Palm Centrol - no calendar after Palm Desktop re-installed

After I had to replace the hard drive on my laptop, I downloaded the Palm Desktop 6.2 software and installed it.  The result I got was this:
The calendar is gone.  Can anyone help me to get it back?

  • Problem sycing calendar after BB Desktop upgrade

I have the style 9670 and I just (an hour ago) upgraded to the new desktop OS...I still use Outlook 2003, but that's no excuse for this silly thing to not be syncing my calendar anymore. It syncs my notes and my contacts...it's just the calendar that isn't sycing at all. No appointments from my BB appear in my Outlook. I've tried restarting everything. I've tried looking at the calendar settings on my device to "see if the correct calendar is selected" and I can only chose between facebook and my gmail account, so I have a feeling that advice doesn't exactly apply here. Please help me fix this. I was in Love with this phone and this is our first real fight. I want us to make it through.

Since this has been an issue since the day before yesterday, hopefully you already have it resolved - but if not, here's a start. This has to do with the email address that is attached to each appt by default. Try the following:
TO CHANGE EMAIL DESIGNATION FOR CALENDAR EVENTS: While in Calendar, click Options button, then
Type "move." Follow instructions from there. I used this technique on my Tour per instructions from Verizon phone support, and hopefully the fix is good for the Style.

  • More Problems with the Calendar in Palm Desktop 6.2

Just downloaded Palm Desktop 6.2.  When I snych my Palm Centro it freezes while trying to synch the calendar.  Suggestions to fix or go back to my old desktop program?
I tried to restore my computer to an earlier version but for some reason it won't.

    Hello Bobcaty and welcome to the forums;
What prompted you to update to PD 6.2? Was your Centro syncing fine on the previous version of PD?
Try skipping the Calendar sync in Hotsync Manager and see if everything else syncs. If so, you may have corruption in your calendar files. Download and install DBFixit from Plimco Software: http://www.pimlicosoftware.com/dbfixit.htm
It's free to use and find any corruption, if you want the program to automatically fix anything you would need to pay for the full version. Otherwise you would need to manually delete any records it marks as corrupt.
    Hope this helps,

  • WOES: iSync, Palm Pilot, iCal, Missing Sync, Palm Desktop, Ericsson Phone

Here's my situation, I've been a long time Palm user, and fairly recently (within a year) a new Mac user. I've always used the Palm Desktop on my PC in the past. I've had a Palm Vx for years, and fairly recently (within a year) I bought a Palm Zire 72 and a Sony Ericsson S170a cell phone. I also have an iPod Photo.
I really would like to sync up my address book, calendars, memos, maybe even photos, with all my devices. I tried using iSync, but nothing seam to work right, so I tried a million things, now everything is messed up.
For right now, I'm just trying to get my Palm Pilot, the Mac, and the Phone to have all the same calendar events (w the correect times, alarms, colors, and groups).
I'm really frustrated with trying to get the mac's iCal, the palm pilot, the phone to all have the same calendar info. I really like iCal, and the mac address book, and how well it works with the mail app. As well as subscribing to shared iCals. Especially the holiday ones! I use to have to enter all that info by hand, and have them "other" repeater. The Palm Desktop software's calendar and address book is pretty clunky compared to the Mac apps, or even the Palm Desktop for the PC. But everything is messed up now. I even tried the "missing sync" software and it messed it up even worse.
Several of my cal events are now GONE from iCal, my Palm Pilot, and my Phone! Many of them have duplicates, some have wrong times. Some have right groups, some don't. The ones that do have right groups, don't have any colors applied to them. If I create certain calendars on the mac and sync with the palm, the groups do not come over. If I create them on the Palm, the groups don't come over on the mac. Getting the colors/groups to match, and all 3 items to sync all at once is a nightmare as well. There were a million conflicts, and chose the correct ones, but some of them would NOT let me pick the one I wanted, it would just keep on saying "conflict".
What would AT LEAST get me back to the original info on the Palm and the Mac would be to restore from my Palm Desktop software, but I can't get to that because it looks like the missing sync software has messed the conduit/hot sync manager up. I can no longer get to my Palm Desktop condiut settings. I'd re-install the palm software to get it back, but I will probably loose all the data stored in Palm Desktop. This is the ONLY place that has the correct info right now. I'm varry warry about loosing that information. I use to have the PC copy, and the Palm Copy, and it was all right. The Palm Desktop has an import/export feature, but it doesn't seam to carry all the info (like notes attatched to cal events).
Also, has anyone tried to RESTORE a Palm Pilot not using the Palm Desktop software? When I had to reset my Palm, I tried using iSync or even missing sync to get all my apps, settings, calendars, address books, everything, but it never put the info back on the Palm. This info was always restored with Palm Desktop.
And let's just say I DO get back all my calendar items back into the Palm, and the Palm Desktop software up and running correctly. What is the proper way to do what I was trying to do in the begining? Which was "just have my Palm Pilot, the Mac, and the Phone to have all the same calendar events (w the right times, alarms, colors, and groups)." I don't seam to have too many problems with contacts. Except work/home fields seam to swap all the time.
    What I'm running:
    G4 PowerMac w/ Mac OS X Tiger (10.4.3)
Palm Pilot Zire 72s (Palm Software v5.2.8)
    Missing Sync (v5.0.3)
    Palm Desktop Mac (v4.2.1)
    Sony Ericsson S170a Cell Phone
    iPod Photo 60GB
G4 PowerMac   Mac OS X (10.4.3)   Palm Pilot Zire 72s (Palm Software v5.2.8), Missing Sync (v5.0.3), Palm Desktop Mac (v4.2.1), Sony

