Palm Lifedrive wont sync. PC doesn't recognize USB

Hi,
I'm having a problem hotsyncing my lifedrive. It's worked fine up until now, but all of a sudden, it won't connect. The PC isn't recognizing that I've plugged the cradle in through my USB ports. I've tried this on 2 computers now and still no luck. The metal connectors look clean and dirt free, so I'm at a loss as to what the problem might be.
Thanks in advance for the help,
TristanD
Post relates to: LifeDrive

I've tried the hotsync guides and still nothing. However, I decided to try to set up a wireless sync, and it worked like a charm. Since my cradle is still not syncing, I'm leaning towards a physical problem with the connections. Should I talk to Palm to try to get it replaced?

Do you have windows mobile device center installed(WMDC)? If not download it from here http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile/en-us/downloads/microsoft/device-center-download.mspx
Be sure you download the correct version for your PC. If you have 32bit OS or 64bit OS. To find this out, right click on Computer under start and select properties. Near the middle it should say 32bit or 64bit. If you know you have the correct software. Open up the control panel and go to sync settings. Right click on the partnership you have setup and select delete. On your device go to Start-->Programs-->Activesync-->Menu-->Options tap on Windows PC and select Delete. Then once both are done resetup your partnership. But this time uncheck everything. Then once it is done syncing. Go to Mobile device settings and change content sync settings and select Contact. Click save and let it sync. Do the same for calendar, tasks, and notes but leave the last item checked. So when Contacts are done syncing you go and check Calendar and leave Contacts

  • Mac Pro doesn't recognize USB 3.0 PCI express card

Mac Pro doesn't recognize USB 3.0 PCI express card.  Does it need specific drivers?

I did a little searching for that card.  The more I looked at it the more I felt that, yes, it needs a driver, and no, one doesn't exist for the Mac.  So it looks like that is a card only supported for PC's. But to be sure, if I were in your place at this point, I would contact MSI directly.

  • After updating to iTunes 10.5, iTunes freezes while syncing and doesn't recognize a cd in the cd drive

I have a 160gb iPod Classic that is about 3 years old.  I just added new music to iTunes 2 days ago and synced my iPod.  Today, when I opened iTunes, it asked for the update to 10.5.  I allowed the update, added some more music to my library and synced iTunes with my iPod again.  When the sync was done and I ejected my iPod, it appeared that all of my music, videos, podcasts and photos were erased from iPod.  When I try to sync it again, iTunes freezes about 10 miniutes into syncing and then only about 300 songs appear on the iPod.  I tried to restore the iPod which has led to more difficulties.  Also, I noticed when I attempted to add music to my music library, iTunes no longer recognizes that there is a disc in the CD drive.  I am running Windows 7, 64 bit and there seems to be alot of problems in the community after the iTunes 10.5 update.  I have also been getting unknown error messages followed by the codes (-48), (-50), (-120), and (-53).  Does anyone have any answers??? Help Please.... I have a library of 13,144 songs and I want them back on my iPod.

Since updating to iTunes 10.5 I am unable to view the iTunes Store - using Windows XP; Have the minimum system requirements changed for 10.5? What has changed? The Sync in 10.5 also seems to be slower than previously. What exactly does 10.5 deliver, to Users?
To make matters worse, in iPhone OS.5 it is not possible to purchase a Series (for instance) unless there is sufficient space to download direct to the Phone; Previously you could confirm the purchase on your iPhone and then use iTunes 'Check for Available Downloads' to download. This was the only available work-around to a dysfunctional online Store. Nice one Apple - you have successfully prevented me from making purchases (of any size) from your store; Why was this change necessary and how is it desirable?
NB: it should not be necessary (nor is it desirable) to uninstall anti-virus software to acommodate iTunes; although you may need to modify its configuration (confirming the Store connection is 'safe') during or after install

  • Palm Zire wont Sync with Address Book or iCal

I just got my Dad to switch from his PC to a MacBook and we can't get his Palm Zire 31 to syncronize with Address Book or iCal.
    Tiger 10.4.8
    HotSync 3.2
    iSync 2.3
I went thru the setup articles and compared the settings to the ones on my Powermac and I don't see any differences. The HotSync log gives iSync Conduit errors: Could not create database Address DB, NULL from rendezvous.
    This is not impressing him.

    Well,
I think we have this handled. After losing all of his data and using an old back up file, we are getting somewhere. I did a hard-reset and then synced it. I have his Palm and MacBook communicating. Now, to get that dumb device to play mp3's like it was supposed to.

