Palm Smartphone Help

I'm hoping that someone can help me with this problem.  My son connected an xbox headset to his Palm smartphone the other day, which didn't work (by the way).  However, a slight side effect to this action is that he can no long talk nor hear anyone on his phone.  How do I correct this problem?
Thanks for any help you can offer.

  • Possible convert to Blackberry from Palm - please help with outlook questions

I'm debating switching from a Palm Treo 800 (battery life is awful) to Blackberry Curve. I chose the Treo because of active sync with my work exchange server and ability to open Office documents.
Currently, I sync my outlook mail, tasks & calendar with work, and my contacts & notes with my home computer. So if i follow your instructions for using BIS instead of BES (my employer only provides BES service for a carrier which is not mine ...), will I be able to sync manually with a cable to my work computer for  calendar & tasks and then to my home computer for contacts & notes?
I have to decide THIS WEEK if I'm going to switch from Palm to Blackberry, so please hurry! The blackberry seems like it's a lot more fun than the Palm, and your support is much more extensive and user-friendly!

Ok, so if both machines are Outlook based, I would not see a problem,
You would need  2 DM programs one at work and one at home.
For work you can specify sync for tasks and calendar, for home sync contacts and notes.
Both calendars would have to be the Outlook calendar as default.
You can the have the synced BB and would have the ability to backup on both machines, or better yet, back up on one machine to eliminate confusion. In case of failure, you have a backup of ALL data.
You wouldn't have to convert anything because Outlook is fully compatible with the Desktop Manager.
    I don't see a problem.
    Thanks

    Post relates to: Centro (Sprint)

You are asking a LOT of Basic Questions that can be answered by reading the User Guide that is included with every Palm on the installation disk.
It can also be read by going to Palm.com and the suport page for your device.
You add programs with Palm Desktop and the Hotsync application.
Ad-hoc refers to Wifi.  Not possible.
    Wifi: not possible.

The newest Palm Desktop (6.2.2) will work with your older device, but not by itself.  You also have to download and install the free utility called PalmHotsyncSetup from www.pimlicosoftware.com.

  • Kyocera 6035 Palm Smartphone finally died - need advise

Yeah, my friends are loving it - after 7 years my reliable Kyocera 6035 Smartphone (Sprint) appears to have finally died - or at least the battery has (doesn't charge even when plugged into an electrical outlet or the car).    This is forcing me to look at the newer phones, and as my friends tease me - join the 21st century in phones!
I'm looking at the Palm Centro (Sprint) and am wondering if I will somehow be able to transfer all of my contacts/memos/calendar, etc., that are stored on my desktop onto a new Palm phone?  When I was still able to sync to my pc, the data was syncing to my Outlook, not the Kyocera Palm software that came with my phone (which sits empty on my pc desktop).  The computer runs Windows XP Pro (I have Vista on a laptop as well, which is where I most likely will sync the new phone I purchase).  My HotSync Manager is version 3.1.0.
I wonder if I'm too many years behind on Palm versions to be able to sync what's stored on my pc to a new Palm phone and therefore, may have to start over from scratch?  What do you think - is this girl dreaming??   Any advise is appreciated to this Palm forum newbie!
By the way - I haven't purchased the phone yet - so any advise on the various Centros or other Palm phones is appreciated since I'm jumping almost a decade, I'm sure a few of you have some strong opinions on the developments I've missed out on.  Thanks!

Hey Jeffro - Yes, both the Sprint representative and her supervisor informed me that they only sell SmartPhones with Internet packages.  I advised the supervisore that nowhere on the website did I see such a disclaimer - it only mentions that's how you get the rebate and I told him I was willing to forego a rebate.  I told him if they say something on another screen once you're already in the buying screen then that is very deceptive - it should be right on the screen where the image of the phone appears!
I wanted the phone for the Palm software and they shouldn't care whether or not I take advantage of all its connectivity features - what do they care - other than it gives them an opportunity to increase their profits when they force me on a higher-end monthly plan!  He said he was making an "exception" and would disable those features on my phone.  My buddy sells phone plans through ACN (network marketing company) and he overheard my conversation because I made the call from work.  He said he was shocked the guy made an exception for me because in his company it's the same policy:  Selling a Smartphone requires selling an Internet phone plan - no ands, ifs or buts about it.  He said I probably got him to waive the rule because I've been a long time Sprint customer and I continued to argue my point with a supervisor.
Actually, I quoted a Sprint's brochure I had to the guy - stating that according to their VP of Base Customer Management, Jeff Hallock - he's "determined to give me what I want now" - and I wanted the Centro with no Internet expensive package - just a basic phone plan.  Would I use the Internet/email/TV features if they were given to me?  Sure!  But do I need them?  No.  These days with economy being what it is and people's finances being challenged, we need to really question what's a "nice to have" versus a "must have".  If I had my own business or traveled constantly, I could totally see needing everything at my fingertips (and could probably write off the expense).  But having a pc at home, a laptop with WiFi and a pc at work, why would I need computer access on my phone?  They quoted me $65 per month for the plan (before fees/taxes) - I can think of other things I "need" to spend the $30 I'll be saving monthly by just having a phone plan.
Yeah, it pissed me off to say the least (as I'm sure you can tell!)  This is why our country is in the situation it is - big corporations trying to sell people things they don't necessarily need or can afford.  Just look at what the mortgage companies did to folks trying to buy their dream homes - and then people lose their jobs and wonder why they can't make ends meet.  I'm blessed - I have a good job in the software side of the healthcare industry and we're growing and my house has a low fixed rate mortgage - but that's based on choices I made and it doesn't mean I'm not aware of what's going on around me and how things could be very different.  I just realize it's important to be careful how I spend my money and to keep an eye on companies trying to make big profits (because it looks like we'll just be bailing them out later)
Sorry - I guess I needed to vent how frustrated I was about the situation.  Sprint was trying to get between me and my world of Palm!!!
     Peace and happy holidays!

