Does a wireless router such as the DLink provide WiFi connectivity to the PRE? The Sprint network coverage at our house is rather poor.

What info do I need to enter to access my home wireless router when setting up my new IPad?

While setting up my new IPad I keep having trouble connecting to my home wireless router. It keeps telling me to pick a wi-fi network from the list it gives me of ones that are available. I choose my home wi-fi network that is password protected and it places a check mark next to the name. From that point it does nothing. It says "connecting to network" and the circle icon appears and seems to be searching for the connection but nothing ever happens. Connect to a router via web browser from another device, open "settings" -> "wireless"( sequence and title of menu depending on model and manufacturer of your router) and try to change wireless mode to 802.11N or if this mode not accessable, to 802.11g mode only. Save this settings( router will reboot) and connect Ipad2.

I just bought the HP Touch 600XT PC all in one. I would like to set my home for wireless regardless where I am in the home to access the printer-HP J4680 all in one printer. Can I use Airport for a computer to computer network AND my wireless router

...at the same time?
I've got a MacBook Air and a MacBook Pro which I can happily connect together to share files or do screen sharing via a computer to computer airport network, or I can also switch (via Finder's airport menu) to my router's wireless network to access t'internet.
But, is it possible to NOT have to switch this over? I'd like to be able to share both computers' files AND be online at the same time. I'm hoping that the airport network can access the other Mac AND the wireless router simultaneously.
I'm guessing I couldn't use internet sharing on one of the computers because BOTH of them need to be switched to the ad-hoc computer to computer network.
I apologise if this question has been asked in the forums before, but it's impossible to do a meaningful search with keywords "airport" "internet" "computer to computer network" - those words cover pretty much every network-related post!

Airport can only connect to one wireless interface at a time...
However you are going about things the wrong way, what you want is a LAN... and that is exactly what your router provides, connect both computers to the router and then initiate file sharing and other local protocols.
If it does not work you will have to configure your router to enable devices to communicate with each other.
To do so you enter the *router's IP address* into your web browser's address bar, you can find this under *system preferences> network> airport>*
i.e. some common router private addresses: 192.168.1.254, 192.168.0.1, 10.0.1.10
This will display the router's web interface, you will need to refer to your router's documentation to find out how to configure it, but many are self explanatory or provide on page help. What most "user friendly" routers call it is "device isolation" or something similar, - this needs to be disabled (to allow all clients to communicate with each other).

My wireless router is that TP-LINK and it`s firmware is updated to the latest version. (I using the stock firmware). There are no wireless network in range, that are using the same channel as mine is. The latency is happening to my friends connected to my router too. I am using wicd for network manager, and wicd-curses for network manager front-end.
I will post more info if needed.
Please advise me what can I do.

Okay well I can see nothing that would cause this in anything you've posted. Especially if your friends are experiencing this too.
I would either try downgrading the firmware (If after upgrading this happened). However, I see that your TL-WR1043ND is VERY well supported by Open-WRT. You may want to give it a look.
Remember that the WiFi channels are overlapped. Try getting as far away as possible from other networks.
Ensure you are running WPA-PSK with the AES cipher and a key of 63 pseudorandom characters. This way others are not using your WiFi to torrent and suck bandwidth.
Try to stick to 802.11g but if at all possible go with 802.11n. Also if possible move up to the 5Ghz band to get out of the way of other things using the 2.4Ghz uncontrolled spectrum block.
If your router is running things like DHCP, DNS, FTP, SMB, SSH, NTP, VPN, Etc... Quit it. Your TL-WR1043ND is running a 400Mhz processor with 32Mb of memory.
That's basically all the advice I've got. Hope that get's the ball rolling on fixing this for you.

Home Wireless Router Cascading

I had a WRT610N wireless router that was working fine and just replaced it with a e4200. Everything on the e4200 is also working fine, as far as I can tell. I want to redeploy the WRT610N in the far reaches of my home as a wireless hub to add range to my network. I supposed that I could connect a LAN cable to the 610N get a DHCP address from the e4200 and then pass wireless traffic that connects to the 610N to the e4200. However it does not seem to work. I cannot get an IP address from the e4200.
Is using a 610N router as a wireless hub something that should be possible?

Problem connecting Nokia C3 to home wireless route...

