Paid for Mountain Lion...need another download sent to me

I installed Mavericks but my computer ran slower so I wanted to go back to Mountain Lion.  Unfortunately my last Time Machine backup gave me Snow Leopard.  (It had been a while since my last backup...)  However, I purchased Mountain Lion (and still have the emailed receipt...thus I can prove I paid for it) so is it possible to get another download sent to me?  I see that it's still available for purchase in the iTunes Store so I'm hoping that means Apple will send me another if I show them the email receipt.  Just don't know how to go about it.
Thanks!

Make sure, of course, you are logged into the same App Store account ML was purchased under. See this page for instructions to show hidden purchases.

    How do I install it?

Look in the Application's folder for Install OS X Mountain Lion.  Double click to start the installer.

In what way is it terrible? Mountain Lion is pretty stable. If you are having problems, most likely they are unique to your particular system and can be fixed. If you don't like some of the new features, that does not constitute reason for a refund.
If that does not suit you, you will have to discuss a refund with Apple, as they are the only ones who can say. Note that the App Store terms do say that all sales are final, so you are not guaranteed a refund, especially since whatever problems you had are not due to defective software.

It's a 4+ GB file. It takes some time if you have a slow Internet connection. You may have lost connection with the server. Try pausing the download for a few second then restarting.

I just downloaded the newest update for mountain lion. After downloading any restarting for installation, I got a message stating that the update cannot be installed due to an error. Yet when I check I have version 10..8.3 and safari version 6.0.3, which the update was for.  Does this mean that the update is iinstalled and the message was incorrect?

Good timing! Oh well, at least you shouldn't have to update again for a while. It will be nice kickstarting your Mac with the very latest System Update knowing any hiccups from 10.8.2 would have been ironed out if they were going to affect your workflow at all.

  • Previously downloaded 'Mountain Lion' - Need to download again.....How??

Hi, i downloaded 'Mountain Lion' software for my macbook air earlier this year, through the apple website and paid for the license etc etc etc.
Recently my macbook crashed and i have had to reboot it and start again from scratch therefore i only have snow leopard again.
Surely i must be able to download my software again for free after paying for it so recently???
    If so how??
    Thanks

Do you have the OS X firewall turned on? Go to System preferences, Security & Privacy and then the Firewall tab. Turn it off if it is on then try the download again.
Note the download is 4+ GBs and depending on the speed of your internet connection can take from 1/2 hour to several hours. If you have a slower internet connection you won't see any progress of the bar for some time.
Check your Applications folder for an entry that doesn't have any extension and some type of funny, incomplete, name. That could be the Lion download and you'll just have to wait for it to complete.

updated my mac to mountain lion 10.7.8.3 and now my app store, mail or facetime won't open. Also, I am not longer able to play videos through firefox. I tried downloading the combo for mountain lion and it refuses to install saying that I need to see developer. Whenever I try to open my appstore, mail or facetime it says that the programmes need to be installed and might not be compatible with this version of mac operating system. Can anyone help me?

It's not a bad install of Mountain Lion. I've had the same thing happen to me, but it affected not only Mail, but a variety of other programs including iPhoto and MS Office, where I had to delete preferences, caches, and reinstall the OS as well as the program itself. I'm still having issues with Mail, so I've gone to another program.
Everything was fine upon the initial install. I restarted my iMac about two weeks after the install, and that's when the issues began to happen. I've reinstalled Mountain Lion twice, but the same issues arise.
As I mentioned above, you'll need to figure out which preferences are causing the issue, then reinstall the program, as a fresh reinstallation will do you no good unless you wipe the drive completely.
Here's a thread that helped me with iPhoto:

Mountain Lion came with Safari 6, so you appear to have an older version of Safari still installed. At some time you appear to have moved or renamed an older version of Safari to your desktop. Make sure you launch the Safari 6 that came with Mountain Lion which is in the Applications folder, and trash that older version.
If you somehow deleted Safari 6 or overwrote it with an older copy, you'll either need to reinstall Mountain Lion, copy Safari 6 from another system running Mountain Lion, or extract Safari 6 from the Mountain Lion installer using Pacifist from Charlessoft. Safari 6 for Mountain Lion is not available as a separate download from Apple, to the best of my knowledge.

  • How do I download Safari for Mountain Lion?

