Palm 3 hotsync problem

I just received a Palm 3 last night, And been trying to hotsync ever since. I tried Palm live chat that didn't help maybe someone in this forum can guide me. I have xp home editon on a dell demision.
When I try to hotsync it, it says can't communicate with my computer or modem not hooked up. I think I have to make sure my palms is reading the correct desktop port? IF correct how do I do this?
Any help will be appreciated. If my message doesn't make sense I will correct it when I get home from work. My palm came with a disk but i didnt use it i used palms download program, the disk wont load for some reason when i place it in the disk tray.
thanks

Hello and welcome to the Palm forums.
Did you install the Palm Desktop program properly? You can download it from this website by clicking here for the link to download Palm Desktop for Windows. You will be prompted to select your device and operating system of your computer from the drop down list on the left.
What is the exact error message you are getting? Can you paste your hot sync log here?

  • PALM V / WINDOWS XP HOME HOTSYNC PROBLEM

Out of the blue, my Palm stopped hotsyncing with my G3 Mac  (see http://forums.palm.com/t5/Macintosh-HotSync/PALM-V-MAC-OS9-2-2-HOTSYNC-PROBLEM/td-p/273892;jsessioni...) so I am trying to move everything over to my Windows XP Home machine. I downloaded the Palm Desktop V 4.1.4 and purchased a new Keyspan USA-19HS serial to USB adapter for the cradle. I have the Hotsync Manager set to Local USB and the driver said that I was connected to com 4.
I am at a total loss on what to do to get the hotsync to work and I am totally lost without my PDA.

    Hi,
easiest way to verify that your XP CD has SP2 incorporated is to look at the root directory of the CD for a file named 'win51ip.sp2'.
If there, then it is SP2. If not, well...
And there is a way to make yourself a XP CD with SP2 out of your pre-SP2 XP CD by following these instructions http://www.winsupersite.com/showcase/windowsxpsp2slipstream.asp
But you have to do it on a Windows PC.
Second possibility, the XP CD you have is an upgrade version, which only installs after a check for an older Windows version.
Unfortunately you can't switch CDs during BootCamp Windows installation due to the impossibility to eject the current CD.
Apple strictly says that such upgrade XP CDs don't work with BootCamp.

  • Palm Hotsync conflicts with XP SP3?

My Palm Hotsync was working perfectly fine...until I updated my Windows XP with Service Pack 3.  Now when I try to sync, I get an error message saying that the connection could not be made.  Occassionally, if I re-download the Hotsync, that will let me sync once, but then I run into the same problem.  I'm loathe to uninstall SP3 since that has a lot of security stuff in it, but nothing else seems to be working...
...I've done the soft reset and the system reset, and followed every step in the Palm help section.  I've also chatted with a Palm rep who couldn't seem to find the problem either.
So, has anyone else had this problem?  Was it SP3 or something else?  How did you resolve it?
    Thanks...

I have a Treo 680 and I spent about an hour on the phone at my computer with tech support from Palm trying to resolve this and when it
was all said and done I still can not get my calendar and contacts to sync. Tech support told me that I have a corrupted database and that
there is problems with the SP3 and the hot sync manager. They told me they were working on it but couldn't give a timeframe for when
it would be fixed. I can not remove SP3 from my computer. I have enough issues already with security without adding to it. Palm needs
to fix this problem right away.

I have read all the posts re: hotsync problems and i have tried them all except for the third party software (Dlib?). Does anyone have a solution which doesn't cost me anything? I love my E2 and I don't want to retire it to "brick" status!

Hello, I am having the same problem.  I called someone at Palm support and they haven't returned my call.  Do you still have the program (DBSCAN20b.prc) that was sent to you?  If you do would you mind sending it to me.  I have a Palm Tungsten E2 and want to sync my new Palm Pre-Pixi with the data from the E2.  If you are willing to do so, please call me at xxx-xxx-xxxx.  Thanks.

