Paint Bucket Not Working
Paint Bucket in Adobe Ideas on the Ipad is not working. It just spins and spins then asks if I want to cancel.
At the bottom of the tool palette, is a little circle with a
break in it,
change that to close large gaps and it should work.

Paint Bucket not filling entire selection (CS4/5)
Hello, I'm a professional cartoonist and have worked in Photoshop since the earliest versions. Since upgrading to CS4 (and now CS5), I've been having trouble using the Paint Bucket Tool, so I'd appreciate any help here.
Here's a basic example ...
1) Imagine a single layer CMYK document.
2) Draw a closed shape using the Pencil Tool (no antialiasing!) with a color of choice.
3) Select the inside of this shape using the Magic Wand Tool (again, no antialiasing!).
4) Fill the selection with the EXACT SAME COLOR using Paint Bucket tool.
5) Deselect region.
6) Now use menu options SELECT -> COLOR RANGE ... And click on the filled region (technically, that color should be selected by default since it's your current foreground color).
7) Click OK
8) Choose a new foreground color and then Paint Bucket the selected region, BUT make sure you click on the area you filled in Step 4 ... i.e., do not click on a pixel you drew using the Pencil Tool.
In CS4 and now CS5, the Paint Bucket is not including the pencilled outline when I click fill. That is, I'm left with the original pencil outline, and the filled region in a new color.
HOWEVER ... If in Step 8, I'm lucky enough to click one of the original pencil marks, the entire color region fills as it always did in previous versions.
This has grown increasingly annoying while working with my cartoons because I use the Pencil Tool to "close" gaps in my inked lines, and then the Paint Bucket to fill. If I decide to change the color of a character's shirt, I'm left with tiny spots in the gap regions.
Help would be much appreciated!!
ThanksThanks for your suggestions, Charles.
Here's a better explanation as to what is happening with visual examples ...
I ink my cartoons with traditional tools, and then scan a high-res copy into Photoshop. The black ink is converted to a 2 color bitmap so that there is no anti-aliasing. This file is then converted to CMYK for coloring. The black line art becomes the bottom ("Background") layer, and I add a new layer on top for the flat colors. The flat colors layer is set to "Multiply" so that I can close tiny gaps in my lines with color, without erasing the original black lines.
Visually ...
1) Bottom layer is black outline with no antialiasing ...
2) Create new layer on top for flat colors and set to MULTIPLY. Using pencil tool (and Wacom Tablet), close the gap with red ...
3) Because layer is on multiply, you can see that the red in Step 2 is actually this shape ...
4) Magic Wand to select the area INSIDE of the now closed circle. Wand is set to "Sample All Layers" so that it selects only the area closed in by the black outline layer AND the red. Paint bucket this area with the exact same red ...
5) Once again, here is what the flat color layer actually looks like since Multiply is on ...
6) Magic wand the area outside of the circle and fill with a DIFFERENT color ...
7) Now, suppose you didn't want the circle to be red. I now select the red using Magic Wand (or Select -> Color Range menu) and click on the red. An outline appears around the ENTIRE red shape (i.e., you would assume that all of the red has been selected since it is the EXACT same color ... verified using eyedropper tool) ... However, if you click to fill with Paint Bucket, here is the result ...
8) For some reason, Photoshop is "remembering" the red originally drawn using the Pencil Tool in Step 2 as a separate region ... Even though all of the colors are on the exact same layer ...
I hope this better explains what I'm experiencing here

Oil Paint Filter not working - CS6 - Can you help resolve this?
Can you help? The CS6 oil paint filter is not working. The error is: "The filter you were using encountered an unknown graphics processor error that caused an unexpected exit. Check the manufacturer's website for the latest software."
I have the latest graphics driver software. I have the latest update for CS6. I have followed various community support recommendations to no avail.
In the Advanced Graphics Processor settings (preference, performance) only "Basic" is available and I can't select (grayed out) "Use Graphics Processor to Accelerate computation" and can't select "use OpenCL".

Oil Paint Filter not working in Photoshop CS6?
Ok, so I have had PS CS6 for a couple of months with no problems. I downloaded the oil paint filter, but to use it i needed to update my GPU drivers, so I did and it started working. Last week, i noticed that when i attempt to use the filter, it says that need to have the box in the preferences section saying 'enable graphics processor' checked. before it was previously checked. Now when i go to it, it is greyed out because of an 'error' in my display drivers. I reinstalled my display drivers but it did not solve the problem. For some reason it is still greyed out. I know that my GPU meets the requirements for using oil paint, it was working fine before so why has it decided to stop working now?
I have not removed any parts from my computer so it wouldn't have affected it. If anyone could help me on this issue then i would be extremely grateful. You haven't installed the Photoshop updates -- you should be on 13.0.3 or 13.1.1, not 13.0.0.

