Palm rejection feature on ideatab S2110 ?

Hi,
I just recently ordered a Lenovo S2110 ideatab.  I intend to use this tablet for serious note-taking.
I am a graduate student, and need to archive all my notes for future reference, and my intention is to completely replace paper-notes.  I plan to carry this to all my classes, and use a stylus for taking notes.
Having said that, I would like to know if there is "Active palm rejection" hardware built into the Lenovo Ideatab S2110.    I know that some apps and a few styluses incorporate the palm rejection feature (to a certain extent), but I wanted to know if the tablet hardware itself has active digitizer palm rejection  (like the thinkpad tabler corporate tabs)...
I am asking this because my daily lecture notes will consist of engineering drawings, and lots of text, that I just definitely need a tablet with palm rejection technology.  Any inputs/help is highly appreciated.

Since this does not have a Stylus pen, it would not have palm rejection.
A cheap pen from the store is the same as your finger, if it had rejection you would not be able to write.
Only tablets like the TPT and Note have built in Stylus's with palm rejection.
Only way to write without issues is to buy/use a glove. Smudge Guards are nice. Look them up. I can't wait to order one. But for now I just cut an old cotton $2 gloves.

  • Palm Rejection Issue on s10-3t?

    Hi all,
I'm new to here b/c I am interested in an s10-3t. The only thing that's bothering me now is the palm rejection issue.
It is a multitouch screen, and didn't come with any stylus. If I use it for inking/writing only, I need to keep my hands up in the air...that's annoying...
Is there a proper solution to this? I saw the posts about using different stylus but they don't seem to address the palm protection issue...
    Thanks!

I have the same issue. A long crack across the touch panel and not the lcd beneath it. I asked the greek lenovo tech support if it is possible to replace the touch panel and am waiting for their answer and a quote for a price. I will post their answer here.

  • IdeaTab s2110 and external hard drive?

Does the IdeaTab s2110 have enough power to connect and use an external hard drive via USB? At Best Buy I was viewing the similar Asus Transformer and was told that it did not have enough power to connect to an external hard drive successfully, I am hoping the lenovo does so I can purchase it?

Sorry, can't answer that as my order keeps getting delayed...
I'm not entirely sure but does the transformer have a battery in the dock? I think it still uses the output from the tablet whereas the s2110 might provide more connection options since its dock does have its own battery pack and could supply more power to a device.

  • [Helix Gen2] Palm rejection issues

Trying out the Helix 2 right now. Shocked to find palm rejection nonexistent while writing in the standard input panel with stylus. Windows move around the screen, palm writes garbage characters, etc. Plus, no way to avoid constantly pushing home button under screen center with palm while entering text, interrupting everything. A total deal breaker. Is this common, or just my machine? Need to know within return period. (And this was my favorite of all machines! Bummer!) Wacom digitizer avoids this on other machines like Surface Pro, but not yours. Why?

If your pen is close enough to see the hover point appear, you shouldn't be able to move anything with touch. That's an easy test. If that works like it should, maybe your hover distance is small. How close do you need to get to see the cursor track the pen? I think it should be at least half an inch. If that also works, then maybe you need to adjust your writing style, putting the pen closer to the screen before laying your hand down.

  • Rejected feature request - Tabbed Interface

    Hello,
first: I accept the decision to reject a feature request.
But: is there a special reason to do so, since Tabbed Interface is among the top weighted requests.
At the moment I have >50 connections because I have to support and develop more than one application each with production and at least 3 test DBs. Each connection has 20 nodes for types (tables, views...) each type has x nodes for objects. Thats a lot of scrolling to do. Closing the nodes after selecting an object is not really helpful, because then you have to open them again to select another.
If not tabbed, perhaps splitting the connections is possible: one frame for the connections and below a second frame for the content of the selected connection.

For me this is definitely in my Top-5 of requests. Shame it's rejected...
I imagine the change would take so much time and effort it's undoable right now... but after a few years when sqldev is more mature?
It probably would imply changing the framework also, which is competence of the JDeveloper team.
I see the reasons for postponing, but plainly rejecting?
Hoping on a future revision of the request,
    K.

  • Palm rejection makes playing games impossible. Any way to disable?

    Hello!
It appears that the touchpad gets disabled when any keyboard key gets pressed on the u300S. This makes it impossible to play lots of games where you need to use the two input devices together.
I checked all settings and was not able to find any option anywhere to turn off this feature. What did I miss?
    Many thanks in advance!

    I have found it myself.
Just in case anyone has the same problem:
Touchpad control panel, Pointing / sensitivity / PalmCheck -> set to minimum and it works fine.

  • Please add Jot Touch 4 support with Palm Rejection

I've used it with other enabled apps and it is awesome.  Would love to use it with your app instead.
    Thanks!

