Palm GPS Navigator With Garmin Mobile XT Software

I recently purchased the above navigator for my husband for Christmas.  How frustrating that the maps don't display!!!  No where on the description of the item that I purchased did it say I'd have to unlock maps, etc.  Where and how do I go about unlocking these maps?  I'm ready to return this item and tell Palm exactly how I feel.

The only 3rd party apps you can install on your iPhone is what is available via the iTunes app store. There are a number of 3rd party GPS navigation apps available for the iPhone with maps used by the application stored locally on the iPhone with the application.

  • Palm GPS Navigator compatibility with WM6

I recently updated my Verizon 700wx to WM6 and can no longer get the Garmin Mobile XT software to see the GPS receiver. The phone will see and pair with the device but I can't seem to get the software to connect with it, apparently I don't have a setting correctly configured. Anyone have any advice on how to correct this issue?
Post relates to: Treo 700wx (Verizon)

In my case, the blue light would come on for a moment when I connected the power supply but it would then turn off, and the Navigator screen on myTreo would say something like "no GPS device detected." Assuming that you are experiencing the same issue, I would guess that getting a new unit will not solve it. I solved the problem as follows:
    1. HotSync your Treo to make sure that all of your data is backed up.
    2. Do a hard reset to erase all the data on your Treo. You can find precise instructions for doing this at palm.com. (This is also a good time to apply any carrier ROM updates that you have not already applied; I applied the latest Verizon update.)
    3. Install the car kit using the SD card that comes with the kit. Make sure the GPS unit is working properly.
    4. HotSync your Treo to restore your data.
    5. If desired, install the Navigator data to your own SD card so that you don't have to switch SD cards every time you use the Navigator.
That should do it. One more thing I've noticed is that I have to disconnect the Navigator kit from the power supply in my car between uses for the GPS unit to work.

  • Palm GPS Navigator

I am having a bit of trouble with my GPS Navigator. I want to connect it to my laptop and use it for directions, but I have no idea how, since I dont have any of the software, since I just got it second-hand from my grandmother. Here is the info I found under the battery
    Model: 180-10242-00
    FCC ID:08F-238BTGPS
    IC: 3905A-238BTGPS
    Bluetooth 1.2 Compliant

I have the same GPS receiver model, and tried it with the Garmin software (Mobile PC).
First, you have to use the configuration software for Bluetooth in your PC to create a Serial port; in my PC, Toshiba Bluetooth stack is installed, and new virtual ports get ID 40 and up.
Then, in the GPS software, configure it to connect to that new serial port (COM40 in my case). If you have valid licenses, it should connect without problems.
Connecting GPS SW directly to bluetooth didn't work, as it seems connection is terminated every time there is no data transfer.

  • E72 - How well does it work with Garmin Mobile XT?

I bought Garmin Mobile XT for my mobile and successfully installed it, but it stops responding after a while, maybe some 5-10 minutes. Has anyone else tried it with the E72?

Ahhh, damn it! Ovi Maps doesn't cover Serbia (yeah, we're heaven forsaken, I know). Good thing I didn't actually buy Garmin and then figured it doesn't work.. I was considering buying it actually. Go figure - the map of Serbia, which is basically a third world country in the middle of Europe, costs exactly as much as the maps covering most of Europe. That just s*cks.
You've got kudos from me for advice, thanks!
Do you happen to know any other GPS software that does work on the E72?

  • BB880 operation with Garmin Sat Nav software

    Hi
I have purchased Garmin firmware to run on my BB8800 which is on the Vodafone network. The Garmin software installed without problems but when I try to operate it the Garmin software wants to connect to a server to download config settings and for me to provide an activation code. The device will not connect and comes up with an error saying network connection unavailable. Otherwise all mail and internet connections are operating without problems.
I spoke to Garmin who say as far as they are concerned the software works on a BB8800 on Vodafone and Vodafone say as it's not their product so they can't help.
Can anyone advise what might be causing the problem?
    thanks

    Hi
Here is a detailed list of the problem which may help to explain better.
I purchased Garmin for Blackberry 8800, operator Vodafone from the Garmin website
I have installed the Garmin software successfully on my BB via the link.
When I select the "Garmin Mobile EU" Icon on the Blackberry to run the Garmin software the following happens
I can see the garmin logo then the message appears "Welcome to Garmin Mobile. Please select continue to retrieve application settings from the server".
    I select "Continue"
I then get a message which says "Network Connection Unavailable. Please try again later. If this problem persists, please contact the service provider. (Code:405-070)
I phoned Vodafone and they would not help me as it's not their product. They suggested that it's something to do with Enterprise activation?? but did advise that my phone is fully enabled.
Other wise all functions are fine, email, web browsing - it's definetly is connected to the network.
I have an activation code, my phones connected to the Vodafone network, by for some strange reason when I selects the Garmin Icon on the BB is believes that it can't connect to the Network.
    Thanks

  • Cannot send mail with mobile mail software

I have been trying to send mail with my mobile mail software on my AOL account and my mail won't got through,  But when I click on my mobile web and access my AOL email that way it allows me to send mail with no problem. The problem started today, I have an lg env3 and the latest software version of the mobile mail.

From working with other customers, the best thing to do would be to remove the email account entirely from the Mobile Email program and re-add it.  If the issue persists, remove the Mobile Email application altogether and redownload it.  If it still persists even after that and all other data services are working such as the browser, My Verizon, etc. call AOL Mobile Support at 866-265-3019.
I hope this helps you.  Let us know if it did.

