Palm Profile - LOST CONTACTS

I've already read one post on this topic but am wondering if anyone else has had any RECENT problems relating to this.
I recently got my third Palm Pre from Sprint Replacement (the other two had to be returned due to stupid AND common problems, powering down when I close or open the phone and battery not keeping a charge).  After activating my phone and logging into my Palm Profile, only TWO (both Sprint help numbers) of my contacts from my Palm Profile transferred over to my new Pre.  I've read an older (June) post on someone having an issue with this, is there anyone out there recently that has?
I've called Sprint about this problem and they transferred me to Palm.  I've gone through round one with Palm help (saying I needed to update my phone to the most current WebOS, which I did--still no contacts).  I'll be going through round two today once the help line opens up for the day.
I also should note that I got me second Palm Pre earlier in the week (Tuesday) and had NO problems with my Palm Profile keeping my contacts onto that phone.  That was just 3 days ago. AND I had to reset my first Pre and logged into my Palm Profile on that and had no problems with my contacts.
Is the problem when people are on their 3rd/4th/5th Pre and logging into their profile?
Any help would be appreciated.  And any idea how long of calling until I finally get my contacts back??
Thanks

Did you use google as your default the last time or Palm profile as the phone came when you bought it? If it was google, simply input your username and password for email, contact, calendar and everything on your google account should reflect on your Pre. If it was Palm profile before you lost data, I don;t think you will get it back. I am sorry to say this. You can try loggin in with a password you forgot, but I don't see a point for that.
Good luck.

My Palm Pre (running WebOS 1.4.5) recently became faulty. O2 replaced it with a refurbished Pre.
I'd forgotten my password for my Palm profile, so I was sent an email with a link to reset the password, which I did.
When entering my new password (to use my existing Palm profile), the new Pre complained about not being able to sync my data (or words to that effect). After booting, it seemed that none of my data was present, certainly not my contacts or calendar. Nor did my Pre download the apps that I had previously installed on my old Pre.
I upgraded the firmware on the new Pre to 1.4.5 (as it was running something older than that initially, I forget exactly what). I then fid a "Full Erase", and re-entered my Palm profile details.
This time, it managed to automatically download all the apps I had previously installed. However, still none of my contacts (other than those on my SIM) or calendar are present.
After all that, my question: Can I recover my contacts and calendar information?
    Thanks,
    Philip.

Oh dear.  Yes, the Palm Profile is supposed to be backed up once every 24 hours or so.  It should have stored all your contacts and made them available on your replacement phone.  I wish I could help you, but I don't know of any way you can get access to the data stored on your Palm Profile.  Really, HP/Palm should give all users access to their Palm Profile data, it's ridiculous that it's otherwise.

  • Lost contacts and calendar when restoring palm profile on replacement Pre

After nearly 90 days from launch date, and totally loving my Pre, I took it into the Sprint store to show them what looks like screen separation inside the screen.  Sprint deemed it reasonable to replace the phone, and gave me a refurbished Pre.  Not keen on that, but as long as it is the same warranty, I guess that is OK.  All is well with my new Pre with one huge exception.  While I had backed up pictures and music to my computer, I was relying on the "cloud" to back up contacts and calendar.  Bad assumption.  After I signed into my Palm profile with the new Pre, I got my apps back, but no contacts or calendar.  After hours on the phone with multiple Sprint and Palm support people and several partial resets, I am now on a list to get a call-back from a Palm engineer.  The kicker is that it could be up to two weeks before I get my call-back, and I am guessing if I miss that call, I'll have to wait another two weeks.  I live and die by the calendar I kept on my Pre, so I am fried now.  This is low class and low quality customer support.  Anyone with a similar experience?  Similar problem?  Suggestions on approaches to take to get Palm's attention to get this fixed?  Thanks.

I too found out the hard way that not all contacts get backed up to your Palm Profile.  When I purchased my first palm pre back in June, I imported all of my contacts using pocketmirror.  I assumed that since they're now on the pre, they'd be automagically backed up to my Palm Profile.  Not true!  I recieved a replacement palm pre after my first one started developing small cracks on the edge of the screen plastic.  BTW, these cracks were not due to abuse, but apparently cheap material.  Additionally, the refurbished pre they sent me has a bad "oreo" effect and is very sloppy, but that's a story for another time (hint: google "palm pre oreo").  After activating the refurbished pre, I found that none of my important contacts were pulled down from my Palm Profile.  At this point I contacted sprint support and spent over 5 hours of tech support hell being transferred between sprint and palm multiple times.  I was so far beyond frustration and fury, I was ready to physically assault someone...  After these 5 hours, I was no closer to salvaging my contacts from my old palm pre.  Sprint reactivated the old one, but every time it booted up it would only give me two options; to "Just restart" or "Erase all data."  Pressing "Just restart" would reboot the phone and 3 minutes later would show the exact same screen with the same useless options.  Obviously, erasing all data was not what I wanted to accomplish.  Ultimately, Palm support told me there was no way to recover anything off the old phone and argued with me telling me that the contacts I wanted were not stored physically inside the flash memory in the old phone.  This was purely incorrect as I was finally able to hack a way into my old pre and move the contacts that only existed in the contacts application (not my Palm Profile) over to my replacement pre (this involved some linux skills and completely unsupported procedures, but it worked).  It was obvious that the Palm support tech was either ill informed or ill equipped to assist me in any way.
For anyone that may end up in the same position, I had to bypass the broken activation screen that I was stuck at on my old pre using details here:
    http://www.webos-internals.org/wiki/Patch_webOS_Bypassing_Activation
I was then able to gain access to the filesystem itself and copy everything out of /var (the really important file is PalmDatabase.db3 which holds all of your contacts, calendar, synergy links, IM/SMS threads, etc.):
    http://www.webos-internals.org/wiki/Important_Personal_Data_Locations
At any rate, I hope this helps someone who ends up in a similar situation.  The solution is far from elegant, but provided you have or know someone who has some linux experience, it's possible to migrate almost everything from one pre to another.  As for me, I'm THOROUGHLY DISAPPOINTED with the hardware quality of the pre and the lack of options available to backup/migrate data on a pre (the Palm Profile cloud has failed me here).  I may soon drop this headache and follow the rest of my linux friends by moving to an android device.

