Palm T/X password

I am trying to hotsync an older T/X on a new computer.  I get a message asking for the password for the PDA.  How do I find this?
Post relates to: Palm TX

The TX has a "hint" option.  However, if no hint was entered when the password/PIN was created, no hint option will be displayed.  I'm looking at a TX I loaned to my stepson right now, and see the Hint option displayed.  I will erase this device with a Hard Reset to return it to the "out of the box" condition since he no longer needs it after returning from the Navy on a submarine.
I retain all my passwords in encrypted password software (like SplashID for PalmOS, or more recently JVault for webOS).
I have literally hundreds of passwords and logins saved this way, and they all get copied to all my electronic devices to be on hand whenever I need them!  (I currently use a Pre3 and a TouchPad).  I have made it my habit to immediately enter any newly created logins and passwords into this software before they can be forgotten.  The software itself is password-protected and encrypted to block any hacker attempts.  They both have PC versions that sync to my devices.
I'm soon heading for my sixth decade on this Earth, and rely more and more on this type of software to remember all the numbers required for our daily existence!
New devices work the same way - some will actually erase sensitive information if the password has been entered incorrectly too many times!

It would be best if you could guess what password you might have set on the palmpilot. If you can't, then (on my PalmOS 5.2.1 PDA) I can tap "security" on the home screen, then tap the "Assigned" box, & finally do the "Delete a password" procedure. You will lose whatever data is password protected.
    Good luck

  • Open Letter to Palm Regarding the Palm Treo 755p

    Dear Palm,
As a devoted Palm user for the past 15+ years, I have been praising the versatility, convenience and user friendly Palm hardware/software to my colleagues and family for as many years. As a result many have purchased Palm products and have come to rely upon them as much as I do.
Recently I finally gave in and took the leap to consolidate my multiple media devices (laptop: email, phone: calls, Palm TX:notes, passwords, video, books, spreadsheets, contacts, calendar, etc.) into one unit with the Palm Treo 755p. I HAVE NEVER BEEN SO DISAPOINTED IN A PALM PRODUCT! After transferring all of my info from my TX to my 755p, and activating the phone itself, I began the process of setting up my VersaMail account to enable me to sync my work email through the Exchange ActiveSync program. In typical Palm fashion, it was fairly easy to set up once I had obtained the necessary info from my IT department and I was soon getting my email in the Palm of my hand (pun intended). All was well! Or so it seemed...
Shortly after getting everything set up, I contacted my Dr. to set up an appointment later this month, and, in typical fashion, I opened my Palm Desktop Manager to update my calendar with the appointment so I could sync it up with my Palm during the next HotSync. After performing the HotSync, I realized that not only did the appointment NOT transfer from the Palm Desktop, ALL of my personal contacts and calendar events had been forced into my work email account!! I immediately became alarmed because I do not want my personal life (i.e. Dr. appointments, church activities, etc.) advertised to those whom I have granted rights to work on my work email account when requested to do so. I immediately sought out help from the Palm.com help forums and found that MANY people were experiencing the same problem. I performed all of the tricks that I could find (erasing everything, reloading software, hard resets, etc.) but no luck; I could not keep my personal information (contacts & calendar) in Palm Desktop and use my VersaMail for just that - MAIL. After researching further, I found that when using either the Exchange ActiveSync setup or the GetGood program, that the user is forced to surrender all options related to how the calendar and contacts are handled - DESPITE the options built into the program that indicate otherwise. I have since removed all email synchronization accounts from my 755p and have been attempting to re-establish the ability to successfully HotSync my calendar and contact information with the Palm Desktop Manager. I am also working with my IT department to see about the possibility of establishing a POP3 account for my work email - which in my opinion is a completely inferior option; in addition to being most likely unavailable despite the fact that many in the company of 60,000 employees are now facing the same problem with their own Palm Treo devices
    - I now have a phone/PDA that does not do what it was advertised to do.
    - I have lost my confidence and faith in Palm (this did not come lightly; I have been attempting to work through this issue for the past two weeks in all of my spare time).
    - I am still unable to successfully HotSync my contact/calendar info with the Palm Desktop Manager (despite hard reset on the phone & no associated email accounts on the phone) & it does not indicate why (it does not revert to "do nothing" in the manager as it did previously).
    - I have no way to check my work email account remotely.
    - Unfortunately because of schedule limitations I do not have the time to sit on the phone with Palm Tech Support, I have been completely unsuccessful in launching the technical support chat program, and I have been unable to find any type of email address where I could express my concerns in a more professional manner, rather than airing this over a worldwide forum.
Does anyone have any advice, knowledge, fixes, hacks, etc. that can help? I really don't want to lose the investment (time and financial) I made in this upgrade, and I REALLY do NOT want to move over to the dark side (Blackberry).
Most of all, and scoff/call me old fashioned all you want, I do not want to give up on Palm. I still feel that they are a good company that cares about their customers and provides (for the most part) a quality product and I would prefer to give them the brand loyalty I have for the past years, and hopefully many to come.
This is my first time using this venue to communicate with Palm, I have selected to be notified if there is a reply to this message as I prefer not to leave my personal contact information in this open forum. I am looking forward to hearing from you [Palm] to see what can be done to address my concerns.
    Sincerely,
    Chad B.

