Palm Treo 700p Cannot install. Windows Vista looking for Drivers

Installed Palm software and synced on my Dell with no issues.
Went to install on 2nd PC with Windows Vista Home. Issues. Got new download for Vista 32 and downloaded off site.
Same error puts me in a circle. System finds new hardware. Looks to install driver. Can't find Drive on CD or Hardrive and so keeps in loop. Cannot finish 1st "sync" without driver so install does not complete.
Please advise:
Can I use the Palm device on two seperate PC's (One on NT running fine..now adding Vista Home).
How do I get the drive installed?
How do I be sure NOT to overwrite the data on the Palm when I sync the 1st time on the 2nd pc.

Hello jpmill2 and welcome to the Palm forums.
1. Please make sure that your Windows Vista account is a member of the Administrators group. I would also be sure to check that antivirus software is disabled during the install process.
2. You can use the Treo 700p with more than one computer. I sync my Treo with my office PC running Windows XP SP2 and my Vista Business SP1 machine at home. (And a Mac, just for good measure.)
3. The USB driver for the Treo 700p is obtained by installing Palm Desktop 4.2 (bundled on the Treo 700p software disc) or by installing Palm Desktop 6.2 by ACCESS for Windows [Vista]. You should install the software first, and then connect the Treo after the install is complete. If prompted to HotSync during the install, I aways Skip it.
4. If you Skip the HotSync during the Palm Desktop isntall, you can create a new HotSync ID on the computer with the same name as the HotSync ID on your Treo. Then set the conduits to Handheld overwrites Desktop and then sync.

Vista looking for drivers and BSODs

I bought a 3TB MyCloud device a few months ago. I cannot get it to work properly with my Windows Vista desktop and support refused to help. They remoted in and accessed the device without using their software and claimed it was a Windows problem, not theirs. When I connect the device directly to my Ubee Wireless Router/Switch, Windows Vista immediately sees it as new hardware and tries to find drivers for it. Of course WD does not provide these. In Device Manager, it shows up under Other Devices with a warning indicator because there are no drivers installed. I was able to copy files to the device, but when I try to access them from the device, my Windows Vista desktop gets a BSOD (this happened after the call to support). I've now disconnected the device from my network as the constant BSODs damaged my computer. The device works with my Windows 8.1 computer, but has problems with my Sony Blu-Ray player connected wirelessly to the network. I've posted about this in a different thread. Is there a way to get this working properly with Windows Vista?

However, as soon as I clicked on a file, the screen would scramble and then BSOD. This only occurred with files loaded onto the MyCloud device. After some blue screens, I started up into Safe Mode with Networking. I was able to click on the files without crashing, though Media Player wouldn't play them or even start in Safe Mode. I then did a clean boot and it tested okay. As I added items in MSCONFIG, the problem would not recur. There was one item that prevented me from even setting MSCONFIG to do a normal startup, and that was Kaspersky Internet Security 2015. Not only that, but I couldn't start the software at all. I did a complete removal of Kaspersky and then reinstalled it. I no longer have any BSODs. Both issues, as mysterious as they were, have mysteriously been resolved. I have a DLNA issue, but that's in another post. I also have a new issue with the WD My Cloud desktop app but I don't need to use that and if I do, I'll start a new discussion.

Cannot install windows 8 on Pavilion Elite M9600T (KX745AV-ABA) with Vista 64 BIT

I cannot install windows 8 on my computer. I contacted Microsoft and he worked on it for three hours and said I had a graphics card driver problem.I am using a Nvidia GeForce 9800GT which came with the computer. When I try to update to the latest driver (306.97) Which is on the Microsoft update site and also on the Nvidia site The screen says no signal and goes to sleep. I have been working with a Nvidia rep for a week now and he says it is not their driver that is causing the problem and that I should contact HP. I don't know what else to do. I removed the working Nvidia driver (SP41066) also and Tried to install windows 8 and recieved the same message "Windows installation was not successful" and returned me to Vista 64 Bit. I don't know what else to do. Can someone please help or am I just out of luck. Thank you,

By the way up for one more go. I was finally able to find someone with a possible solution for you. the user yashoshah on the tomshardware forums had the problem:
"Windows installation was not successful. Your previous version of windows will be restored. Please do not switch off your computer during this time"

He fixed it by removing the HDMI cable and connecting to the monitor through DVI. After it was installed he went back to using HDMI.
How is your video card connected to the monitor: what cable and what interface is on the monitor and what interface are you using on the video card? Perhaps the Microsoft rep you spoke to was partly correct about the video card being the problem. It might be that the driver built into Windows 8 has a problem with certain configurations.

