Pairing odd physical type interfaces for ips
In the 4250-sx, there is a copper gigabit interface (ge_0/0) and a fiber gigabit interface (ge_1/0). Can these interfaces be paired together to do blocking or do they have to be the same physical type.
What are the disadvantages, if any, of pairing odd physical type interfaces?
Pairing of copper and fiber interfaces is not supported.
We have not tested this configuration and do not know what issues might develop from that combination.

Alternatives:
1) Purchase a second SX interface from Cisco so you can pair the 2 SX interfaces.
2) Use InLine Vlan Pairs which pairs 2 vlans on a single interface instead of using 2 interfaces. You can then create inline vlan pairs on the SX card, and can even created inline vlan pairs on the TX interface ofthe motherboard at the same time.

Can somebody help me how IPS bypass interface module for 4200 is used? Is it that, when IPS appliance fails (no power, hardware failure), traffic can readily flow from outside interface to inside bypassing the IPS? Usually in inline placement, IPS appliance is the point of failure during hardware failure, is the bypass module introduced to defy such failure?The bypass module is only available on the 4260 and 4270 sensors. It can give you a hardware short of the Ethernet pairs in the event of a sensor power failure. The rest of the sensor product line uses a software bypass. We have found both of these methods to be less then reliable when a sensor experiences a software crash (the software need to realize the sensing app has crashed in order to activate the bypass). Using an external device has proven to be much more reliable.
A simple switch, with two VLANS can be used. Connect the two VLANS externally with your sensor and a patch cable. Assign a higher Spanning Tree Protocol cost to the cable connecting your two VLANS. The cable becomes a hot standby path to your sensor.

Too many type parameters for interface
In JDev 11.1.1.0.0, I do a compile and I get 65 files with errors saying
Error: too many type parameters for interface java.util.Map<java.lang.String, java.lang.Class<?>>
but the class doesn't use the Map object.
Other files get it for the Set object.
Note that no line number was given as part of the error message.
I installed the JDev 11.1.1.0.0 base from the zip file.

The constructor AbstractJcrDAO(class<CmsELOImpl>, session, Jcrom, String[]) is undefined.
as I know java generics are implemented using type erasure. This generics are only
in the java source file and not in the class files. The generics are only used by the compiler and
they are erased from the class files. This is done to make generics compatible with (old) non generics java code.
As a result the class object of AbstractJcrDAO<CmsELOImpl<IMetadataKey>>
is AbstractJcrDAO.class. The <CmsELOImpl<IMetadataKey>> information is
not available in the class file. As far as I understand it, I am looking a way
to pass <CmsELOImpl<IMetadataKey>>, if it is possible at all.

Network Trouble - eth0 not interface for sis900 controller
I'm not sure how to even state this problem, but I have gone through the guides a couple of times to try and find what I missed or some more enlightening information. Currently, I get nothing if I ping google, or anything else for that matter.

Assigning multiple interfaces for Oracle API Gateway (OAG)
We are deploying Oracle API Gateway to throttle our incoming API requests. We would like to keep the incoming external API requests separate from the internal configuration management so that they go through different interfaces when accessing the OAG server. This is mainly for security reasons so that the external people won’t have access to the interface used by internal operations team to manage OAG. Based on your experience, is there any standard best practice to accomplish this? We were thinking to perhaps use two of the server’s network interfaces with different IPs, one for the incoming API requests and the other for the internal admin management of OAG. But not sure if this is the best way to do what we need. We are aware of OAG's capability to support two separate ports to handle this situation, but would like a more secure set-up that could completely eliminate external access to the OAG management done by the IT team.

Here is how you can achieve this:
You can use multiple network interfaces on the UNIX machine and setup networking/routing in such a way that all external traffic comes on on one card and is routed internally via a different card.
Segregate difference types of services (i.e to be used by external clients vs internal apps) into difference different "Service Groups". Have each of these service groups listen on different port + NIC card (under Listeners, you can define a port to list to list on a specific network address and port instead of *).
Setup additional protection for services that will be accessed by external clients. Use "Threatening Content " filter to protect your services.
Setup 2 way SSL for the interface that will be called by external clients. Setup a DN based authorization check if you want to have both authentication and authorization.

S/A bridge problem: No object type found for the message
Hi all,
I've been spending days looking into the following problem. I have a RFCXIFile scenario. The R3 system sends data via an RFC to XI and XI post the data as a flat file on a certain server using FTP.
This scenario worked just fine for 1 exception. I could only run this scenario once. The second time I got timeouts when checking the data sent to my RFC destination using SM58. When I reactivated my RFC communcation channel I could again send 1 RFC to the system. All subsequent tries would fail.
I guess this is due to the fact that I use a synchonous call (RFC) to an asynchronous one. Thus the adapter is still waiting for the response from the XI system and will not accept any further new calls from R3.
So I figure let's use this pattern called the S/A bridge. So I designed everything according to guides and examples and I'm quite certain everything is configured right but when I run the scenario I get the following message:

It seems that the adapter cannot find any integration process to send the message into!?
I've looked at numerous threads on sdn and tried all kinds of stuff (looked at the cache==> code 0 = OK , tried to reactivate my integration process, checked the interface determination,...), but to no avail. Does anybody has an idea what could be wrong ?
Any help would be greatly appreciated for I'm all out of clues....

