Palm m515 and Windows 7 (64 bit) - Help!

From reading previous posts I get that there are no drivers for Windows 7, especially the 64 bit kind and we can't sync through USB.
I also couldn't find a way to upload the backup data from the old palm pc software to the new one, even by importing files saved on the program folder or a memory stick. I simply can't get my stuff from my Palm or the old computer into the new desktop.
Is there anything being done about this (will there be drivers soon?) or has someone found a solution for this yet?
I'm going quietly insane...  please tell me good news.

Hi,
Yeah I was wondering about the drivers myself. In any case, I haven't bought the USB to IR adapter yet, so I can't tell you yet if that worked, but I can promise you that uninstalling and reinstalling won't solve the issue. It will just frustrate you.
My temporary solution (while I buy the dongle) was this:
I uninstalled the latest version of Palm desktop software I had found online (6.2) and installed the same version I used to have in my old laptop (4.1.4).
In the old laptop, I clicked on calendar, export, and saved it in a USB. Same with my to-do list, the memos, the address book, etc. made export files and sent them to a USB. Then imported them on the new laptop.
Now I have all the information, past and present in my new laptop. As soon as I get the adapter and try it out, I'll update this post to let you know if it worked, but at least I can now access all the data on my desktop (even if I cant sync yet).

  • Palm m515 and windows 8 compatibility

Hi all! I have an M515, and am upgrading to a new computer with a Windows 8 OS. Is there software out there that will still let me use my M515 with the Windows 8?
Thanks in advance for the help!

Hi and welcome to the HP Support Community.
Install Palm Desktop 6.2.2 plus a free utility from www.pimlicosoftware.com called PalmHotsyncSetup.  This utility adds Palm Desktop 6.2.2 compatibility to older Palm OS devices.
If your Windows 8 computer is 64-bit, you will also need the 64-bi USB drivers found and discussed here.
Good luck, let us know how it goes.

  • Trouble hotsync palm m515 to windows vista

I think I have been to every single board to find a solution.  I have a windows vista and my palm m515 wont hotsync.  It said to download pd 6.2.2 and palmhotsyncsetup from pimlicosoftware which I did and it still won't sync!!!!!!!!!! Very, very upset someone please help.
    Post relates to: Palm m515

Hope this helps....  Having the same problem with PD 6.xxx  Using a Palm m515 with Vista Ultimate.  Can connect but no data transfers.  I tried to overwrite the newer palm desktop with an older version (know you're not supposed to do that, but???)  Got an error message saying a newer version was installed, and it quit.  Went to the control panel - add/remove software, and removed the newer palm desktop.  Then I downloaded the older (ver 4.1xx) and installed it.  Once it was up, the hotsync did NOT show a USB connect option, but apparently Vista and Palm don't really care, because it worked like a charm.  Hit the hotsyn button on the PDA and off we went.  Now I have to go to my wife's laptop (same OS and problem) and export a BUNCH of her stuff and do the same remove and install scenario.  Her laptop, her data, my problem - by marital default.

  • PALM VX and Windows Vista 64Bit

Hey I have been searching all over the site for a solution to my problem and I don't think there is one.  I have a Palm VX and I am trying to sync it up with my new Vista Machine.  The catch is that my OS is 64-bit I have seen that it says Windows Vista 64 is not compatible, but I have installed Palm Desktop 4.414 and it works fine.  But before I order a serial to USB adapter I wanted to know for sure if there is any way around this problem.
    Post relates to: Palm Vx

I just recently purchased a new PC with Windows Vista 64-bit.  Although I was told and read through postings such as this that synching my Sprint Palm Treo 755p would not be possible.  As an IT professional, I was not willing to take no for an answer.  I spent the day doing research and am happy to report that as of yesterday I was able to get my Treo to sync up with my Outlook 2007 on the Vista 64-bit OS.
Here is how I did it:
    1.  I determined that since the Palm Hotsync cable didn't have any drivers to support the 64-bit, I would sync using my Bluetooth dongle.
    2.  Went to website for dongle (BlueSoleil) and found the Vista 64-bit drivers and downloaded those.
    3.  Set up the Bluetooth as a network opening Com 5.
    4.  Set up the Hotsync for network using Com 5
    5.  Went to Palm website and downloaded the conduits for Outlook 2007
    6.  Did a Hotsync via Bluetooth with the handheld overwriting Outlook.
    7.  Downloaded Chapura Pocket Mirror and set the conduits for Outlook.
I am now syncing like the Titanic.

  • PSE9 and Windows Live Mail - Help

I am trying to send photos via "Share" email attachement and Windows Live Mail.  I get to the part where you are supposed to be sent to WLM, and then it comes up with the error message "Elements Organizer could not finish creating your e-mail message.  Alternately, you can use Adobe E-mail Service via the Elements organizer preference dialog."  WLM has been selected as the mail server in the preferences section of Elements, and also in Windows 7.
I don't want to send mail through Adobe E-mail Service, but I did try that.  I get to the same spot, and the entire program crashes.
    Furstrated!

Adobe have had problems with the Windows 7 email client ever since they issued a patch for PSE8.
Furthermore it will not work with 64 bit editions of Outlook, to the disappointment of many but you would think they would have sorted out Live Mail before launching PSE9. The product help screens are entirely misleading.
Both PSE8 and PSE9 are said to be Windows 7 compatible, but in reality they aren’t. Even after downloading the patch Adobe customers are still reporting problems.
If you are using a purchased copy of PSE9, rather than the trial I would suggest you raise a ticket with the support team and claim your entitlement to help with a solution.

