Palm OS Upgrades

I know there were Palm OS Upgrades for the Palm 3, Palm V, among other older devices why are these unavailable now, and if they are unavailable from Palm where can they be obtained. Because some people actually need them, myself included, and generally new palm users buy a cheaper old device before going with a newer palm not knowing anything about Palm OS.. I've been bugged all week by clients looking for these palm os upgrades for their older devices..

Palm Tx Upgrade

Is there a phone upgrade for the Palm Tx? I'm on the sprint network and have a Treo 755P of which I'd like to upgrade to. I'm not sure of which device need to be upgraded in order to link the two devices together. I'd like to be able to email, text and make calls from the TX if at all possible. Please help

There are no Phone updates for the TX - it has the "latest" ones on it already.
There are some threads over at BrightHand.com that might explain some of the facts. Biggest one is that the TX seems to work best with GSM networked phones instead of CDMA.

Palm V Upgrade OS

Hi,
I have recently started playing with my Dads old Palm V and want to upgrade the OS from 3.3 to 3.5 or 4.1 if possible but after searching the web for several days I can only find dead links back to the Palm website and looking through some of the posts I did see several hopeful looking links all of which proved fruitless.
If any one would be kind enough to help I would be extremely grateful.

I do not have an answer for you, however, I too have an "ancient" Palm V PDA and am looking for an answer as to how I can retireve all my contact information from my Palm V now that Palm no longer supports this PDA with software to run on the Windows 7 OS.
If you should hear back from anyone or if you have a suggestion as to how I can access my contact information from my Palm V, please let me know.

Unfortunately, no. The Palm Pre is an instore only item...you would have to go to your local store to be able to get one with an upgrade.
Don't take what I say as being absolute. There's always room for improvement.

Palm desktop upgrade

Hello. I've been using a Zire 31 for years and I've just purchased an old Zire 71. The Palm Desktop application on my windows XP pc , for the Zire 31, has a file, "contacts" where I store most of my data. On the Zire 71 the file is "address". When I Hot Sync to the 71 the field is not populated how do I transfer all my dat from the "contacts" file of the Zire 31 to the "address" file of the Zire 71. Thanx

On the Palm desktop are you syncing to the correct user name? (top right hand corner of the palm desktop) (On the device in hotsync app, top right hand corner)

Palm os upgrade from 3.0 to 3.3 - please help me find

I recently get an old palm III which unfotunally runs palm os 3.0 which won't hot sync via irda, since I have cable I would like to update, can someone direct me to WORKING download (all links wchich I found linked to palm.com on which it's no longer hosted), maybe someone could upload it to rapidshare or sth like that? As far as I know it was free so it's perfectly legal... Please share I would really like to use my palm III for ebook reading

Tap the time in the top left corner of the screen and go to App--->Info and then select version from the bottom menu next to size.

Upgrading Palm 3Com III from OS 3.0.2 to 3.3

I am attempting to upgrade the OS on an old Palm III that still works very well for me. I have had it for 10 years and I do not need to upgrade hardware. I am using the following Palm OS upgrade:
PalmOS330_ENG_PalmIII.exe
When I get to the backup data phase, I am able to hotsync and then the reset handheld button pops up on my Palm. When I reset my palm the startup screen comes back garbled, and when I hit next on the upgrade utility on my computer I get the following message:
"Encountered an error preparing to flash the handheld - couldn't attach to the handheld. Timeout error."
The upgrade utility closes and I then have to reset the palm manually with the reset button.
Am I missing a file or step in this process?

Updating your system to 9.1 or newer is necessary to run the firmware updater, and it is also necessary if you want to have a Classic environment for Mac OS X. You also need to have at least 256MB RAM and 5GB free or 512MB RAM and 4GB free on the hard disk to create a minimal Mac OS X system and operate it effectively. If you will be using CPU-intensive applications or creating large libraries, such as for iTunes or iPhoto, more RAM and disk space may be needed.

Syncing Palm E2 - Windows 7 - 64 bit

I am having trouble syncing my Palm E2 with my new Dell laptop with Windows 7 (64 bit). I have installed all the software from the installation disk that came with the Palm and upgraded to the highest version 7.02.01 available for W7 on Palm's site, but sync still does not work. Is there a driver or patch I can download to allow me to use my Palm on my laptop?

Data transfer from old to new Palm using HotSync Manager and iSync

I'm upgrading from a Palm m515 to a Palm TX and want to quickly and easily transfer all of my data and applications. I'm using Palm's HotSync Manager but not the Palm Desktop software -- I'm using Apple's iSync to synchronize my data with iCal and Address Book.
Can anyone tell me what steps I should follow to safely accomplish the transfer?
I was hoping someone had written a guide to this, but Web searching revealed nothing. The best info I found was on Palm's site, but these pages don't take iSync into account and assume people are using Palm Desktop:

Just use Migration Assistant when you start the new machine. You can choose to migrate from either the old MBP or your TM backup.
If you have already taken delivery of the new machine and are using it you can still do this by running Migration Assistant.
It's pretty simple process.

Help a lost Brazilian Palm addict ...

Here's the situation: My Zire 71 was stolen. I managed to buy a Zire M150. Tried a sync with the data of the Z 71 that was in my desktop. It didn't work. Inserted the Zire M150 CD and downloaded the Installation program. Tried to sync again. Didn't work ...
Not only didn't work, but my data, from the desktop is GONE !!!! (the old M150 was blank) ...
Can anyone help me finding my data ? Is it lost forever ... ? Isn't there a folder where I can find the data ?
Second question would be: can I sync the M150 with the Zire 71 data ???

I'm not the best person to help with this, as I never had to undertake the procedure. I think the following article describes two options that might be relevant to you. #3 sounds easiest: delete your new username and re-use the old username.

Can't view photos on Palm TX - application won't load?

Just attempted to load a few photos onto my TX (besides the stock photos that come with the TX) and now the application won't load?? The error msg I get is "The application cannot be launched because it is missing localization information" - what does this mean and how do I resolve this problem??? I could view the pics that came with the TX before but now since attempting to add my own it doesn't work anymore. FYI ....I had the same pics on my Tungsten E prior to this Palm without any problems.

Sounds like you didn't follow Palm's Upgrade Directions and now have system and preferences files that belong to the T|E on your TX. Hard reset the TX and follow these directions.

Palm V os update

Hi, I hope this is in the right section.
I've had a Palm V that I bought from ebay for about a week now. The software (palmtune for megasquirt) I want to use with it requires os 3.5 and above and it only has 3.3. I can't seem to find a working download anywhere. I could get another palm from ebay but I like this one!
Can you point me in the right direction to find the download?
