Which version of Vista?  32bit or 64bit?
Your only solution to sync with 64bit is via the Infra-red (IR) port on your Zire31...

  • Palm Desktop Will Not Open on Windows XP Pro

I have recently upgraded my Treo 700P to a Centro. I completely removed all palm software on my computer, rebooted and then reinstalled it. It has been working with no problem until today. I haven't installed any new software or removed any from my phone. When I try to open the desktop on my computer it freezes at the splash screen and then I get the Windows error message asking me if I want to send a report to Microsoft or not. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling software. I ran a scan disk. Nothing I do, seems to change anything. I started my computer in safe mode and tried to open it there and still won't open. I looked at my event log and I get this same log entry every time I try to open it. I noticed on the Palm website that there is a version higher than the software on my phone, but it doesn't seem to install onto my phone during the hotsync and regardless, I don't think one thing has anything to do with the other. I have checked that my files are not read-only and that I have full admin rights on my laptop. Why did this just occur out of the clear blue sky? How do I fix it?

Try this, Locate the palm folder. (C:/Program files/Palm or Palmone/*hotsync username*
Copy the contents of your hotsync username then delete it from the original location. (Repeat for each user you have) Then try to open the Palm desktop. It should prompt you to create a new username.

  • Palm Desktop Will Not Launch In Windows 7

Well, I may have a new wrinkle in the ongoing saga of Windows 7 - Palm problems.  I just loaded the Palm Desktop program to my Windows 7 32-Bit OS and then I did a Hotsync which according to the Palm Sync Manager went fine.  When I try to launch the Palm Desktop program on my computer I get the Windows message asking if I want to authorize the changes and when I click OK all I get is the Palm Desktop splash screen and then the program hangs up and just sits there.  I can launch other programs over top of the Palm Desktop program and my computer appears fine but the Palm Desktop program just will not complete its launch.  I guess it could be said that we have a "Failure To Launch".
Has anyone encountered this and do they have a fix?  Like so many people in these Forums I have been using Palm products for a long time and can't see not having one.  Thanks.
    Post relates to: Tungsten E2

This is an update to my previous post of earlier today.
I was able, after a lot of messing around and wasted time, to get my Palm to sync with my Windows 7 32-Bit OS.  I got a Palm error message telling me that "Not all data was backed up".  I absolutely hate the look and feel of the new 6.2.2 Palm Desktop.  It is extremely hard on the eyes and the print is so tiny it is just about uinreadable.
There is also a problem, with both the Lookup and Find functions in the Palm Desktop.  Neither of them work.  Whenever I try to do a search in Contacts the program locates something totally different than what I wanted ie:  search for Bradley and the program goes to Kimnach.  The Find function is just as useless, when I try to use it nothing happens and the program just sits there doing absolutely nothing.
Palm and Palm Pilots used to be good but now they are just another loser who couldn't make it.  I completely understand why Palm was noit able to make it, they simply didn't have a clue in the world and their users paid a price for their stupidity and failure to innovate big time.  If I didn't have so much at stake in terms of data I would pitch my Palm into the shredder and walk away from the whole mess that is Palm.
If anyone else has run into this mess and knows of a fix or a workaround please feel free to share it.  Thanks!

  • How do get palm desk top 4.2 for windows again?

About 1 year ago,had Palm m130 got Palm Centro, had problem transferring info. Called palm support they e mailed version 4.2 for windows. Had to put new hard drive in laptop. Would like to get 4.2

    It works fine for me.
    1. Click the link in my signature that says "Reading the Manual can be very enlightening".
    2. In the page that opens, click the link that says "Palm Desktop 4.2".
    3. Download and install the file that arrives.  If it doesn't work, your firewall or browser may be blocking things.

  • Palm Desktop 6.2.2 under Windows 8 missing modules after update from version 4.1.4

After installing Palm Desktop 6.2.2 over version 4.1.4 on my Windows 8 Laptop for use with my Palm Tungsten E2, I now have only 4 modules...Expense, Note Pad, Media and Install. Where did Calendar, Addresses, etc., disappear to?
Also, the HotSync Manager version 7.0.2 offers USB, Network and Serial, but NOT Bluetooth in the Connections settings. I use a Bluetooth adapter from IVT BlueSoleil and their version 8.0.395.0 driver/software, that works fine with anything else.
    This question was solved.

    GoneFishin6, I'd suggest a clean uninstall/reinstall of Palm Desktop.
Your issue is the first I've heard of.  Others report success with Win8.
These instructions are for Vista but should work for Win8.
You should first make a copy of your data to have just in case something happens. You can find your data files by going to Start --> Documents --> Palm OS Desktop. Highlight your Palm Desktop username and right click and copy. Then go to your PC desktop right click on a blank spot and select paste.
If this is the first time you are installing Palm desktop and encountering a problem, skip the previous step. If you are not concerned about your data at this point, skip the next step.
Now you want to uninstall Palm Desktop and remove everything that has to do with Palm Desktop from your computer. Go to the following locations on the PC and delete the folders listed below. C:\Program Files\Palm or Palm One C:\Users\[Vista Login Name]\appdata\local\virtualstore\Program Files\Palm or PalmOne C:\Users\[Vista Login Name]\appdata *Note you may need to view hidden folders to get to appdata. To do that go into your control panel and open folder options. Go to view tab and uncheck hide hidden files.
When using Palm desktop 6.2, look in my documents or documents and delete the PalmOS desktop folder. This is the location of the PD 6.2 data files.
Once this is done you will need to delete some registry keys from your PC Operating System.
Word of warning, going here and deleting the wrong thing can cause your PC from starting up, crashing and deletion of programs and data. If you feel you are unsure of yourself, see if you have a friend that can help you or a PC technician that you can pay to help you. This procedure will show them everything they need to delete. To make sure we have a good copy of the current registry, we need to do a backup of the Registry.
Go to start on the PC, in the search field type "regedit.exe" without quotes.
Highlight COMPUTER, go to File --> Export. Should pop up with a Save As box. Current location is fine, should be in My Documents or save to a location you will remember. In the file name on the bottom type "backup[todaysdate]" i.e. backup07072008. Next, the hard part.
The easiest way to make sure your working with the correct key, highlight the key i.e. palm quick install, and press delete on your keyboard. It will ask you, are you sure. Say yes. Do the same thing for all keys below.
If you make a mistake, stop what you are doing. And call a PC technician. BUT do not turn off your computer.
The reg keys are as follows (Note: some of theses reg keys will not be here but if they are delete them)
    * HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\U.S. Robotics\Palm Quick Install * HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\U.S. Robotics\PalmOne File Transfer * HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\U.S. Robotics\Pilot Desktop * HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Palm * HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Palm, Inc. * HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\PalmDesktopAutorun * HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\palmOne * HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\PalmSource * HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\PalmSource or anything else that says palm
    Next reboot your computer.
Then reinstall your Palm desktop from the CD and do a hotsync. If it asks you for a username, enter the name that is on your device in the upper right corner of the hotsync screen.

  • Palm Desktop 6.2 & Hotsync manager (windows) cannot access internet during installation

I think that I posted this in the wrong forum before. If not, I apologize for the duplicate.
I just upgraded to windows 7 32-bit. I have Palm T/X and I was trying to install Palm Desktop 6.2 software from palm website. However, during installation I keep getting messages that "Setup was unable to access the internet. Check your internet connection and verify that it is working". even when I am downloading from the internet. My internet works fine. Has anyone else had the same problem and what is the fix for it. Thanks in advance for your help.

  • Palm Desktop 4.1.0 for Garmin iQue3600

I have my Garmin iQue3600 synced with Palm Desktop version 4.1.0 which works fine with Vista but I can't use Help.  My iQue is dying and support has been totally discontinued, so I bought an iPod Touch to use as my PDA.  (I don't want a smartphone). How can I transfer my calendar, contacts and memos?   I thought to sync the iQue with Outlook2007 since I can't figure out how to export/import from Desktop to Outlook, but how do I do that?  I don't have a choice what to hotsync with- it always goes to desktop. Thanks.
    Post relates to: None

You will need to have two things. First is an upgraded version of Palm Desktop, located here: http://kb.palm.com/wps/portal/kb/common/article/32991_en.html. This will give you the option to pick for Outlook during install. In this case I suggest that you pick Palm Desktop still. Reason is you need another piece of software that will allow you to sync to Outlook 2007, located here: http://kb.palm.com/wps/portal/kb/common/article/8716_en.html. Then you can go to Start-->Programs-->Palm or PalmOne-->PIM Conduit Sync-->sync with Outlook. Then you should be able sync to Outlook.
Once this is done I suggest that you keep your data in Palm Desktop still due to if there is any missing data you still have a backup. After some time you should be all set to remove Palm Desktop and work with Outlook.

  • [Desktop][Other] Universal App for Windows 10

Spotify should consider developing a universal app for Windows 10 so it can be used on Desktops, Phones, Tablets and on the Xbox. You already have a Windows Phone app so I'm assuming the majority of the code is already written. Essential features such as connect need to added to the app also. Having Spotify on the Windows Store for desktop would be beneficial for users who are not tech savy and only use the store to install applications. There are a couple of people I know who wanted to try Spotify out and came back to me saying they "couldn't find it on the store". Seeing as Windows 10 will be a free upgrade to both Windows 7 and 8 users it would be a great idea to look into this.

Also with the lastest Windows HP will probably not support redoing drivers for older system as that will be cost prohibited to do. And it will be up to the Endusers to find the right drivers and software that matches their system to work with Windows 10 assuming they work with Windows 10. As to Dell that is something only Dell can answer that question and since we don't know if this is Dell Consumer or Business product since this falls outside of HP forums to discuss. You can't expect to have drivers if your system is too old to support Windows 10.

  • Desktop vs server hardware for Windows server

    Team,
I have purchased an HP Envy 700-215xt with Windows 7 OS , Intel i7, 8GB RAM, 2TB SATA disk.
I have reformated the harddisk completely and installed Windows 2008 Server software and will be installing few commercial applications such as Oracle training database, microsoft ERP or CRM.
Overall usage of this PC is going to be light with 10 training users. I had few driver issues that I have sorted out and for the most part, this desktop is in functional condition.
I wanted to find out if I need to be aware of any performance issues as it is a desktop and not a server hardware.  Since It is Intel i7, I thought it might be okay for us to give it a shot.   Do you think Intel i7 chip can handle 10 user workload with few high-end applications?
    Thank you in advance.
