Palm M 515 Hotsync

I have been using Windows XP with my Palm. I switched to different computer using Windows Vista. I downloaded 6.2 from Palm website, performed Hotsync and got message that the Hotsync was completed. When I bring Palm up on my screen I see no data at all from the handheld. Can anyone offer a suggestion or solution?

At the top of every section of this forum are a set of posts with dark backgrounds.  These are called "sticky" posts due to the fact they "stick" to the top of the list of posts, and don't move.
The reason is because they concern questions that get asked over, and over, and over again!
If you scan the titles of these posts, you will find several that concern syncing older devices with Vista and Vista64.

  • Can't find palm tungsten isync hotsync conduit in leopard

Attempting to sync my Palm Tungsten E2 with iCal & Address Book by USB but iSync can't set up when I attempt to Enable Palm Syncing. iSync Hotsync Conduit does not install and is not found on searching with Spotlight. Palm Hotsync works fine. Where is my software not configured properly?

Problem solved. I was logged into a User Account that did not have permissions to move the conduits to a new folder 'iSync Disabled Conduits'. Logging into the System Manager Account enabled this process to proceed and reverting back to the sub-account the configuring for Enable Palm Syncing process now completed.

  • Palm won't hotsync anymore. Please help!

My palm won't hotsync with my computer anymore. I have re-loaded a couple of times, but still nothing. When I try, the computer makes 3 sharp beeps, but no hotsync, and eventually the palm device gives me the message " The connection between your device and the desktop could not be established. Please check your setup and try again."
    Post relates to: Tungsten E2

I am far from an expert on this , but I had the same problem with my Palm TX.  I have found a temporary solution.
If your hot sync icon has disappeared from yoyr tray in lower right hand corner of computer screen AND
when you open Palm Desktop and go to Hotsync...the options (custom, view log, etc) are greyed out and not selectable)..When the hotsync icon from the tray disappears (you can no longer hotsync by pressing button or through the desktop software).  Try the following temporary fix.
Create a HotSync icon on your desktop.  To re-activate the HotSync tray icon, just double click on the hotsync desktop icon and the hotsync tray icon will re-appear, as well as the greyed-outicons under the Palm desktop hotsync option will become active once again.  You should now be able to hotsync.  However, the problem keeps re-occuring, and needs fixing often, which is why I leave the HotSync icon on my desktop to make life simple.  I do not know of a permanent fix.

  • Palm M 515 / Desktop 4.1.4 / Calendar week

    Hello,
    I have Destop 4.1.4 installed.
And I see in the calendar week view in the week  28.12.2008 to 04.01.2009 the week number "0" and in the followiing week the number "1" and so on.
I think thats wrong because in the calendars the week  from 28.12.2008 to 04.01.2009 has the week number "1".
The m 515 shows me the right week number.
So it seems to be a problem with the software of the desktop.
Is there anywhere an new version?

Do a sync with the conduits set to handheld overwrites desktop in hotsync manager. See if that will update the calendar in Palm Desktop.

What version of Vista?  32bit or 64bit?  If 64bit, as mentioned in the thread I referred you to, USB sync is not possible.
Are you trying to sync via Wifi or USB cable?  Do you have a HotSync account name for the data on the computer?
When you did a Hard Reset, did you choose the HotSync account name you created on Palm Desktop?
The numbers you are referring to do not have any relation.  One is a version of Palm software on the device, the other is the version of the HotSync Manager software included with Palm Desktop 6.2.2.
The firmware on the TX does not need to be upgraded.  The problem lies elsewhere.

  • OSX10.4.9/iSync 2.4 with Palm E2 running HotSync 3.2.1

    Hi All,
    iSync happily syncs between my Powerbook and phone;
HotSync happily syncs between Powerbook and my Palm...
but I can't get iSync to install the iSync Conduit in HotSync Manager enabling the Palm to download to iCal etc.
I've run 'Enable Palm OS Syncing' from within iSync a number of times. It seems to function OK (moves appropriate conduits within Library>Palm HotSync to a new folder called iSync Disabled Conduits for instance), but when I launch HotSync>Conduit Settings, the expected iSync HotSync Conduit isn't there! Back in Library>Palm HotSync>Conduits, there is newly installed file called Apple though it doesn't appear anywhere in HotSync Manager.
Also, the Palm E2 doesn't appear in iSync when I 'add device>scan' - I believe this is normal and it won't appear until the iSync HotSync Conduit finally appears in HotSync - is this correct?
I have previously had no problems with older iterations of iSync although I haven't used iSync1.? for a year or more - could something be left over that should have been deleted? I have done clean installs of OSX10.4.9 and the Palm OS 4.2.1 fairly recently.

