Palm OS and Mac Leopard Question

Hi, I am using a Palm Treo 755p (Sprint).  It is currently connected to a Mac running OS 10.4.11 (with issues in syncing, I might add....mostly duplicates appear/secondary addresses 'gone') with Palm Desktop 4.2.1 software, connected for HotSync via USB.
I just got a new Mac running Leopard 10.5.6 and before I install any Palm Software, I want to make sure that Palm Desktop 4.2.1 is the most recent/correct version, and that it WILL work and not mess up a clean, new computer installation.
So...is the Palm Desktop software compatible with Leopard?  Are there any compatibility issues?????
Thanks....and anxiously awaiting the Pre and NEW software!  Yeah.

Yes, Palm Desktop 4.2.1 is compatible with Mac OS 10.5.6 and I have two computers running on it without problems

  • PC and Mac networking question

So I want to know if this is possible and if you're feeling generous, how to set it up.
Currently we have a Time Capsule base station between a router and Mac Server. We want to have the Macs connect directly to the base station via Wireless-N while still having access to the internet and Mac Server, and have the PC users connect to the Linksys router via Wireless-G while having access to the Windows Servers and Internet. Here's a quick visualization:

You do not have to disable wireless to put the Time Capsule in bridge mode. What are you doing exactly?
So with that set up, the Macs will be able to connect to the Mac server without any traffic going through the Linksys?
That traffic should not travel through the Linksys.

  • Photoshop CS3 with Epson Stylus Photo 1400 and Mac Leopard

I have Adobe Photoshop CS3 and an Epson Stylus PHOTO 1400 printer and Mac OS X 10.5.4.
When I print a photo it comes out with excessive ink which smears very easily and has lines in it. It only does it in Photoshop. When I print from any other program it comes out fine. I've seen reviews online where people have printed from Macs and photoshop onto the printer and it worked. I've already contacted Epson, but they said to contact Adobe. Does anybody have any advice?

    Forget Epson's useless tech support.
What you describe is typical of improper printer profile or usage of non-Epson paper, especially paper with gloss. Have you profiled the printer/paper and are you using Epson paper (or other paper and profiles specifically recommended here for Epson photo-quality printers) properly selected?
Like Ramón I am on 10.4.11, not 10.5.x, but I doubt if your described problem is due to the OS version.

  • Palm Sync and Snow Leopard

    Hi,
I just upgraded to a Mac with Snow Leopard and realized that my Palm Centro no longer syncs. I looked at all the discussions online. I see that Apple isn't doing anything, Palm isn't doing anything, and I'm supposed to pay $40 for a new program that might not work. I just want to use iCal for my Palm calendar. Does anyone have a fresh idea? It would be much appreciated. I'm a little disappointed in both Mac and Palm right now.
    Thanks.

  • Palm IIIc and Mac OS 10.5.8

Trying to resurrect a IIIc that has set idle for at least 5 years. First question, doesn't seem to charge.... red light comes on and goes off after a few minutes of time in cradle, so it probably needs a new battery? Second question is: when changing battery, will I loose all files and info previously stored on the Palm when I disconnect battery? THird question,: I used to sync up to a Mac OS of 9, no longer have the Mac due to a home fire, will I be able to eventually hookup to a MacBook running 10.5.8 and do I need new software for this system? Thanks for any help.....

I'm having the same problem using OS 10.5 and Meeting Maker 8.7.1b63 on MacBookPro and Palm TX. Syncs fine on Power PC G5 running 10.4. Get same error message using 10.5:  "log4cplus:ERROR no appenders could be found for logger (log4cplus.logger.mm.support.exception).  log4cplus:ERROR Please initialize the log4cplus system properly."
    Any resolution to your problem?

  • Windows 7 and Snow Leopard Question

Okay, sorry for sounding naive here, but i'm browsing through questions about Windows 7 and bootcamp... and its problems... Why would one install something that isn't even supported yet?
I mean, last I checked, Apple posted this: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3920 about the compatibility of Boot Camp and Windows 7.
The reason why I ask is that, I'm planning on switching from a Dell (which is running Win7 on it)to a macbook pro. I actually really like Windows 7 but considered the idea of switching to a mac.
So I guess the first question, I'm curious about. The second question is... what other sort of problems have people experienced with installing Windows on a mac using bootcamp?

Resizing partitions isn't supported, though there is an over-priced utility or two, but I feel double what you need now.
Most people don't need Ultimate, Home Premium 64-bit if you have 4GB or more is fine. If you keep the Dell, you'll need another copy.
Updating drivers shouldn't be a big issue.
Having good thermal fan control is essential - and that has almost always been weak or non-existent.
Battery life in Windows is also shorter than on similar PC laptops I think even still.
Mac OS can always be booted off internal AND external hard drive (no limit to one boot volume) and is lighter on disk space. All depends on what you load up on each system.
And whether you plan to run Windows natively as it sounds like, and whether you want to run Windows inside Mac OS (Parallels and Fusion let you use your Boot Camp volume).