Where to start? Maybe with some background about the synchronization process.
What Apple hasn't explained outside of the developer community is that you are not actually synchronizing applications [like iCal or the Address Book] or servers [like .Mac] or devices [like your mobile handset or a Palm organizer] when you initiate a synchronization. What you are really doing is triggering an interaction with one or more of these and the SyncServices engine, which maintains what is termed the 'truth database'—or simply, the 'truth'—to which is pushed, or from which is pulled, the current state of data maintained in fields and records for one or more specific data types. Because of the way this process works, it is not necessary to have all synchronized devices available or attached when a synchronization event occurs.
You can synchronize your SONY Ericsson S710a, a process which exchanges the most current data maintained in the truth with it, and hours later, plug in your iPod, an action which will trigger iTunes to pull the latest data from the truth and write it to the iPod, updating your contact and calendaring records. The same is true for other applications, servers and devices.
While it all seems clumsy and confusing, it is actually a huge step forward in making synchronization nearly automatic, almost transparent, and virtually mistake proof. It's clear that there is some distance to go before those objectives are achieved, but SyncServices is actually a huge improvement over the prior synchronization technology in iSync 1.5 and earlier.
That said, there are bugs in SyncServices, and in the applications written by several developers to take advantage of it, along with issues in at least iCal, and probably the Address Book, that complicate what you are trying to achieve. It's possible to do, and once working, should work nearly flawlessly. But, it takes some planning to get there.
First, a word about backing up your data. It's a good idea to periodically back up contact and calendaring records using the facilities built into iCal and the Address Book which appear in the File menu of each application. These options make easily restorable local snapshots of your data. Should something go terribly wrong with a synchronization event, you can immediately restore your iCal or Address Book data from these files. In addition, it's a good idea to have a more comprehensive backup plan in place, using Backup and .Mac, Backup and rewritable media, and so on.
To synchronize photos, music and other media files, you'll need to use the Missing Sync for Palm OS. iSync just does not support anything beyond contact, calendaring and task data. To begin the process, you should simplify your device pool, initially concentrating only on getting a complete, accurate set of contact, event and task records pushed to the truth from the Address Book and iCal, and onto your Palm.
You will have to take an inventory of where the best records reside, and insure that you get them into iCal and the Address Book before attempting to synchronize your Palm, because to do it properly, initially, you will have to overwrite the data on your Palm, replacing it with records from iCal and the Address Book. If you're going to edit them by making additions, changes and deletions, perform all of those in iCal and the Address Book until you have synchronized your Palm device or devices with them. Backup before performing the initial synchronization, and be sure to overwrite each Palm device the first time.
If you want a historic snapshot of the data on either Palm device before doing this, first follow the instructions provided by Mark/Space to use the standard Palm conduits instead of Mark/Space Contacts, Events and Tasks, and be sure to set each Palm conduit to Palm overwrites handheld in order to transfer the data from your Palm Vx and Zire 72 to the Palm Desktop. Once there, those records can be exported as vCard and vCal files, and easily imported into the Address Book and iCal if you wish to do that. Edit them as you see fit, once they have been transfered. If you elect to do that, you must thereafter turn off these Palm conduits and reconfigure the Missing Sync to use the Mark/Space conduits, again choosing to have your computer replace the contents on each Palm device on the first synchronization.
Once you've achieved a 'balance' with the records in iCal, the Address Book and your handheld organizers, you can reset the records on your mobile handset. iSync alone performs this function, and later synchronization events with your SONY Ericsson S710a will always be manually triggered, and performed using iSync, not the Missing Sync. Reset once, and subsequently synchronize.
Anything else you want to add to the mix—.Mac Sync, for example—you can then add, initially performing a reset of your .Mac data, then subsequently synchronizing.
Synchronization of your iPod is handled by iTunes and only pulls data from the truth, so it need not be reset, as it cannot write changes to the truth which would adversely affect your other devices.

