Painfully slow download rate - 0.13 Mbps

Hello all, I've experienced a very slow download rate of late, 0.13Mbps. In the summer my connect was fine, around 5/6 Mbps and gradually the speed is grinding to a standstill. Most pages don't load these days and those that do, usually drop over time.
The BTW speed test results are as follows:
Download speed (Mbps): 0.13
Upload Speed (Mbps): 0.33
Ping Latency (ms): 61.25
The further diagnostics are as follows:
Download speed achieved during the test was - 0.13 Mbps
For your connection, the acceptable range of speeds is 0.05 Mbps-0.25 Mbps.
Additional Information:
Your DSL Connection Rate :5.41 Mbps(DOWN-STREAM), 0.45 Mbps(UP-STREAM)
IP Profile for your line is - 0.14 Mbps
I have done the quiet line test, 17070, and there is no noise.
Help would be gratefully received.

welcome to the BT community forum where customers help customers and only BT employees are the forum mods
in order for the forum members to help please can you post the adsl stats from your router you may need to 'show detail' to get all stats (if hub enter 192.168.1.254 in your browser and navigate to adsl or if HH4/5 then go to troubleshooting then logs and you are looking for 2 line together when hub last connected to internet and they will show your connection speed and noise margin or if netgear enter 192.168.0.1).
The problem is althought you have. 5mb connection speed your profle is rock bottom at 0.14mb probably due to your router dropping connection or manual resets trying to get speed back or a combination of both. Your profile will return to normal automatically provided you can maintain connection 24/7 for 3/5 days with not resets
are you connected directly via a filter to the NTE5 master or test socket or to somewhere else? Is the master the only phone socket in your home?
Someone may then be able to offer help/assistance/suggestions to your problem

  • Firefox website slow download rate

It appears that when I download an update for firefox or download the installer from your website I get a really slow download rate around 150KB/sec but when I download from any other site like http://download.cnet.com/windows/ I get good speeds. So I was thinking maybe its a problem on your guy's end. Hopefully this helps because I don't know if others are having this issue as well.

I appreciate the reply enabled pipelining but that made no difference, I'm still of the opinion its something server end because I just tested it again after enabling pipelining same issue. It took me 4 minutes to download a 38.0 MB file from your website www.mozilla.org and took me 5 seconds to download the same file from http://download.cnet.com/windows/.

  • Suddenly Slow Download Rates

I recently upgraded my MacBook Pro to Leopard. Since then, the download rates when browsing the web have been incredibly slow. I don't know if that is a coincidence or not. For one thing, I notice in Leopard for the Airport, there is no longer "Use Inerference Robustness"-- a setting that always seemed to improve things in the past. I am also not sure if the multicast rate (currently set at 5.5) will affect this, or transmit power (currently at 50%). I have an Airport Extreme base station and a new (rectangular) Airport Express extending my network.

I am concerned my Airport Extreme is failing--when I connect directly from my modem to my computer, I get upload speeds of over 26,000 kbps. When I switch back to the wireless Extreme, I get 711 !!!! What could be going wrong? Are there settings on it I am not doing right?

  • How to refund iTunes rent due to slow download rate?

Hi, I rented a movie last night (8pm) but it is still downloading (today 5pm). I've checked the speed with my internet provider they assured me it's all fine on their end. I usually have a download rate of c. 10Mbps (did the independet speed test online). As I meanwhile bought the DVD from the local retailer how can I refund the iTunes rent?

  • Painfully slow downloads

Hi I recently bought two tv shows and the estimated download times are just ridiculous. It would take approx a week and a half to download them all. How do I improve download speeds on pc and iPad? This issue only seems to occur with apple downloads. Amazon downloads are fine. Customer services didn't answer my question and just refunded me for the purchase which doesn't resolve the issue! I have a broadband connection and limited technical knowledge. How did everyone else overcome this?? All suggestions are greatly appreciated! :)

How is your TimeCapsule set up, and what network standard is it set up for? I guess that for video, you really need to be using wireless n (although that supposes that your other kit is wireless n capable). Personally, I use wireless g - but I haven't gotten streaming working yet either. If I work out the magic I'll let you know.

  • Slow Download rate on DSL

In the past I have gotten up to 400kps before on different networks, but on my home DSL connection I will only get up to 40kps. I have called up my Service provider multiple times and reset my settings and everything. They say I should be getting up 350kps......Of course, it's not THEIR problem so I don't know what else to do. Is there anything anybody can think that would be causing me to not be able to get over 40kps?
    Thanks

  • Exceedingly slow download speeds on brand new mbp os lion

    Hi,
There seems to be a lot of posted issues with slow download speeds on the MBP.  I purchased mine 2 weeks ago (Oct 2011), a 13" core i7.  My download speeds are a tiny fraction of what I get with a 10 year old Dell.  Reading the posts on this issue, they all seem to be going in circles.  I am technically very savvy although new to apple.  I did at one point get an acceptable increase in download speeds after manually entering the gateway, subnet and DNS.  However two days later download speeds have reduced from 17.8 MB/s to 37kb/s.  The right now the Dell is screaming a 702MB download.  The MBP slug is telling me it will take 5 hours.
Has anyone ever resolved his issue?