  • WRT150N and Mac Leopard compatibility? correction

I apologize for getting my cats mixed up. I have Mac OS 10.5.1 leopard not panther. My new iMac has a DHCP address assigned and I cannot get connected to the set up web site. I just continually get timed out because it is not recognized. I have ethernet connected to device and computer per instructions. At least I believe so. any more I don't know what to believe. Does anyone know how to permanently re set the IP address on the computer? I can't re set it for the linksys if I wanted to since I have no access. Or is there some simple solution I am too dense to know? Oh and I can access the address just fine on my old Mac with Tiger OS

Are you getting a valid IP address from router like 192.168.1.100 , are you able to ping 192.168.1.1 ? Try hard resetting router for 30 seconds.

  • Windows XP and Mac Filesystem Question...

    hey there!
I recently gathered some videos on my PC that I would like to edit on my Mac.
To do this, I have an external USB 2 HDD (160GB) that I would like to transfer the files to. Is there any way I can get my Windows XP machine to recongnise Mac OS's Extended File System if I was to format the HDD on the mac and connect it to the PC?
At the moment the HDD is using FAT32 and cannot support files that are larget than 4GB so I need to figure out a different way to accomplish this!
    Thanks!

Can't you just share out the drive on the PC and SMB mount the drive on the Mac in OSX?
Make sure there's a useer account on the PC that has access (or guest) to the PC and assign that account to the share for access.
A cross-over cable will allow Enet connection between the 2 machines if they're not networked.
A lot easier than all the stuff.

  • Archive and Install Leopard - questions about "previous system" folder

now that i have done an archive and install for leopard I have a "Previous system" folder. In it is "Applications", "Library", "Private", "Users", and "System" folders.
Which can I delete and which must I save??

    Hi DrAndy;
It is my understanding that after testing the installation done with an Archive & Install once you are certain that everything is working correctly the "Previous System" folder can be deleted in it's entirety.

  • Mac OS 10.6 Snow Leopard question

    Hello,
I just preordered Snow Leopard from Amazon for my Early 2008 white MacBook, I know the system is not released yet but I'd like to ask a general question about Mac operating systems.
Once I get Snow Leopard, do you recommend me to update my current 10.5.8 Leopard OS or do you recommend me to do a erase and install to my actual OS?
I'm asking this because I didn't have a Mac yet when the update from Tiger to Leopard was made, and I'd like to know what did you guys do back then.
I know in Windows world an update like this is unthinkable, it makes the operating system inestable, full of useless files and so on. Does this happen on Mac too, or is the upgrade easy, smooth and recommendable?
    Thanks for your answers,
    Mauri

    UndergroundRiver:
I plan to erase and install when upgrading as I come from the Windows world and just can't understand the concept of not erasing and installing.
Comparisons between Windows Operating Systems/machines and Macs and OS X are not necessarily apt. Even though we may not know exact details about Snow Leopard, we do know that Mac OS X offers several installation options, and the OS is designed to work within those parameters. In other words, an erase and install may not be appropriate or necessary under every condition.
In terms of backing up, one is well advised to maintain an up-to-date and reliable backup at all times, of course. However, this is even more critical whenever one contemplates undertaking any major procedure, such as installation of the OS. If you would like specific suggestions about backing up, please do ask. You don't have to know where all the files are on your HDD. There are several excellent utilities that will do the work for you.

  • Any new info about being able to sync my iphone 4 with the Palm Desktop on macs running snow leopard?

Any new info about being able to sync my iphone 4 with the Palm Desktop on macs running snow leopard? Why doesn't someone take a a few hours and write a workaround so I can sync all my info including my Palm notes to my iphone via Palm Desktop without putting it in the clouds or making it complicated?  : (

I feel your pain.  I am a long time user of Palm Desktop/Claris Organizer and have an iPhone that I really can't sync except by doing an export and import into iCal, etc.  You might try Missing Sync.  I have been working intermittently with writing a replacement for Palm Desktop, but I've only gotten as far as dumping out the information for everything (except repeating appointments) as an XML file.

  • Troubleshooting Address Book issues using Palm Desktop for Mac (v. 4.2.1) and a T3?

Can someone please make suggestions which would correct the following issues?
    1) When printing an Address Book from my Mac, the information in the "title" field prints twice. (I have checked my Preferences settings & reviewed how I have entered the information, etc. and everything is in order; also, an Address CARD DOES print correctly --- and --- after syncing to my T3 and then to my husband's PC, an Address Book prints correctly from the PC.)
    2) After I have synced the Address Book from my Mac to my T3, the "zip code" entries appear BEFORE the "city" entries on the T3. (The zip codes appear correctly on my Mac and print out correctly.)
    3) After I have synced the Address Book from my Mac to my T3, the "contacts" all appear in BLACK on my T3. Is there any way to show the different "contact categories" in COLOR on the T3 as they were originally entered in my Palm Desktop for Mac?

  • Sync Palm treo with Mac and Windows

Have a Palm Treo 650 for both personal and work use. Unse a Windows box at work and a Mac at home. I can sync the Palm with my Mac, and I can sync it with Outlook in Windows, but doing this leads to problems, especially multiple entries in both calendar and contacts.
What I'd like to do is set the Palm up to sync with Outlook on the Windows box, and have it overwrite the data on the Mac when I sync at home. I can't find options for this in iSync 2 (merge data or overwrite device).
    Any suggestions?