  • Calendar Sync, Palm Zire 31 and Mac OS 10.4.6

We just purchased several Palm Zire 31 handhelds because that model is one on Oracle's list as "certified" to work with Calendar Sync. However, I cannot seem to get it to sync properly to Oracle Calendar. Prior to installing Calendar Sync it synced to my Palm Desktop data just fine. Please point me in the right direction.
Here are all the versions and hardware:
Powerbook G4 running Mac OS 10.4.6
Palm Zire 31 running Palm OS 5.2.8
    Palm Desktop software 4.2.1
Oracle Calendar Sync 9.0.4.2.10 (installed on Zire 31)
    Palm HotSync Manager 3.2
    Oracle Calendar (desktop software) 10.1.1.0.2.694

I don't sync a Zire 31, but I do sync a variety of Treos and Tungsten units with 10.4.x. I sync my Events and Tasks with Oracle and my Addresses with the Apple conduit.
Here are the directions I have come up with:
First, make sure you are using the latest Oracle Palm Sync (sounds like you are)
Second, make sure you have the latest iSync Palm conduit (version 3.0.2 under OS 10.4)
open the iSync application, go to the Devices menu, and choose Enable Palm Sync for this device
Click on the device name. Make sure Contacts is checked, but NOT Calendars
    Quit iSync
Open Palm Desktop -> HotSync -> Conduit Settings
choose iSync Conduit and click Conduit Settings. Check the box to enable Palm Sync for device
Open MacintoshHD -> Library -> Application Support -> Palm Hotsync
    move Apple into Conduits folder
move Oracle Calendar Address Conduit into Disabled Conduits folder
HotSync, and you should be good to go.

  • Palm profile contacts, calendar etc lost

My Palm Pre (running WebOS 1.4.5) recently became faulty. O2 replaced it with a refurbished Pre.
I'd forgotten my password for my Palm profile, so I was sent an email with a link to reset the password, which I did.
When entering my new password (to use my existing Palm profile), the new Pre complained about not being able to sync my data (or words to that effect). After booting, it seemed that none of my data was present, certainly not my contacts or calendar. Nor did my Pre download the apps that I had previously installed on my old Pre.
I upgraded the firmware on the new Pre to 1.4.5 (as it was running something older than that initially, I forget exactly what). I then fid a "Full Erase", and re-entered my Palm profile details.
This time, it managed to automatically download all the apps I had previously installed. However, still none of my contacts (other than those on my SIM) or calendar are present.
After all that, my question: Can I recover my contacts and calendar information?
    Thanks,
    Philip.
Post relates to: Pre p100ueu (O2)

Oh dear.  Yes, the Palm Profile is supposed to be backed up once every 24 hours or so.  It should have stored all your contacts and made them available on your replacement phone.  I wish I could help you, but I don't know of any way you can get access to the data stored on your Palm Profile.  Really, HP/Palm should give all users access to their Palm Profile data, it's ridiculous that it's otherwise.

