Palm m515 220-volt by mistake Any Hope?

I was in The Netherlands and plugged my Palm m515 cradle (with the Palm in it) into the wall outlet using an adapter that did not convert the current. The light on my Palm went on like it was being charged then went off. The Palm worked for a bit, then said low battery, then went dead. The charging light does not illuminate when the Palm is in the cradle. I also tried a different charger, also with no response.
Is there any hope for the Palm, or is it dead and gone.
Thanks.

(This thread was kinda old in the first place, but who cares?) If it won't charge or anything, then either your battery or charging circuit is fried. If you don't want to upgrade, then try getting a new battery installed and see if it works after that. If it doesn't, then the charging circuitry is fried and the device is now bricked.
A good repair place is http://www.usedpdaparts.com . They should have the battery you need, and if you send it in to them for $15, they can diagnose the problem. If it's the battery, then they only charge you $15 + the battery. If the charging circuit is dead, you can either tell them to send it back and you're only out $15, or you can have them replace the motherboard (If the charging circuitry is on the mobo, anyway), which can get quite expensive.

  • Just bought Apple TV in Atlanta Georgia, did not ask if I won't have an issue plugging it to 220 Volts Power Supply. Can any body advise please .

    Dear all,
I just bought an Apple TV in Atlanta, Georgia, I could not know if it can be plugged to a 220 Volts Power Supply in my Home Country. Please advise
    Cheers

You can read the AppleTV's specifications here, but every current production Apple product incorporates switching power supplies designed for use with any utility power. They are designed to international standards and are not limited to the US or anywhere else.
You can use any power cord that fits. The AppleTV uses a commonly available "figure 8" (IEC 60320) connector.

  • Any recommends for a mains charger for a Palm M515?

I'd like to be able to use a simple mains charger for my Palm M515 when I travel (not a car charger). I see that Amazon have one http://www.amazon.co.uk/Mains-Travel-Charger-Power-Supply/dp/B002UO5C9I/ref=sr_1_fkmr1_1?ie=UTF8&qid...
but I'm a bit concerned that it could fry my Palm. Can anyone recommend a (UK) mains charger which they've tried?

I could not access that link but here is a link to an international charger for sale on directfix.com.
    http://www.directfix.com/mm5/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=GHT&Product_Code=CL-903&Category_Co...
What you need to look for is that the charger is an "international" model. With that model, you can use the different interchangeable plugs that are supplied for each country that requires a different plug and voltage.

  • Sync ical with palm m515

    Hello,
I am trying to get my palm m515 to work with my new imac os x. I have down loaded Palm Desktop for mac but when I tried to open it I was prompted to convert the file. Any ideas on how to get this to work?
    FYI-I have windows.

yes, it is possible. do look at the following links:
    http://www.busymac.com
    http://www.spanningsync.com
i use spanning sync with two macs and sync via a google calendar account. you could sync the mac with google calendar - you would have to open an account, but it is free - and then give access to these google calendars to your husband who would in turn sync them to his pc, i assume he is running outlook on his pc. i did a quick internet search and found this link but i am sure there are others for google calendar/outlook syncing: http://oggsync.com/
    hope this helps
by the way, love denmark! i used to live in humlebaek for 5 years a long time ago.

  • I am traveling to Italy. Do I need an adaptor to use the 220 volt power?

I am traveling to Italy. Do I need an adaptor to use the 220 volt power?

All you need is a plug adapter to have your power block fit Italy's outlets. You can get these at any major store, look in the luggage area.
You do not need a voltage converter, the iPad's power block can handle world wide power.

  • Can you macbook pro with a 220 volt power adapter

Can you macbook pro with a 220 volt power adapter

The power supply for the MBP will run with any voltage between 110 and 240 so there is no need for a voltage power adapter.

  • Synchornization of Palm M515 & to Outlook 2000 suddenly stopped operating...........

I have a Palm M515 which I  synchornize daily to Outlook 2000 using HotSync Manager 4.1.0. I have been using this set-up for years, and it suddenly stopped operating. I get the following error message on the screen of my Palm:  "The connection between your handheld computer and the desktop could not be established. Please check your set-up and try again." I have tried all the fixes recommended by Palm for troubleshooting synchronization with no success. Are there any ideas?

Plug in your device and don't perform a Hotsync. Then right click "My Computer" (on your PC) and go to "Properties". Click on the Hardware tab and click Device Manager. Once in there you should see the Palm device under Universal Serial Bus Controllers or Network adaptors. Once you locate the device, right click it and click uninstall. As soon as you click Uninstall, unplug the device from your computer. Allow the driver to completely uninstall then plug your device back into your computer and try a hotsync operation.
This process is called reloading the drivers. Let me know if it works for you.

  • Register Palm m515

    Hi
I have had my Palm m515 for quite a few years it was given to me as a present so I do not have the receipt.
I am unable to register this device because I cannot read the registration number by the bar code on the back of the device as it is blurred.
Is there another way of doing this.

Hello kenmay52 and welcome to the Palm forums.
On your Palm, tap the House icon to bring you to the application launcher if it is not already displayed.  Then, tap the Menu icon.  Tap Info from the App menu.  This will bring up the Info screen.  Tap on the Version tab along the bottom of the screen.  When you do, you will see the version of Palm OS that is installed on your device (probably Palm OS 4.0) and the device's serial number.
    Hope that helps,

when I converted from my sony clie to the palm m515, apllications from the clie where copied to the m515.  these applications will not work.  How do I delete them?  I have tried using the install tool, but it does not show me any applications as being installed.  can the applications be deleted from the handheld instead of from the desktop?  If not, how do I get the desktop to recognize the application list?

