Palm Pre gets incredibly hot when charging.

Does anyone else have this problem? I mean it's so hot that sometimes when I pick it up I almost drop it instantly because my hand feels like it might get burnt. I think it's gotten so hot that it actually burnt the screen. There is a little orange spot on the screen that shouldn't be there.

@playacapper:
If your phone has gotten hot enough to feel on the front of the screen, even to potentially damage the screen, I would recommend contacting our technical support department for a potential replacement.
Contact numbers are in my signature, and if this is a hardware issue, there should be no charge for the call.

  • My I touch gets very hot when charging, and it won't turn on.  I've tried all the resets/fixes and it does not respond.  Any Ideas?

I have tried charging my itouch on the computer, in a docking station, and it gets very hot.  It won't turn on, even after trying all the resets I've read on this site.  Any ideas what the problem is?  Is it fixable?

Hey Halefarm, What happens if you connect directly with the charging source with your cable, no docking station? Since resetting did not help, try connecting directly with the cable to your power source and your iPod. Next  try a different cable, there could be a short in the one you are currently using. If still will not charge correctly, I'm leaning in the direction of a failing battery. Set up an appointment to have your iPod evaluated by Apple. Have your iPod evaluated for possible battery issues. Take the cable and dock and have them tested as well. If it is a failing battery, you choices are; replace the battery, either through Apple or third party shop. Replace it yourself, if you can. Or,  you look into getting a new iPod. I don't have the cost of a new battery for an iPod 3, but I'm sure it's under $100. Check with Apple for exact pricing. Good luck, Cheers.

my ipod touch won't hold a charge and gets really hot when im using it. what is going on?

Likely that the battery is dead.  I would make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store to confirm. Apple will replace the battery for this price:

  • Gets hot when charging !

I'm new to the shuffle, and having problems... is it normal the shuffle gets hot when charging?? and orange light never goes green..., it also freezes my computer... I had to remove and reinstall itunes... that will help??
    thanks

I am having the same problems and lots more. I loaded new Itunes software; loaded new software for the shuffle and changed USB ports and nothing changes. Still getting very very hot. I am thinking that sending it back for replacement is the only way to fix this. I have three 1st Gen. shuffles and they are still working fine but this 2nd Gen isn't much of an improvement; other than the physical size.

The pwer adapter will become very warm when charging while using the computer. It will cool down considerably when the battery becomes fully charged. It happens to me as well.

  • My iPad mini adapter gets hot when charging?

Why does my iPad mini FireWire get hot when charging?

The iPad does not have FireWire, do you mean the USB cable?  The charger and cable will get warm during charging but should not actually be hot.  If they are too hot to handle, try a different charger/cable and see if they are just as hot.
If not, take the iPad, charger and cable to an Apple store genius bar to be examined by the technicians.

  • Nano getting hot when charging

I have a wall charger for my Nano, and everytime I use it Nano and the charger itself get so hot that it is hard to touch or pick it up. Fearing that the alarming heat might damage the battery, I decided to stop using the charger.
The puzzling part is that when I charge my Nano via my computer, it does not heat up. The Nano only heats up when I use the wall charger, and the charger heats up along with it. Is there something wrong with my Nano, or the charger I bought?
And yes, the charger and the Nano gets abnormally hot while charging - not the normal heat when you charge through an adapter.

I would suspect the charger. If it were me, I wouldn't be using it again until I got it thoroughly checked out.

  • My iPhone 5s with iOS 7.1 become very hot when charged almost reach 100% and will shut down itself.

My iPhone 5s with iOS 7.1 become very hot when charged almost reach 100 % and will shut down itself. Then I need to off the power and let it cool down first before I can on the phone back. Please help me to solve this problem. Thanks.

    Hi Limfromsi,
It is normal to an extent for the iPhone to get warm during charging. If your iPhone is currently in a case, you may want to try charging it without one and see if the issue occurs, as the design of the iPhone uses the exterior of the device as a cooling surface. For more information about iPhones and temperature, you may find the following article helpful:

If you continue to have issues with your iPhone in the default config (no case, using the included original cable and power adapter), you may want to have your phone evaluated for service. The following page may be of use:

  • IPhone Hot when charging

I have the first generation iPhone 8GB, and have been using it for less than a year. I recently noticed that the iPhone gets really hot when it's charging, especially with my car charger. I'm not sure if it's the result of the heat, the upper left corner of the screen appears a little brighter than the rest of the screen. It's barely noticeable, but I am wondering if there is something I can do other than to complain to Apple? Perhaps reset something?
I am currently running iPhone software 2.0, but it was getting hot with both 1.1.4 and 2.0.

Getting warm to hot while charging may be normal. Once charged there should be no more current flow and it should be normal temp.
I've always been a bit wary of car chargers, though, since the voltage they see can vary quite bit; good ones deal with that issue but some may not.
Does it get hot on your wall charger? If not you might want to find a new car charger.

  • MBP (2010) is extremely hot when charging

I just bought a new MBP 15' and I found it becomes very hot when charging --- case is closed. And I can hear the fan is working intermittently. I open the case and let it charging, then the fan stops working and the case is cooling several somewhat. In my old MBP (15' 2009 )model, no this issue. I always close the case and let it charge overnight. In the morning I can feel the case is as cold as ice. Can anyone explain to me is this normal or how can I adjust ? Does Apple apply some new technology in battery? Thanks in advance.

+and finally adjust the fan control+
I hope you're not using smcfancontrol or some other utility that changes the normal operating parameters Apple set for the fans ? They have been know to cause problems and I strongly advise against using things like that ... (Problems such as; running the fans at a higher speed for much longer than they are designed for and so the motors burn out; the temperature sensors getting stuck/confused and not coming on as they are supposed to, causing extreme overheating etc.)
If it's asleep then nothing should be running at all ...

  • What should i do if my ipod is getting really hot when i use it/

I need help my ipod keeps getting really hot when i use it

I would suggest you stop use for a period of time until it cools down. When you turn it off, make sure you exit out of whatever program you are running. If it persists getting hotter, to the point where it's hard to hold, I would suggest you take it into the Apple store nearest you. Depending on how long you have had it, they may be able to replace it for you free of charge.
It is abnormal for that device to get extremely hot but when it is running multiple programs, such as playing music and surfing safari, it can heat up.

    Hi rhaughan,
I see that you have concerns about your operating temperature of your computer while using resource-heavy applications such as gaming applications. I have an article that will address some of the concerns you have mentioned:
Mac notebooks: Operating temperature - Apple Support
    http://support.apple.com/en-is/HT201640
While there are third-party utilities that measure the temperature of a notebook computer, it is important to understand that these utilities are not measuring the external case temperature. The actual case temperature is much lower. Never use third-party applications to diagnose possible hardware issues—instead, contact Apple or go to an Apple Retail Store or Apple Authorized Service Provider.
You should also see this article for even further information about your fans:
