Paint Bucket Icon...

Is there supposed to be a "Paint Bucket Icon" in "Illustrator CS5's" tool panel?

No, but there's the eye-dropper tool which can do the same task.
Use it with Option held down to fill objects with the selected colour in the Color palette

Press and hold down on the Gradient Tool (just below the Eraser Tool) and it will pop up for you to select.
You can also use G as the shortcut key and Shift + G to switch to it.

  • Cannot find paint bucket icon...

hi all. brand new here. here's what i did. hopefully someone knows. i sketched art work on paper, scanned it, and used live trace in illustrator to create the design. i was told that subsequently coloring it with paint bucket under photoshop would be much simpler. i pull up the .ai file in ps, and simply cannot find the paint bucket tool! what did i do, or not do?
THANKS in advance for your help

It is co-located with the gradient Tool. Hold the mouse down there and you will see!

  • Does CS 5.5 have a live paint bucket tool like CS 4?

I can not find the live paint bucket tool in CS 5.5. There is a paint bucket icon but it does not work like CS 4.0. CS 4.0 was so easy to use. I cannot get CS 5.5 to work at all.

I know you found it but in case someone else need to find where they are...
The "Live Paint Bucket" & "Live Paint Selection Tool" are located under the new "Shape Builder Tool" in CS5 & Up.
All three tool have their own shortcuts:
    "Live Paint Bucket" - [K]
"Live Paint Selection Tool" - [Shift+L]
    "Shape Builder Tool" - [Shift+M]

  • My paint bucket/gradient/paint brush tool icon is now a eye dropper...

I've been playing around in CS5 for about a couple months now and today, (not sure if I hit a special function/command) but my icons when the paint brush, gradient and the paint bucket is now a eye dropper icon.. It's kind of annoying and I'm not sure how to reverse this.
    Any feedback would be great!!
    Thanks!!

Did you read the thread? Did you read the tech doc? Are you running any of the programs that are associated with the conflict? Did you try any of the advice offered? As the tech doc explains, symptoms vary, but one listed is:
Tools behave as if the Shift or Option keys  are pressed.
Normally you would get the Eyedropper Tool using Paint Bucket, Gradient Tool, Brush Tool etc IF THE OPTION KEY was pressed.
Reread the thread and see if any of the solutions (including an "unofficial" download fix written by Jesper at post #72)
If you have any of the apps listed, make sure they are disabled. I would log out, and log back in and restart PS while holding down the Shift+Option+Command keys. You'll get a small dialog to OK deleting the preference file.
If that does not work, try downloading Jesper's fix.
There is no official solution yet from Apple or Adobe, to my knowledge.

  • Can't find paint bucket fill icon in tools

I just installed illustrator and not seeing the paint bucket fill icon in any of my tool bars.

in the event they haven't moved it between CS5 and CC, it might be hiding under the shape builder tool:

  • How to select a shape from pen tool for paint bucket

I was under the notion that I could make a shape with the pen tool and if I closed the the shape it would then be selected in a way that would allow me to color the interior with paint bucket.
However, when I splash the paintbucket inside my shape, it paints the whole layer, not just the part inside my shape.
Obviously I don't understand how it is supposed to work.
Apparently I've gone at this the wrong way.. I want to create a freeform shape, that once created will be a selected region in the same way a rectangle or elips would.
What is the best way to do that?  I'm shooting for thought bubble sort of shape, something along the line of the outline of an egg, but with a tail at one end.

    - on mac - command/ numeric keypad Enter turns the path into a selection. Option delete then fills.
    - an action can be setup to bring up Fill Path from the Path panel menu. Just pressing enter fills with FG color
These are ways to avoid he paths panel altogether. Best way may be to use the TINY fill path icon in that panel as was pointed out by John

  • Photoshop CS4 type tool and paint bucket

I am teaching Photoshop CS4 to my students and have started having problems I've never encountered.
Problem #1 - Type tool won't work. We can create a text box and type in it. Text does not show on the document but does show in the layers palette. I've made sure the layer is on top, text is not too large for text box and font color contrasts the background. I've looked at the character and paragraph palettes looking for something unusual but have found nothing.
Problem #2 - the paint bucket is "stuck" on one color. No matter which color swatch I choose, the color does not change. I have created new documents and also shut down and re-opened the program but that didn't help either.
Has enyone encountered these problems? How did you solve the problem?

