Paint equivalent to MS Paint

I recently bought iMac 14.1. I would like to know is there paint for mac equivalent to MS Paint. before that I worked only in windows environment which looks more friendly environment. Earlier I used to take snapshot from website and modify it in Paint and use in word/powerpoint for my school project. However, in mac I didn't find similar app. can you let me know similar app in mac.

If all you need is markup on the screen shots, Preview can do that.

There are some lightweight drawing programs similar to paint, but I've never used them. Pixelmator is more high-end and quite good, but a bit overkill if the screenshot markup is all you want.

    What's the Mac equivalent of Microsoft Paint?
    It used to be MacPaint, but isn't that long gone?
    Is it iLife? If so, in the specs I don't see any mention of
    basic paint functions although maybe it has them.
    Obviously I don't have a current Mac or I'd know the answer
    to this.
    Thanks.

  • Equivalent to MS Paint on Apple Software

    Ref my recent cry for help in doing all my website work on my Apple. Many thanks for help so far - KOMPOZER as a subsititute for MS Frontpage seems excellent and a lot cheaper at nothing than Dreamweaver!
    One last question. MS Paint meets my needs for working with gif, jpeg and bitmap images. Is there any equivalent to MS Paint on iWorks or iLife? Otherwise can you recommend a simple Apple programme?
    Thanks again

  • MS Paint equivalent for OS X?

    Hi,
    I'm a recent Windoze switcher:), what program is out there for OS X that is equivalent to MS Paint, with a few extra features like cropping?. I've downloaded LiveQuartz. Looks good.
    Any better ones?
    Thanks
    Sky

    If all you want to do is Crop you can use Preview. And if your new Mac came with iLife you will be pleasantly surprised by the things you can do in iPhoto. All the basics are there, including Levels, red eye fix, crop, rotate, brightness, and so on.

  • Paint bucket tool not painting color on canvas

    Ok - I'm new to photoshop (I just got cs4) and can't seem to get the paint bucket tool to paint the background.  I've started out with a new canvas, selected paint bucket and color from color menu on right side.  Foreground is selected and the paint bucket tool is showing on my cursor - when I click on it over my canvas I expected it to change to the color I selected and it does nothing.  Help??

    I am having the same problem and have checked the mode.  Normal.  Still not working- I have tried eve
    rything includig unlocking the layer- checking the opacity and tolerance.
    using it with other photos and still nothing.

  • Any equivalent to MS Paint in Mac?

    Hello to all,
    I come from a windows background and am very familiar with the simple 'paint' application; I am searching for an equivalent app for my Mac. I have downloaded [free] 'paintbrush for Mac' from the internet but find that it does not have the tools which MS Paint has, and more importantly, I can work only with 2 colors...white an black. Can anyone point out to me any free download that allows me to work in color too?
    FYI I do have Adobe photoshop but feel uncomfortable in trying to learn it! A personal 'irrational' dislike!

    "This has layers in them [something which Photoshop also has and I am afraid of!] "
    Why are you afraid of applications that use layers? Layers are one of the easier concepts of both drawing and painting apps to understand and use. Think of layers as multiple sheet of clear paper or thin sheets of clear plastic that you can draw or paint on. You can build up a drawing or painting by putting different elements on different layers. If you want to alter elements on a layer only that layer gets affected. If you don't alike what you did on a layer, you can erase an entire layer and start drawing or painting on that layer, again, or delete the layer entirely. You can, also, more easily move elements around on a layer more easily that having all the elements on a drawing or painting on one layer.
    So, there's the quick tutorial about layers.
    What type of diagrams are you drawing/painting?
    There are, also, diagramming programs, that have make drawing simple geometric shapes easier to do and easier to move around and esier to edit and change their appaerance. If there is text within the shapes, both the shape and text moves as one unit, saving you from moving the shapes and text as separate elements.
    Here are two diagramming apps for example

  • Windows "Paint" equivalent for Mac?

    If you've ever used Windows, you have to know about the Paint program. It's pretty easy to use and can do pretty much any basic/simple things on it. What would be the equivalent of this on a Mac. I need to do some things that I used to do on Paint, but don't know what to use.

    There are numerous applications. Go to MacUpdate or CNET Downloads and search for "paint" or "draw."

