  • Problem installing Palm Desktop on Windows Vista.

I am trying to install PalmDesktopWin414 on a couple different computers that are both running Windows Vista Ultimate. At the palmOne InstallShield Wizard welcome screen it generates the following error.
    Internal Error 2738.
This interrupts the installation and it does not complete. Any suggestions?

hello all , i got mine up and running late last night and thought that since it drove me nuts i would share how i did it with others having the same problem, for fyi i am using a sony clie sj22 and hotsyncing with an usb cable for reference with palm OS4.0 i think.
    1. dont install the software just yet please follow
2.let palm desktop thru thye firewall program and make an exception for it there.
    3. disable and antivirus software as it sees palm as a threat.
4.now install palm desktop i used my old version palm desktop 4.0 BUT DONT INSTALL THE PROGRAM IN PROGRAM FILES try somewhere else like documents( this i read on another site where someone tried it but failed there).
5.now turn on your palm pda and open up hotsync page, up in the upper left screen corner touch the hotsync tab and down should come a sub menu, form here you need to set up all of your conduits, modem sync preferencesmconnection setup etc make sure they are set for how you will be hotsyncing.
6.now open up the desktop program and on your toolbar you should see the hotsync icon click on this and set  set the options here.
7.now you should be able to hotsync(communicate) from the pda to the computer .
Hope this helps , sorry that some one like me had to figure it out by staying up late until i got it .
MICROSOFT apparently doesnt care if you fix it that way you bite the bullet and buy a windows mobile device.
and PALM i think about the same
too bad if you think about all the millions of these devices out there they are pissing alot of people off and losing sales from it.

  • Installing Palm Desktop on Windows 7

I originally tried to install from the CD that came with my Palm but when it couldn't find the device drivers for my Palm Centro, which I've had for more than a year, I uninstalled Palm Desktop, downloaded the latest version from the website and tried to reinstall again.  In both cases, the device drivers can't be found and I'm not sure what to do so that's why I'm contacting you today.  Please help - I would hate to have to get rid of my Palm and go to an iPhone just because you guys don't have everything compatible with Windows 7.

  • Instructions for a Clean Uninstall of Palm Desktop on Windows XP and Vista computers

A frequent cure for many Hotsync problems is to perform a clean uninstall, and then a reinstall, of the Palm Desktop software.  This involves more than just using the Add or Remove Programs utility in the Windows Control Panel.

  • Palm Desktop for Windows 7

    No device
Zire 71 w/Palm os 5.2.1.  Just upgraded to Windows 7.  Is there any Palm Desktop that i can download to continue using my Zire?  Had 4.1 but could not get HotSync to work.  Not crazy about 6.2, but will take at this point if i can find to download.  Thanks.

Palm wrote there desktop software for Windows 32bit. You need the Aceeca 64bit Windows driver for Palm desktop. If you have loaded and unloaded several different versions of the Palm desktop trying to get things to work you will also need to do a clean uninstall of the Palm desktop software, so everything will work properly. I would first try the Palm desktop version that you have installed on your computer and follow the directions given in the sticky post I have linked. Post back for more info if needed.

  • Palm Desktop on Windows 7, 64-bit

My Palm Vx broke long ago but I still have been using Palm Desktop 4.1 on an XP desktop as a rolodex.
I am soon to get a 64-bit Windows 7 machine.
How can I continue to access my Palm address book on the new machine?
I already made archives in .aba, .csv and vCard format of the address book on my old machine.
If Palm Desktop fails, anything else I can use?

  • Migrating Palm Desktop from Windows to MAC

I have just ordered a MAC and will receive it within the next few days.
I need to know how to transfer my present data to the MAC. I hotsync with the Palm Desktop as that allows me to password-protect files, which Outlook doesn't. What are the steps involved in preparing and performing the first hotsync on MAC?? Also, I use "Documents to Go", will this application just tra sfer to the MAC? Thanks for any help.
    Post relates to: Centro (AT&T)

Hi Bruno! Are you Portuguese or Brazilian?
Do you have an iPod, which you could use as a transfer way? If not I would recommend you to use the "Back up to disc" feature. Then just insert your DVD's in your new MacBook and import your library.
If you want to use your iPod, then read this:
First sync your content to the iPod.
If you have purchased songs from the iTunes Music Store, then those are pretty easy to transfer to your computer. You'll just need to follow [this instructions|http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=305465].
All your other songs (for example, those ripped from your CD's), you'll need to use any 3rd party program to transfer them to your iTunes library!
Use one of this programs (all of them will preserve your metadata):
    [iGadget|http://www.ipodsoft.com/site/pmwiki.php?n=igadget.Homepage] (Mac and Windows)
    [iPod Access|http://www.findleydesigns.com/ipodaccess/index.html] (Mac and Windows)
Hope this helps! If you still have doubts, please reply.

