Palm 111c battery died all files lost

this has been a horrible time for me. my desktop died and i didnt install palm 111c software to my laptop  i didnt want to fill up my laptop. my battery died on the palm pilot and when i recharged it my address book was empty. i have lost ALL my passwords 10 years worth how can i get them back?
Post relates to: Palm IIIc

Sorry floydgene, if you lost the Hotsync files on the desktop computer, there is nothing left.
I hardly think Palm Desktop would be close to filling up a laptop.
The Volatile RAM on older Palm devices has to have battery charge to remember any data.  No charge, and the data turns to zeros...
This is why Palm Inc. stresses the importance of regular Hotsyncs to save your valuable data.

  • Removed apple ID from computer.  Are all files lost?

When my iMac was initially setup, I used an apple ID that is no longer in use (It was current at the time, but I created a new joint account recently).  The apple ID was just unlinked from the computer, which prompted a new setup for the computer with me logging in with the new apple ID.
I did not have a time machine backup setup, but I noticed when I was setting up with the new ID, that there was a "locked" hard drive section that I could not access that might have my old files.
Is there a way to see if that locked part of the hard drive is still available?  Or are all of my files lost?  Is there a way to log in with the old apple ID which could get that system back to the way it was?  I have backups for word documents and files, but I would like to avoid having to re-install all of my programs and re-downloading music and videos.
    Thank you

You need to use the same Apple ID and password for both devices.

  • Big problem - all files lost due to login error!

    Hi,
I recently installed Leopard, and I enabled the Guest account in System Preferences. Yesterday, I booted up my Macbook, and accidently logged in as Guest (instead of as myself). Instead of displaying the Guest's desktop, OS X seemed to crash, and, after a while, the Login-window reappeared.
I then just logged in as myself, and everything seemed all right.
I worked for a couple of hours, and I wanted to log out, but I got the warning that I was logged in as a Guest and that all files in my home directory would be deleted. I was, however, not logged in as guest. I stupidly clicked ok, and logged out.
An hour or so later, I logged in again, only to discover that all my files were gone! That is: not only the guest account, but also the administrator account was completely wiped out!
Luckily I could use Time Machine to restore a backup quite easily, but I was quite scared!
I think this is a serious bug, and just wanted to let you know to take care when enabling the Guest account.

You is using a DBLINK and that username/password is incorrect.
if you don't know what DBLINK is using, you can query the DBA_DB_LINKS:
    SQL> desc dba_db_links;
    Name                                      Null?    Type
    OWNER                                     NOT NULL VARCHAR2(30)
    DB_LINK                                   NOT NULL VARCHAR2(128)
    USERNAME                                           VARCHAR2(30)
    HOST                                               VARCHAR2(2000)
    CREATED                                   NOT NULL DATE
after that you need recreate it:
    conn / as sysdba
    create public database link <TARGET_DB_NAME> using '<TARGET_DB_NAME>';
    conn strmadmin/strmadmin@<SOURCE_DB_NAME>
    create database link <TARGET_DB_NAME> connect to strmadmin identified by strmadmin;

  • Battery died and I lost a project in Garageband?!!!

I spent about 5 days putting a project together. It's maybe my best work yet. I sell jingles in a lowend market, but I'm extremely happy and proud of what I do! Ok, it opens with a new empty track under the filename. When I search the filename in my computer, it says 664mb, but says last modified with the time that my computer died because of battery issues. I've moved the files to iTunes, it only plays them 1 by 1, and when I try to pull them to Garageband, it says it cannot read aif files....wich is what they appear to be in. Of course, even the erased and played over files are there, all the effects are sucked out of each track? How can I restore the original piece I put together? I have to turn this in on Monday and there is no way to make the same sounding song by scratch. Please help! You will be rewarded a 1000 lives of good luck that comes with a million and 1 virgens!!! haha jk...... I really need help, and would be most grateful for any assistance-Thank you!

  • Safari blocks, shutdown the computer, all files lost.

I'm new to Mac's and I was simply ecstatic till yesterday.
Safari went down during normal internet activity. Since I didn't now what to do and Safari wasn't responding to anything, I just closed all others applications and shut down the Mac (it is a knock-out, but it usually works with Windows).
After restarting, all my files that were created or modificated till the previous day were gone. Also, some things like dock preferences were changed to default.
I can only be happy to the fact I had the Mac for just one week, so i didn't lost too many things. But it's a problem that makes me really uncomfortable in doing anything with my MacBook.
    So, what happened?
    MacBook   Mac OS X (10.4.9)

To properly close an app that is not responding use:
    Command-OPtion-Escape keys
A window will open showing all running apps (and those not responding). Highlight the offender and "Force Quit".