  • Palm 505 problem

    Hi
I know very little except to use this thing and that it is old.  I perceive that what happened is that I put the palm in the
cradle then tried to hot sync and now something dumb has happened.  The error I am getting is "Conduit Manager Unexpetcted
end file" ... it shows that it is trying to hot sync in the background.  If I let the sycronization try to happen, the palm shows the error
"HotSync Problem  x the connection between your handheld computer and the desktop was lost.  Some of your data was NOT backed up.  Please check your setup and try again."  My problem is I do not know how to check the set up.  Thanks guys if anyone can help.

  • Palm HotSync stopped working... Help!

I've had a Palm Tungsten E2 for four days, and today HotSync was disabled. Message: "Transport Monitor could not complete your request"
It worked yesterday. It works on my G5 PC. I ran Applejack and Disk Warrior, then uninstalled and reinstalled the Palm Desktop 4.2.1. I removed com.palm.hotsync.plist. Nothing has fixed it.
How do I repair Transport Manager so I can sync my Palm on my MBP?
This is not a Palm setup problem; HotSync cannot be enabled even when the Palm is disconnected. Same message, which first appears at start-up of MBP.

I will try this but just to confirm: by installing PalmDesktopWin62, I do not have to install the conduits?
Also, when i look on the link, I don't understand the following: 'The easiest way to make sure your working with the correct key, highlight the key i.e. palm quick install, and press delete on your keyboard. It will ask you, are you sure. Say yes. Do the same thing for all keys below.' I Where do I highlight the keys? I have the backup file on my desktop but don't get it afterwards in the message
    Thanks
A word of caution (as clearly expressed in the post your referencing!)  Editing the Registry is a dangerous thing to do if you are not familiar with the task!
A Registry "key" is one of the lines listed below the paragraph - like:
    * HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\U.S. Robotics\Palm Quick Install     <---- this is a "key", and the one CygnusX1 is talking about in the example you quoted.
Did you start "Regedit" as instructed?  After you make the backup, you go back to the main Regedit screen and begin to locate the keys listed as targets for deletion.  If you find any of them, then delete them.  If they are all gone, then you have a clean uninstall!
I would suggest you find someone to help who might be more familiar with Registry edits, as one little typo could render your computer inoperable...

  • Palm TX HotSync Problems with Windows Vista (DeskTop V6.2.2 HotSync Manager V7.0.2)

I have recently had to re-install DeskTop on my Windows Vista PC and at the same time updated to V6.2.2. but the HotSync manager gets to "Synchronising Date Book" and just hangs up until I close things with Task Manager. I've tried re-booting my PC reloading the software and soft resetting my TX but so far I haven't found a solution. Can anyone help please?

When a sync hangs on a component of Palm Destop, it usually means the data is corrupted in that component. The calendar is the culprit most of the time.
Click on the following link for the program called DbFixiT. This program has a trial version that you can download and install on your Palm OS device. The trial version will scan for database corruption and then report the corruption. You can then find the records causing the problem and fix them yourself or you can purchase the program and have it automatically fix the records.
    http://www.pimlicosoftware.com/dbfixit.htm
To install the program, set all conduits to "do nothing" except quick install or install if using Palm desktop 6.2.
After you install the program on the handheld, run the scan and also scan for Blobs in the calendar.
After you clean-up the database on the handheld, set the conduits in hotsync to handheld overwrites desktop and perform a hotsync.
If you need more info. regarding DBFixit, there is a PDF manual on their website.

Try using directions in Palm Support Knoweldge Library
      03-01-2006 02:58 PM
I went to the Palm Support Knowledge Library at the website this forum is part of. I used Solution ID 38852 and followed the directions. I'm not sure exactly what worked, since I had trouble finding Login Items in the Preferences (#6), but did what it said as much as I could (deleted some of the Transport Monitors). I restarted the laptop and Hotsynced and, voila, it now works. Good luck.