  • Palm TX and Windows Vista

Is there third-party software that will enable one to connect the Palm TX to a PC operating under Windows Vista?  If so, has anyone had experience, good or bad, with it?
    Post relates to: Palm TX

Thank you both for your helpful comments.  I am moving along, albeit at a snail’s pace and I need some clarification on a couple of points.
My machine has the Vista 64bit operating system, but it does not have bluetooth capability, so I understand that I need to purchase a D-Link Bluetooth adapter.  I find that there are two models.  Is the DBT 120 D-Link adequate or do I need the DBT 122 D-Link adapter?
I currently have Palm Desktop 4.2 on my computer.  When I loaded Palm Desktop 6.2 I found that it erased my calendar and my address book.  I had both backed up, but I didn’t even need the backup.  When I uninstalled 6.2 and reloaded 4.2 from my Palm disk, both strangely reappeared.  However, how can I load and keep 6.2 without losing my calendar and address book?
    Thanks again.

  • Palm m515 under Windows Vista 64

I just acquired a Palm m515 from a relative of mine.  I brought it home to hook it up, downloaded and installed the newest version of the Palm Desktop (PalmDesktopWin62.exe) to set up the HotSync.  Upon hitting the HotSync button on the cradle, a box pops up telling me that I need a driver, after searching the Palm website and Google and not finding much information from either place, I decided to post here.  Am I wasting my time or is there anyway I can use the HotSync with this computer.
    Post relates to: Palm m515

You will be limited to using Palm Desktop 4.1.4E.  It should sync regular PIM databases, but install tool doesn't work on Vista.
There are many (many) threads here about Vista issues and the Palm Desktop software, as well as the Vista information page linked from the main Palm Support site.
Topic is veering from the original Message Subject re: Windows Vista 64.  These subjects are covered in many other threads which can be found with the Search function, so this thread will be marked Read Only.

  • Quicktime and Windows 64-bit OSs

    Hello,
Does anybody know how to get Quicktime to show the control bars on an web video when the OS is Windows and it is 64-bit.
I have tried in XP 64-bit, Vista 64-bit and 7 64-bit, but all I get is the first picture in the video, no controls to get it to start.
    Thanks

The bars never show up in 64bit Vista with QT 7.6.4. They do show up in 7.6.6 but 7.6.6 has some play issues that have not been resolved yet.

  • Question on Palm 500 and BlackBerry Storm--please help!

Hi, I'm not sure where to post this, but here is my story.
For several years, I've had a Palm 500.
I believe, when I purchasedit,I had to choose to Hot Sync between either my PC at home or my Mac at work. I chose to Hot Sync at home and that was an error because I was mostly using it for work. In time, I got tired of tapping everything in with the stylus and mostly use it as an address book now, even though I have $hundreds in third-party apps going unused.
Recently, I’ve been considering buying a BlackBerry Storm. I don’t really plan to use it on the Net but Verizon says I have to pay $30 a month just for web fees or I can’t get that phone. My husband says there is a way nowadays to HotSync to both a PC and a Mac. Or at least for me to hook up the Palm 500 to the Mac at work and be able to use iCal etc. there.
If I choose to buy the BlackBerry he says I can transfer all my Palm data to the BB.
Can anyone tell me: 1. Is any of this true? 2. If I stay with the Palm how do I get the necessary hardware/software for my iMac? 3. Should I just deep-six the Palm 500 because it’s so old?
I really need some kind of organization software/device because deadlines are piling up and I’m gonna get in trouble on my job!
    Thanks!!!
    Post relates to: Palm m500

Hi, and welcome to the Palm Community Forums.
You always had the ability to sync with two different desktops, even of different platforms.  This Palm Knowledgebase Article discusses how to Hotsync one device on two different desktops:
    http://tinyurl.com/kq4c5
The Mac hotsync software is downloadable from the support/download site linked above if you don't have your original installation disc.  Just be sure you pay heed to the article's instructions about only using ONE desktop for full 2-way sync, using the second desktop for one-way sync (Handheld Overwrites Desktop) as a clone of the other.
As for the BB Storm, I am unfamiliar with it but it looks like you would probably have to sync with M$ Outlook or some other organizer app which is compatible with the Blackberry Desktop software (suggest you peruse the BB site for info).  If you don't already sync with Outlook, you would have to migrate your data from Palm Desktop to Outlook.  You can do that but you might need your original installation disc.  I'm not sure whether the m500 came with Outlook conduits or Chapura Pocket Mirror to sync with Outlook...and I'm just a little bit frustrated right now trying to find stuff on the newly redesigned web site to be able to point you to the right answer on that.
Whether to deep-six the m500 or not is a tough one.  Palm's handheld PDA business is pretty much a goner...no new stand-alone PDAs are planned, and the "current" models (TX, E2 and Z22) now seem to be at the end of their production life.  So it seems that whatever is still out there in the supply stream (like www.amazon.com where you can get a new TX for something like $270) is probably about it. Your m500 is already a dinosaur, and parts will get harder to come by.  But if you like the stand-alone PDA it seems that now would be the time to get a replacement for your m500.  Their speed, display resolution and other capabilities are far superior to your m500.

    Hello
When you compile your application, you must use x86 type as target CPU. reason: B1 and SDK components are running in 32 bit mode under x64 machines. x64 application cannot communicate x86 applications in .COM components. Your addon is compiled to x64, and the DI API is x86 compiled.
This is the reason why you receice error message,
Also nice, if you give the directirve Win32 = True to the compiler when you build you appliaction.