So as mentioned above I tried connecting to the router using a wire instead of wireless..
many sites work fine....but some do not
    Example
    works fine
    Apple.com
    gmail.com
does not work fine...the page does not load up and gets stuck in the very beginning....
    www.CNN.com
    http://www.sportsauthority.com/home/index.jsp
sportauthority has flash embedded on that page....CNN, I do not know...
could it have anything to do with Flash ?

  • Very slow download speeds in Arch

    Hello,
I'm using Archlinux on a Macbook(Core Duo) with Windows and Macosx also installed.
The problem with my Arch installation is that the download/internet speed is really slow ( 240KB/s ) compared to win/macosx (and also other linux live distros like partedmagic) where i have download rates of 2.0MB/s.
I tried to change some settings like disabling ipv6, without success. I also tested the Archlive CD, where i also had slow download rates. So it seems to be some specific setting in arch limiting my network, any ideas what could be the problem?
    Thanks,
    dex

    @Nezmer:
    [root@lappi ~]# grep -i host /etc/rc.conf
    # HOSTNAME: Hostname of machine. Should also be put in /etc/hosts
    HOSTNAME="lappi"
    [root@lappi ~]# cat /etc/hosts

    #<ip-address> <hostname.domain.org> <hostname>
    127.0.0.1 localhost.localdomain localhost
    # End of file
i noticed the wrong entry in the hosts file and corrected it, now it looks like that, but no improvement in download rates:
    [root@lappi ~]# cat /etc/hosts
    # /etc/hosts: static lookup table for host names
    #<ip-address> <hostname.domain.org> <hostname>
    127.0.0.1 lappi.localdomain lappi

    @MadTux:
i have slow download rates no matter what browser or download-manager i use, changing the setting in firefox made no difference.

  • Slow download performance with windows 7 on Cisco 2960S

has someone experience with the the windows 7 on Cisco 2960S.
One customer had the issue with very slow download rate ( 500kByte) with 100MB / full duplex and  default tcp paramenter under win 7 with IOS 12.2.55SE1.
    No error was seen.
The change of follwing in windows improve the performance a litte bit to 1-2 MByte.
no compression, no tcp windowing, no received side scaling, no windows side heuristic, no checksum offloading and a smaller MTU size than default.
After update the Switch to 12.2.55.SE2 the performance imporve to 4-12 MByte.
Has someone an idea about the chances in IOS 12.2.55SE2. I cant find anything in RN about this issue.
    Best regards

  • Slow download when updating or downloading new apps on iTunes

Hi I am residing in Singapore. Lately, I seem to be experiencing extremely slow downloads from iTunes Store whenever there are updates. Usually, a 200mb + file would take less than 5 minutes to complete the download. Now, it takes more than an hour. Has anyone experiencing this issue?

Hi all, Im also experiencing extremely slow download rate of apps via App Store these 2 days. Im residing in SG and using Singtel Data as well. Home is Singtel Wifi too. Both data and wifi are CRAWLING when downloading of apps.
I've tried turning off and on the mobile but it doesnt really work much. For Safari surfing, whatsapp, facebook-ing and etc, all are doing OK as per norm speed. Does anyone has any idea what's really going on? Could it be solely Singtel provider's issue or something else?! My mobile is iPhone 4, with iOS 4.3.5.
Greatly appreciates prompt solutions to this. Thanks alot!!

  • Very slow download speed though modem line rate no...

    Hi
I recently noticed (today, 31st December) that our download speed had dropped very low, to approx 0.5Mbps. The upload speed is normal, approx 1Mbps. The modem line rate is however normal (8Mbps dowm, 1Mbps up). I have checked the download speed using http://speedtest.btwholesale.com/. I am at postcode SK237FN and have had consistently reliable download speeds for several years, 5-7Mbps.
    Please help!
I already tried rebooting my router but this has not improved matters.
    Thanks...

Alhtough early this my download rate dropped from 7mbps to 1mbps but I did not mind besides am always away from home due to my nature of my job, once I experience drop in downloads speed I just do a reset and it picks up but after the fault was fixed its 50kbps dead on.

  • Imac is painfully slow. Opening up applications takes 2 to 3 minutes. This occured just after a failed attempt at downloading a TV episode on Itunes.

I was downloading a TV episode in Itunes when it froze. The download was not completed. I had to use the emergency shut down processes and then restart my Imac. Everything now takes 2 to 3 minutes to open up. I have access to all my applications,as far as I know,  but everything including my internet is painfully slow. Hey everyone, I have my new Macbook Pro wirelessly connected to my Linksys WRT150N, while my PC (running Windows XP SP3) is connected through wired.
I originally had dd-wrt on the router, but took it off due to the signal would randomly drop. Now that I have the original firmware back installed, the transfer rate is painfully slow. Just trying to transfer any type of media it goes about a MB per min.

  • Painfully slow connection with new master socket

    Hi forum
Hoping for some advice or perspective on possible issue with my broadband connection. Perhaps unrelated, but I recently had a new master socket fitted (NTE5), however the broadband speed in the house is now painfully slow.
Am using BT Home Hub 4, below are the rest results I'm receiving, however I'm curious as to whether 0.25Mbps really is likely to be the maximum achievable speed, as this renders several services almost unusable.
Grateful if anyone feels there is more that could be done.
    Thanks,