Color Adjust Filter and Paint Bucket not available in CS3
I recently noticed that Colors in the Filter menu is not available in my install of Illustrator CS3. I also noticed that the Paint Bucket tool is missing. Both appear to be in the Plug-ins folder in their respective folders (Illustrator Filters and Tools) but are not available in the program. I am using Mac OS X version 10.4.11 on a PowerPC G4 running at 1.6 GHz with 1 GB of SDRAM. I have the Adobe Creative Suite 3 Web Premium package.
There may be other problems with my install, but these are the two things I notices. Can anyone shed some light on why this is happening and how to fix it? I tried a re-install, but to no avail.Basically yes, but not quite. You may want to review the new features. The paint bucket was removed because it was, well, pointless in most cases. THe Live Paint tool is much more useful than the old Paint Bucket.

White paint will not work in Layer Mask
I just installed PS CS6 and when I apply a layer mask to a layer I can paint black to hide the layer, but when painting white to restore the layer there is no effect. White paint will not restore the layer or modify the mask at all. The black paint works as usual to hide the layer, but how do I restore an area in a layer mask if not painting white?
Thanks for any help with this.
TroyThat was it. The blending mode for the brush was set to Darken which doesn't affect black, but obviously does affect white.
Thanks alot!

Paint Bucket not previewing accurate colors/Hex values
Hello,
I recently installed CS5.5 on my son's macbook pro with retina (10.9.5) and he is trying to use Flash. However, when he selects the rectangle next to the paint bucket and then moves the cursor down to the palette that popped up, neither the hex value nor the color in the rectangle change to reflect the color under the eye dropper. I also have CS5.5 installed on my macbook pro (10.8.5) and it works perfectly and displays colors perfectly. Any idea what's going on? Is there a setting that I am missing to turn this on/off?
Thanks for any help!!!
JGHere is a photo to better show the issue:

Paint Bucket Not Filling Completely
1) Create New Layer with transparent background
2) Polygonal Lasso to create shape (in this case a triangle)
3) Paint Bucket Tool to fill
See picture, it fills the shape, but the edges appear to have either some sort of feathering or gradient, but I have not been able to figure out which setting it is -you appear to have a very low resolution image (20x20 pixels?) If you don't want the feathering, turn of the anti-alias option in the lasso tool options prior to making your selection.

Hey everryone!
I was wondering whether anyone could help me in this matter, I am quite puzzled to why the paint brush isn't working in after effects, whether I don't have the right setting or i'm pressing the wrong thing I don't know, sorry if this sounds like an easy question to some, anyone know where Im going wrong?
tb HelenHi everyone,
Thanks for your input. I managed to master the paint tool,I think where I was going wrong was selecting the wrong panel. I have learned that for the paint brush to work, I must drag a solid layer into the layers panel, make sure the layers panel is selected then select the paint brush then double click on the composition panel to make it active for painting. Painting can be made into an animation using the timeline which is what I did. Using the arrow tool after this can alter the brush properties.
Thanks again

Live paint bucket not including all lines
I'm creating a map with different shaded regions and have tried several times but the Live Paint tool is not including all the lines. There is a large area that is showing up as a single region, and all the other lines included in that area that should be designating different smaller regions seem to be ignored. am I doing something wrong? Thanks to all responders.
LeslieDouble Click the Live Paint tool when the dialog shows up check paint strokes which is off by default

Oil Paint filter not working properly
When I run it, it just turns the image a dark, almost black, grey. If I change the settings, it functions properly, but several actions I have that use it all fail and give me the dark grey. I'm using Photoshop CC 64bit.
Macintosh or Windows?
Exact version of the OS and of Photoshop CC 64 bit?
What type of image?
What bit depth and what color space?
Can you show your action with all steps visible?
BOILERPLATE TEXT:
Note that this is boilerplate text.
If you give complete and detailed information about your setup and the issue at hand,
such as your platform (Mac or Win),
exact versions of your OS, of Photoshop (not just "CS6", but something like CS6v.13.0.6) and of Bridge,
your settings in Photoshop > Preference > Performance
the type of file you were working on,
machine specs, such as total installed RAM, scratch file HDs, total available HD space, video card specs, including total VRAM installed,
what troubleshooting steps you have taken so far,
what error message(s) you receive,
if having issues opening raw files also the exact camera make and model that generated them,
if you're having printing issues, indicate the exact make and model of your printer, paper size, image dimensions in pixels (so many pixels wide by so many pixels high). if going through a RIP, specify that too.
etc.,
someone may be able to help you (not necessarily this poster, who is not a Windows user).
a screen shot of your settings or of the image could be very helpful too.

Paint brush not working on layer mask
This is a totally novice question, but...
When working with a layer mask, my paintbrush isn't showing up on the image. I can see the brush strokes on the layer mark in the layers sidebar, but no brush strokes on the image itself.
I know it's just me doing something wrong...can anyone tell me what it is?I think you are not understanding how layers and layer masks work.
Look at the following illustration. The layers panel shows that the left of the image (The right is simply to make room for the layers panel and should be ignored) has solid blocks of red, green and blue. The layer mask in the top layer (red) has a black rectangle which conceals that area of the layer, revealing the underlying layer.
The mnomic we use is 'Black conceals and White Reveals' So where the layer mask is white, the corresponding area in the layer can be seen, and where black, it is like a window looking through to the layers below.
The Green layer also has a (smaller) black rectangle, so we can see the blue layer below that.
The blue layer has an even smaller rectangle so we can see the checker board background which indicates transparency.