  • Battery Died, All Songs Erased

I was on a backcountry jeep trip (without my computer) and was jamming away to my ipod. The music stopped, and I realized the battery had died. I plugged the ipod into the car charger and got the black screen with the apple logo on it, and upon finally booting all songs & content had been erased. Is this normal? Why did this happen? I was pretty mad to have no music the rest of the trip. I tried searching here, but I must not be looking for the right keywords. Any help is appreciated!

sorry nothing works. i cant call because i already used my one call and im not paying money to send it in. becasue im not old enough to get a job. i need to know if anyone else has had this problem

  • All files lost

2 days ago while working in lightroom i got an error that my photo was no longer available. Upon searching in my photos folder I found that ALL my photos were missing. I pulled them back in off of my backup drive and was working on them yesterday when the same error message came up and again my photos were gone, as well as all other documents on my hard drive as well as all of my itunes music. This is alot of files. I have everything backed up but I'm am trying to figure out how I can suddenly lose EVERYTHING! ***!
    Any help or suggestions?

Something you either did ON the Mac, or a problem WITH the Mac caused you to lose the data a second time.
    1. Safeguard the data on the external backup,....do you know how to find the data on the TM backup?  If so do you have a second HD to copy photos and files to before going further?
    2. As to the Mac further information is needed for someone here to diagnose your Mac as to what you did, OR what is going on with same.
After 1 and 2, in the future always always have 2 copies of your data, not just a time machine backup, which is an emergency backup, NOT an archive of data you DONT DARE LOSE.

  • Updated software - All files lost

I updated my ipod touch to the latest software. Before updating I right-clicked on the ipod icon and clicked "back up." After the software was installed I right-clicked the ipod icon and clicked "restore from backup." My music and media were never restored, although my notes and other files seem to be intact. How can I restore my media? If it's lost for good, what did I do wrong?

    - For other media you need a third-party program like one of those discussed here:

  • E7 maps update failed -- all files lost

    **bleep** YOU NOKIA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! VITTU

    @ilovesymbian
Whenever Ovi Maps updated from v3.04 to 3.06 old mapping data has to be deleted, if Ovi Suite > Maps won't deliver latest map data for any reason it could always be installed manually by direct download!

  • File corrupt whilst working on it when battery died?!! why?! help?

    Hey everyone,
I use a Macbook Pro and I've been working on a really important file in Flash CS3 for the past week, and whilst working on the latest version outside yesterday, my battery died suddenly (it had run down, but no message came up to warn me)...
When I restarted my Macbook and tried to reopen this file it came and still comes up with the message "Failed to open document"... All my other files are fine, it's just the file I was working on.
Another message appeared only once, saying something like "Javascript error... cannot find file" but I haven't been able to get that message up again to note it down in full.
Does anyone have any suggestions?? Is there any file recovery software I can use? (preferably free! I'm a student!!) Is there an explanation to why this has happened?? It shouldn't have!
Please help if you can think of anything! I can't even find an apple support number that appears relevant... This file is really important, I've lost days of work that I need asap!
    Is there any hope?
    Thanks,
    Hannah

I have no idea if it is possible to recover the file. Never, ever edit the only copy of a file. It should have been backed up to a different location after every update to the file, preferably under different names so you could roll back to previous versions at any time. Thumb drives are cheap insurance against the problem that you encountered. Does CS3 make it's own backup copies?

  • The hard drive on our computer died and we lost all of our purchases in the account. Is there a way to recover the songs we have paid for? If we plug in our iPod to a new account, won't it erase everything during the synch process? Help!

If for some reason you have failed to maintain a backup copy of your computer ( not good), then transfer purchases form your ipod.
    Without syncing, click File>Transfer Purchases

  • How can I restore an unsaved pages file lost upon laptop dying? Time machine not activated.

    Hi,
My laptop died and when it restarted all the documents that were open with pages, except for an essay reopened upon start up. I need to find this essay immediately. I am willing to pay for an app or some other means as long as I'm guranteed it will work? I am not that into computers and technology so I did not have time machine active as I've only really heard about it since trying to locate the file.

Until you have saved a document at least once, it exists only in memory. When your computer died, your file disappeared.
Accept it as a learning experience and a reminder to save your documents immediately on opening them for the first time. That gives your Mac a name for the document and a location to save the file.

  • I recently lost my windows laptop due to a virus. I had backed up all files onto a drive(files only). However no itunes playlists. i have all my playlists on my iphone and pics etc however when im trying to sync to my new computer itunes deletes all data

I recently lost my windows laptop due to a virus. I had backed up all files onto a drive(files only). However no itunes playlists. i have all my playlists on my iphone and pics etc however when im trying to sync to my new computer itunes wants to  deletes all data off of my iphone so i click cancel
i want to update to iOS 5 and still have itunes be able to copy my playlists from my iphone. for free. why does apple provide a recovery from iphone option?

If you have a backup, restore the ENTIRE iTunes folder to the computer.  This restores the library and device association files.  If for some reason you chose to only back up the media and not the entire iTunes folder, then the only option is to let iTunes wipe the drive and re-sync.

  • My computer broke and i lost all files including ITunes. what happens to all the stuff purchased already. will this appear in itues when i download it agian? how can i save the music on my ipod and transfere it over to the new itunes?

Unfortunely, all movies and songs purchased in iTunes will be lost...you'll have to purchase them again! Any applications you've purchased, you can download again for free.
Music Rescue is a program you can use to transfer any and all data (music, movies, pictures..) from your iPod to your computer, and iTunes.