    Welcome to Apple Discussions.
There is some confusion regarding this, largely the fault of Apple. There are three names for the iSync Palm Conduit:
    • iSync Palm Conduit [the name that most documentation refers to]
    • iSync Conduit [the name which it appears as in the HotSync Manager]
    • Apple [name of the conduit as shown in the Finder]
If the file Apple resides in your active Conduits folder but does not appear when you attempt to configure conduits using the HotSync Manager or the HotSync menu item in the Palm Desktop, it's likely a damaged file. It should appear in those dialogs as the iSync Conduit.
If you cannot get it to appear, send a message to the electronic mail address listen in my Public Profile and I will reply with a copy you can use in its place.
The iSync Add Device… option is not applicable to Palm devices. You can only get it to appear by using the Enable Palm OS Syncing… option that you've been attempting to do.

  • Palm Centro Unwanted Hotsync Help!!

Okay I have the Palm Centro from AT&T and I got this message from the phone saying it was connecting to HotSync and I don't want it to and it keeps popping up anyways! Please help me figure out how to make it stop trying to connect.
BTW I'm 13 and I don't know what to do so please put it easier for me to do this. And my parents aren't home so I can't ask them.
    Post relates to: Centro (AT&T)

Hello and welcome to the Palm forums!
You can click on "cancel" to stop the hot sync or remove the battery from your centro and stick it right back in. This should stop the hot sync.
PS It is not a good idea to post personal information on a public forum. You can click on the top right of your post and edit it. I would suggest that you remove your age from the post and the fact that your parents are not home. It is not safe to inform the public about that! You can just write that you need help with this issue and you would like a response asap.

  • Palm wont stop hotsyncing!!1 Help

Help!!!  My Centro is going crazy!!!
all of a sudden the hotsync app pops up on its own. I"ve done the hot reset twice so far and the HOTSYNC continues to pop up!!!  i can't make calls or do anything else for that matter. the hotsync app interrupts everything. and to make it worse it doesn't actually sync. it reads
"The connection between your handheld computer and the desktop could not be established. Please check your set up and try again."
I hit ok and it tries to hotsync again but fails again.
It also continously makes a clicking sound.. I'm not pressing a button and none of the buttons are stuck... what's going on?
    Post relates to: Centro (AT&T)

Hello nhiavang and welcome to the Palm forums.
It sounds like you are stuck in a HotSync loop.  To break out of the loop, you will need to perform a hard reset.  You can read about performing a hard reset here.
Since the hard reset will erase your device, you should perform a HotSync with your computer, as odd as that sounds, just before you perform the hard reset to ensure that your third-party applications and data are backed up so they can be quickly restored.
After the hard reset is complete, and you have gone through the welcome application, perform a HotSync to restore your data and third-party applications.  If prompted, select your old HotSync ID, don't create a new one.
Typically, this issue occurs when the HotSync port contacts at the bottom of the phone get wet or moisture builds up on the metal contacts.

  • Palm resets during Hotsync of Package Installer

Today, my Treo 755p started resetting during Hotsync, specifically the "Package Installer" step. If I uncheck Package Installer, Hotsync works fine. I'm using version 6.2.2 of the Palm Desktop with Vista. On my computer, the Package and Install folders are both empty. I did install some files a couple days ago, but sucessfully hotsynched after the installation.
I also tried to sync on another computer that I hotsync to only occassionally, and the same thing happened, suggesting the problem is on the Treo itself. I was hoping I could resolve this problem without a hard reset, as it seems my Treo isn't quite 100% as before the reset.
    Any suggestions?
Post relates to: Treo 755p (Verizon)

Try a 10 second soft reset by taking out the battery for at least 10 seconds. This allows the device to power off completely, like a shutdown on a PC.
If that doesn't work, try renaming the backup folder on the PC in your username folder to backup.old. After the rename, sync the Treo and esee if you get the same error. If you do, you will need to hard reset the Treo.

