Palm 755p - Sprint

I have already gone through 2 phones and am on the 3rd.  I have experienced the phone shutting down on several programs and at times on it's own.  I have Novell email service through my business.  Has anyone else experienced this same problem?  I have not been able to use all the features on my phone because of this problem.  I've been instructed to "hard reset" each time, but then it starts again.
Post relates to: Treo 755p (Sprint)

Does the device shut down by itself after you hard reset, but before you restore all your programs? If not, then this could be caused by a corrupted application or program. The best way to correct this will be with another hard reset, but before you perform that reset, make sure you've hotsynced all your data, then go to your backup folder (In 4.x it's at C:\Program Files\palm\username and in 6.2 it's under C:\Documents and Settings\windows user name\My Documents\Palm OS Desktop\username) and RENAME the backup folder to backup.old.
After this, do your hard reset, and then hotsync. Only your PIM data (calendar, contacts, notes, and tasks) will be synced to your device. Now one by one, install your third party programs from the backup.old folder back to your device. After each one, check to see if your device starts resetting again. If you find one that makes your device reset, that's the one to not reinstall, and you can delete it from the 755p.

  • Palm 755P (Sprint) not synchronizing with new Toshiba Satellite L305D operatig Windows Vista.

OK Please help the new guy....
I have a Treo that is a month old. It was previously synchronized with my old computer. My old computer took the dive. I bought a new Toshiba Satellite L305D-S5938t aht is running Windows Vista.
I tried to locate the Palm Desktop via the disk in the Treo box from Sprint. No dice. The Desktop loaded, but I can't synchronize my Treo. There is no available USB connection.
So, I played around with it and tried to get it to connect via bluetooth.... NO DICE.
    Very frustrating.....
Does anyone have any advise at all?
Can anyone point me in the right direction?
Anybody out there have a solution?
Has anybody beside me encountered this problem too?
    Please advise.....

Hi.. Welcome to the Palm forums.  My first assumption is your Vista is a 64bit version.  That being the case there are no usb drivers available which is the reason for the problem trying to sync via cable.  You are headed in the right direction as bluetooth is the only way your going to sync.  First the computer has to be bluetooth compatible or you need to purchase a bluetooth dongle and get it installed and then get the two to pair.  From there if you go the the windows hotsync thread here you will find a sticky that explains the process.  Also here is a knowledge base article about how to sync via bluetooth.  http://kb.palm.com/SRVS/nua/launchKB.asp?c=41559

  • Problems w/ Syncing Palm 755p to Exchange 2003 Server - HELP PLEASE - Sprint

Hi, I used to be able to sync but now I can't (nothing has changed on our server).  Only thing different I can think of is I got an updater icon "EAS Updater" and I clicked it and now my Exchange Email stopped syncing to my palm (on my old 700p).  However, I just got a new palm (755p) and still having the same problems as the 700p even though I had done numerous hard resets.  I have tried doing a hard reset, then set up the Exchange ActiveSync account but still didn't work.  I tried syncing my info from Palm Desktop then setting up the Exchange account, still nothing.  So I don't think it's the EAS Updater but then again, I may be wrong since nothing has worked.
Weird thing is I gave the Palm Tech person my log in and password and they got onto my server fine (I know I shouldn't have but dang, I've been trying to figure this out for the last 3 wks - have changed password).  They used the port 80 as incoming server and nothing under proxy settings. But I tried the same thing and got the error message below.  Did it when Palm was on the phone w/ me so even they are not sure what's wrong.
    AirSAMStateMachine.c 2214 6 HTTP/1.1 400 Bad Request Date: Fri, 19 Oct 2007 06:44:00 GMT Server: Microsoft-IIS/6.0 MicrosoftOfficeWebS
So I figured I change the incoming server settings to see if I can get it to work that way.  When I changed the incoming server setting to port 443 (automatic checks the SSL box) a different error shows (no proxy settings, since we don't use one)
SSL Error: No trusted root Update certificate authority list. AirSAMStateMachine.c 1913 14721
So I went and got the certificate installed using the instructions on the Palm site and when I synced, a different error shows up.
    AirSAMStateMachine.c 1913 109
This is getting so frustrating.  How is it that 2 different Palm Techs can log on using the info I give them on 2 separate dates but I can't (we are doing the same thing according to them).  Palm is saying it's my phone but I just got a new one last night (755p).
Any ideas on what I should do?  By the way, I am able to log onto the web so that's not the problem.  I have set up my AOL and Yahoo on Versamail and they both sync fine.  Exchange ActiveSync won't sync anything, not even my Calendar (even when I did it separately).
I would appreciate any help you can give me.  Many Thanks.

We finally solved this problem. We thought the requirment is to have Server 2003 R2 but it turns out also that installing Exchange Server release 2 solves this  problems.  As soon as Exchange release 2 was ugraded, the initial sync worked and OTA Push was working just fine.

