Pale green dialog box backgrounds?

Okay, this isn't exactly a critical question, but...
After upgrading to Leopard, all of my dialog boxes have a VERY pale green background (220/232/218 RGB) -- but the background to text within those boxes is the "correct" pale gray (232/232/232 RGB).
This was true before my recent upgrade to 10.5.2...
Obviously something is corrupt somewhere (unless everyone is experiencing this and just doesn't see it or mention it) -- any thoughts on where I might begin fixing such a thing? It's true across all apps.

Thanks for that! Okay, that's at least FOUR of us -- and I'm thinking it's just us who are observant enough (or whose monitors are bright enough) to be able to tell the difference.
I have to say, it's especially obnoxious in places like the iTunes preferences box, which is large with lots of separate blocks of text...
Also interesting that it isn't true for third-party software preference panes, or the system preferences background (although that's large alternating bands of dark and light, so obviously not a "stock" background).

  • Dialog box background issue

    Hi!
    I'm having this strange beauty problem on MacOsX 10.5.2. On some windows/dialog boxes there is a color difference between the background of the box and the background of the text and buttons.
    The computer is brand new, has some additional software installed and I really don't know what should I do. I'm also posting some print screens to explain the issue.

    I'm having a similar issue. This happened when I switched to a 2.2 gamma from the default 1.8. Any ideas on how to fix this? I prefer working with a 2.2 gamma, and switching back to 1.8 for such a small cosmetic problem doesn't seem like a good solution...

    When I open a pdf in Adobe Acrobat xi pro it is not displaying correctly. If a file is all black with orange writing, I will see only the orange writing. Its not until i print it or open crop pages dialog box that i see the background.
    i am on a Windows 7 professional PC, 64-bit.

    If anyone is reading this still looking for what caused the issue and how to fix it here is what I discovered.
    The antivirus program our company uses, Bitdefender Antivirus Plus, was causing some of the PDF files not to open. After troubleshooting the different modules and settings the culprit was..
    Scan SSL in Privacy Control Settings. Turning it OFF solved the problem and all the PDF files that previously would not open now open just fine. This issue has been sent to Bitdefender for them to review. If you use a different antivirus program and are having this issue try locating the Scan SSL setting and see if turning it off solves the problem.

  • Adobe pdf printer save dialog box opens in the background - progress bar shows Not Responding

    I have two users who have Acrobat X Pro version 10.1.4 that are experiencing the same things.  First, one person just changed laptops and the new one has a fresh Windows 7 Enterprise X64 image and new installation of Adobe Acrobat X Pro.  When he used the pdf printer for the first time(after opening the program and accepting the license agreement) he was in MS Excel '07 and chose file>print>Adobe PDF and then the progress bar came up and then showed not responding.  After he did this a couple of times with me standing there I noticed that the save dialog box was opening in the background because I could see the icon blinking on the taskbar.  He said that his old computer never did this and that it would always open up and ask where to save the file and never show 'not responding' on the progress bar.  The other person having the same issue is running the same version but she has had the program installed on her machine for a few months and an older version on before that.
    Is there a way to make the dialog box show as soon as you print to the Adobe PDF printer?  What is causing this?  Is there another way to create a pdf from MS Office like the add-on?

  • Black background in some dialog boxes

    I have Windows XP SP3 on my MacBook Pro.
    One Program shows up with some dialogboxes
    that have black backgound and some white text,
    but not all text is white some text stays black.
    And black text on blach ground is not good to read
    Already tried the latest nvidia driver from nvidia,
    but the dialog stays black.
    Is there a solution for this problem somewhere?

    The black background just appears on the MacBook dialog-boxes
    of this program, under bootcamp or under parallels.
    Here is a demo of this program:
    <http://www.orca-software.com/content/orca/index-dateien/data/Projekt1/Item830/F orm1321.htm>
    On several other PCs it works fine.
    Is there somebody who also had black backgrounds in dialog-boxes?

  • Acrobat Pro XI print dialog box opens in background, Web Browser

    Issue:  From web browser apps, I select Print > Adobe PDF > then, the Save PDF File As dialog box opens in the background instead of the foreground.
    Acrobat Pro XI / Acrobat Pro 11.0.2
    IE8 x32 / IE8 x64 / Firefox 20.0.1
    Win7 Ent x64 SP1
    Dell Latitude with I5 proc and Intel video
    Dual screens with extended desktop display via DVI
    In Distiller, I check the box for Preferences > Ask for PDF file destination.
    I was issued a new corporate laptop a few months back, specs are above.  Did not have this issue with Acrobat Pro X on my old Dell Latitude running Win7 Ent x64 SP1.  So, I have multiple new moving parts in what could be the root cause.
    Any ideas?
    Thank you,