  • Hotsync palm tx- won't sync at all

I'm trying to sync my Palm Tx and when i push the button on the USB cord, it initiates the sync, but then it almost looks like it's 're-powering' and take me to the time setting. It won't sync at all. Can anyone help me?
    Post relates to: Palm TX

If it's taking you to the "time setting", it's doing a "Reset" by itself.  This is not a good thing, as you've figured out already.
As with most problems that occur on a Palm PDA, it is either software or hardware related and we have to determine which one.
Best method is to first make a complete backup of your unit to your SD card using the free "NVBackup" (available from http://www.freewarepalm.com) After the backup is complete, Hard Reset the unit, then test to see if full functionality returns.  (Since you can't HotSync, this will only apply to you if you have the program installed already!)
    To perform a Hard Reset:
While pressing and holding the Power button down, tap and release the Reset button in back and continue to hold the Power button down. When the grey Palm logo appears, you can release the Power button.
You should now see the warning page in about 5 languages. Press the UP direction on the 5-way pad to complete the task. Your Palm will reset itself several times as it re-installs the original programs and erases all your previous data.
DO NOT HOTSYNC YET! Test the unit before reinstalling any software. If the unit works correctly, your problem is being caused by a "drug interaction" of software - maybe one rogue program, or a combination of several. You'll have to reinstall the third-party programs one or a few at a time to find the problem one. To avoid re-installing a software issue, rename your /Backup directory in your Palm folder (on a PC it's found here: C/Program Files/Palm(One)/"your HotSync ID name truncated"/Backup) to something like "/BackupOLD". Now perform the HotSync, choose your HotSync name you've been using, and all your PIM data will return, but not the third-party programs. Test for functionality again. If all is good, start installing the old programs from your /BackupOLD directory one (or a few if brave) at a time.
If the unit does not work after a Hard Reset is performed correctly, then it may be Hardware-related. (If it's a connection problem via either BlueTooth or Wifi, be sure nothing has changed on the unit you're trying to connect to!)
    Hope this has helped,
    Wyrenut

  • Palm TX won't connect to computer via WiFi for Hotsync

I've tried the network Hotsync on all my computers, XP, Vista 32 and Vista 64 (which started the whole attempt) and the device fails to connect to the computer, even when I put in the IP address.
My wireless network sees the Palm and I am able to access the Internet through it, but it won't connect to my computers. Any suggestions?

Here's my Wifi Hotsync help file:
    Wifi HotSync with a TX
    1. On your PC, locate the HotSync Manager (little HotSync icon in the lower right tool tray on a Winbox). Click on it and check off "Network", then click again and select Setup.
    2. Pick the Network tab up top in the window that opens, and find your HotSync name in the list. Make sure it's checked.
    3. Tap the TCP/IP button, and look at the IP address listed for "Primary PC Address". Write it down.
    4. Turn on Wifi on your Palm and connect to your router.
    5. On your Palm, select the HotSync program and tap the word "Network" above the HotSync icon in the middle of the screen. Below it, enter the IP address you wrote down in step 3. (Include the periods!).
    6. Tap the big HotSync icon above the IP address, and hold on!
    7. If you're holding on, and nothing happens try a wired HotSync, then try the Wifi HotSync again. Sometimes, information has to transfer from your PC after you check off the Network option. Also, be sure to watch for any Firewall activity asking you about "HotSync.exe is trying to access your hard drive" etc. You may need to set a rule to allow it.
On your TX, check these settings from the pull-down menu in Hotsync:
    Modem Sync: Network
    LanSync: :LANSync
Network Setup: (Wifi should be listed as one of the networks)

  • How to set my hotsync username in my palm tungsten t3

    Hello,
I try to put my hotsync username in the palm desktop in the computer and the hotssync is done
but  when i try to put the key of a software, the software run only in demo
when i give the error code to the owner off the software, he reply that i don't set a htsyncusername in the palm.
yes in the screen of the hotsync in my palm i did not see my username.
how to fix that please help.

    This question was solved.
    View Solution.

Are you sync'ing the new device to the same username in Palm Desktop as an older device?
If you are, this will cause problems on the new device. When you sync the device, it saves the device settings, 3rd party apps, preferences, etc. in the backup folder in the username folder on the PC. When you sync the new device it copies the contents of the backup folder for the old device to the new device. This will cause corruption in the settings for the new device thus causing erratic behavior of the new device.
    Looks like you may need to hard reset your device and rename your backup folder. Go to http://www.palm.com/cgi-bin/cso_kbURL.cgi?ID=887 and follow the directions to do a hard reset. Next before you hotsync your data back over you will need to rename your backup folder, to do that go here;
    XP
C:\program files\palm or palm one\[hotsync username]\ and rename your backup
    folder to backup.old
    Vista
Start-->documents\Palm OS Desktop\[hotsync username]\ and rename your backup
    folder to backup.old
Then hotsync to your current hotsync name and all your contacts, calendar,
tasks, and memos will come back over.
Show file extensions for XP or Vista
    XP
If you can not view file extensions on your PC I would like you to open a
folder go to Tools-->Folder Options--> View (tab) and under show hidden
files and folders uncheck hide file extensions for known file types.
    Vista
Open control Panel go to Folder Options--> View (tab) and under show hidden
files and folders uncheck hide file extensions for known file types.
