Palm Desktop for Windows 7

No device
Zire 71 w/Palm os 5.2.1.  Just upgraded to Windows 7.  Is there any Palm Desktop that i can download to continue using my Zire?  Had 4.1 but could not get HotSync to work.  Not crazy about 6.2, but will take at this point if i can find to download.  Thanks.

    Palm wrote there desktop software for Windows 32bit. You need the Aceeca 64bit Windows driver for Palm desktop. If you have loaded and unloaded several different versions of the Palm desktop trying to get things to work you will also need to do a clean uninstall of the Palm desktop software, so everything will work properly. I would first try the Palm desktop version that you have installed on your computer and follow the directions given in the sticky post I have linked. Post back for more info if needed.

  • How to reinstall Palm desktop for Windows without losing all my desktop data

    I use a Palm T|X and Windows XP Pro.  I was using Palm Desktop 4.x but decided to upgrade to the latest version. 6.2.2.  I have had a lot of problems since then, HotSync does not work properly with CalorieKing and Palm Desktop complains about "switching users" each time I try to open Contacts.
    I want to uninstall Palm Desktop 6.x and reinstall Palm Desktop 4.x.  I know that my data will be safe if after the new install I tell HotSYnc to have the handheld overright the deaktop.  However, what about the programs?  Will they also get transferred from the Palm back to the desktop?   Will the conduits be set up correctly for Documents to Go, CalorieKing and my other applications, or will I have to reinstall them?
    Post relates to:

    The programs are still in place, but how does the "new" copy of Palm desktop know they are there?  Also, there are copies of the programs that are installed only on the Palm but not the Windows machines in one of the Palm desktop folders that use used to restore data to the Palm T|X. How do I save that data, without having to install all those programs yet again, even though they already exist on the palm?.

  • Troubleshooting Address Book issues using Palm Desktop for Mac (v. 4.2.1) and a T3?

    Can someone please make suggestions which would correct the following issues?
    1) When printing an Address Book from my Mac, the information in the "title" field prints twice. (I have checked my Preferences settings & reviewed how I have entered the information, etc. and everything is in order; also, an Address CARD DOES print correctly --- and --- after syncing to my T3 and then to my husband's PC, an Address Book prints correctly from the PC.)
    2) After I have synced the Address Book from my Mac to my T3, the "zip code" entries appear BEFORE the "city" entries on the T3. (The zip codes appear correctly on my Mac and print out correctly.)
    3) After I have synced the Address Book from my Mac to my T3, the "contacts" all appear in BLACK on my T3. Is there any way to show the different "contact categories" in COLOR on the T3 as they were originally entered in my Palm Desktop for Mac?

  • Palm Desktop with Windows XP PRO SP3

    Why the Palm Desktop doesn´t work since I have installed  Service Pack 3 - Portuguese - on my Windows XP PRO ?
    Post relates to: Zire 72

    Try the following to see if you can get Palm desktop to open.
    Locate your username folder on the PC. Look in c-programs-palm-username folder (this is the name you assigned in Palm desktop for the username).
    Click on the following link to the kb.palm.com webpage for the article regarding your username folder.
    http://www.palm.com/cgi-bin/cso_kbURL.cgi?ID=26674
    Rename the data folders one at a time and see if Palm desktop will open. Locate the address folder and rename it to address.old. Try to open Palm desktop and see if you get the same problem. If you do, rename the datebook folder to datebook.old and try to open Palm desktop. Rename each folder with the same method and try to open PD. If it opens after renaming a folder then the folder you renamed is the culprit. Once you get palm desktop open, try a sync with the conduits set to Handheld overwrites desktop.
    Let me know if it works. If it doesn't, then you will need to do a "clean" uninstall of Palm desktop.

  • Palm desktop for Zire 72 with Windows Vista, 32 bit

    I've tried the version 4.1.4e offered on the website, it is not working, though one page on the site seemed to omit that it would work for Vista.  What is strange is that it was working on my system just fine until a month ago.  I've uninstalled what I had, reinstalled, and still nothing.  Need help now!  Thanks.
    Post relates to: Zire 72

    Hello godsey and welcome to the Palm forums.
     Palm Desktop 4.1.4e should work on Vista, but in my opinion, Vista is still a bit quarky.  I moved up to Palm Desktop 6.2 on my Vista box.  The Zire 72 has the newer Palm PIM applications so it will sync to PDT 6.2.  If you are still having trouble, you might want to try the upgrade.  (I would encourage you to export your data from Palm Desktop 4.x before upgrading.  The upgrade process converts your data and there is no going backwards without a prior data backup.)
     Also, before downloading and installing Palm Desktop 6.2, make sure you read and understand the differences between Palm Desktop 4.x and 6.x.  There are some changes, and in Palm Desktop 6.2 by ACCESS for Windows there are some features that have been taken away.

