Paging through phones and external simultaneously on UC560

I have a new install that just threw me a bit of a twist. They would like to page through both the phones and an old external paging system. I have previously used an interface between an FXO port and external paging on CUCM and CUMBE with an adapter and an access code to hit the FXP port but I am not sure if I can do both on the UC560 for the same paging code.
Anyone here ever had any success doing both?

Kudos to Daniel (and David's!) suggestion of using a SPA phone for overhead paging with the UC560! We had the amp tied into the FXS port on the UC560, but we still couldn't page both on the handsets and overhead even with a blast group. Also, we noticed that there was a bit of crackling and popping at the start of each page, and all the overhead speakers produced white noise. We bought a SPA504g (we wanted a true display) for $80 on ebay. Popped it open (use tiny flathead to defeat the "tamper-proof" screws in the SPA phone). Cut the speaker wires off the speaker inside and stuck them through one of the screw holes (no drilling needed). Put the unit back together. Used scotch-locks to tie the speaker wires to a pair of wires off of CAT5 that ran to the amp. Voila! Perfect. We actually had to turn the amp volume down. No popping, no crackling, no white noise. We taped the phone down (as you can see by our lovely picture, don't tape down the buttons though) and stuck it on the back wall of the IT closet where we could get to it if needed. Total cost: $82.00 for phone, scotch locks, piece of CAT5, two pieces of tape, and about 30 mins to modify and install. Downside: it uses one phone license.
Don't forget to assign an extension to the new phone and place it in your paging group!

Paging over phones and paging horns in CME

Hi all!
Cisco CME provides mechanisms for paging across phones with ephone-dn configurations, and paging across external paging systems that are connected to either FXS or FXO ports via dial-peer configurations. I have done these numerous times.
Recently I've been receiving requests to be able to dial a single paging extension and have the page go out across the phones and the horns/paging controller simultaneously. Has anyone been able to do this, and would you share the info please?

As per the doc that i shared "InformaCast has no special requirements for how multicast is enabled, and you should use your network vendor’s best practices and design considerations. Multicast is typically routed with Protocol Independent Multicast (PIM) that is deployed in either sparse or dense mode. InformaCast will work with either mode.
For WAN links where your circuit provider will not route your multicast, you can configure GRE tunnels, which carry your multicast traffic from the location where the InformaCast server is located to its recipients. The only traffic that needs to traverse these GRE tunnels is the multicast traffic you might want to route. The tunnels do not need to create a full mesh between sites; they only need to be configured from the hub location to the spoke location(s). Please see the following link for details:

For recipients to receive the audio portion of InformaCast broadcasts, they make requests using Internet Group Management Protocol (IGMP). Connecting iMessages through phone and Mac

I am trying to make my iMessages go through both my phone and my Mac, but can't seem to find the code it asks for on my phone. Any help finding that code?

If on your phone you go to settings -> messages look for forward message. your device should be listed, enable it and a code is asked. After a short time the code will be shown in your messages on your mac.
If you don't receive the code, restart your phone, had that problem and rebooting the phone helped

Paging simultaneously to IP phones and legacy overhead

I just wanted to share something with the community as it is something I have seen a number of posts on and somethign we struggled with as a company before stumbling on this ingenious solution. I can't take credit for this, we found it online (Also sorry if this is a repost)
There is a simple, if somewhat kludgy way to do this. Any time we have a customer who needs to page both to an overhead and the phone simultaneously what we do is purchase a very basic model IP phone such as a 7912.
You then open that phone up and attach a single pair from a Cat5 cable to the leads for the phones speakerphone. Drill a small hole for your cable to come out of the phone and attach the other end of the pair to your overhead paging system. In this way, users need only dial the DN for the IP to IP phone paging and it will broadcast over both the phones and the overhead simultaneously without any sort of complicated additional configuration.
This is handy as a number of people I see on these forums aren't terribly familiar with the command line and this method requires no configuration that can not be done with CCA.
I hope this helps you guys, I know it's certainly been a great time saver for us when installing CME and UC500 systems!

I've never run into any sound quality issues. The overhead pages all sound fine. Additionally I've not had to make any impedence changes. Really the only thing I've ever had to change were just the output levels on the overhead system to raise or lower the volume but this trick has really been a boon to us for situations exactly like you describe. Customers want the transition to be seemless and if anything works differently it becomes a deal breaker. I can't believe Cisco hasn't come up with an official way to universally page but this should do the trick for you.
Unfortunately I've not done any of the actual physical work to hook the cable up to the internal speakers, someone else in my company has always done this. I know we're not the first to do this as we got the idea from someone else online so there may be a video up on youtube.
An additional caveat I would have you be aware of is that if they want ring out over the overhead, you're going to need to use a phone with multiple buttons (unlike the 7912s we typically use). So its a matter of balancing needs of customers against cost.