Yes this would be awsome. Please do not make us look at other apps to do this.

  • Find feature - how to remove applications

I really don't want the Palm Find feature (magnifying glass) on my Verizon Centro to give me the option, the several options, of Searching Google.  How do I turn that off?
    Post relates to: Centro (Verizon)

There is really no way to disable or configure this feature. It is built into the rom software.

  • New security required for managing rejections in UAR?

I have been told by someone at SAP about several new authobjs required for SP06 UAR "reject" features.   Objects include:
       ManageRejectionsGenerateAction
       ViewManageRejectionReasons
       ManageRejectionsCancelGenerationAction
       ViewRejectUsers
       ViewManageRejections
       ViewReject
I'd like to find out more about these to determine if all these are needed by reviewers OR security administrators OR both.   Anyone know where these are documented?
    TIA,
    hb

    Wild solution...
    1) Create a New User ID, which will be used for Just resetting the password based on the security question. This ID will have a password which everybody will know.
This ID will have only few authorizations.
    2) Create a Custom Program which will take the User ID and the Question. Also some way of storing the Answer in some table (encrypted).
Based on the ID, the question of the user will be displayed. Based on the Input by the user, the answer will be checked.
    3) If the answer is correct, reset the password and send a mail to the user id of the user. (Solution for resetting the password needs some analysis) The custom table will store user id, question, answer and the email id to which the email has to be sent.
    Reward Points if useful.

  • [SOLVED] Asus "Palm-proof" Technology?

So I'm scoping out some laptops, and I've narrowed it down to a Toshiba Satellite and an Asus A53.  The Satellite seems to have slightly better hardware, but I'm fascinated by this Asus claim of "palm proof technology" on the touchpad, since that's been a major frustration point with my current laptop.
Is this a software thing, or a hardware thing?  I know it's a stupid question to ask, since it wouldn't make much sense at the software level, but if I want to run Linux on this computer, I'd rather not get it expecting some feature to work that only works due to some Windows bloatware.  Anyone who's used a laptop with this kind of "palm proof" feature got any remarks?

So it does.  Not sure how I missed that.  Thanks for the tip.

  • Ideas Update available now

    Adobe Ideas 2.7 is here!
Our new update includes several user-requested features to the free iOS application that lets anyone create freeform vector illustrations on their iPad, iPhone or iPod Touch.
    Here’s what’s new:
Stylus Support – Ideas now includes pressure sensitive stylus support for Ten One Design’s Pogo Connect Bluetooth Pen, which enables users to be more expressive with their drawing strokes and achieve creative effects more naturally. It also allows for palm rejection so that users can draw while resting their palm on the iPad without interference. In addition, users cancontrol their brushes, colors, opacity and size by simply tapping the button on the pen. Pogo Connect works with the iPad 3, 4 and iPad Mini.
Stroke Smoothing – Based on community feedback, designers can now choose their preference on what line smoothing method works best for them. Users can choose to smooth the drawing stroke while drawing for increased accuracy, or after to achieve smoother curves.
Share to other applications – Users can also share designs to other applications such as Behance and Photoshop Touch.
We can’t wait to see what you create next!

That's correct. The iPad has no built in mechanism for pressure sensitivity and requires an Bluetooth-connected pressure sensitive pen such as the Pogo Connect to capture pressure information.

  • Restoring "Middle Button Click" with the newest Windows UltraNav drivers (X220)

    Hi Everyone,
I see that some changes were made to the TrackPoint in the newest UltraNav drivers package -- namely, there are no more customized options for stick scrolling with the TrackPoint. Is there any way to reset the middle button to perform a middle click rather than stick scrolling?
I see that the Registry options are in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Synaptics, but there are so many options! Is there anyone out there who can help me with this?
    Thanks in advance!
Side note: I considered the older UltraNav driver, but that doesn't have the Windows 8 charm bar feature. I also considered the latest driver from the Synaptics website, but it doesn't have the "prioritize for trackpoint" option and I feel that the palm rejection is inferior to that provided by the Lenovo one.
Side note #2: My main reason for requesting this is to improve the scrolling experience with my ThinkPad. I've been able to optimize my touchpad scrolling with a modified version of TwoFingerScroll, and really need to do the same with my trackpoint. For the trackpoint in Windows 7, I liked DragToScroll, which I feel provides more sensitive scrolling than the one in the UltraNav driver in most applications.