    One thing I've learned since OSX 10.2 is that Mac is finicky about printer drivers too.
    I had a Lexmark and it would freeze all the time after I switched to Panther. It was a discontinued model so when I moved up to 10.3 there were no new drivers. The old ones installed OK but they would cause it to freeze up and if it did print, it took about ten minutes to get through a page of text.
    I got a new printer and one tht had current drivers available for Mac and the problem was solved.
    It seems we fight a never-ending battle with hardware and software racing to stay ahead of each other.
    Yes I've owned three printers since owning my first Mac an SE 30 I started out with a Apple ImagewriterII (made C-Itoch).  I had to switch when I bought a 7100/66 which used the PowerPC processor instead of the 68030 processors. Then I had a HP DJ 650cse which used a Black Cartridge only. No color. I had to change again When I bought my G4-500. I am still using it today. Its the best printer I've had so far. I fear when I buy a new Intel Mac, and comes with X.6 (Snow Leopard) I will have to swap again. I've seen the new HP DeskJets and the won't last as long this one.  They look like cheap toys and (gulp!) they use heads built like in epson not the Cartridges.  The Cartridges were more expensive. But each time you bought one you got a new set of print heads. No longer.

    There is a similar 2012 forum thread which addressed this problem, stating the solution was found by zeroing the drive, then reinstalling: http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1008692

  • How can I add form field value to the file name in save as dialog box

    I do not want the form to be saved automatically, just want the form to auto populate the "file name" only.
    A little background on the forms I want to use:  My company has 70 retail outlets, I'll use one of our pdf forms called an "Incident Report" as an example.  I would like for a store manager to be able to complete the form, then email the form to the main office (I already have javascript to add field values and form name to the email subject line), once the main office receives it, I want for them to be able to file the pdf electronically on our server.  We have mutliple forms that we use so I do not want any of the forms to automatically save anywhere, (at this time anyway) I just want the office personnel to be able to click "save as" (or whatever they will need to click) and the form automatically add certain field values from the pdf they have received, of which will be different each time the form is sent to the office (Date, store #, employee name etc.) in addition to the name of the form in the "File name" of the "Save As" dialog box.  The main office employees will decide into which server file the pdf should be saved.
    I'm using Acrobat 8 professional, the stores and office personnel use Adobe reader.
    One little note:  We currently print and file a lot of paper on a daily bases, as soon as I can get this to work, we are going green.
    Me and a lot of trees in this will really apprecitate any help you can give with this!  :-)

    You might want to take a look at the document "Developing Acrobat Applications Using JavaScript" (js_developer_guide.pdf) which is part of the Adobe Acrobat SDK, which can be downloaded here. Read the "Privileged versus non-privileged context" (p. 45ff.). You will find an example for "Executing privileged methods in a non-privileged context". Should be almost exactly what you are looking for.
    Small Outline: For security reasons ("the user always has to know what's going on") you are not allowed to use the "Doc.saveAs"-method without the user permission (--> in a non-privileged context). In order to reach the goal of a privileged context you can use a trusted function. You do this by creating a JavaScript file (*.js) in either the Application-JavaScript-Folder (default location on Windows systems: "%ProgramFiles%\Adobe\Acrobat 10.0\Acrobat\Javascripts") or the User-JavaScript-Folder (default location on Windows systems: "%AppData%\Adobe\Acrobat\10.0\JavaScripts"). Add the following content to the new file:
    myTrustedBrowseForDoc = app.trustedFunction( function ( oArgs ) {
         app.beginPriv();
              var myTrustedRetn = app.browseForDoc( oArgs );
         app.endPriv();
         return myTrustedRetn;
    myTrustedSaveAs = app.trustedFunction( function ( doc, oArgs ) {
         app.beginPriv();
              var myTrustedRetn = doc.saveAs( oArgs );
         app.endPriv();
         return myTrustedRetn;
    The developer guide actually wants you to add this content to the existing "config.js" file. I recommend creating a new file, since its easier to deploy in a network. Either way, every client/user who needs to be able to save documents this way, needs this JavaScript Code in his Application/User-JavaScript-Folder.
    Within the Acrobat Document, which you want to obtain a certain file name, you can now use the trusted functions "myTrustedBrowseForDoc" and "myTrustedSaveAs" to store the file. To call the trusted functions and deliver the file name you can either you use a form field (button) or you add a new menu item. Add the following JavaScript Action to the button/menu item and change "Roller Coaster" to the name of the field which contains the value which you want to become the new file name:
    var fileName = this.getField("Roller Coaster").valueAsString;
    try {
         var oRetn = myTrustedBrowseForDoc({bSave: true, cFilenameInit: fileName + ".pdf"});
         try {
              myTrustedSaveAs(this, { cPath: oRetn.cPath, cFS:oRetn.cFS });
         catch(e) {
              console.println("Save not allowed, perhaps readonly.");
    catch(e) {
    console.println("User cancelled Save As dialog box");
    Good Luck!

  • How can I supress a Windows dialog box programmatically in LabView?