  • Palm centro wont sync epocrates

    Hello,
I am having two problems with my palm centro
    1. I am trying to download epocrates, via a mac, to my palm centro. The icon shows up but when selected the program is empty. The hotsync message says there is an error in downloading. The centro says it is unable to complete, the installer is missing
    2. I want to edit the categories on my contacts. Everytime I try to edit I can get into the edit screen, type in the edit, but the centro re-boots when I hit OK, not saving the edit.

    Did these keys ever work?
Have you installed anything lately that corresponds with the timing of the errors?
Since the device is still covered under warranty, I'd take it back to whomever you purchased it through, either Sprint or Palm.
Note:  Both of them might ask you to Hard Reset the phone to determine whether the problem is caused by software.  Have you tried this yet?

  • Airport Extreme doesn't recognize USB Drive

I have a USB external drive that is working fine when attached to my iMac but my airport extreme doesn't see it at all. I have tried resetting the power to both devices.
    AEBS version 7.2.1
Does the drive have to be formated a certain way for it to work? Right now it is "Mac OS Extended" I have also had it formatted as OS Extended (Journaled). Neither are working.

  • Airport extreme doesn´t recognize usb hard disk

After one year of no problems using it, suddenly, the airport utility doesn´t find my usb hard disk connected to an Airport Extreme base station. There is a firmware upgrade to 7.7.1 for this same but unfrequent and rare issue (Apple´s words), though it is only forseen for the new base stations AirPort Extreme 802.11ac and mine is 802.11n.
Has anyone experienced this problem, any solution?
    Thanks in advance.

I just called Apple Care and I'm astonished by the answers that the operator gave me :
    - he couldn't confirm if Airport Extreme could handle 4 TB disk drive or not. More : he said he cannot obtain this information.
    - he advised me to plug on my Aiport Extreme a 4 TB drive borrowed to a friend, or buy a new 4 TB drive in a shop with a 4 days refund policy (to return the drive after the test).
I was very unsatisfied by these answers, arguing to my operator that for me HE is Apple and I expected him to have informations about the specs of Apple products. In the end he advised me to go in a Genius bar with my hard disk. So I asked him a ticket number to give to the Genius bar. He said there was not.
I'm very frustrated by the very low level of information of this call :
    - Apple Care didn't confirmed an information that looks correct according to newsgroups or a technical support reseller,
    - Apple Care couldn't confirmed the problem was handled by a developpement team at Apple, neither when it could be published.
Another point about Apple Care : when I called Apple Care Yesterday, they said they couldn't handle my request because I haven't the serial number of the Airport Extreme. I said I wanted to confirm the incompatibility for ALL the Airport Extreme, but they argued they must give me a correct answer for my case, especially. Today, after giving the serial number, they said they couldn't answer.
The Apple technical specification of Airport Extreme don't show any limitation in the size of the drive :
    http://support.apple.com/kb/SP628?viewlocale=en_US
The MacWay reseller technical support confirmed me that no Aiport station they sell are supporting today 4 TB drives.

  • Windows 7 doesn't recognize usb 6221

    Hi,
I had an application (plus the entire package with Runtime and DAQmx) in Labview which is deployed on several PC. Until now it worked just fine on PCs with WinXP.
Now I have to install the same application on a PC with Win7. The problem is the LabView cannot recognize the USB6221 board.
In Windows Device Manager the board is there, but LabView sees nothing. Also, if I check in Measurement and Automation I cannot see the board there. I installed and reinstalled the entire software but no results.
Does anzbody had the same experience or could anybody give me some hints??
    Thanks,
    Paul

    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Dear Pauline,
There are some factors you need to
consider while porting to windows 7 platform. As far as i know, only
labview 2009 software is fully compatiable with windows 7.
    Meaning
to dispatch to windows 7, you will need the following.
    i)
    Labview runtime engine (Labview 2009)
    ii) Any drivers
(DAQ, DAQmx ) compatiable with windows 7.
    iii) exe created
    by labview 2009.
Last time, i also face similar problems. I build
the exe in windows Xp platform (Labview 8.6) and i can dispatch to
windows Xp and Vista platform. However when i port the exe to windows 7
platform, i also cant get it to work well after many tries.
    Finally,
i just upgrade to Labview 2009 and compile the exe under windows 7
platform. Dispatch this exe together with the lastest drivers (windows 7
drivers) and my exe works well for all platforms (XP, Vista and windows
    7) now.
This may be something you like to try out.

  • Trying to dual boot Windows 7, Mac Pro 3 (2008) doesn't recognize USB boot drive

My system has no optical drive either.  I've managed to set up the boot drive in VMWare fusion, and I've confirmed that the boot drive is correctly formatted, because it shows up on my MBP.  I've tried blessing this hard drive, I've tried boot camping my way in, but the Mac Pro 2008 model seems adamant about only going via disk.  Any super user commands to get my usb thumb drive recognized at option-restart time?