  • How to reinstall Palm desktop for Windows without losing all my desktop data

I use a Palm T|X and Windows XP Pro.  I was using Palm Desktop 4.x but decided to upgrade to the latest version. 6.2.2.  I have had a lot of problems since then, HotSync does not work properly with CalorieKing and Palm Desktop complains about "switching users" each time I try to open Contacts.
I want to uninstall Palm Desktop 6.x and reinstall Palm Desktop 4.x.  I know that my data will be safe if after the new install I tell HotSYnc to have the handheld overright the deaktop.  However, what about the programs?  Will they also get transferred from the Palm back to the desktop?   Will the conduits be set up correctly for Documents to Go, CalorieKing and my other applications, or will I have to reinstall them?
    Post relates to:

The programs are still in place, but how does the "new" copy of Palm desktop know they are there?  Also, there are copies of the programs that are installed only on the Palm but not the Windows machines in one of the Palm desktop folders that use used to restore data to the Palm T|X. How do I save that data, without having to install all those programs yet again, even though they already exist on the palm?.

Try the following to see if you can get Palm desktop to open.
Locate your username folder on the PC. Look in c-programs-palm-username folder (this is the name you assigned in Palm desktop for the username).
Click on the following link to the kb.palm.com webpage for the article regarding your username folder.
    http://www.palm.com/cgi-bin/cso_kbURL.cgi?ID=26674
Rename the data folders one at a time and see if Palm desktop will open. Locate the address folder and rename it to address.old. Try to open Palm desktop and see if you get the same problem. If you do, rename the datebook folder to datebook.old and try to open Palm desktop. Rename each folder with the same method and try to open PD. If it opens after renaming a folder then the folder you renamed is the culprit. Once you get palm desktop open, try a sync with the conduits set to Handheld overwrites desktop.
Let me know if it works. If it doesn't, then you will need to do a "clean" uninstall of Palm desktop.

Hi, I Upgraded to Windows 7 Beta Build 7000 from Vista Home Premium SP2 (RC1) 32 bit. So Palm was already installed on my system. I sync to Outlook 7, but on Win 7 I cannot sync probably because the OS won't recognize my 755. I have had this same problem with Vista, but eventually it recognized my Palm. Interestingly every other program I had on Vista worked fine with Win 7 except McAfee, and I was able to get ahold of their beta to install. Interestingly Win 7 flagged McAfee as not being able to work with the OS. Palm seems to be behind the curve when a new OS is released by Microsoft. It took forever before they got something for Vista. I'm not sure if they will put much effort on getting the older Palm units to work with Win 7, as their efforts seem to be more with the new Web OS and the Pre. Hopefully that will work with Win 7. Is there a way to make Palm aware of the problems with Win 7? FYI The latest build of Win 7 (7048) has supposedly fixed some of the problems, and changed some of the look of the OS. Barry Heath

I have tried, unsuccessfully, to sync my desktop running Windows 7 (x64) with my Zire 72 using Hotsync Manager 6.0.1 through a USB connection.   The software does not appear to install properly, as it stops in the middle of downloading the latest information (it gives a message saying that there is no internet connection - yet I just downloaded the software using the internet!).

Thanks it is nice to know that there is someone keeping Palm going for those of us that like our devices. I have had some problems with downloads in that the result was I had to restart my HP computer from zero and may be just a little more cautious than I was before that event. I used what I did so I wouldn't have to take a chance with any download. Thanks for the new company name, Aceeca, that is something I didn't have before. I found this thread when I did a search on Zire 72 and posted what I had found to work for my devices. I wish the more detailed information had been noted in this post before I posted.
I found this and the other threads while doing other searches for Zire 72 and none of them mentioned the solution you noted. BTW I went through the terms of use and I have been unable to find mentions of multiple copies of the same post so thanks for letting me know about that as well.
I did searches fo Zire 72 and Palm Zire 72 but only found mentions of the desktop versions but nothing like the information you provided. I wonder if there is a mechanism that could tie the various threads to the solutions provided by the experts. For my own edification, when someone finds one of these threads that goes so far then stops, how do we find the solution without knowing the wording of the title like the one you provided? Most of us limit our search to our particular device to keep the results manageable, you know how it gets doing too broad of a search.
Thanks for your assistance and patience