  • Palm IIIxe - Fatal Alert after HotSync; [Reset] soft button doesn't; Paper Clip just returns Fatal Alert

I'd done a HotSync and left Palm in cradle; went to work without it so called wife to have her check something for me.   She reported a MEMORY EXCEPTION error, which I've seen before, so I told her hit the soft [Reset] button offered.
She did, and it came back after the "Palm Powered" splash screen with a Fatal Alert and another soft [Reset] button.   No amount of clicking this button will reset it.
Using the paper clip reset, I loop thru the splash screen and another Fatal Alert.   Beyond that, nothing.
Here at the office, desperately needed to see some data which was on the Palm, so brought up the Palm Desktop (v4.1.0).   And was confronted with a Windows XP exception -- do you want to send an error report?     Downloaded and installed v4.1.4 from the website and Palm Desktop works again.
Makes me wonder if there's some kind of date/time issue, that would have triggerd sometime between 11/28 and 11/30, that affected both Palm Desktop v4.1.0 AND the Palm OS that I'd been running on Palm IIIxe unit (the most recent version that WOULD run on IIIxe,
insofar as far as I can tell now, with not being able to get past this Fatal Alert).
Looked for the various cited tinyurl links in this forum that point to reset documentation (hoping for the least destructive; since my last backups would have been done likely in the hotsync that was aborted), yet those links all apparently point to hosts that cannot be reached.
I LOVE my IIIxe and do NOT want to have to upgrade hardware and software for something I have to cradle and sync in order to recharge.  Give me a machine that I can replace the batteries at any 7-Eleven or Wal-Mart no matter where I travel.

Not sure what caused this but with the fatal alert message you typically need to hard reset the handheld.
If you had Palm desktop open while Windows, virus software or any apps that do updates did an update and caused the error.
Are you still getting the fatal alert message? You need to hard reset the handheld if you are.
Click on the following link to the kb.palm.com webpage for the article regarding reset procedures.

The best way to preserve your data is to export the data in each category in Palm Desktop to a seperate folder on your PC.
Create a new folder on your PC somewhere that is convenient. Name it something like Palm Desktop Data. Click on the link below and follow the instructions on that page for the export procedure.
    http://www.palm.com/cgi-bin/cso_kbURL.cgi?ID=28734
Make sure you select all for the range in the export window.
With the data saved in the folder you created, make a copy of that folder and save to a flash drive, cd-rw or external hard drive.
Anytime you make a change in Palm Desktop, export the data that was changed to that folder and save again to the external media.
With this process you can always import the data back into Palm Desktop anytime you have a problem with the data in Palm Desktop or if your computer/hard drive/device crashes.

When starting quick install, i get informed that 'an unidentified programme wants to access my PC' its the quick install .exe , however when i grant the programme safe i get informed that palm desktop quick install has stopped working and i will be notified if there is a solution.... which inevitably there is not! Any idea's?
    Post relates to: Tungsten E2

    barrybaillie,
These warnings sound like the Vista's UAC kicking in. If this is the case, you should know that Quick Install does not work in Vista.
The downloadable Desktop 6.2.2 for Vista has a replacement to Quick Install that does work - but the Desktop itself is truly terrible and loses many other functions (Expense, NotePad, VersaMail, colour-coded events, Birthdays and Anniversaries) that you may have come to expect from your Desktop.
If your current Desktop is otherwise working as expected, you should know that an alternative to Quick Install already exists on your machine and this does work on Vista. The easiest way to access it is to right-click the program you wish to install, then  > Send to... > Palm Powered Handheld. This is a shortcut to the program instapp in the Palm folder.
An installation window will pop up (a UAC confirmation *may* pop up and can be dismissed) showing the chosen program ready for Hotsync. At this point you may also Add other programs/files. Hotsync when ready.
A further alternative that I understand works with Vista is the freeware Pilot Install (  http://www.freewarepalm.com/utilities/simplyinstall-pilotinstall.shtml ) and which bypasses Palm's software entirely.
    Hope this helps!

  • Calendar data in desktop DISAPPEARED, now Calendar will not sync at all.

