Palette question

Ok, this is one more of those basic skills that I've never mastered. What is the best way to add the drivers to the instr. lib? After extracting the files from the zip file I've got a set of drivers in .llb and the .mnu files in a directory (see the attached folder view) and I can't get them to show up correctly within the functions palette. All I get is the top level icon for the instrument but all of the subpalettes are icons with question marks.
Help!

Hi denslen,
I was able to download a similar chr6320x driver, run the setup.exe, let the NI Installer use its recommended settings, and view the driver in my functions palette. I didn't actively extract any files or move them around.
Try running the setup.exe that you can download from the NI website, then search your functions palette for chr6320x. Any of the installed VIs will show up there.

  • Tools Palette question

    This is driving me absolutely batty.
    Somehow someone changed a setting on my computer so that every time i click on a tool in my palette, all of the tool options pop open forcing me to choose which tool I would like to use.   It is as if, by default, it is right clicking on the tool, when I do not have my mouse set up for right click capability.
    I looked in EVERY possible window, palette, tool option, preference, everything and I can not for the life of me find the option to turn that off.
    Help!!
    This may be a dumb question, but its making me crazy!

    On my system it now behaves the same way as you have descibed. A single click automatically opens the RANGE of tools available under that tool bar item. CS3 and CS4 and they both seem to behave the same way. I do seem to remember, could be wrong, that at some point in the past you would have to  HOLD the tool down to get the options. Thats why I asked if you had an older version.
    As someone who uses keyboard shortcuts, I don't often find myself accessing the tool bar at all. Isn't it something you can learn to live with?
    forcing me to choose which tool I would like to use.
    No it doesn't FORCE you - a single click will access the last used tool - you are using a mac.

  • Appearance Palette question

    I am absolutely sure that I am doing something wrong here, but please bear with me – I am new to the Appearance palette
    See screen shot attached. (the text "Helvetica")
    I have created some live text (ie: it remains editable)
    I have given it a fill of black and a heavy (7pt) stroke of blue.
    I cannot appear to rearrange the stroke so that it falls beneath the fill
    I assumed it would simply be question of dragging it below, as one would with the Layers
    However, when I converted the text to outlines (in this case the text "UNIVERS") it works.
    And also why are the eyes in the first coloumn grayed out when the text is live.
    But not so when text is outlined?
    Can anyone point me in the right direction with this?

    To enable what you want to do you will need to explore the Add New Stroke and Add New Fill in the Apperance panel. The easiest way to do what you want is to select the text and in the Appearance panel choose Add New Stroke. Click-hold on that row in the Appearance panel and drag in below the line that says Contents. You can also play with removing the fill at the character level entirely and then with the Add New Fill you can use a pattern fill for the letters. Remenber that the stroke will be half hidden by the fill.

  • History palette question

    If I refine a tif (selective noise reduction, edge sharpening, localized color saturation or desaturation for example), then save as jpg, the history palette appears to lose the record of my work on the tif prior to saving as jpg. When someone opens the jpg, can they view the steps I took to modify the tif prior to saving to a new file type (usually jpg in my case)?

    You can sent them or give them access to your log files with a network share. Again the log files are only for referencing you can do do anything with then. ACR Raw setting are a ACR thing not part of Photoshop history. Your ACR setting for your RAW file are save in many places. Other users can see the setting the ACR setting you use in your image files metadata if you do not strip the meta data. Use Photoshop menu File>Info the use the RAW TAB. like this

  • Actions palette question

    Hi all! This might seem petty, but I'm curious. When I run an action in Illustrator CS4, the action palette item "shows itself." i.e., normally, I have all my actions so that only the name of the action appears (the arrow to the left is pointing to the right). But when I run the action, the arrow points down, revealing all the steps in the action. I have a lot of actions, so if I run them, it either takes up a lot of space on my desktop or I continuously have to scroll up and down to find the action I'm looking for because they are all showing all their steps.
    Is there a way to stop it from showing all the steps? I don't want to see the steps when I run the actions.
    Thanks!
    Julie

    Julie,
    Yes, the action "showing itself" behavior is very annoying, and I'm pretty sure that it has been requested that it be fixed.
    Another way to get around this is to assign F-Keys to your actions. You have up to 48 combinations available: F1 thru F12; alone, with command key, with shift key, and with both. (F13, F14, and F15 don't work)
    If you have the entire Action SET closed, you can use the F-Keys to run the actions without the palette "exploding" open on you.
    By the way, you can also close all the revealed actions in a set at once if you hold down the option key while closing the set. You may have to do it twice.