  • HOTSYNC PROBLEM SOLVED -between Palm TX using desktop version 6.2 & Windows 7 64 bit

I to struggled with performing hotsynch between my Palm TX and my new Windows 7 64 bit computer.  After 2.5 hours of palm tech support on my pc they gave up and deemed the task not solvable.  I spent hours trying various options-nothing worked until this.
I performed a google search for Toshiba bluetooth x64 drivers.  This took me to the following link:
    http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/Bluetooth/?page=download
I downloaded PC Bluetooth Stack version 7.00.10 for Windows 7 x 64.  After downloading this suddenly the palm syncing software on my pc gave me the option to connect via bluetooth and I was on my way.  My bluetooth dongle (cirago BTA-3210) was not a toshiba, but did use the toshiba driver stack.  The driver that came with the bluetooth was not up to date- even though it was just purchased at newegg.  The driver update that my pc found was also not 64 bit compatible.  The only fix was to download the driver from Europe- hooray!!!!!  PROBLEM SOLVED

I've reinstalled the program (downloaded from palm.com) twice and I'm still not able to connect.

Old Zire on a Vista O/S computer.  While upgrading the old Palm software, I lost all data on the desktop.  When Hotsynching my handheld to the new (ACCESS) software, all failed.  So I uninstalled the new (ACCESS) software and reinstalled the old Zire software from the CD I have.  It took quite a while and then sent me error messages that data, contacts, etc. had not transferred.  Checking the desktop afterwards confirmed it.  Nothing there.  No help from Palm.  Anyone have an idea how to resolve this?

  • Hotsync problem with Windows 7 and Outlook 2007

    Hello,
I try to make contact between my Palm Tungsten E2 and outlook 2007 on my laptop with Windows 7 for synchronizing. Before this, I worked on this laptop with Windows Vista and also Outlook 2007.I installed the standard software and after that the update for outlook 2007 (palmoutlook2007conduits.zip (7.2MB)).In Vista this was working well, but not in Windows 7.I can see in the soft ware part that palmoutlook2007conduits is installed, but the in the log book I still have the same errors :
    - Not Synchronized
    Outlook Contacts synchronization failed
When I go to the settings, also there is the same error : “This version of Outlook is not supported by the Outlook Conduit application. Supported outlook versions are Outlook 98, 200, XP(2002) and 2003.”. It looks like the upgrade with palmoutlook2007conduits have no effect in Windows 7.
I hope someone have a solutions for this problem.

Without really knowing the extent of the problems you are having it is hard to say.
You can visit http://kb.palm.com solution id 2630 for the Hotsync troubleshooter guide.
If that doesn't resolve your issue, I am going to need to know what problems you are having, what errors you are getting and what exactly occurs when you attempt a hotsync.

  • ISync/Palm HotSync replaces w/old data

Hey. This may be better suited for Palm support because it doesn't really seem like an iSync issue, but I use iSync/e2sync to Sync my Palm-based phone (Samsung i500...R.I.P). I have been having an ongoing issue that if I don't sync almost daily, that if it has been, say a week or so, since my last sync, Hotsync overwrites all of my data with OLD data and reinstalls all my programs. VERY frustrating. It never did this before Tiger and DOESN'T do this on my work laptop when I Sync. At work I just use Hotsync with an Entourage Conduit for my Entourage data. This machine does NOT have Tiger installed. At home, where Tiger IS installed and where this strange overwriting is happening, I bought e2sync hoping that would mix this overwriting problem. I checked "do nothing" for "backup" in Hotsync Conduit Manager and it is still overwriting if it has been a while since my last sync. Is there ANY explanation for the overwriting?

NO, I am not using .Mac for anything.
NO, my intention is not transfer the data between the two computers using my device as a "transport device".
My intention is to have all my contacts and calendars on my device populated with information from my home and work computers. This is a problem that existed BEFORE I syncronized my device with two different computers. When I do sync and information conflicts it (iSync) warns me and asks me what to do. The overwrite problem is NOT coming from iSync it seems to be a Hotsync issue that may or may not be caused by TIger.