Go to Start -> My Computer -> (C drive -> Program Files -> Palm -> Look for your username profile ->  Look for a folder called Backup and rename  it to  Backup.old.
So if the application do not function on the device just delete them and next time you hotsync those application will not be transferred.

Hello harunh and welcome to the Palm forums.
For the 32-bit edition of Windows XP Home or Pro, with any Windows XP service pack (SP) applied, you will need to use Palm Desktop 4.1.4 with the m505.  Palm Desktop 6.22 is intended to be used with Palm OS 5 devices, like the Palm TX, and Windows Vista.

  • Palm m515 and Windows 7 (64 bit) - Help!

From reading previous posts I get that there are no drivers for Windows 7, especially the 64 bit kind and we can't sync through USB.
I also couldn't find a way to upload the backup data from the old palm pc software to the new one, even by importing files saved on the program folder or a memory stick. I simply can't get my stuff from my Palm or the old computer into the new desktop.
Is there anything being done about this (will there be drivers soon?) or has someone found a solution for this yet?
I'm going quietly insane...  please tell me good news.

    Hi,
Yeah I was wondering about the drivers myself. In any case, I haven't bought the USB to IR adapter yet, so I can't tell you yet if that worked, but I can promise you that uninstalling and reinstalling won't solve the issue. It will just frustrate you.
My temporary solution (while I buy the dongle) was this:
I uninstalled the latest version of Palm desktop software I had found online (6.2) and installed the same version I used to have in my old laptop (4.1.4).
In the old laptop, I clicked on calendar, export, and saved it in a USB. Same with my to-do list, the memos, the address book, etc. made export files and sent them to a USB. Then imported them on the new laptop.
Now I have all the information, past and present in my new laptop. As soon as I get the adapter and try it out, I'll update this post to let you know if it worked, but at least I can now access all the data on my desktop (even if I cant sync yet).

  • Synchronisation of Palm M515

Yes it's an old device the Palm M515, and I have two - one never used (it recovered some time after drying out having been dropped in the washing up, by which time I'd bought a new one)!
The first is now looking likely to fail soon, so I have synchronised it with Palm Desktop and hoped to download the diary, address and all other entries to the unused one. It's only 8 years old and in tiptop condition. However since both have different user names, they will only synchronise with their own device information. I've tried to give them the same name, and the system won't accept that.
I can't find any information on how to download information from one device to another on any of the synchronisation information.

  • HT4341 Using Apple's world Travel Kit, do I need a devise that transforms 220 volts to 120 volts?

If I use the Apple world trael adapter kit for Europe, do I need anything that changes 220 volts to 120 volts?

    Hey Babis Babinis,
Thanks for the question. Nope! As long as you are using the power adapter that accompanied your MacBook when purchased, you are good to go. Apple’s power adapters support line voltages from 100 to 240 V. In example, see page 3 of the manual for our latest line of MacBooks:
    http://manuals.info.apple.com/MANUALS/1000/MA1665/en_US/macbook_pro-retina-late- 2013_ipig.pdf
Additionally, this resource you came from provides some helpful information:
Because the devices listed above have auto-sensing and auto-switching power supplies, all you need to do is attach the correct AC plug adapter to the device to have it work correctly in other supported countries.

  • I dropped my ipod 4 into the toilet. I tried turning it on twice, stupidly. Then put it in rice. Is there any hope for my ipod? and if not is there a way to get all 1500 of my photos? Pleaaase help!!!

Hello i dropped my ipod in the toilet (clean water). Once i took it out of the toilet i pressed the home button and within a second it shut off! :( I quickly dried it with a towel and accidently pressed the top button!  D: and put it immediatly into a bag of rice. 3-4 hours passes and i tried to turn it on nothing happened.  I honestly tjougjt it would be dry...stupidly! and now its on the rice and has been in there for an hour since the last time i triwd turnong it on. Is there any hope that my ipod will be okay? and if not could it be repaired? How much is it to repair? One more question what will happen to my photos, is there a way i could atleast get my photos?!? Please please please help!!!!!! please!!!

Hey Posada143, You can still try the rice thing, but do not expect much, as roaminggnome has stated. The rice only works if you do it ASAP and leave the iPod off-- do not attempt use, turn on or charge until it is completely dried out. This is probably academic at this point but remember this for the next time: The drying can take 10 days. You put the uncooked rice and iPod in a sealed bag, change the rice every couple of days. This creates a low humidity environment and draws the moisture out of the iPod, but it takes time. Turn your iPod on to earlier, and you run the risk of shorting out, damaging the components inside. Even if done correctly it can spotty. If you do get the iPod to work (and this may require Resetting, Restoring or attempting to place it in DFU recover mode) the first thing you do is make backups, because you never know how long it will continue to work. As for your pictures, if you can't get your iPod to work, you can try data retrieval companies, however; there is no guaranty it will work and it tends to be very expensive. In the future get in the habit of as making backups, because you just don't know. And invest in and use a water tight case. Hope this helps, Good luck. Cheers.