    Ridius,
Success! Wow, what an endeavor! I had already tried using the HotSync troubleshooting before I turned to the forums so as I expected, I was unable to find a resolution there. Here's what I did next:
    • Before using the Registry Fix utility, I exported all of my "good" files (memos, contacts, calendar, tasks) from my TX. I then wiped everything from the Treo 755p through another hard reset.
    • Downloaded the Registry Fix utility, erased all existing profiles on my computer, re-downloaded the Palm Desktop Manager v6.2.2 and installed it over all existing Palm software on the computer
    • Performed an initial HotSync and then tested each feature (contacts, memos, calendar, tasks) one at a time with a HotSync in between each one. Success!
    • I then went through and instead of loading the profile from my TX, I obtained the most up to date software versions of the most often used additional programs and loaded each one, one by one & performing a successful HotSync each time before moving on to the next.:
    o MegaLauncher v6.44
o Agendus for Palm OS Standard Edition v12.04
    o Documents To Go v8.002
    o CacheMate v4.1.2
o A new-to-me program called Passwords Plus v1.006 since my old "Secret" program was obsolete and I could not find an updated version.
o MiniTones 0.1b (for Palm OS)- just found this a few days ago and it is the greatest for using MP3's on your SD card for ringers, plus its free!
o I was unable to find an updated version of Big Clock and I refrained from loading the previous versions after reading that it has been known to cause crashes on newer Palm OS. (darn! The price was right; free, and it was an excellent program too!)
So far I have been able to perform successful HotSync’s every time with only one consistent error each time (even before the additional programs were loaded):
"Backed up some files successfully to Treo 755p's Backup folder
    •Duration: 7.6 seconds
    •Failed to backup 1 file(s)
    •PmTraceDatabase
•Protocol Error: Handheld file could not be opened. (4004)
    •SYNCERR_FILE_NOT_OPEN"
    Any ideas here?
I have not yet attempted to do anything with my work computer yet, it will take a while to get the IT department to update Palm Desktop Manager to v6.2.2 on the company servers and I feel this was one of many critical updates leading to the fix that ultimately resolved my problem.
All in all, this experience & working with you has renewed much of my faith in Palm – I am only hoping that I can find similar success with the one issue that started all of this (i.e. upgrade to a all-in-one device, time/financial investment, 2+ weeks of troubleshooting & wasted effort, etc.); the need to keep my personal calendar/contact info OUT of my company email/files, while at the same time having the ability to use the Exchange ActiveSync program to view my work email only. Most likely this will require a lot more finger crossing and outcry from the public. For the sake of myself, the many other users of the Palm Treo 755p within my company of 60,000 and those going through the same issue all over the world, I hope that the wait is not too long.
Most of all, I want to thank you for your assistance, kindness, and dedication to providing exceptional service to me and the thousands of others that you have helped directly & indirectly through this and other threads. Whether or not you are able to help me with resolving the last HotSync issue listed above or not, you have been nothing short of amazing and will have my continued vote of confidence in your abilities. I can only hope that those current leaders within the Palm organization will take the time to review this and so many other threads that you have participated in to see what a quality employee you are, so that your talents can be put to use in leading others to follow in your footsteps.
    Sincerely,
    Chad B.

  • New Palm Profile for Used Palm Pre

    Hi,
I bought a second-hand Palm Pre (Movistar, ES) and now want to establish a new Palm Profile so I can use the phone in Australia (Optus, AU).
How do I set up a new Palm Profile on this phone ?
It is currently running WebOS 1.4
    Thanks,