    Hi, hendhess
I'm not sure about fixing the issue through the registry, though I did find two threads on this issue that may be able to help you solve the issue. There's this one started by zsero that has some suggestions and the like. There is also this thread which is linked from zsero's. According to some, if every former Synaptics driver is removed and then the new one is installed, the middle-click functionality is restored, though this isn't universal.
    Hope it helps,
    Adam

  • Wrist protection implementation

    Hi.
I justhink bought the Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 and I noticed an interesting feature in some of Samsung apps. When you are using the stylus pen to write or draw, it won't be interfreed by the wrist that is over the screen. I also just bought the ps touch and I think it would be useful to have a feature like that. Because it is really hard to paint with the S pen withoUT touching the screen with the hand. Imagine you are trying to write something in your notebook, but your Palm is Covered in fresh paint. It would mess the whole paper, wouldn'the it?
I hope it's an easy thing to implement. I'm a programmere myself, but I know nothing about Android and Java.
I loved your app, keep developing it. It's very useful when you are away from home or work.
    Best regards,
    Jean Knapp

I believe the term you're looking for is, "palm rejection." I think there are a handful of apps that do this.
I agree wholeheartedly that PS Touch is very handy when you're out and about.

  • The Future of the ThinkPad 2-in-1

    Hello Lenovo Forums!
My name is Alysia Eve and I am the Worldwide ThinkPad Product Portfolio Marketing Manager. You will start to see our Product Marketing team interacting on the forums, asking for your thoughts and feedback as we work on delivering the most compelling ThinkPad products in the future. We are so excited to interact with our users and fans!
We designed ThinkPad Helix, our breakthrough 2-in-1 detachable, to be the best of both worlds – a powerful and full-featured notebook when you need it and a thin and light tablet for ultimate mobility.
We made significant changes from our first generation, moving to a fanless design with more battery life and accessory options. We continue to evolve with our customers and technology.
As we look to the next generation we want to know what you need in a 2-in-1. What does the next generation Helix look like? What does it need to do to fit your needs? We want to hear from you!

My use seems to differ from most comments here in that I am a full time animator and artist as well as a writer and I bought the Helix with the idea to untether me from the desk and be able to draw wherever I wanted as well as write scripts and design and develop television shows. In theory the Helix seemed like it was a good idea for my purposes but some of the designs marred that ability. For one the fact that the Helix literally got hot enough to fry an egg on made it hard to hold for any amount of time without wearing an oven mitt.Strike One for a tablet you're supposed to hold. Second, when you disconnect the keyboard it stops working. Maybe that sounds silly, to others but give me a moment to explain. If I want to draw on the tablet, I need to disconnect it from the keyoard but still need the keyboard for programs like Photoshop and Flash as well as Illustrator, Toonboom Storyboard Pro and especially Maya, all of which run just fine on the Helix and was the reason I purchased it.However ALL of these programs are useless without a keyboard and by killing it when it's not attached you destroy the very purpose of using it for me because I now have to carry a USB keyboard when a prefectly good one is sitting right besiode it gathering dust. Especially cosidering it's more than feasable.Strike 2.   The first two issues were possible to deal with really if not annoying. The real reason I ultimately sold it was due to the HORRIBLE performance of the trackpad. It rendered the machine unusable in my opinion. I don't really see why it had to have no buttons on or why it rocked both at the top and the bottom making it near impossible to tell without looking where you were on the trackpad.Strike 3. I also hated the tiny chiclet pen which while it seems like you solved the issue by including a larger pen, the digitzier made the pen wriitng and drawing shaky which again ruined it for me. Thatr was somewhat alleviated by the ability to buy another pen that wasn't the size of a toothpick but it still wasn't perfect. I mean who designs these things? All you have to do is look at the thousands of years of writing impliments to realise no one ever wants to draw with a toothpick.Strike 3.5 ( becasue that was fixable with a third party pen)  And for God sake whoever makes these things allow us to easily TURN OFF THE STUPID TOUCH. I'm sure you might 'think' that your palm rejection wroks but I assure it sucks and it needs to be turned off to draw with your tablet in any way. No one wants to relearn the way they draw by placing your palm down before you draw to invloke the rejection. It's really not that big of a deal. Allow us to turn the **bleep** thing off without going into the device manager.Strike 4.  I also did not like the larger resolution since it made all the toolbar icons on programs tiny enough to have to squint to see them. It's really a shame because I wanted to like the Helix and the i7 chewed up programs like bubble gum. In theory, think it's a perfect concept;  but the implimentation was lacking and yet it's honestly still the best chocie on the market. Trust me I've searched high and low fo rwhat I need and the Helix was the only one close. truthfully all the imtems I listed are fixable if you just used your compnters in a real world environment and you clearly do not. . I honestly think Lenovo's primary problem is that those who make these computers, don't really use them in a real world setting because most of these issues are instantly obvious if you do. Here's to the Helix 3, because I won't be buying the Helix 2.