The first problem is that after a successful hotsync, all data in Calendar desktop is gone.  I tried to restore the data by syncing one way from the Treo 680, but it locks up during the sync.  It stops at the point where it says "6 of 16 files", then I have to use the Task manager to stop it and restart the computer. All other applications work fine and will sync just fine if I disable Calendar in the conduit.
I have Windows Vista, 32 bit, a Palm Treo 680 unlocked, a Palm Tx, and am using Palm version 6.2.2.
I do not see all the data in the .mdb file. It only has 392 KB.  My .mdb.bak file has 6642 KB, but it won't copy over.  I am not familiar with these new Vista files, so I don't want to mess with them.  In XP, you could copy and paste or change the .bak to .dat and vice versa.
I have tried live Chat and have spent almost 10 hours with them trying many different things.  PLEASE HELP ME.
I've tried dbScan, which showed no corrupt files in my device, I've tried syncing to another computer, but that computer has xp and Palm 4.1.2, and won't work.  I did have 4.2 on this computer, it didn't sync and the analyst had me install 4.2.2.  It's the 4.2 program that is locking up whenever I try to sync the calendar.  I've tried reinstalling the program, and tried many soft resets on the device.
One analyst told me NOT to use 4.2 with Vista, another analyst told me TO use 4.2 and to reinstall it.  One analyst had me perform the dbScan, another analyst told me that program wouldn't find corrupt files.  One analyst told me to delete my user name, another told me that if I did that I would lose all my data in all the applications because the user name is linked with my data. One analyst told me to change the registry keys, another told me not to touch them if I didn't know what I was doing in there.  One analyst told me to try a hard reset on my device, but I really don't want to completely lose all my data.  When I explained that I have 2 devices, and how could both devices become corrupt at the same time, but work fine in other applications, he then said the Palm desktop was at fault. Now, he wants me to reinstall the 4.2, copy over the data from my old computer with xp (but that database isn't my current one), and restart anew.  I am not willing to try this until someone assures me that this will fix the problem.  As I said before, it was the 4.2 program that gave me problems in the first place.
    Thank you for your help.

"What is 6 of 16 that is locking up, I don't believe it is datebook and if that is the case you can disable that conduit temporarily so you can sync your datebook over, if it is datebook, then I would try a program called dbfixit you can get it from www.pimlicosoftware.com I don't know about dbscan and how well it is, but I find dbfixit to be a wonderful tool to find any corruption. "
Well, I don't know.  I am assuming it is 6 of 16 files that need to be synced.  I'm just telling you what the hotsync window says at the point that it locks up.
How do I disable the conduit and still have the datebook sync?  If it's disabled, how would it sync at all?  I have set the datebook to "do nothing" and the other applications sync just fine, but not datebook.
I will try the dbfixit as long as you can assure me it won't erase data.  Thank you

  • Need a method for importing Palm III data into a Palm Centro

I just bought a Palm Centro (Verizon), with the expectation of importing data from my old Palm III.  From the Palm III Desktop, I exported Contacts, Calendar, Tasks, and Memos into separate folders (this was done on a Windows XP PC) and copied the resulting folders & files onto a flash drive.  But when I try to import these files into the Palm Centro desktop (on a new Mac Pro with OSX), the backup files are not in a "recognized format."  Does anyone have a process for reliably getting the Palm III data into the Palm Centro?  Also, is there an easy way to purge unwanted Contacts/Calendar events from the Palm Centro handheld?  With all the trial and error, its accumulating a lot of garbage.  Thanks...

  • Sync Address to Contacts and Date to Calendar on my desktop software?

How can I sync Address to Contacts and Date to Calendar on my desktop software?  Entered info before I discovered that sync to TX only syncs Contacts & Calendar. Thanks!
    Post relates to: Palm IIIc

    Hello!
The palm desktop application uses Contacts and Calendar fields BUT really its the conduits in your hotsync manager that needs attention.  First be sure to install the Palm Desktop found on your Palm TX CD for it will have both the Calendar, Contacts, Memos, and Tasks conduits also the DateBook, Address, To Dos, and Memo Pad conduits.  The software should be able to identify which of these sets of 4 your device has and use the respected conduits to sync the data to Calendar and Contacts fields in Palm Desktop by just doing a hotsync.  Now in this case be sure to keep different user profiles for each device.  Are you tring to migrate data from Palm IIIc to the Palm TX?  Keep me posted.

    Hi there!
I'd like to help out with the calendar concern and ask a few questions.  If you tap on the calendar date to see the duplicate entry, are they color-coded the same? Is it all calendar entries duplicating, or just old/new ones? Are you syncing any other calendars to your phone, like a corp sync, facebook, etc. Also, were these events entered in on the computer or the phone? They may be multiplying due to several calendars.
Try to remove one calendar entry from your computer and see if it deletes both from the phone. Then, try removing a duplicating entry on the phone and adding it back in to see if it doubles again.
I did not find any other related issues with the calendar after the software update.
Please advise with more information so I can be of more assistance.
    Thank you!