    Hi,
I wiped the device and started from scratch and couldn't get past the Insert SIM etc screen.
When I restarted the device, it then locked in Seting Language.
I have now gone back to WebOS 1.3.5.2 using a Meta-Doctor hack, and can run the device, use phone etc.
When I ran the First Use App, it asked for my language then did a reboot, and still not Palm Profile.
Is there a Palm website where I can set up a profile, and the use my ESN to get Palm to send the info to my phone ?
I also tried using root-based program to force a profile creation:
    luna-send -n 1 palm://com.palm.accountservices/createNovaAccount {\"password\":\"YOURPASSWORD\",\"email\":\"[email protected]\",\"firstName\":\"YOURFIRSTNAME\",\"lastName\":\"YOURLASTNAME\",\"language\":\"en\",\"country\":\"gb\",\"questionId\":\"2\",\"response\":\"FIRSTCAR\"}
This came back with ACCOUNT_CREATION_ERROR "Could not get account server url"
Any help appreciated, as I want to download proper Palm Apps, as well as the Homebrew Apps.
    Thanks,
    Nick

  • Convert .dba file to .xls or .doc

How can I convert my date book calendar .dba file to either an excel .xls or word .doc file that others can open?
    Thanks,

    Post relates to: Palm V

I think this is just what I've been looking for, but I can't quite get it to work. Please let me ask for a few more details.
    1) I am running Palm Desktop 4.1.4.
    2) Should I export a "Calendar Archive" or "Data Book Archive"?
    3) I am running Windows XP Pro Service Pack 3.
    4) I am using Microsoft Office Excel and Access 2003.
    5) Once I rename my .dba file to .mdb I use Control Panel -> Administrative Tools -> Data Sources (ODBC). I select the System DSN tab. Select Add. From the lengthy list of drivers I select Microsoft Access Driver (*.mdb) version 4.00.6305.00 4/13/2008. Select Finish. Enter a Data Source Name (e.g. palm). Under Database click Select. Choose my .mda file and select OK. Select OK. At this point my new data source and associated .mdb file are listed under System Data Sources.
    6) I start Excel and select Data->Import External Data -> Import Data. A Select Data Source window appears. I select +Connect to New Data Source.odc. This starts the Data Connection Wizard. I select ODBC DSN from the list and click Next. I select my data source (palm) from the list and click Next. A Login window appears. I click the Database button and see that my .mdb file is selected. Back in the Login window the Login name is pre-filled with admin. There is a Password field. Should I enter my Palm Private Records password here or leave it blank? When I select OK I get the error message "Unrecognized database format 'calendar.mdb'."
Any idea where I'm going wrong? I appreciate any help you might offer. Thanks so much!

  • I want to delete password protect on Palm Pre

I had my work e-mail being sent to my Palm Pre and therefore had to add password protection.  I am no longer doing e-mail on my phone and have deleted my e-mail account, but it's still requiring a password in order to use the phone.  I know I didn't have to do this before I added my work e-mail.  How do I get rid of it?

  • Passwords Plus (and Palm Store support issue)

I bought a CD of "Passwords Plus" software by DataViz from the Palm Store.  I've been in contact with them and they acknowledge that I purchased it.  I found an email notification of their sending the CD to me with an expected delivery date the first week of September 2008.  I had the software installed on my laptop and had been using it for several weeks.  Although I don't strictly remember, I think it's safe to say that I installed it from that disk.  It wasn't prompting me to register as if it were a trial version.
My laptop came back from the repair shop recently and it was completely "re-imaged" (to my surprise).  I had made a backup of my laptop on an external Maxtor drive before sending the computer off for repair, and I am also a Carbonite on-line backup customer.
Now, for some reason, I cannot find my "Passwords Plus" CD.  I called the Palm Store because I simply wondered if the Palm Store made downloads of previously purchased products available.  It don't think that was such an outlandish idea, but when I asked Dennis at the Palm Store, he seemed a very terse and intolerant mix of being somehow confused and offended at the whole idea.  He made me feel as though he thought I was a crook or an idiot.
Perhaps the Palm Store doesn't have a download feature--I don't remember--and that's the reason it sounded like an idea from Mars to this guy, but he wasn't very pleasant or reasonable with me.  Maybe he was just having a bad day.  In the end, he said he was sorry.  I forgive him, but does anyone have any ideas of how to get my Password Plus back in functioning mode?  I thought the double backups I did would cover me.
I'm pretty much without passwords and undable to proceed with serveral issues 'til I get this resolved.
Personal Lesson:  Now I know not to put off immediately adding new key information to a written hardcopy file!!
Let me know if you have any ideas...

