Palm Certificate Modification Tool

I just bought a Centro to replace my aging Treo 700w (buttons were wearing out after 2.5 years).  Waiting for the Treo Pro or Pre to hit Verizon, so need something simple for a stop-gap (hopefully no longer than a year - Verizon!)
Anyway, I need to install my company's custom security certificate in order to be able to to Exchange Active Sync.  From what I can tell, I need to use Palm Certificate Modification Tool to accomplish this.  But, I can't find the tool anywhere on the internet.  All the links to Palm's site are broken right now.  I just got off the phone with customer support and he said it might be back on the website in a week or two after they finish upgrading the site - a week or two!!!  Come on Palm, get your act together.  I asked the guy if he could email me the tool, and he said he would go check on that and immediately hung up on me.  What great customer service you have there.
Anyway, can someone point me to a place where I can download the Certificate Modification Tool.  If I have to wait two weeks for it, I'm taking this phone back and getting a non-Palm phone with Windows Mobile OS.  Hopefully someone can help me.  Thanks!!!

I am having the same issue with the Certificate Modification Tool.  I have not been able to synch my phone to my exchange server at work.  I was first told it would be a day or two, now two weeks later, I am told it will be at least another week.  Any suggestions on another place to get this tool?  Would verizon tech support be able to help in any way?

  • Step by Step Instructions for Installing Self Signed Certificate using Certificate Modification Tool

I am looking for some step by step instructions for installing the self signed certificate from my Microsoft SBS 2003 server on a Treo 755p and 750p.  In particular I need some help with the form of the actual certificate and how to use the Certificate Modification tool.
Some questions I have are as follows:
    1. When I install the certificate on a Windows Mobile device I used an exported version of the certificate.  This export is done using the DER x.509 format.  Is that the same form I’ll need for the Palm?  Do I need some other form? Can/should I just use sbscert.cer file that is generated when SBS is configured?
    2. Does the self signed cert need to be installed on the computer being used to update the Palm or do we just need to be able to access the appropriate .CER file?
    3. There are three things included in the PalmCertificatesTool.zip file:
                                    Trusted CAs (folder)
                                    Cert2pdb.exe
                                    PalmCertificates.exe
How do I use these tools?
    4. It looks like the PalmCertificates.exe file opens an interface that will allow me to browse to the desired .CER file.  Then I suppose I use the < Generate PDB > to create something that needs to then be uploaded to the Palm device?  Not having any real experience with a Palm device how do I upload and install this file?
    5. Once uploaded do I do something on the device to install it?
If there is some white paper that provides step by step instructions on doing this that would be great.
    Thanks,
    Walt Bell

    Thanks for that.
I have one question after reading the article 43375:
The article has you "Turn of AutoSync" and then "Reset the device".  It then indicates the device should be left idle.
The next step relates to running the PalmCertificates.exe, navigate to the certificate file and add it and then run the < Generate PDB > button.  Should the device be connected to the computer during this process? If so, at what point after the reset do you connect it to the computer?
    Thanks!

  • Free , local Certificate Authority tool ?

Could anyone please recommend a free Windows tool that can be used as a local CA ?
I'm looking for a "Certificate Authority" tool which we could ran locally on one of the company's machines.
The idea is, we'll use this CA to sign our certificates (Needless to say, this CA will be added to our clients/browsers trust-root).
Tool does not have to be very robust.
It should be able to run on Windows (preferrable with a graphical interface, but a command-line tool would also do).
    Thanks very much :)

Ive downloaded the binary windows version for the OpenSSL from (http:/www.slproweb.com/products/Win32OpenSSL.html.) however I couldnt find any instructions for how to use it .. Any recommendations?
One more question, I want to use a CA that generate certificates that can be passed then to Java Certification path API (Certification Factory class) in order to create certification paths and validate it ? so is OpenSSL the right choice?
    Thanks in advance,
    Somaya

No, but if you look in the Windows HotSync section of the forum you'll find a sticky thread at the top entitled "Clean uninstall instructions".

  • Certificate Management Tool?

    Greetings,
We're looking for ideas for an automated processes or product that are used to keep track of the many certificates that are in use in a large, complex Netweaver landscape.   Anyone have any experience or suggestion?  Thanks in advance.

Our internal PKI automatically sends a mail to remind us that a certificate will expire in the next 3 weeks.
    This works great for us.

  • Forming Secure Connection Problems

I just did a hard reset on my phone cause it was giving me so much problems, now I cant even get to the next screen to test to see if i can connect to my school's email server. I'm stuck on the Forming Secure Connection screen. The error message says "There was a problem with syncing. Can't connect to server. Please chec your network or server settings and try again". It's basically the same setting as I had before with the SSL checked (the IT guy told me I needed it checked). The detail section of the error says AirSAMStateMachine.c1913 14632". any advice would greatly be appreciated.