  • Cant open PC Paint files with Appleworks paint program

    I have been using the very simple Paint program that comes with windows. I have finally made the move and ditched the PC for something more stable.
    When I try to import my .bmp pictures I used to work on into Appleworks it insists on opeing the Drawing program that has no "fill" etc. Even when I open the Paint program and then "force" it to open a .bmp only part of the picture is shown. I thought that a .bmp is pretty basic and common file type.
    Does anyone know if Appleworks can handle .bmp files and if not what are other options. I didn't really feel the need to have a $170 paint program for what I am doing.
    Hope you can help.
    Michael

    Dale,
    Thanks for your reply.
    The problem is that I need to use the "fill" in the paint program.
    I have actually just been able to get the file to load into Appleworks paint after reading about using the .pict save. All looked good untill I tried to fill. What happens now is that the fill is very chunky and does not bleed thru at all. This makes it pretty useless at the moment.
    Same problem, with a twist now.
    Looking forward to any further ideas.

  • How do I remove leftover paint from a live paint object?

    I am trying to create my own typeface. I used live paint to paint over a grid and create letters. I'm trying to create words and the Professor wants me to eliminate any white color I may have used from white paint. I am able to show it by selecting the letter, ungrouping the object, selecting object and expand. Can you explain to me how to delete the leftover blue that don't match up with the black?

    Thank you so much! I really appreciate your help! Would it be okay if I ask you more questions?
    I was wondering could you explain to me how to make multiple rulers? I have one in light blue and I want to make another one.

  • Paint brush does not paint where I am pointing.

    I am using the new snow lepord 10.6 and CS4.  When I go to paint, I place the circle and click but it starts painting about 3/8" lower that where I am pointing, any ideas?

    This has nothing to do with SL.
    You created a new doc in full screen mode. cycle through full screen mode using the F key. everything will be back to normal.

  • Changeing Paint's Graphics outside paint

    I have this code:
    public void Paint (Graphics g) {
    Graphics2D g2 = (Graphics2D) g;
    g2.setTransform (t);
    how can I access g2 from outside Paint?

    You should not access g2d outside of paint. Let me explain. First of all, references to Graphics that are passed to methods, such as paint() and update(), are only valid during the execution of the method that they are passed to. That is, they are a copy of the original Graphics object. Once the method returns, the reference is no longer valid because its caller is responsible for disposing of it. Each Graphics represents a graphics context supplied by the native windowing system and there are usually only a limited number of them. Is this making sense. The important thing to remember is that the paint() method only has a copy of the Graphics object and that it is usually a bad idea to store it in an instance variable. The way that you get a reference to the Graphics of an image or a component (when you are outside of the paint() method) is to call the image.getGraphics(), component.getGraphics() or any of the Graphics.create() methods. Each returns a copy of the original Graphics object and you will be responsible for disposing of this copy when you are done using it. A very good example of this can be found when Double Buffering. Double Buffering is where you clear and draw an image off screen first, and then "blit" it straight onto your component. Here is an excerpt of code that is not from a paint() method://use double buffering to avoid flicker (paint image off screen then blit to screen)
    if (offScreenImage == null) offScreenImage = createImage(getWidth(),getHeight());
    Graphics offScreenGraphics = offScreoffScreenImage.getGraphics();
    Graphics g = getGraphics();
    //get graphics can return null if invoked before component's peer is created
    if (offScreenGraphics!=null && g!=null) {
       try {
          //clear the offscreen image
          offScreenGraphics.setColor(getBackground());
          offScreenGraphics.fillRect(0,0,getWidth(),getHeight());
          //blit to screen
          offScreenGraphics.drawImage(image,0,0,this);
          g.drawImage(offScreenImage,0,0,this);
       } finally {
          //must dispose of all graphics
          offScreenGraphics.dispose();
          g.dispose();
       }//end try
    }//end ifIt demonstrates the getting of the Graphics object when your current method it is in wasn't passed a reference to the Graphics object. In the code above, image and offScreenImage are instance variables. If you still want to use the Java2D version of the Graphics object, you will have to cast it once you get a reference to it. I hope this helps.
    Also, about repaint(). When you want to do application-triggered painting, you will want to call the repaint() method and should never call the paint() method directly. repaint() calls update(), update() clears the screen on heavyweight components, and finally paint() is called. For a very good article involving painting into components please read the following (it is a must read):

  • "Format Painter" from a corrected pix to another one?

    Hi. Just purchased Photoshop Element 9 for Mac. New to it.
    My question is simple: once I have made corrections (color, tone, etc...) on a given pixs and saved it, I was wondering to what extent it was possible to "copy" those modifications and "paste" them on another pixs. This is actually possible on "iPhoto" and would be like the equivalent of "format painter" tool in Microsoft Word of Exel. This would in turn avoid duplication of retouch procedure and ensure "consistency" for a given set of pixs.
    Many thanks in advance.