UPDATE:  Last night, I installed Windows 7 next to Yosemite on my MBP.  Copied the Windows partion to my external, and then tried to copy that partition on the external to my MP.  No success, probably because MBP and MP have different drivers?
You will need to use Winclone to move images from one Mac to a different Mac if there are any hardware differences. It is a commercial tool.
    Please see https://twocanoes.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/202814148-Migrating-a-Boot-Camp- Partition-with-Winclone-4
It requires a Sysprep on the source first to remove any HW-specific parts and make it a proper image to move it to a different HW platform. Once you have this migrated, you will need to reactivate Windows and install the appropriate Windows drivers which will support your MP-specific HW.

  • Computer doesn't recognize USB-Raw device

I have followed EXACTLY the same procedure for setting up a USB Raw device for VISA control as described on the NI support website. I am using VISA v3.2. But when I plug in my USB device, the driver that it associates to the device is the USB HID driver which is not what I want. I have been able to setup the same device on other identical computers (OS, VISA version, etc. was the same) without issue. I have tried multiple times going through the process after removing all USB HID drivers but have not had any success. Any ideas?

    Hi ee_engineer,
Just to make sure we're on the same page, are you using the procedure detailed in the following link?
Knowledge Base 325APJ2Y: How Can I Communicate With a Device Using NI-VISA USB RAW Mode?
It sounds like you are experienced with this procedure, so I am not sure without more information the reason that the process is not working in this case. A few recommendations I have are to ensure that you are using the correct VID and PID in the Device Driver Development Wizard, and that it is being saved in the correct place (the Windows INF file). Once this is accomplished, the device should then be detected as a new hardware with NI-VISA as the driver. If you have any further specific questions regarding this, please post them and we will continue troubleshooting this.

  • USB 3.0 doesn't recognize usb 3.0 external hard disk

Hi, I have a 500 GB WD 3.0 USB External hard disk (Elements 1042) It works fine on my two USB 2.0 ports but when I connect it to my USB 3.0 port it's not even recognized, however the USB 3.0 port works with all the others HD I have, what should I do?

    Good Morning
The first thing that comes to mind is that there are no USB 3 host controller drivers installed on your operating System. Are the other hard drives that work in the Port USB 3 or USB 2. If they are USB 2 then I would go onto the Support page for your machine and look for USB 3 drivers and try them

When I insert 16gb USB as requested and click OK, the same pop up comes up and the Creator shows Canceled??I close the window and try to start again with the same results?  I am not computer savy and am about ready to return this one.

Hi Dokie: Thank  you for the extended details re. So... PNY 16 GIG WORKS WITH WINDOWS 7 PRO RECOVER MEDIA CREATOR ON THE TOSHIBA S55-A5326 !!! Had the computer for two days liking it every second; figured I'd back up the original operating system for insurance before I started loading in a lot of programs and before receiving MS updates -- Even set a MS system recovery back-up date for the  the first day I had it. Thank you also for the Macrium Reflect reference (professional guitarist I am ignorant of too much of the computer technology though I do do digital recording; I do prefer having an additional back-up on an external hard drive. Looks like that program is the way to go. I went to the site but had a bit of difficulty about which of the freeware choices would work -- so I did not download anything for fear of doing the wrong thing (I noticed some of the programs "scanned and repaired" rather than just create OS images.  I'm all for purchasing a good product if it's the right one as add'l insurance. Once again, Dokie thanks again for your time, efforts, concern, conscientiousness, and expertise. Sincerely,Allears.

  • Airport Extreme doesn't recognize USB disk

I have a USB external hard drive that I've used for a number of years plugged directly into my Mac mini.  I'm trying to move it to the Airport Extreme as a shared hard drive, but the device is not recognizing it.  It won't show up in my Finder sidebar, nor will it appear in Airport Utility in the list of disks.
For contrast, I've got another drive that shows up fine whenever I plug it in.
    Things I've tried:
    - A USB hub plugged into the Airport Extreme.  If I plug both disks into the hub, the second one works just fine, while the first still won't appear in the Finder, and in Airport Utility it is displayed as a "0MB" capacity drive with no volumes.  If I don't plug in the second disk, I don't think the first disk shows up at all.
    - Different USB cable.  Same result.
    - Reformat the drive (via Disk Utility, as "Mac OS Extended (Journaled)").  Same result.
    - Rollback the firmware.  Currently at 7.6.  I tried 7.5.2 and 7.4.1.  Same result.
    Any ideas?

Some older drives just won't work at a network USB location....probably a firmware limitation on the drive electronics.
Check to see if the firmware on the hard drive can be updated.
If you have checked your powered USB hub to verify that all ports are functional, and checked USB cables, I think you have to conclude that you....like me in the past....have found a drive just won't work where you want it to.