Depending on how you start Photoshop, holding the keys down ahead of time won't work on Windows 7, Bill (and I'm not sure, but possibly other versions of Windows as well).
For example, double clicking an icon on the desktop with Control-Shift-Alt held down brings up the Properties of the icon.
You actually have to press and hold the keys as soon as humanly possible after starting the app.  You have to be quick, but when you're quick enough you'll get...

  • Paint bucket displayed

I've got a GUI vi that is display an odd phenomena that I haven't run into before. On a display tab that happens to have some picture controls that display different .PNG images based on runtime program settings. Over these picture controls are some user controls. The weird behavior I am seeing is that when the operator mouses over the user controls, if the cursor moves to an area that is over the picture control, but not over one of the user controls, the cursor changes from the "finger" or "text bar" to the little "paint bucket", like the one in the icon editor (but not the "ink bottle" from paint). It is annoying/distracting, and actually takes a finite moment to switch back to the appropriate "tool" image when it mouses over something that is actually editable. Any thoughts as to the cause or cure?

    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Well, here is a simple example with a .png picture. Mousing over the image portion gives me the paint bucket, and this is being run on different machine, leading me to believe it is inherent in LabVIEW, at least at this version.

  • Live paint bucket error

    Can someone Help me?
I am trying to use the live paint bucket tool, but when I select all the anchor points, and then select the Live Paint Bucket Tool, on few places where I want to fill the color, I have an ABORT Sign under the live paint bucket tool icon.
Can anyone tell me what I need to do, so that I can rectify that error, and color?

First, tell which version of Illustrator you are using.
Then show a relevant screenshot that explains your issue.

  • Flash Paint Bucket Help.

I downloaded an image from the web and brought it into Flash. I then created a new layer and began tracing over the image with the pen tool. When all was said and done, I went to use the paint bucket tool to fill in the sections of the paths I created. My only problem is I can't fill the image. I click and click and no color is being filled. I tried converting the selection to both movie clip and graphic symbols and I still can't fill it in. Anyone have any suggestions? All answers are greatly appreciated! Thanks.
I'm working with Adobe Flash CS3.

First, don't convert to movie clips or graphics. The paint bucket only works on raw shapes for what you're trying to do.
Most likely there are tiny gaps in the outlines you're drawing. The paint bucket will only fill a completely closed area...or...
It will compensate for tiny gaps if you set it to do so. On the main toolbar (usually on the left of your workspace), after you've selected the paint bucket tool, look for the icon under "Options", which looks like a circle with a tiny gap at the top. Click this and try different settings to get Flash to fill any gaps in your outlines.

  • Paint bucket tool and its barriers

I'm using the paint bucket tool on a graphing calculator image and the -6.67 interferes with the line so the paint bucket tool fills in gray where it isn't supposed to go.  I tried to fill in the line with the freeform pen tool and the line tool, but the paint bucket tool still fills in the gray wrong. Can you help?..The same problem happens at 10 as well.

It does sound like a lot.  I'm not at a computer with PS, so I can't post screen shots, but this is what you do:
create a duplicate copy of your graph layer by pressing ctrl/cmd-J.  Set the blending mode to "Multiply," which is the drop down menu at the top of the layer pallet.  You can turn off this layer for a bit while you do the other steps by clicking on the eye in the layer pattet.
Select the other visible graph layer, and select the brush tool (B) and and a hard edged brush.  Set the foreground color to white (I'm assuming your graph layer is white and black and not black with transparency.)  Paint over the lettering between the line that is broken.
Then set the foreground color to black and reduce the brush size to the size of your line.  Paint in a line to fill the gap (there are other ways to do this such a a stroked path).
Now that the line is filled in, select the magic wand tool (w).  Make sure the check box in the main menu is checked for contiguous, so it just selects the enclosed area and not all the white area.
From the main menu, you can increase the selection size by clicking of Select>Modify>Expand.  Set the value to 1 pixel.  This will help from getting a white line near your black lines.
Create a new layer by clicking on the new layer icon in the layer's pallet (at the bottom) or by pressing ctrl-shift-N.
Now you can fill the selection on the new layer by pressing ctrl-backspace for the current background color, or alt-backspace for the current foreground color.
Press ctrl/cmd-D to deselect the selection and you can then turn on the visibility of your graph layer.

  • When I use paint bucket or brushes there is no colour not even black

I have recently installed Elements 9.0.  I previously had 8.0 and no problems.  If I try to darken skies with a black paintbrush it's all pale and so is my brush icon.  I tried picking bright colours but they don't work, and I tried with the paint bucket and that's the same - no colour.  Can anyone help?

Thank you - I've just been on and it is already in RGB.  I'm quite
    bewildered.