  • Group folders, in the layers palette question

    Love groups, but i feel like i'm always closing them, hitting the little triangle to open, but more importantly -  (before i close a layered doc,) to close / minimise them.
    I wondered if there's a quick way to close all open groups, alt clicking on one, might close them all for example.
    Any clues anyone?
    Hope it's clear what i'm asking.
    Alex

    Holding down Crtl+Alt (Command+Option on a mac) while clicking the Arrow beside the folder icon in the layers panel toggles open/closing the layer groups.
    You have to use the arrow on one of the main groups and not on any of the nested groups in order for all groups to open/close

  • Component Palette question

    I want to create a folder to put all of my .gif files in under my WEB CONTENT folder, does anyone have any suggestions

    Go into the file sytstem and create an images directory under your project's public_html directory.
    Then in JDeveloper go into project properties->Content->Resources and add this directory.

  • Problem with Tabs Palette

    Perhaps someone can help me. I hope this isn't a problem that only I have run across.
    There's no consistency to this but every so often, my Tabs Palette stops working. Where I had been able to set tabs within a document, suddenly I can't add, move, or delete tabs that I've set.
    I've deleted the prefs for CS2 but that doesn't clear the problem up.
    Then, if I move on beyond that point and come back to it later, the Tabs Palette works again! It's as if there is an on-off switch that I don't know about.
    Thanks, Bill
    (450 MHz PowerPC G4, 1.25 GB SDRAM, OS 10.4.11)

    Here's another tabs palette question. My gradient tab has stretched horizontally to twice its size and can't figure out how to resize it back to the size of the other tabs. I've tried resetting my workspace settings but that doesn't do anything.
    Is there somewhere on the perimeter of the gradient tab to size it?

  • Plist question (loginwindow, HIToolbox, character palette)

    Hi,
    There was a problem with the special character palette from Textedit recurring at login and logout on my pb. It happened after I quit Textedit without closing the palette first (I would think it should close automatically since it is part of the Textedit app?), leaving the palette still active when I logout.
    I found posters who had same prob in the forum and followed the general advice of deleting comp.apple.loginwindow.plist, and it seemed to work. But today it happens again and deleting the loginwindow plist has no effect. Checked the content of the plist - it does not contain any suspicious item like last time. Search the forum again for answers. People with similar problems w/ char palette (don't know from Textedit or international language menu) popping out when it is not wanted would trash the HIToolbox.plist and/or the CharPalette plist. So I did that too, and the TextEdit plist also (why not since the OS will generate new plists & I don't have significant pref to preserve).
    This method is working again. At least for now. But through this exercise I discovered I know so little about these xml files. One of the files I deleted is
    com.apple.HIToolbox.000a95b1a702.plist
    Does anyone know what this item is?

    nice. palette popped open w/default everything, soon as i deleted it. it's still sitting in the trash.
    ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.CharPaletteServer.plist
    I was afraid to 'cause it said 'server.'
    Thank you Tom!

  • Illustrator Question: Layers palette has disappeared

    I am using Illustrator CC. Layers palette has disappeared.

    k,
    If you cannot conjure it up with Windows>Layers, it may be time for the list.
    The following is a general list of things you may try when the issue is not in a specific file, and when it is not caused by issues with opening a file from external media, see below. You may have tried/done some of them already; 1) and 2) are the easy ones for temporary strangenesses, and 3) and 4) are specifically aimed at possibly corrupt preferences); 5) is a list in itself, and 6) is the last resort.
    If possible/applicable, you should save current artwork first, of course.
    1) Close down Illy and open again;
    2) Restart the computer (you may do that up to at least 5 times);
    3) Close down Illy and press Ctrl+Alt+Shift/Cmd+Option+Shift during startup (easy but irreversible);
    4) Move the folder (follow the link with that name) with Illy closed (more tedious but also more thorough and reversible);
    5) Look through and try out the relevant among the Other options (follow the link with that name, Item 7) is a list of usual suspects among other applications that may disturb and confuse Illy, Item 15) applies to CC, CS6, and maybe CS5);
    Even more seriously, you may:
    6) Uninstall (ticking the box to delete the preferences), run the Cleaner Tool (if you have CS3/CS4/CS5/CS6/CC), and reinstall.

  • Questions, re: dynamic color Palette that is high contrast and visually appealing

    We're building a web application that allows coparents to keep a shared calendar.  If a parent is responsible for an "overnight", the calendar is coded with their color.  Caregivers such as Nanny's and grandparent's can also have an overnight.
    Colors are dynamically assigned from a palette (can be customized afterwards).  We started with a palette that had a lot of "distance" between each successive color so that it would be easy to distinguish, but...it looks terrible.
    Any ideas on how to create a palette that will be visually appealing but that will also allow adjacent days to be easily distinguished?

    Note: Sample screenshot attached to original post.

  • Newbie question about palettes positioning...

    By default, the swatch and layers palettes are open and located on the right of the screen... and while playing around with the program, I seem to have "unlodged" these windows so that the open document now goes UNDER the palettes. And it's very annoying. The palettes are now floating above the document, even if I move them back into their original space.
    How do I recreate the gutter that originally was holding these palettes?