  • Nokia 5230 and Garmin Mobile XT

    Hi !
I have decided to install Garmin Mobile on my Nokia 5230. I have asked the official Garmin support for informations about Garmin Mobile and Symbiaa S60 v5. They answered that the last version of Garmin Mobile is v5.00.60 and in theory it should almost certain work with S60v5 operating system (the version v5.00.50 should too), but the product is discontinued so they are not 100% sure. They sent me a list where I can still buy Garmin Mobile but I am not sure to spend 100€ because I'm not totaly sure if this will work with Nokia 5230. There's lots of info about Garmin v5.00.40 and v5.00.50 working on Nokia 5800 but no info about Nokia 5230.
Is there any Nokia 5230 user on this forum with Garmin Mobile installed? If yes which version of Garmin Mobile do you have?

  • Palm GPS Bluetooth Problem

Hello, I am trying to pair a Palm GPS unit with my mac. I go through all the steps using the Bluetooth Assistant ending with an apparently successful pairing. However, when i open bluetooth prefs the Palm GPS shows up as 'not connected'. Anyone know what's wrong?

Have you tried a Soft Reset?  Thought about updating the OS on the device to 4.1?  (There were a lot of improvements made with 4.0 vs. 4.1!)   The update is available many places on the net, such as: http://downloads.zdnet.com/abstract.aspx?docid=425429
Any GPS I used to use with my m515 was hard-wired...

  • Garmin Mobile 10 GPS (Bluetooth)

    Hi all,
I'm looking to get a GPS to go with my Palm TX PDA. The Garmin web site recommends the Garmin Mobile 10. It uses bluetooth pairing to communicate between devices. It seems that as of May, Garmin has beta software for the Mac.
I will be getting MBR in October after Leopard comes out. Has anyone used this GPS with their MacBook Pro?
What GPS would you recommend? I'd like the device to work with both a MBP and a Palm TX.
    Thanks,
    Steven

Since no one here has Leopard, nor knows Leopard's finalized driver status, any advice we give you on a future purchase for post-Leopard release would be futile, as drivers can change, and the you are referring to may take more time to get updated, if at all. It is called vaporware. People here can tell you what currently works, but you are putting too great an imposition on anyone who offers you help here, as you have already stated that you are waiting till after Leopard's release and for the machine to include Leopard. Historically Macs can only run the operating system that comes with them, is available at the time that they are released as new, up to operating systems which overtax their hardware. Unless Apple's past behavior as far as operating system compatibility changes the advice may be faulty. If you want to get a currently available MacBook Pro you can check this user tip for various GPS solutions already available for the Mac, and look for those that have Universal compatible drivers:
    http://discussions.apple.com/click.jspa?searchID=-1&messageID=607273
If you want to learn how to make the most of Tiger to be as closed to what features are advertised for Leopard, tell us which features matter to you most, and we can help you find what is currently available.
Terms of Use forbid us from speculating about unreleased products.
Thus that's another imposition you give to the poster. Even though it may work now, that is no guarantee it will work on a future operating system that hasn't been released. Everything that is known about Leopard is on this page:

  • Compatibility with Garmin gps

FYI Some of the Garmin gps software is not compatible with Leopard. Their webpage says Mac compatible. Maybe pre Leopard, not Leopard. Had to do a firmware update on my wife's PC.

The only 3rd party apps you can install on your iPhone is what is available via the iTunes app store. There are a number of 3rd party GPS navigation apps available for the iPhone with maps used by the application stored locally on the iPhone with the application.

  • GPS Inaccuracy With Mobile Network Enabled

I have a BB AT&T Passport.  The GPS location with Mobile Network enabled is .25 - .5 mi off.  If I disable Mobile Network and just use WiFi then my GPS Location is within 50 - 100 ft.  Why is there such a disparity location with AT&T LTE?  I have the latest software update from AT&T.  Can we get this problem fixed AT&T?

  • SMS doesn't work with T-Mobile CZ and Palm Pre

    Hi, there is my problem:
I bought Palm Pre from Germany. Everything works fine, but there is problem with sending messages. I tried to ask in Czech forums, PreCentral or my Carrier and no answer solved this problem. So I'm asking the core of the problem, Palm Developers.
There are some guides to get or change some carrier settings, but without any documentations. I see in \usr\lib\luna\CarrierNetworkSettings.db3 and /var/luna/data/CarrierNetworkSettings.db3 for my carrier this row:
And IMHO the highlighted box should be in column smscNumber. I tried this to change, but nothing get worked.
I tried this phone with my friends SIM cards by Vodafone CZ and O2 CZ and everything worked alright. The problem is only wit combination with T-Mobile.
I also downloaded new ROM from palm.com/ROM and there are same values.
And to my carrier: There is not much info about setting up phones settings, but the highlighted number should be ok.
And of course the error message. There are screen shots:
So guys, what do you think about it? Where is the problem? How to solve it? Can someone help? Is there any other DB from where phone reads settings?
    This question was solved.
    View Solution.

Hello and thank you for using the Palm Help Forums!
Currently, we do not have T-Mobile listed as a compatible carrier for our webOS devices. I will still provide tips in resolving this issue but I just wanted to make you aware of this.
-Make sure the device is on the latest update. You may retrieve this data under the "Device Info" application. The most current update is webOS1.4.1.1.
-Make sure you have network connection.
-If the message extends past 70 characters you may have this issue. Also, if it includes misc. characters as well.
    -Try restarting the device.
If the problem persists, we recommend contacting the wireless service provider for further assistance.
I'm sorry if this isn't much help but I hope you find resolution.
    -Patkosanke

hey tom,i think you could download the free map from NOKIA, and then the the GPS will works good, or the other way, you could download the Route66 Nav software for N95, it's good and i think it will be the best choice!