How do I download Safari for Mountain Lion? It's not in the App Store, it is nowhere on the Apple website . . . OK, so I guess it is supposed to be part of Mountain Lion, but I am running Mountain Lion and whatever version of Safari I ended up with would not even run at all . . .  so I trashed it (or at least what part of it I was allowed to trash) and though reinstalling it would be a good idea . . . but I can't find one to reinstall. The latest version I can find is for Leopard, and of course that won't run.
Not to mention that since getting Mt Lion, iPhoto won't run . . . it produces an error message saying I need to check with the developer to make sure it runs with this version of OS X! So I wonder who the developer of iPhoto is, who produces software that is incompatible with Mt Lion???
And even in submitting this there is no option to tag it for any OS later than 10.7.4!!

Since Safari is crashing, post a crash report...   reinstalling the OS X rarely helps a browser crash issue.
If Safari has just crashed, press the Report button on the CrashReporter dialog box to view the crash  information.
Copy/paste the entire contents of the Crash Reporter window into your reply. If the crash report dialog does not appear or the crash is hard to reproduce, crash logs can be retrieved from the ~/Library/Logs/CrashReporter> folder.

I am running Snow Leopard 10.6.8 with bootcamp 3.3 on my Imac 2011. I need to updgrade to mountain lion. If I first upgrade to mountain lion, how do I go about upgrading from bootcamp 3.3 to latest bootcamp for mountain lion?
I have seen a lot of discussions upgrading from Boot Camp 4 to 5 but no answers upgrading from boot camp 3.3 to 5. My worry is that if I upgrade from snow leopard to mountain lion, that my bootcamp partition will no longer be able to boot up. There seem to be a lot of threads suggesting problems that are possible. Has anyone gone through this upgrade with success?

Before doing any installation restart OSX from your 10.6 Snow Leopard DVD and use Disk Utility to Both Repair The Disk and Repair the Permissions of your Macintosh HD.
Next remove your Snow Leopard DVD and restart your iMac into OSX.
Update to the latest version of OS X Snow Leopard by clicking the Apple icon and choose Software Update to install Snow Leopard v10.6.8, the latest version.
Use Time Machine to make a Full Backup of your Macintosh HD.
Shut down and restart into Windows by holding the Option key at the chime and selecting Windows.
Now use Windows Backup to make a Full Image Backup of your Windows Installation to a removable drive.
Shut Down and Boot back into OSX.
Open the Mac App Store from your Dock to buy and download Mountain Lion. Then follow the onscreen instructions to install it.
Upgrading your OSX to 10.8 should not effect the Windows Partition at all since you are only upgrading the Mac side. You should not have to run the Boot Camp Assitant 5 Utility in OSX at all.
Your Boot Camp 3.3 Windows Support Drivers et. al only effect your Windows installation and should continue to run fine after upgrading.
Which version of Windows do you already have installed on the existing Boot Camp Partition?
Is it 32 bit or 64 bit?

  • Hi, how do I create a standalone installer for Mountain Lion, ie, download once and then no more broadband required, thanks?

Hi, how do I create a standalone installer for Mountain Lion, ie, download once and then no more broadband required, thanks?
Context is that my other computers are not mobile and I do not have broadband worth troubling for a 4GB download - so will go to Apple Store with MacBook Pro for first download.

The easiest way is to download the installer but do not open it.
Next, make a copy of it and store it where it won't get lost.
Then take one of the copies and place into the applications directory and open it to begin the installer.
This has saved me the trouble of ever having to download the installer twice, plus you can mess around with the installer and try different options without having to worry about not having a clean install file if needed.
    Best wishes

  • Download button for Mountain Lion

Successfully downloaded and installed Mountain Lion from the App Store this afternoon. Under Purchased items in the store it is showing Mountain lion with a live black download button. Apparently the App Store has not recognized the downloading and installation of same. Not a big deal but I'm concerned whether the App Store will still offer me updates of the OS in the future. Is there a way to get the App Store to recognize my installation of Mountain Lion?

Should the App Store Purchase section be showing it as installed
Not necessarily. The Download button is available if you want to re dowload Lion to use that download to create a Mountain Lion install disc.
And, if you want to download Mountain Lion on another qualifying Mac, you can do so using that same button at the App Store using the same Apple ID for free.
See: Association of Associated Devices is subject to the following terms:  here >  iTUNES STORE - TERMS AND CONDITIONS
As long as you see v10.8 in "About This Mac", you're good to go.
    You're welcome.