    You can arrange each panel and group of panels in the workspace however you like with your mouse. Hold down left click and slide around!  Right click on a group icon and you will get a drop down menu of options.
    You should be able to left click and slide it back into place to re-dock into the workspace, otherwise reset the work space by selecting whichever workspace preset you want to use.
    In the event you don't already know,
    On the top of the Photoshop window on the right side, if you don't have them tucked away, should be some workspace presets. Esentials, Design, Painting, Photography, etc. If you do have them tucked away you can pull them out with your mouse.   You can also find the preset workspaces under  Window / Workspace >
    Essentials is the default which will have the Color-Swatches-Styles group placed at the top of the workspace.
    The Design and Painting presets will also place the swatches panel back into the upper right side of the work space panel.
    You can also customize the workspace by selecting what you want in your workspace panel by clicking Window / and then checking everything you want in your panel. You can choose to save your customized work space via Windows / Work Space / New Work Space.  Give it a name and save

  • Probably a noob question...swatches palette

    Hi all, I work for a magazine publisher and I have an ad that was originally a PDF from a client. They needed some changes made to text and other elements so I opened it in Illustrator CS4 and did most of the changes. However there are some spot colors in use in the document that I need to make CMYK for printing purposes. I double-click on the name of the swatch and it pulls up the options. I then change it from book color to CMYK but the option to change it from a spot color stays grayed out. How do I change the spot colors to be separated? The document color mode is already CMYK, and I've tried the Edit->Edit colors->Convert to CMYK route but it messes up my transparency pretty badly. I've done google searches but have found nothing. My only other option is to do all the customer changes, then rasterize the ad in Photoshop which I'd rather not do in case they come back with more changes in the future. I even tried changing the spot colors in Acrobat using Pitstop but it wasn't totally successful. I've spent half the day on this and the ad needs to go out! =( Thanks ahead of time for any help.

    Editing a PDF in Illustrator is a resort-after-the-last-resort maneuver. You should try to get hold of the original file and edit that. But you probably know that already and have either ruled out asking for it or been told it is unavailable, so here we are.
    Your best bet for editing the colours is to do it in Acrobat, not Illustrator. Use Acrobat’s Advanced > Print Production > Output Preview command, you can convert any spot colours to process. Probably the colours are used in some objects that Illustrator cannot interpret into fully editable artwork. This often happens with areas where transparency was flattened when the PDF was made.

  • Kinda silly question - color palette

    Hi,
    Ive been working with AEFX for a couple of years now, and have just swapped machines at work (all singing/dancing thing).
    When I open AEFX on the new machine (default settings, etc) the first thing i notice is that the color picker doesn't have all the color spectrum on it.
    only the blues from white to dark blue. So if i select RGB values to choose a new color solid the RGB values don't give me the color they should.
    I know I should just use the hex number, but such a simple thing must have an option somewhere that im unaware of.
    I tried to RTFM, but its very vague on this...
    Does anyone have a clue what im on about..?
    cheers!
    Dell, WIN XP 4GBRAM 2*Quad core, etc...

    > yeah the system color picker gives me the right color, but just to
    > be picky (get it?!) i like the look of the adobe one (which is how
    > my old machine was..).
    You can switch back and forth between the two color pickers quite easily, depending on which you prefer for specific tasks. See the
    "Choose a color picker" section of After Effects Help on the Web.

  • DID YOU KNOW?? - ABOUT ADVANCED COMPONENTS IN THE PALETTE??

    <br>
    Hi All,
    DID YOU KNOW??
    The IDE ships with the following Advanced Components in the Palette.
    These advanced components are a set of JavaServer Page markup tags for advanced users. The components have no visual appearance and are useful to developers with experience in JSP and JavaServer Faces technologies.
    * Encoding
    * Faces Action Listener
    * Faces Converter
    * Faces Validator
    * Faces Value Change Listener
    * Faces Verbatim
    * Link
    * Load Bundle
    * Markup
    * Meta
    * Parameter
    * Script
    Lets look at MARKUP component in more detail.
    The MARKUP Component
    You can drag the Markup component Markup component icon from the Palette's Advanced category to the Visual Designer to create a standard HTML tag. The Markup component enables you to insert HTML elements into the JSP page in places that HTML is not permitted.
    When you drop this component on a page in the Visual Designer, you cannot see it on the page until you set the tag property. You can see it in the Outline window and you can select it there to edit its properties in the Properties window.
    Use the tag property to specify the type of HTML element to insert. For instance, to insert an <hr> tag, set the tag property to hr with no angle brackets and select the singleton property .
    To provide compliance with XHTML, if the HTML element you are inserting is a singleton element, you must specify the singleton property, which causes a trailing /> to be generated in the rendered HTML. For example, the <br> element is a singleton element that must be rendered as
    to make it XHTML compliant.
    If you want to specify HTML attributes in addition to id and style for the element you are inserting, use the extraAttributes property.