Good day, Nokia!
I recently bought a Nokia C3-00 WiFi phone but I can't seem to browse my home wireless connection with it. The phone can detect and connect with the wireless network successfully but when I open my mobile browser, it can't load websites, saying "Service not available."
However, I can connect and browse the internet through other WiFi hotspots, just not my home connection. The router I'm using is LP-8616. It's an AP router, if that helps. Unfortunately, there's no firmware upgrade for this router anymore.
I've read all the threads about this problem here and all over the internet but still nothing works for me. Hope you or somebody here could help me to finally solve this problem. More Power!

Allsolution from another post, see /t5/Cseries/C3-wifi-problem-connect-to-wlan-but-internet-not-work/m-p/950115#M14517. Found out how to solve the problem of connecting via WLAN in the following way (the phone was able to connect to the Internet only through the GSM provider network):
Step 1: Menu> Settings> Configuration> Personal Settings> Add> Web or Streaming or any other (Just add, needs no other settings)
Step 2: Menu> Settings> Configuration> Default config. settings (choose MyWeb, Personal Settings or the name created at step 1)
Step 3: Menu> Settings> Configuration> Personal settings (delete the field created in step 1) then go to Menu> Settings> Configuration> Preferred access point (choose one of the available options)
Now you can open your browser and try to connect. It should ask what method you choose (WLAN or Access Point Preferred)
If your phone does not want to be connected via the GSM provider network, the user can manually enter settings for defining an Access Point (Step 4)
Step 4: Menu> Settings> Configuration> Personal Settings> Add> Access Point (check with GSM provider for account settings)
Step 5: Menu> Settings> Configuration> Preferred access point (select the field you created earlier)
I know that what I wrote above may seem like science fiction for a user who is not accustomed to butoneasca phone and non-stop, but I assure you that the operation should take no longer than 5 minutes.

Trouble connecting to home wireless router

I'm using a Belkin wireless router with security mode of WPA/WPA2-Personal (PSK).
My iPod touch 2G used to be able to connect to the wireless network, but it can't now. It gives me incorrect password message. Only thing I've done is update the software to 3.0.

thank you SOOO much!!! I had been struggling for a couple of hours and this solved it all in under five minutes. it seems to be when you change from WEP (my old router) to WPA2 (new router) and not just 3.0. I have a Touch with 2.0 and it was the same story. thanks again!

Safari "Top Sites" and Belkin wireless router

Have been experiencing a problem with Safari / Belkin router for the past 3 days. I have noticed it occurs most often when using the "top sites" function of Safari. It seems that whenever I use top sites it causes a disconnect between my macbook and the belkin wireless router. My computer becomes disconnected from the router, even though the router continues to function as normal.
In tandem, a parallel problem which may be related:
In past three days I have been receiving constant floating window prompt to enter my Gmail info to "update RSS feed... password will be sent in clear text... etc." while using Safari. I have read other threads on this issue and some people attribute it to the top sites function, since updating Safari to the latest version.
Anyone else having the same issue with their wireless router when using the top sites function of Safari? To reiterate - the connection seems only to be lost when clicking on a top site in a new tab or window.

What are the differences between aiport extreme and linksys wireless router

We currently have an apple macbook connecting to the internet via a linksys router. We are considering an airport extreme wireless router, we are considering the cost. What are the advantages of purchasing an Airport Extreme router.... ??? Currently my wireless access appears to be more than adequate.

Besides Bob Timmons' comments, an AirPort Extreme supports these things, which your Linksys router may or may not support:
- A USB-connected networked disk drive
- A USB-connected printer that can be shared by all computers on your network
- MobileMe access to your local resources from outside your local network
- Configuration via a dedicated program, rather than via a browser interface
If none of these interests you or if any that interest you are already offered by your current router, and if you're happy with your Linksys router, then I'd keep the Linksys router.

Ubee D3 modem and AE wireless router

My modem is a Ubee3 from Charter Cable and is a docsys3 modem. My Airport Extreme is dual band wireless router. I'm having no trouble except ....
I have a new(ish) HP Officejet 7000 large format printer hooked up. It's a network printer and until today haven't had a problem printing to it from either of 3 machines. Today none of the machines see it. The MBP doesn't even list it in the Print/Fax pref pane anymore - no settings. I can't find the installer package or anything - weird!!! The Sawtooth in the other room at least sees the printer but can't communicate with it. It's like gnomes came in last night and rifled my computers.
2 things. How can I find the IP address being given to the printer. (Time for manual DHCP) .... and ..... Does anyone know how to get in to the web interface for the modem. My old DSL modem was cake at 192.168.0.1 and bingo, but this cable modem isn't working that way. It's at 10.0.0.1 but doesn't open the interface.