    Hello DiegoK and welcome to the forums......
    I would try going into safe mode and following the instructions below.
    You should first make a copy of your data to have just in case something
    happens. You can find your data files by going to C:\Program Files\Palm or
    Palm One. Highlight your Palm Desktop username and right click and copy.
    Then go to your PC desktop, right click on a blank spot and select paste.
    Now you want to uninstall Palm Desktop and remove everything that has to do
    with Palm Desktop from your computer. Like the above folder, delete the Palm folder. Once this is done,
    you will need to delete some registry keysfrom your PC Operating System registry.
    Word of warning, going here and deleting the wrong thing can cause your PC
    to not start up, crashing and deletion of programs and data. If you feel
    you are unsure of yourself, see if you have a friend that can help you or a
    PC technician that you can pay to help you. This will show them everything
    they need to delete. To retain your current Registry settings, we need to do a backup of the Registry.
    On the PC, go to start and run type "regedit" without quotes
    Highlight MY COMPUTER, go to File --> export. Should pop up with a Save As
    box. Current location is fine should be in My Documents or you can change to a location you will remember.
     In the file name box, type "Regbackup[todaysdate]" i.e. Regbackup07072008. Next, the hard part.
    The easiest way to make sure your working with the correct key, highlight the key i.e. palm quick install,
    and press delete on your keyboard. It will ask you, are you sure. Say yes. Do the same thing for all keys below.
    If you make a mistake, stop what you are doing. And call a PC technician.
    BUT do not turn off your computer.
    The reg keys are as follows (Note: some of theses reg keys will not be here
    but if they are delete them)
    * HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\U.S. Robotics\Palm Quick Install
    * HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\U.S. Robotics\PalmOne File Transfer
    * HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\U.S. Robotics\Pilot Desktop
    * HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Palm
    * HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Palm, Inc.
    * HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\PalmDesktopAutorun
    * HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\palmOne
    * HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\PalmSource
    * HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\PalmSource or anything else that says palm
    Next reboot your computer
    Then reinstall your Palm desktop from the CD and do a hotsync. If it asks
    you for a username and you synced your device before, put in 'test" if you
    did not sync before you create a hotsync name.

    hello all , i got mine up and running late last night and thought that since it drove me nuts i would share how i did it with others having the same problem, for fyi i am using a sony clie sj22 and hotsyncing with an usb cable for reference with palm OS4.0 i think.
    1. dont install the software just yet please follow
    2.let palm desktop thru thye firewall program and make an exception for it there.
    3. disable and antivirus software as it sees palm as a threat.
    4.now install palm desktop i used my old version palm desktop 4.0 BUT DONT INSTALL THE PROGRAM IN PROGRAM FILES try somewhere else like documents( this i read on another site where someone tried it but failed there).
    5.now turn on your palm pda and open up hotsync page, up in the upper left screen corner touch the hotsync tab and down should come a sub menu, form here you need to set up all of your conduits,modem sync preferencesmconnection setup etc make sure they are set for how you will be hotsyncing.
    6.now open up the desktop program and on your toolbar you should see the hotsync icon click on this and set  set the options here.
    7.now you should be able to hotsync(communicate) from the pda to the computer .
    Hope this helps , sorry that some one like me had to figure it out by staying up late until i got it .
    MICROSOFT apparently doesnt care if you fix it that way you bite the bullet and buy a windows mobile device.
    and PALM i think about the same
    too bad if you think about all the millions of these devices out there they are pissing alot of people off and losing sales from it.