  • How to force a restore of contacts and calendar events from Palm Profile? (and memos and tasks!)

Yesterday I had to do a partial erase restart of my beloved Palm Pre.  In the past I have had to do full data restorations, and have had no problems at all.  This time, however, my Pre did not recover the dozens of contacts saved in my Palm Profile, nor did it recover any of the Palm Profile calendar events (and all my memos are gone, as well as tasks).  I've tried using the "synch" button in the contacts preferences dialog box, but it did nothing.  Does anyone know if it is possible to "force" a full recovery of your data from the Palm Profile backup, or if there is a way to access that data online somehow?  Much of my contact data I have successfully migrated through seven previous Palm PDAs and phones...it would be too painfully ironic if I've now lost all of that data just because I bought a Palm Pre and trusted the Profile backup system...

  • Palm Profile-contacts not loading

So I had to get a new Pre today (for the second time in a year) and i logged into my palm profile and all my apps loaded but only one contact loaded (the one contact i memorize-my husband). I have logged onto "my palm profile" here on the website and my current phone is set as primary activated phone, i have gone to the "backup" link and clicked on palm profile, typed in my password and my contacts still arent loading into my phone. does anyone know another way to retrieve my contacts??
Post relates to: Pre p100eww (Sprint)

    Hello and welcome to the forums;
I first apologize for the current issue you are seeing where your contacts did not load, and for needing a replacement. Did you have an online storage account, such as Google or Yahoo? If so, try removing and re-adding that account to get your contacts to reappear.
If you didn't have an online account, I recommend contacting Palm phone tech support, we have methods to re-transfer your information to your replacement device.
    Hope this helps,

  • How to sync contacts from Palm profile to online account.

I got my palm pre last week and the store transfered my contacts from my old phone to my palm pre. When I go to edit a contact, it shows their default account is to my palm pre and therefore their info's not syncing with my gmail account. When I enter new contacts, they default to google and sync with my gmail account.
Does anybody know how to change my existing contacts default account so they'll sync with google?
    Thanks

    hi,
What i know is that palm profile info cant be extracted to a computer. Your best option is to get your old phone and sync it to your computer.

  • ...my Palm Profile and my aging Pre--broken

1...howdy. I'm a bit desperate...only a bit. This morning I slid my 2.5 year-old unmodified Sprint Pre off of its Touchstone and discovered pure strangeness-- *no call history *no chat history *no contacts *unable to send or receive email *account information lost ...I can make calls and I can visit websites and play music and watch videos and take pictures. But anything that appears to involve the cloud and/or my Palm Profile doesn't eem to work at all. We are five webOS-device family...still love the platform. Ideas?
Post relates to: Pre p100eww (Sprint)

Actually, that doesn't necessarily work. There are some pretty severe problems with the reliability of Palm Profile backup and server reliability. I've been through 3 palm phones (Pre +, 2x Pre 2) and my data has been lost three times. Lost in the sense of the server reporting different backup dates and snapshots from what is restored to the phone and incomplete data crosslinked between snapshots.
I've been trying to get tech support to help and essentially they are refusing  to either resolve or investigate the problem and insist that I have to pay $14.95 charge for 'past 90 days' support to repeat the refusal.
The last time I paid the charge, I was told, in error, there was no way to retrieve the data because I had saved over it with new information. Yet this time I'm told there are historical 'snapshots' available but that the data is at 0k due to user error--their polite way of calling me a liar.
I would really like to get this issue resolved and would appreciate some assistance. After multiple online chats (I have session transcripts) and several phone calls (one conferenced with verizon tech support as witness), L3 tech support has refused to respond to the escalated case - despite promises for 24-48 hour turnaround, it's been 9 days.