  • Sprint Palm 755p IMAP Folders not recognized on server

My phone will check for email and then give me an error that the folders are not recognized on the server.  I host my own email through Register.com and my own domain.  The settings should be correct b/c when I am in the email program of my phone--drop down menu--snych server folders--the phone tells me that Folders-Draft, Trash, sent are not recognized.  I press "ok" and another pop up screen asks me to check the folders to sych.  My only choice is "Inbox" which is already checked.  I press OK and my phone gets my emails.  I cannot simply press "get" from my email program to have the phone get my email.
How do I set up my phone so that it recognizes what folders are needed to access email?  Also, from my email program, I have teh choice to look in the Inbox, outbox, drafts, sent, junk email folders, but I can also edit these folders.  Should they have to be edited so that they match teh folders from my email account?
I used to use pop settings with no problems at all.  Since I changed email hosts adn switched to IMAP, email does not work at all from phone.  Any help is appreciated.  I have been on the phone for about 5 hours between Register.com, Sprint and Palm...to no avail...

I think IMAP settings should be the same between VersaMail and your desktop mail client for the same account (e.g., Outlook Express, Thunderbird). If the desktop mail client works and the device does not, I wonder whether Sprint has some special requirements for access through its network?

  • Palm 755p just falls short in one aspect for me.

I bought my Palm Treo because I am frequently making appointments and I needed a user friendly calendar app with an hour by hour view. This phone has been pretty much what I needed, and it blows away the competition in that aspect.
However, the one feature that it is missing, is the capability to take the contact info from a current phone call and directly plug it into a scheduled time slot on the hour-by-hour calendar.
So, I'm not sure where the proper place to make suggestions is located, but this feature would be an amazing upgrade for future phones or even as downloadable upgrade for the current 755p.

Although you do not have this function natively on the Treo,  I have done some research on the internet and found this program for Palm OS that may be what you are wanting to do.
It states you can add modify the calendar while on a call.

  • Treo 755p (sprint) shuts down while it is charging over night

My Treo 755p seems to be shutting down or going into some sort of sleep mode over night when I plug it in to charge.  Every morning when I wake up I have to hit the home button to get it to "wake-up" and you can tell by the clock that is freezes around 2 o'clock every morning and its basically like the device is turned off from then on.  I use my phone as my alarm clock so this is a huge problem!  It seems like when it is frozen like this, the device thinks it is was what ever time it was when it shut down, so if it freezes at 2, my alarm doesn't go off at 6.  I've checked through the preferences and don't see anything that deals with this.  Any thoughts?
Post relates to: Treo 755p (Sprint)

This feature sets the device to go off after a certain amount of time of inactivity. In your case, it is set to go off after it is not being used for 1 minute.
In order to determine if the problem is in your device or in the software that was installed, you will need to perform a hard reset. What you should do is sync your palm first so all your info is backed up on your computer and then perform a hard reset. Then, if you still have this problem after the hard reset is performed, the device itself is defective and needs to be replaced. If this problem doesn't come up anymore, you can reinstall the programs again (or sync your treo to the computer to get all the info back again) and then see if this problem comes up again. If it starts shutting down again in middle of the night, you will need to determine which program is causing this problem.
Let us start with step one. Did you sync this device to your computer yet? If not, sync it.
Then perform a hard reset. Do you know how to do that or do you need instructions?

I used the Treo 755 with XP with very few problems.  I have tried and failed 6 or 7 times to connect to Windows 7.  The installation takes me to the syncronize step and it dies there.  When it won't sync I can only skip the step.  It won't let me go back.  I need to backup before I lose something important.  Plus I have files I want to transfer and can't.  Ideas?

I ask you the same question we ask everyone else having problems with Win7 - what version of Win7 do you have?  32bit or 64bit?
It's well known that you cannot sync via USB cable to any 64bit OS - Access (the company that owns Palm Desktop) never bothered to write drivers for XP/Vista/Win 7 64bit versions!
Only workaround is syncing via a wireless method - BlueTooth, Infra-red, or Wifi.
Please read this sticky thread set up in the HotSync area of the Forum concerning Win7 syncing:

  • Treo 755p Sprint Quit Syncing Videos

Had a Sprint Palm 755p since May 2007 which worked pretty good.  About a month ago,  HotSync hung and wouldn't work after that.  Before I could HotSync with both my prime desktop running Win XP Pro and my laptop running Win XP Home.  The first time it was on the Win XP Pro machine.  Eventually I tried it on the XP Home system with the same result.  Since then I have tried to troubleshoot the problem.   I even reformatted the 2GB SD card twice.  While trying to reload the data from the backup that I discovered that everything but Videos seemed to work fine.  It appears to only be a problem when I'm trying to load 3g2 video files from my computer to the Treo.  I took some videos on the Treo and the HotSync worked at getting them to my Laptop.  However, whenever I try to load any video from my laptop to the Treo it hangs during Synchronizing media.  This morning I updated from whatever version came with the Treo to Palm Desktop 6.2/HotSync 7 and get the exact same result.  Trying to cancel doesn't work and I have to use Task Manager to kill HotSync and reboot both the Laptop and the Treo.
Incidentally, I tried converting one of the videos mentioned above that I managed to HotSync to my laptop and the conversion software said there was a problem with the file format not matching the file extension.
Any ideas on what's going on here and how to fix it?