  • Palm Desktop - Can download but can't access Palm Desktop for Treo 755p

    After 6 months of use, no problem with my Treo.  Last week my Palm Desktop won't let me access into it.  Have uninstalled/installed at least 6-7 times each.  Desktop downloads onto computer fine but I only see the front "page" if you will.  Keep getting this error ...
    Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library ... Runtime Error! ... Program C:\Program Files\Palm\Palm.exe ... This
    application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way.  Please contact the application's support
    team for more info.
    Have tried everything to override this error.  Installing, uninstalling, disengaging antisoftware, spoke with Palm Support via Live Chat (my analyst Vivian there was really helpful and tried but still stuck with same problem), have researched
    forums, the net, my how to guides, everything.  But no luck.  Someone suggested to try a different desktop.  Have researched that but can't even get into my App to see which version I have cause I'm locked out of it.  I have
    Windows XP Home SP 2 OS, Treo 755p Palm OS Garnet v.5.4.9.  I don't use the Treo as a phone, mostly as a
    portable PDA so only USB connection to computer.  I am not tech savvy.
    Post relates to: Treo 755p (Sprint)

    Thank you Pat for all your help.  Your advice worked.  A dash shows the specific folders and keys I located on my computer (for those reading this and have exact same problem, you might have same and/or the other keys).  I trust you gave all variable folder and key names. It worked perfectly the first time.
    I had not made a backup or rename of my backup folder but as it was still in my Garbage Bin, I restored it after the fact.  The restored Palm Folder files scattered all over my computer.  When I tried to reinstall after the Restore, same Microsoft error blocked me again out of Desktop.  Not knowing what files to really delete, but determination and "painfully" did a search by both my Treo username and "Palm", sifted thru every file, sent back to garbage bin, cleaned registry again, reinstalled, and held my breath as computer restarted.
    Everything is cleaned out, running smooth and I have my backup folder.
    Might I add to the viewers not to save a backup of the backup folder AFTER the fact.  Either rename or save a duplicate outside of the Program Folder to avoid hours of needless work.  Again thank you so very much for helping me.
    Next:
    Delete folders:
    - C:\Palm
      C:\Program Files\Palm
      C:\Program Files\PalmOne
      C:\Program Files\Handspring
    Then go to Start > Run
    Type Regedit and click Run or OK
    Then delete keys:
    - HKEY_Current_User\Software\PalmDesktopAutorun
      HKEY_Current_User\Software\Palm

  • Migrating Palm Desktop from Windows to MAC

    I have just ordered a MAC and will receive it within the next few days.
    I need to know how to transfer my present data to the MAC. I hotsync with the Palm Desktop as that allows me to password-protect files, which Outlook doesn't. What are the steps involved in preparing and performing the first hotsync on MAC?? Also, I use "Documents to Go", will this application just tra sfer to the MAC? Thanks for any help.

    Hi Bruno! Are you Portuguese or Brazilian?
    Do you have an iPod, which you could use as a transfer way? If not I would recommend you to use the "Back up to disc" feature. Then just insert your DVD's in your new MacBook and import your library.
    If you want to use your iPod, then read this:
    First sync your content to the iPod.
    If you have purchased songs from the iTunes Music Store, then those are pretty easy to transfer to your computer. You'll just need to follow [this instructions|http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=305465].
    All your other songs (for example, those ripped from your CD's), you'll need to use any 3rd party program to transfer them to your iTunes library!
    Use one of this programs (all of them will preserve your metadata):
    [iGadget|http://www.ipodsoft.com/site/pmwiki.php?n=igadget.Homepage] (Mac and Windows)
    [iPod Access|http://www.findleydesigns.com/ipodaccess/index.html] (Mac and Windows)

  • OS 10.6.3 and Remote Desktop for windows server, PDF Printer problem

    We are using Remote desktop for mac by windows in the office to work on a remote windows server, On the server we are using a business software (Mamut) for sale. In OS 10.5 we are using the PDF Printer to transfer PDF (invoice) from the business software (Mamut) 'Mamut is seeing the PDF printer as any other printer' to the desk top of your mac, so we can attach the PDF to a mail before we send it out to a customer, but in OS 10.6 the PDF printer is removed! So we need a different way of transfer the PDF from the windows server to the mac desk top.
    So now I am wondering if any one has a suggestion on how to fix this! if not we can't upgrade to OS 10.6, and that would be a shame!

    The thing is that in Mamut, we hit print, and because we us the PDF printer as Printer for Remote desk top, it pup up on the desk top of the mac, as a PDF. But in OS 10.6 there isn't any PDF printer to install, so then we have to make a PDF on the windows server and move it from the server to the mac, by mounting the HD from the Mac to the remote desk top, so it become edible in from the server. I think this is cumbersome.