  • How do I remove an account from synergy, palm profile, everywhere

I have reported this to Palm support, but I'm hoping someone else has seen this and knows the answer (Hardbeatz, this should be easy for you).
I let someone else log in to their facebook account on my Pre+. It instantly put all of her contacts into my contacts list. Not what I wanted. So, I deleted that account in the Facebook app, in the address book app, and everywhere else I could find a reference to it.  However, when I "synch" my Palm profile, that e-mail address continues to show up, and returns the error that it is using an invalid password (thank goodness it didn't remember it". So every time I sych my profile, I get that error.
Coincidentally, I got a replacement Pre+ a few days later. So, I activated the phone and it continues to show that e-mail address when I go through the "first run" process. I've run OS Doctor, twice. I've done the reset/full erase, twice.
Every time I "synch" my contacts with my Palm Profile, I get that "incorrect password" for the other person's facebook account. Really? Where is that little bit of info hiding?
It isn't on my palm profile page, not in my facebook client, not in my address book....
I spent a couple of hours chatting with a VERY knowledgable person at Palm support. He opened a ticket because he couldn't solve it.
    This question was solved.

Try also checking Calendar and Photos and see if the Facebook account is there also. Most likely the account has not been fully removed. For Facebook, it shows up in Contacts, Calendar, and Photos, as well as the app if installed.

I have lost contacts, facetime and utilites on my new iphone 4s. How do I get them back on?

Were all of the Firefox files copied to the new system?
Type '''about:support''' in the address bar and press enter.
Under the page logo on the left side you will see '''Application Basics.'''
Under this find '''Profile Folder.''' To it’s right press the button
'''Show Folder.''' This will open your file browser to the current
    Firefox profile. Now '''Close Firefox.'''
Enter the '''bookmarkbackups''' folder. This is where Firefox makes backups
of your bookmarks. Look for the '''jsonlz4''' file you want to restore
(check the time / date / size). Right click on that file and select '''Copy.'''
Now go back to the profile folder where you started. Rename the file
'''places.sqlite''' by adding '''.old''' to it. Now right click in the folder
and select '''Paste.''' The file you just pasted here, rename it to
'''places.sqlite.''' After you are done, restart Firefox.

  • Palm Profile Syncing Problem

I am hopng that someone much smarter than  can help me wih a problem I am having.  I had to switch my pre because of a charging problem.  When I got the new phone I logged onto my Palm Profile and it downloaded into the phone.  The problems started there as all the names of my contacts downloaded, but no phone numbers.  In addition only about a third of the applications I had downloaded.  Any idea why this happened or more importantly how to fix it??
Thanks in advance for any help!

  • Palm Profile down?

I've read on the Precentral forums where Palm Profile is down and people cannot activate their phones. Support rep HardBeatZ confirmed this in the forums. I have a replacement Pre due to arrive tomorrow and wanted to know if this issue will be fixed by then. I'm just posting here because it's the official palm support forums and figured I would get an answer here. I'm on Sprint, by the way. Thanks!

My Palm profile is "connected" on my phone but it doesn't show any of my contacts/memos, etc. I'm signed in under the backup app, but under contacts/preferences & accounts, my Palm Profile doesn't list my name within "accounts". Does anyone know how to reset this or why my phone would have done this to begin with? I'm missing about half of my contacts (outside of gmail/facebook) and all of my memos.

  • Palm Profile cannot sign in and cant create new palm profile!

    Hello,
I am looking for help with my company Pre 2 EU Unlock Phone.
I am an HP Employee and i got my Pre 2 months ago, then i dont have any issue to create my palm profile - [email protected]
Few days ago I wipe my phone coz it was very slow and when i try to sign in i get an error - Sign In Failed.
Of course i check the site and everything looks fine. I delete the device under my profile coz i thought that cause any issue. And try to log on again - unsuccessfully
Then i try to create new profile and again nothing happen
I go to live chat and i have 3hours chat with support - again no success(Chat session ID:99825861). We try everything possible but its not working..
Ofcourse web chat rep try to explain me that the root cause is in my carrier which is not true because my card have 3G and its working perfectly.
Because when i type wrong password it said me password is wrong and i click on forgot password i select the secret  question and change the password via the phone - which is a clear proof that Internet 3G is working!
Then i decide to downgrade to 2.0 - again cant login and cant create new profile, try with 2.01 again no success.
Now back on 2.1 with #*DEVMODE# everything is working i have signal and i can use the phone but i dont have app catalog and cant install apps because there is no Palm profile on the phone.
I try SDK tool and to  find what is the app which start profile creation card  with palm-launch but without success.
    So i have few Question
    - Do we(you) have a problem with WebOSProfile Services ?
    - why i cant create new or login to my existent profile ?
    - in DEVMODE how i can create palm profile (is that possible) and if it is how to do it ?
    - what is the HP internal group which support this services and how i can contact you internaly ?

What do you mean by "upgrade?"  If you've installed some software version that isn't supported for your device, then you may have to use the WebOS Doctor to go back to a supported version.
If you've "upgraded" to a supported version, then this problem will require you call Palm/HP's support to find out why you can't sign into your profile.

If you go into the individual contact and tap on the picture (or the person icon where a picture would go) then it will show you which account it's filed in (or multiple accounts if they've been "linked". Unfortunately, I believe 'that's the only way ... I don't see any way to sort or hide contacts based on account or see the account in the list of contacts.