  • Possible to select self-signed certificate for client validation when connecting to VPN with EAP-TLS

In windows 8.2, I have a VPN connection configured with PPTP as the outer protocol and EAP : "Smart card or other certificate ..." as the inner protocol. Under properties, in the "When connecting" section I've selected "Use a certificate
on this computer" and un-checked "Use simple certificate selection".
My preference would be to use separate self-signed certificates for all clients rather than having a common root certificate that signed all of the individual client certificates. I've tried creating the self-signed certificate both with and without the
client authentication EKU specified, and I've added the certificate to the trusted root certificate authority store on the client. But when I attempt to connect to the VPN I can not get the self signed certificate to appear on the "Choose a certificate"
    drop down.
Are self signed certificates supported for this use in EAP-TLS? If it makes a difference, I'm working with makecert (not working with a certificate server).
    TIA,
    -Rick

    Hi Rick,
    Thank you for your patience.
According to your description, would you please let me know what command you were using to make a self-signed certificate by tool makecert? I would like to try to reproduce this issue. Also based on my experience, please let me
know if the certificate has private key associated and be present in the local machine store. Hence, please move the certificate from the trusted root certificate authority store to personal store.
    Best regards,

  • Macbook pro (retina) and photoshop - alt/option draggin art board not zooming or anchor mod tool

So I posted this in the apple forums... No response and it's been a couple days...
Anyon have any idea how to fix this?
I'm using the latest OSX, with the latest CC versions. I'm using a late model Macbook pro.
When I'm in photoshop and i use the alt/option key while using the pen tool, and I start to select and modify an anchorpoint, the artboard or file window starts to move.
Same for when I use the zoom tool.
Both tools switch to the appropriate modifier, pen to Anchor modifier, and zoom to zoom out  ( - ).
When I click or drag, they don't work. I think it's something to do with the ley bindings, but when I use my mac mini, i.e a desktop with full keyboard, I don't have this problem. It's seriously killing my productivity having to switch back and forth between the Pen tool and anchor modification tool. And lord knows the weird ways I have to deal with the zooming.
I'm using the track pad, a mouse, and a wacom. This issue is exhibited across all input devices.

Here is information on my upgrade from my previous work machine… which is a pc to the mac… as I also had/have a late 2008 macbook, which was actually good bait lol, was impressed by how it ran for an 2008 model of a computer..

    Intel® Iris™ Graphics 5100
    RAM 8GB
    Storage 512GB flash storage (SSD)
lighter than late 2008 Macbook and easier to carry...
The two old machines are still running and looked after them well, and giving them away as gifts… to those who don't have computers. I always worked with them on a desk surface, so they would not overheat when rendering still 3D artworks and animations, so it should last on average life span then...

  • HP iPAQ 5450 with Windows Mobile 2003 802.1x and certificates.......

This maybe a bit off topic but I am struggling trying to get some answers out of HP.
We have some HP iPAQ 5450/5550's all running Windows Mobile 2003 - to use 802.1x Authentication with PEAP or TLS-EAP we need certificates installing on the PocketPCs. We have a Windows 2000 Active-Directory integrated Certificate Authority that publishes certificates to W2K machines OK - initially HP didn't include any way of importing Certificates but have released the SDK Certificate Enrolment Tool (enroll.exe). We have tried for several days to get a certificate but to no avail and we are struggling to find any information out. Has anyone on here managed this? If so how?
    Thanks
    Andy

Obviously the WindowsCE devices can't be 'members' of the domain as they would need W2K to do that (create a computer account etc). The enrollment tool is available from HP's website (software & drivers etc). Once I installed the enroll.exe tool I modified the enroll.cfg file to request a 'computer' certificate from my CA, this is now installed and appears in 'Settings, System, Certificates'. I have yet to actually test this with a Cisco AP as I just can't get my hands on one.......

  • Import certificate in to Firefox certificate store using SCCM 2012 R2

    Hello,
I'm trying to figure out how to import a certificate in to the Firefox certificate store using SCCM 2012 R2 to push out to 8,000 computers. The only answer I have found was to import the certificate manually on my computer and copy the "cert8.db" file out of my "appdata\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\******.default\" folder and use this file to copy to all profiles on each computer. I have not tried this since I believe this is not a standard practice. Is there a Firefox certificate scripting tool that I can use to accomplish this or a recommended way?
    Thanks,

    Hi,
    It is listed here:http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/gg712298.aspx
There are a number of limitations to supporting workgroup computers:
Workgroup clients cannot locate management points from Active Directory Domain Services, and instead must use DNS, WINS, or another management point.
Global roaming is not supported, because clients cannot query Active Directory Domain Services for site information.
Active Directory discovery methods cannot discover computers in workgroups.
You cannot deploy software to users of workgroup computers.
You cannot use the client push installation method to install the client on workgroup computers.
Workgroup clients cannot use Kerberos for authentication and so might require manual approval.
A workgroup client cannot be configured as a distribution point. System Center 2012 Configuration Manager requires that distribution point computers be members of a domain.