Also, when I tried to Restore the settings, an Error Message pops up that says " The iPhone software update server could not be contacted. The requested resource was not found.
I'm trying to free up space on my phone by removing [literally] thousands of old photos which were originally synched to the phone, because I had forgotten to uncheck the photos button when I synched it ages ago.
I have also tried synching it on my 24" iMac (running OSX Snow Leopard). But again, when I try restoring the phone through itunes, it says the file is corrupted. It sggests unplugging the device, and then plugging it in again. I have done this numerous times with no success.
I'm guessing it must be because my phone (and versions of iTunes, and OSX) are all too old.
Please can anybody help.

So is your media folder called iTunes Music or iTunes Media? And does it have a folder called Music inside it?
Before going any further you should first attempt to use File > Library > Organize Library > Rearrange files in the folder "<Media Folder>" (ignore if grayed out). This will make sure that any iPod Games or Mobile Applications get placed inside the iTunes Media folder which is needed for portability.
If your iTunes Media folder is called iTunes Music, close iTunes, rename the folder as iTunes Media and start iTunes again. iTunes will automatically adjust. Close iTunes again.
On your external drive rearrange the folders that you have already copied there so that they match the layout in your active library. You should end up with a folder called X:\iTunes where X: is the external drive letter, and the media folder is X:\iTunes\iTunes Media. If the library layout was upgraded then you will need to create a Music folder inside this and move all the artist folders and Compilations into Music. You will also need to copy iPod Games and Mobile Applications from your internal drive into the new media folder. Next copy the files iTunes Library.itl, iTunes Library Extras.itdb, iTunes Library Genius.itdb, sentinel and the folder Album Artwork from the internal drive into X:\iTunes. The preceding manipulations should make the internal and external copies of your library match without you having to copy all of the media over again.
Now hold shift as you start iTunes. Click choose, browse to and open X:\iTunes\iTunes Library.itl.
Finally use File > Library > Organize Library > Consolidate files. This will ensure that any stray files that might have been added from outside your original media folder will be copied into the new one.
You can now reclaim the space used by your library on the internal drive, however before you do so I would advise you to obtain another external drive and make use of this backup tip.

I was in a slideshow, with around 1,911 photos in it. About halfway through, my Macbook ran out of battery. Now when I restarted and charged the Macbook and reopened iPhoto, the slideshow won't advance through photos, and I can't figure out any reason why it would do this.
I thought it may be corrupted, so I deleted and reinstalled iPhoto library, iPhoto itself, and disconnected and reconnected my external HDD.
This didn't work, the photos still won't advance.
I don't know any reason why this would be happening, and there is ample space on my internal drive.
I'm happy to provide more information if needed!

Make a few tests, James, to narrow down the problem and find out, if the slideshow is corrupted, your iPhoto Library, or settings in your account.
To test, if only your slideshow has a problem, create a new slideshow, just for testing. Just use "File > New Slideshow" and add a few photos. Does this slideshow play correctly?
If the test slideshow does not play either, create a new iPhoto Library. Use the File menu in iPhoto: File > Switch to library > Create New. Import a few photos and create a slideshow. Does it play?
If even a new library does not solve the problem, test in a different user account (see this document: Isolating an issue by using another user account - Apple Support):
This process involves creating a new user account, logging in to it, and testing for the issue.
Create a new standard or admin user account in Users & Groups preferences.
Use these instructions for OS X Mavericks.

Optional: If you have any specific files you wish to test with, copy (don't move) those items to the /Users/Shared folder in the Finder.

If you should find, that slideshows only play in a new user account, post back.

I saw cidya aap so i m not sure if it was jailbroken or not before but it is back to normal settings.
My problem started when I tried to sync my music files. I pressed 'sync' all it says is waiting for sync start, preparing to sync and then waiting for the changes to be applied. but it does not sync at all.

If you see the cidya app, your iPhone is hacked with the cutsie term for this being jailbroken. This also means all the built in security has been removed making the iPhone as insecure as an android device.
Restore the iPhone with iTunes as a new iPhone or not from the backup to get rid of that hacking garbage. If the iPhone has hacked to be unlocked, the iPhone will no longer be unlocked when doing so.

Hello cor-el, thanks for your reply. I changed my settings for downloads to desktop and it has appeared on there. When I double click I am asked which program I want to open file. I click firefox and another box "opening install" says I have chosen to open the file which is an application and do I want to save it. This is the only real option so I press save file. I get a box saying this is an executable file which may contain viruses - do you want to run. I press ok and the final box showing C drive file name and desktop appears stating application not found.
This happens the same whenever I try to install.
To my untrained eye the application is not being recognised as an application and I cannot work out how to get it to do that.
My plugin is still showing as out of date.
Is there anything you could suggest. Thanks for your time.

Turn off Find My iPhone in iCloud on the iDevice.
Log out of iMessage, Facetime, remove Apple ID from iTunes & App Store.
Use Settings > Reset > Erase All Content and Settings.
Then set it up as a new iPhone with your own Apple ID.