If you have not already done so, you need to first perform a complete power cycle of your network. To do this, power everything down...all devices....order is not important
Wait a moment, then start the modem first and let it run for a moment or two by itself
Start the AirPort Extreme the same way
Continue starting devices one at a time about a minute apart until the network is fully powered back up
This simple power cycle will often straighten out a connection issue on the network

You need to know the MAC address of the printer. It's on a label on the device.
Then, open AirPort Utility - Click Manual Setup
Click the Internet icon
Click the Advanced "gear icon), then click the Logging & Statistics tab below the icons
Click Logs and Statistics near the bottom of the window
Click DHCP Clients to associate the MAC address of the printer with the IP address that it has been assigned

It's at 10.0.0.1 but doesn't open the interface.
The AirPort Extreme is at 10.0.1.1. Is that what you mean here?

HOTSPOT AND the wireless router

I am using iphone 4 as a personal hotspot and accessing internet in my laptop. however at this moment I would like to have a vonage device should be connected (It will work only with a wired connection via router or a modem. Is there anyway to access the personal hotspot connection to a wireless router and connect the router with a cable to the vonage device?

You don't want a wireless router. You want a wireless bridge. See WES610N or WET610N. Can't tell though, whether they work with the personal hotspot.

Replacing and old wireless router with a Airport Extereme

I recently purchased a Airport Extereme. I replaced my old wireless router that connected directly from my phone jack. I can not get my Airport to connect the same way. What am I missing?

Your old wireless router may have been a combination modem and router. The AirPort Extreme still needs a modem. It can be either a DSL or cable modem, but it requires one with an Ethernet port - the Extreme cannot connect directly to a landline telephone system.

Time Capsule and FiOS wireless router

Can I connect the Time Capsule to my FiOS router and then disable the wifi feature on the FiOS router?

Are there any known issues with the TC in general, particularly from the wifi perspective?
TC is much better than it was.. make sure you keep it cool.. place it up from the bench on a couple of pencils.. that stuff about conductive rubber.. ignore it.. rubber in all its forms is an insulator and holds in heat. If it does start running really hot.. it has a fault and you should take it back.. Same with hard disk.. they occasionally go bad.. so backup to it.. fine.. storing files on it.. no don't do it.
Remember it is covered under your computer applecare.. so if you have any computer with extended applecare it will cover TC with certain conditions.. but that gives the TC effectively 3years warranty.. after that.. dispose of it and buy a new one.. the TC is not going to be reliable as the hard disk has been starting and stopping multiple times every day for 3years.. just don't trust them.
Wireless is ok.. I don't think it is particularly good range wise. Although Apple said how much better it was than previous Generations.. I have had all 4 now.. and performance in my experience was line ball between all of them. Apple design their routers to work very well with AEBS or AEx so if you want to extend wireless it is simple.. just it doesn't work with any other brand.. apple now reflecting a rather dark empire tendency.. they used to critize in others.
Clarification question...how do I backup my current files on the Lacie to the TC? Would that simply be connecting the two devices via USB and copying over?
Backing up TM files?? Not a good idea.. TM works differently on local disks and network disks.. and TC is best left to do its own stuff. If you mean moving actual file storage.. don't. The TC is not a file store.. it is a backup target.. TC has no way to back itself up.. and TM cannot backup a network drive .. so you would have to buy 3rd party software anyway.
Also USB on the TC is purely for printer and USB connected disk.. but you cannot directly copy from one to the other.. it would have to copy over network to the computer and then back to the TC.. it will be 2x to 4x faster if you do want to copy files to use Lacie plugged into the computer.. and copy to the TC. At least files are only going one way.

Airport card and Roadrunner Wireless Router

I'm trying to network my girlfriend's iMac 350 with a shiny used airport card from eBay to her wireless roadrunner router, but whenever it tries to connect it says that there is a list which the iMac must be on in order to have access to the internet. I'll give the entire error message next time I get in touch with her and her computer.
I tried to get into her router configuration (or whatever it is where you put the router address as a URL) to find this elusive list, but she does not know her username or password for to get into the configuration.
I've tried hooking the mac directly to the router and modem and a couple of combinations therein, called RR tech support, who apparently don't know jack about macs, and managed to fry her router, which was replaced free of charge. if the router is asking for a WEP key or for the iMac's M.A.C. address (that of the Airport card) for it to be allowed to communicate with the wireless then you need the password and admin information to the router.
Nothing can be done on the iMac's side to fix this.
The issue is with the router and how its set up its security functions to filter out computers not meant to be connected to it. You must add your iMac to the approved list or turn off the router's security functions.