    I am trying to automatically supress or close a windows dialog box that appears when a LabView program crashes. I have a restart program that will automatically reopen the program and I don't want to have to click on the program error window that results from the crash. Does anyone know how to do this?
    Thanks so much for your time!

    The program rarely crashes - it is running in the background for the entire day and we just want to ensure that it is monitored and restarted in case of a crash. We also don't want the user to be bothered with the program error messagebox that pops up saying that an error log is being created. The program crashes when too many programs are running at the same time - so the problem isn't a huge one. I was just wondering if it was possible to stop this program error message from appearing by programmatically selecting the okay button or by suppressing the message entirely?

  • Slow Loading Open/Save Dialog boxes...iCloud related?

    I have noticed since installing Lion that many dialog boxes, mostly with Apple applications, take forever to populate folders and icons. I get the spinning beachball of death and it takes anywhere from 30 seconds to a minute to populate.  I have run system cleaning utilities.  I thought it was related to Spotlight services, because often I will hear disk reads in the background. I've switched boot drives from time to time but the problem continues, so it isn't an HD failure.
    But reading Tidbits lately, I'm wondering if this extra processing is related somehow to the iCloud network connections, syncing with Safari bookmarks, e.g., or something else.  I was using iMovie today and it took more than a minute to populate my movies folder, which should be well indexed.
    The problem isn't system wide, because other applications don't cause this problem, although Outlook or Word may cause it from time to time.
    I thought it might be Default Folder, but I turned that off and the problem did not go away.
    Jeff

    Likewise a network share that's not currently online (e.g., a mapped drive or a desktop shortcut pointing to a server not presently there) can cause major Windows stalls.

  • Need action to open save dialog box and STOP there. Help!!

    So here is the background info, in case it helps to know why I am looking for this option - I am pulling photos off an internal company database. I can not access these photos as regular files - I have to go to our website, input an employee number, and right click, copy. Therefore, any options related to batch editing, if they'd even help otherwise, are out for this first step
    In the meantime, I have created an action that opens a new doc, pastes the photo in, and resizes it. Assigned f5 as the shortcut. Then, to save my dexterity (:P) I also reassigned the "open save for web & devices" shortcut to f6.
    However, this is such a massive project, and coming to a time-crunch, that I'd really like to take the action I created even further to cut out that second step (open save w/ f6).
    I've googled and apparently am not phrasing the question right, no matter how hard I try.
    HOW in the world, if possible, can I add a step to my action that simply OPENS the save for web & devices dialog box? I know how to make it open and save, but no more than that. I need to open and just STOP there, so that I can simply hit enter and input the desired file name.
    Is this possible?! I'll love you forever if you can tell me that it is and how to accomplish it! Btw, I am on Photoshop CS4.

    For your F6 save files action, record it saving a file (it doesn't matter what or where for the moment)
    Now, in the actions palette, click the right hand box where your save action is. A dialogue box will pop up saying "This will toggle the state of all dialogs in this action..." Click ok beacause we want to hand over control of the save back to the user. Now, when you run your save action the dialogue will appear and you can save the file where and as you want.
    Hope this helps.

  • How do I call browser Save As dialog box before downloading pdf files?

    How do I call browser Save As dialog box before downloading pdf files?
    Here's my favorite scenario:
    1. User clicks button
    2. Save As dialog displays
    3. User chooses location
    4. A set of PDF files download to that location OR a single zip file downloads
    Background:
    I want to ensure the user sees that files are being downloaded. I'm delivering content to users who may not be Web savvy.
    Concern:
    1. User has no clue how to find downloaded files or that files have even downloaded.
    2. I'd like to deliver the set as zip files. Not sure if self-opening zip files still exist.
    FYI:
    I'm using jQuery UI buttons. Not sure if that factors into response.

    Just for clarity, I'm not forcing a download. The user will click a button.
    Click a button or click a link, either way you're technically executing a script to force a download.
    I'm assuming that's the php file resident on the server.
    Yes but that's only part of it.  Once the contact form executes, another script is called up which opens the browser's download dialogue.
    Is there a php script for simply calling the Open/Save dialog box?
    Yes.
    <?php
    /* This short script forces a file download.
       For simplicity, it's intended to be used for a single file.
       You can use multiple copies of this file (with unique names)
       with different variable values to use it with multiple files.
       Use of this script has a side-effect of hiding the location of the
       file on your server.
    // full server path to file to be downloaded (including filename)
    $Path2File = "path/to-file-on-server.zip";
    // the filename
    $theFileName = "name-of-file.zip";
    //the work gets done here
    header ("Cache-Control: must-revalidate, post-check=0, pre-check=0");
    header ("Content-Type: application/octet-stream");
    header ("Content-Length: " . filesize($Path2File));
    header ("Content-Disposition: attachment; filename=$theFileName");
    readfile($Path2File);
    ?>
    Name this file zip2download.php.