    Post relates to: Palm TX

Thanks.  That was a very good idea.
But I try not to bog forums down without trying as many options as I can on my own first and I did, in fact, contact DataViz as one of my options.
They say my "Passwords Plus" is not registered with them.  (Lesson:  the Importance of Registering Immediately).  They say that since I didn't purchase it from them directly and it doesn't show up in their database, they have no way of verifying my purchase or allowing me to download a replacement.
Let this be a reminder to ME and a lesson to all that it's a good idea to have a HARDCOPY of CURRENT Serial Numbers, Product Key Codes, Usernames and Passwords on hand at all times, AND to be better organized "librarian" of disks so as to avoid situations like this.  I have an email from Palm indicating they sent the disk to me.  I spoke with Palm Store personnel who indicated that they had a record of my purchase (but couldn't seem to conceive of doing anything other than to give me that information).  It may very well be that unless I can find that disk of mine, or a precious piece of paper with a Registration Code on it, I may just have to buy the software again.  I'd much rather have it than not.
The only possible alternative I can think of might be this: someone might know of a way for me to get the program to open like it used to when I'd click on the desktop shortcut.  All I would have to do would be to enter my password and bingo...there was my complete list of passwords.  It's a great little program.  When I look in my backup drive, I see what looks like all the necessary "Passwords Plus."  Why can't I simply click on the application file and have it open without it asking for the registration code?
Feel free to tell me you don't think there is any answer other than to either find the disk or repurchase.
    Hansen
Thanks to all the interested parties who put their minds to the task of helping others!!
By the way:  Bob at Palm Corporate was awesome.  Through him I discovered that I may be able to sync my Palm Treo with my 64-bit Vista laptop by means of Bluetooth.  We'll see, but today I am enjoying the hope much more than the disappointing dead-end of learning that I couldn't sync at all (because of the 64-bit architecture).

Palm Desktop has the built-in ability to assign a password to your Hotsync ID.  Go to Tools > Options > Security.  (At least, that's the location in Palm Desktop 6.2.2 and I seem to recall it being the same or similar in PD 4.2.

Unfortunately if you don't have the password you will have to do a hard reset, this will revert your device back to factory settings
Here is a link to show how to do a hard reset - kb.palm.com and enter solution id 887
Once the hard reset is complete you can try to hotsync your information back to the device.

Thank you for the tip on aceeca. It worked! I am now ready to do my first hot sync in 18 months! I was close to being hospitalized after so long of worrying. One final glitch though, The hot sync manager is asking me for a device password! I dont know it, and I dont remember ever having one in fact. Now what? can it be bypassed. can I find it somehow?

There is no way I know of to get past a device password without performing a Hard Reset.

Unfortunately there is no way to recover lost passwords on a device. Also there is no backdoor either as such would be a security loop hole in the system. Now if you do not need the data you can do a hard reset of the device. This will take the device back to factory settings, just like you got it out of the box.
The directions with screen shots on how to do a hard reset is here, if you do not know how to do one.

  • Palm Passwords Plus Replacement?

I'm migrating from a Palm Treo to a new iPhone. I've used DataViz's Passwords Plus password/personal information manager, which keeps all of my data in sync between both my Treo and my 2 Macs. I've seen no indication that DataViz is porting the app, so does anyone know of a Mac/iPhone solution that will do this best? Ideally one that will import my Passwords Plus data...

e-wallet has gotten some good reviews and it looks like a visually appealing iPod app. If you contact support, they will send you info on how to import password information into their product.
I haven't tried they e-Wallet, as I've just started looking for a password app to use. I do think Passwords Plus is EXTREMELY function and very elegantly written. I wish DataViz would make up their minds to write an iPod app. Wouldn't that be a no-brainer for the consumer??

  • I have a new Palm Pre Plus - can I have more than one Google G-Mail Account on the phone?

I have a general G-Mail account and it has started getting too busy with advertisements etc.  I'm thinking about changing to a different e-mail address but don't know what yet.
I have an old Palm Centro I used to Synch with my laptop.  Now I need to do this with G-Mail.  So I created a unique g-mail account that would only contain my calendar and contact information - i called it "palm.last name" - made sense to me.
When I try to add it to my Palm Pre Plus I am unable to sign in.  I'm wondering if you are limited to the number of Gmail e-mail accounts you can have on the phone.  If i can only have 1 then I don't want my e-mail to be "palm.last name" and give that out to people - that would not make sense to them.
I already have a Yahoo Account and I'm thinking about another Yahoo Account to keep some e-mails and instant messages separate from my personal Yahoo.  If I cannot add more than 1 account, this is going to be a problem.
Thank you for any assistance you can provide.

Hi, and welcome to the Palm Support Community.
You should be able to add your second Gmail account without any problem...I have two Gmail accounts on my Pre and have no difficulties.
When you say you are unable to "sign in", I assume you mean you are unable to sync the email and calendar on your new account?  Double-checking your user name and password are the only things that come to mind.