  • Palm TX help

Hi, I'm new to Palm, I just recently bought a Palm TX. I love it. However I have a problem with it. Everytime I opened up a program for example I opened a music folder and when I want to exit out that window I had to press on the HOME button because I can't find the exit or an X key anywhere to exit out the program. Can you guys help me please.
    Post relates to: Palm TX

There is normally no "X" button in PalmOS.  You're thinking along the lines of Windows or Windows Mobile OS.
Some programs will have an "Exit" option in their menus, but it's the same as tapping the Home button.
PalmOS is not a true multi-tasking operating system.  When you tap Home, it stops the program where you left it, and will clear out the RAM being used by it.
    What you're doing is correct.

  • Palm VIIx HELP

I have a need to retrieve some critical information from my PalmVIIx and it appears that the batterys have died and the unit has reverted to its initial set up mode.  Is there any way to recover my date & address book information?
    Post relates to: Palm VIIx

Unless you have the information saved on your computer (you have been Hotsyncing regularly as recommended by Palm, correct?) then it is gone.  The memory structure of your device is Volatile RAM.  It needs electricity to retain the information.  When gone, you are left with nothing but zeros...

  • Vista, Access, and Palm ZZ--help!!

Hello.  I have had my palm for almost 3 years.  Just recently I had a blob on my calendar.  To fix that I had to download Access, since I have Windows Vista.  It is working fine now, but how do I put photos on my palm?  I used Splash Photo before, but now have media on Access.  I have the photos on the Palm Desktop, but when I try to move them to install it says it is not supported.  Is the install tool not compatible with Vista? It was my understanding that that is what Access is for.  Please help me!!

    View Solution.

You need to install the spash photo on the PC so the conduits in the Hotsync manager and be updated to sync photos. You will need your Z22 CD.
Put the CD in. It should try to install if it does just cancel it if not don't worry less for you to do.
Next you want to go into your computer. From there right click on the CD ROM drive and either click open or explore.
    Then select English.
    Then Photos.
    Then double click on splashphoto.exe.
then you should be able to sync your photos.

The CD that came with these handhelds does not have a 64-bit driver. Neither does Palm Desktop 6.2.2. But the company that took over PalmOS did make one.
Read this thread for information on installing the Palm Desktop 64-bit drivers.
Note: these are 3rd party drivers and not supported by HP.

  • New PC Old Palm need help

I just got a new laptop with vista and I have a palm m500 hand held.  from what i can see the software for the m500 is not compatible with Vista.  Is there any advise for this not so computer savy girl?
    thanks
    Post relates to: Palm m500

You can try the Palm DT 4.1.4e, this may work, but you could have problems with it in Vista. It just depends on your hardware and configuration of Vista. Officially the last version of the Palm DT that is compatible with the M500 is 4.1.4, and this is not compatible with Vista. If this works it will only sync the PIM (contacts, datebook, etc) data.

  • Palm m100 help

    Dear Sirs,
I have one old Palm m100 and I had to reset due to problems and I also had problems with my computer.
I used Win98 with the previous Palm installation and now I'm using with Xp version
I copied the Palm directory and I'm trying to recover my data using the backup (Palm directory)
I've got to recover address and memos, but I could not recover datebook.
I found the datebook.dat file and copied to the new installation directory (C:\Palm\user\datebook) replacing the new datebook.dat file.
But it does not work! Does anyone has any idea how to solve it? There are some important data that I would like to recover.
I've tried to run the old Palm Desktop version but it does not run on Xp.
    Thank you
    Andre

See if you can find the datebook.bak from the old PC. Rename it to datebook.dat and replace the ones in the user folder. See if that displays.

  • I can't sync from my laptop to the Palm TX-Help

The contact info from my laptop won't sync with the Palm tx
    Post relates to: Palm TX

I would try resetting the PIM Conduit. To do this, on your PC, go to Start > Programs > Palm > PIM Conduit Sync.. Click sync to Palm Desktop.
After that go back to Start > Programs > Palm > PIM Conduit Sync > and click on Outlook this time.
Try syncing and let me know what happens. I have a feeling that either something isn't right in where the data is being told to go or right now Palm Desktop is your default handler. Either way, try this and let me know if it resolves your issue or not.