All I need to know is what is under contacts and calendar. To view the hotsync log right click the hotsync manager icon next to your clock in the bottom left. Then to go settings. Once there you should have a link that says view hotsync log. Click on that and look under contacts and calendar.
Also did you install wireless sync on the device?

  • Palm 755P and audio book and ebooks

How can I download audio books onto my treo 755p so I can listen to books?  Also, to read books on my treo-- i downloader the ereader... is this the same as Adobe pdf reader? My library has books in this adobe format that I can download, which I would like to take advantage of..  Thanks for you knowledge!
Post relates to: Treo 755p (Sprint)

Hello dmbj891 and welcome to the Palm forums.
Are you talking about converting audio books that you already own on CD or are you talking about purchaing audio books in .mp3 format?  If you are looking to purchase audio books in .mp3 format, you will want to check out Audible.com.  If you want to convert ebooks you already own, I would use either iTunes or Windows Media Player to convert the audio CDs into .mp3 files, and then copy the .mp3 files to a miniSD card using a card reader connected to your computer.
With regard to ebooks, check with your local library to see if the books are encrypted with Digital Rights Management (DRM) software.  If they are, you will need an ebook reader specifically designed to work with the type of DRM on the ebook.  If the ebooks are protected Acrobat files, I don't think that there is a reader that will allow you to read them on a Palm OS device.
I use eReader Pro (now free) from eReader.com.  I have also purchased a number of ebooks from both eReader.com and Fictionwise.com.  If you like reading ebooks, and buy them, you will want to sign up for the eReader newsletter as there is often a discount code you can use when purchasing books.  (eReader.com is now owned and operated by Fictionwise.)
    Hope that helps,

I have a new 64 bit Vista OS and I'm having all the same problems everyone else is.  I can't hotsync using the cable.  I purchased the bluetooth dongle (Kensington) that many have said works.  My phone recognizes the PC.  My instructions on the phone for the hot sync using bluetooth instructs me to set up a virtual serial port.  The instructions are not very clear.  This is where it falls apart for me.  Can anyone explain how to set up this virtual serial port?  Thanks.

Well I'm happy to report a successful solution.  At the recommendation of some other threads I went out and bout and ioGear GBU321 USB Bluetooth adapter and setup was a breeze and it works (although it is SLOOOOOOW compared to a cable hookup, allow some time and plug your treo in during your first sync).
To setup you do the following (And this may also work for your Kensington):
    Insert the driver CD
    Insert the dongle when asked.
    Install the drivers
Pair your device.  Basically go to the Bluetooth setup screen on the Palm and select "Trusted Devices".  You'll find the bluetooth adapter, select it and then either the palm or the PC will either provide or ask for a paring code.  The instructions will guide you through but basically you'll want to make sure the same numbers are entered on both screens (this prevents you from accidentally pairing with some random nearby computer)
This will actually set up your virtual port for you.
You then go into the hotsync manager and click "serial" and select the port just created from the pairing process.
If you don't know what port was created bring up "Control Panels" and select "Phone and Modem" (Assuming you are in "Classic View").
Click on the modem tag and you'll see something like "Standard Modem Over Bluetooth Link" and next to it will be the assigned port.
I hope that helps.  I know I was relieved to not have to trash either my Palm or my PC (Although when the Pre or an iPhone with a physical keyboard comes out all bets are off)

  • Palm 755p not supported in Leopard?

I have been syncing my Palm 755p in Tiger using Missing Sync for some time. Then I upgraded to Leopard... Missing Sync didn't hold a connection, and the 6.0 version seems to have it's own problems, so I decided to try iSync.
The problem is that iSync won't even recognize the phone! When I try to add the device it says, "This device is not supported by iSync". But I see that others are using it with iSync in this forum. Any idea what's happening here?
    I'm on a MacBook, with a 10.5.1
    Brad

i had the same issue. I just did not use isync. Only certain devices are supported by isync. i have a 755p Palm. The Palm Treo 755p is not supported on the palm Tungsten and Zire families. The Pocket PC is also not supported see http://www.apple.com/macosx/features/isync/.
You must purchase third party software from http://www.markspace.com/missingsync_palmos.php from mark sync for $39.95. Then your palm Treo 755p can sync with ical and mac address book. Then you can publish your ical and address book to .mac (dotmac).
First, I installed the version of Palm that came on the CD with my phone. Then, I installed the latest version of the Palm v 4.2.1 Rev D from the website at http://www.palm.com/us/support/macintosh/macdesk421revd.html#sysreq. Then I did a hot sync to secure my information. Then I purchased and installed the missing palm sync from mark space. Then I hot synced again. I followed the instructions of letting the mac overwrite the handheld for the first sync. So after the sync i had to export my calendar and contacts from palm then import into ical and address book. Then I synced again.
Afterwards, I published to my .mac and selected update automatically. No problems ever since.
PS. I am running Leopard 10.5.1 on the new 24" imac.