Some answer to your suggestions/questions:
The IP has return code 0 in SXI_CACHE. so that doesn't seem to be the problem.
I've checked the BPM for syntax errors. I doesn't have any.
I've reimported the BPM into the integration directory.
And did a full cache refresh in SXI_CACHE. Return code is (stays) zero, so that's OK.
I've already included the error message from SXI_MONI. It is in the last step ("Call Adater") that the error occurs.
The other steps execute just fine...
The RFC communcation channel accepts the incoming RFC call and puts into the pipeline, so no problems with the communication channel either. the problem is actually when the pipeline is trying to forward the message into an IP trhough the BPE_ADAPTER (according to SXMB_MONI).
Therefore I'm not able to go to into PE, because the workflow is never started. the BPE_ADAPTER does not find any active process for the interface determination i've entered.
So i can not debug the IP in the PE and check container variables, like some of you mentioned.
Maybe some more information about the scenario:
The RFC is called from an R3 system to XI over the interface "CONTROL_RECIPE_DOWNLOAD", which is an imported RFC, with a request and response message type.
Then I got a receiver and interface determination with lead the incoming RFC message to the IP, into interface "XI_ERP_MF_MD_CONTROL_RECIPE_REQ_AI_MI".
This is an abstract synchronous interface based on the request and response types of the "CONTROL_RECIPE_DOWNLOAD" imported RFC.
This interface is used the first step (receive) of my BPM as the synchronous interface to open the S/A bridge.
The message (container var) used in this step is

I have a question for you. When and complex type is validated, I get the object which contains the error. ( or objects ).
However. How do know the position in the actual parent object. basically. Is there a way to know exactly the position of that attribute in that object. I need to store errors strings.
The first problem derives from this one:
It is not possible to execute validate function for a primitive attribute inside an structure.
I would appreciate your help.

XIF Interface for Activities in CRM 5.0
Hi,
I am planning to use XIF interface for data load and on-going interface for CRM activities. I have extended Activity structure with some Z fields using EEWB and it generated all of the necessary structures (BDOCs etc.) When I go to BDFG and create a new message type(ZCRMXIF_ORDER_SAVE) as a copy of CRMXIF_ORDER_SAVE, it does not include those Z fields from EEWB in the IDOC segments. ( I think they are suppose to be in the segment E101CI_EEW_CUSTOMER_H). During the generation, it seems to be hitting a namespace violation. Is there a slick way of solving this issue without making a mod using the debugger as OSS notes say.

I have read some of the other posts for people that got this error, but none seem to apply to me.
My program has been working for weeks. I made some minor changes, and started getting the error (full details below).
I did a TFS "undo pending changes" and still getting the same error, even after logging off. The one odd thing is that I did change my Windows password this week. The connection string is using a SQL user id and password that has no issues.
I'm an Admin own my own box (running WIn XP SP3). I even tried "Run as Admin" on Visual Studio.
I'm doing a Debug-Start, running a Console-Test-Program that calls a WCF service, which on local machine is hosted by "ASP.NET Development Server".

Apparently it had happened to me before, and fortuantely, I actually added the following comment:

so i was created only one outbound interface for both senders and one message type bcos the file structure is same for both senders.

That is perfectly correct when you have two senders and one receiver Scenario and <b>Business Service is different</b>. Then you can use the same Interface.
Just keep in mind that the key for XI to recognise the Right interface is combination of these 3 parameters:
Sender Service, Sender Interface and Namespace. These cannot be duplicated.
When the Message type is same in the sender input data then you can create just one Message Type and One Data type and RFC is anyhow the imported RFC which you need not have to worry.
In Configuration Scenario you need to configure separately the RD, ID, CC and Agreements for the Interfaces.

Standard interfaces for vendor invoice and salary posting
Hi all,
Our customer is asking for a standard interface for vendor invoices (not purchase invoices, only for invoices entered in FB60), if they could have a CSV file from vendor and import that to SAP. Is there a standard functionality or do we have to build an own interface?
They also ask if there is a standard interface for salary file so they can tell the company that create the salary file that they should use a standard format or do we need o to create an interface there to?

You can either go with INVOICE01 or INVOICE02, As per the requirement you can check with the Function module attach with the idoc type, and whether it is providing the appropriate functionallity or not.

BPM Abstract Interface for IDOC?
Hi all,
I am doing an IDOC XI File scenario with BPM.
I have created an Inbound Asynchronous and an Abstract Interface for the LEGACY SYSTEM(Target Message).
I didn't create any Abstract interface for the IDOC(Source message).
I am getting this error:
<b>"Expression must return the interface type DEBMAS.DEBMAS06.DEBMAS06".</b>
Do I need to create an Abstarct Interface for the IDOC?
According to the above error, BPM is expecting an ABSTRACT INTERFACE Type for the IDOC.
Experts need help from you.

Joslyn.That mapping is an dummy mapping between Idoc to Abstract Idoc Type. Here Sender Idoc Interface is mapped with Reciever Abstract Idoc interface.
So inside the BPM, Abstract Idoc interface acts as a Container variable to collect the idocs.
