / settings on the application server to improve the performance at this place?
    Thanks in advance,
    Christian

I found the solution for this special problem: the total in the report was the cause. Without it, the report reacts as I expect it.
Nevertheless, other reports (approx. 300.000 rows of data in a crosstab) with four page items also cause this high CPU load on the AS and freeze Disco for some half a minute. Our costumers do complain about this as it always seems that Disco hung up.
Any suggestions on how to tune the AS?
    Regards,
    Christian

  • Query to find adhoc queries taking high cpu on server

    Hi,
I want to find all the adhoc and other queries consuming high cpu on sql server. sys.dm_exec_cahched_plan will only have cached queries and not the currently running ones.

    Hi Preetha7,
According to your description, if you want to identify the most expensive SQL Server queries based on the cumulative CPU cost, you can use the DMVs of the sys.dm_exec_sql_text , the sys.dm_exec_query_plan and sys.dm_exec_query_stats. For example, you can
refer to the following T-SQL statement.
    SELECT TOP 20
    qs.sql_handle,
    qs.execution_count,
    qs.total_worker_time AS Total_CPU,
    total_CPU_inSeconds = --Converted from microseconds
    qs.total_worker_time/1000000,
    average_CPU_inSeconds = --Converted from microseconds
    (qs.total_worker_time/1000000) / qs.execution_count,
    qs.total_elapsed_time,
    total_elapsed_time_inSeconds = --Converted from microseconds
    qs.total_elapsed_time/1000000,
    st.text,
    qp.query_plan
    FROM
    sys.dm_exec_query_stats AS qs
    CROSS APPLY sys.dm_exec_sql_text(qs.sql_handle) AS st
CROSS apply sys.dm_exec_query_plan (qs.plan_handle) AS qp
    ORDER BY qs.total_worker_time DESC
Or you can run the "Performance - Top Queries By Total CPU Time" report in SSMS. In addition, you can use SQL Server Extended Events session for troubleshooting the high consumed of CPU time. For more information about finding currently session that is costing
    high CPU.

for dwm.exe does not show up as a service that I can stop or restart.  I've read through the various posts about re-registering dmw.exe so that the service shows up again, but nothing has worked.  Since these are application and file servers with
no need for regular desktop use, I don't really need any fancy desktop graphics or performance.  I have the Advanced Performance Options set to 'Background services'.  Can anyone tell me how to stop dwm.exe or at least reduce it's CPU footprint?
    Thanks,
    Joe

    Hi Joe,
Based on my research, On Windows 8 and Windows Server 2012, DWM is used at all times and cannot be disabled.
For more detailed information, please refer to this article:
Desktop Window Manager is always on:
To troubleshoot the high usage of CPU, I would like to recommend to follow this article to collect and analyse the relevant log files and dump files:

If you want to analyse the dump file, I also recommend you can open case and contact Microsoft support.
    I hope this helps.

  • Photos and high CPU activity

Importing photos the CPU runs fast and my laptop runs hot. Checking Activity Monitor, Photos App pushes the CPU well beyond 100%.  com.apple.photos.videoconversionservice does the same. Apparently the 'video conversion' is a default setting for importing videos to enable storing videos in iCloud. However, I don't use iCloud for storing any photos or videos and I don't want to...so this conversion is completely unecessary as well as annoying and a waste of time. It can't be doing my laptop much good either running it at a very hot temperature. I've read others having a similar problem but have yet to see any concrete solutions to the problem. Any thoughts or suggestions?

Thanks for the advice- What do I look for in the console log?
    From Mac Help:
    *Viewing system messages*
While your system performs tasks, it sends messages between applications, processes, and the operating system. Some of these messages are displayed, but most are not displayed because they can be too detailed and technical. If you are a programmer debugging software, or are troubleshooting a problem with a service technician, messages related to the problem may be located system logs. To view these messages you can use the Console utility located in the Utilities folder in the Applications folder.
For more information, Open Console, and then choose Help > Console Help.
Click on the all logs in the source pane on the left - most of the stuff is impossible to figure out but over temperature warnings are clear as is the sleep message that follows it
Also, I'm not sure if it is overheating- it shows high CPU activity even when I first start using my computer (after hours of non use), so it is not hot at all- can it still overheat?
It is possible - the way to find out is to read the log and see what it says
Have you inspected the air vents including the one on the back under the stand?

  • Icons move on screen

I am recently experiencing a problem where, if I don't hit an icon on screen firmly, the complete icon set moves down the screen. I recently moved to release 50.0.0005 but can't remember if problem started then. Has anyone else come across this. Also