Installing Windows Vista with multiple CDs

I am installing Windows Vista Home Premium on my macbook pro using bootcamp. My Vista installation comes with 5 CDs and I cannot eject to insert the next discs during windows installation. how do I install my vista?

Hi and welcome to Discussions,
due to the lack of a 'real' eject-button on the optical drive and the fact that the 'software' eject-button is only avaiable after the installation, you are out luck.
BootCamp only supports one-disc installation media for Windows installations.
I don't know if you can get one from Microsoft, but maybe worth trying.

How do I install Windows Vista on my New Macbook Pro

I need to use DOS for work to fill out reports for my organization. I have the newest 15.4 macbook pro with intel core 2 duo. I want to know the exact steps to install windows vista on my computer?? please help me.

It depends on what you want to use Windows for, are you going to work mainly in Windows or OSX? Will you need to cross between the two and if so will restarting your computer be a pain?
I use Paralles, a copy of that is around $75 as far as I can remember.
Personally I had a copy of Windows XP so that was the first Windows OS I used with Paralles, then Vista came out so I though I would get a copy as it was supposed to be * the * Windows OS, when I installed Vista I was so dissapointed with it. I would go as far as say it is one of the ugliest OS's I have seen, I actually prefer XP, it's like the old space programs when you look at the sets, they made an effort but you can see the budget was low, it looks like a really poor effort at copying OSX but they didn't spend the money on doing it right.
Anyway, I just use XP so Vista for me was a waste of money. XP works faster and is more intuitive than Vista 'If Windows can be intuative that is'.
I also read out there that security in Vista isn't what it is cracked up to be.

I am new at this forum. My name is Francisco and I live in Brazil. I own a Toshiba Qosmio g20_105 and it is running Windows Vista Ultimate EN RTM 6000 without problems.
To do this, you must perform a fresh install of Windows Vista. The drivers for network (Intel PRO100),for audio (Soundmax), for TV (Toshiba PCI Tuner), modem (toshiba modem), Alps pointing device are installed directly from microsoft. You must install Toshiba nvidia display driver, Toshiba Bluetooth (monitor and stack), Toshiba texas flash media driver, toshiba RAID (driver and utilities), toshiba remote control manager and ConfigFree for Windows Vista.
You must have the Toshiba RAID drivers to install from the windows Vista DVD. Otherway, Windows does not recognize Toshiba RAID 0 and RAID 1.

3. Power on your computer and press F12 to display the boot menu.

5. On the first setup screen, choose your language options then press "Next".

Use a Windows Vista English Version RTM Ultimate 6000 DVD for installation.

2.Check your Qosmio player installation. if nedeed, reinstall it with the latest version (multilanguage), posted on Toshibas site (download drivers section).

You can select your desired screen brightness and the monitor input settings:

After installation this utility appears into the Toshiba Assist Window, on Optimize category as shown in the picture above.
As the Toshiba Media (Top) buttons are not working by now, you can use the HotKey (Fn+4) which is working 100% , to toggle from Normal screen input(4:3 aspect)
to wide screen input (16:9 aspect).
Press the Fn+4 once and your monitor video in is 4:3 mode, press again and the monitor video in is 16:9 mode, press once more and the image returns to your lcd normal. screen.

I cannot install windows 8.1 on my Envy touchsmart 15 notebook pc

I cannot install windows 8.1 on my Eny touchsmart 15 notebook pc. My current operating system is win 8. After going throught the setup and about 35% of the drivers load, I get a black screen and the install quits. I have left it on all night and still no installation. I am not sure what to do next. I have all my drivers up to date, have stopped my backup system, unplugged all my external items and stopped my firewall and antivirus.

Wish you luck. You are in good company. None of the HP ENVY series appears to be able to upgrade to Windows 8.1 and no one at HP appears to know why. In additgion, if you have looked lately, you may even find that there are no longer any drivers listed for Windows 8x64 either. Only a place to click to order (and pay for I presume) a Restore DVD. Interesting choice of options considering the TouchSmart Windows 8 x64 models do not even have a DVD player to restore From in the first place.
HP definately dropped the ball on this one a it loks like they are not even going to provide solutions for those of us under Warranty.
Error codes I get are 0xC1900101 and 0x40019
I have read others saying it is a hardware problem but HP refuses to do anything about it

Cannot Install Windows 7 with AHCI mode

Hello,
Having just submitted a support ticket to MSI, I was curious to see if anyone else has experienced a similar issue or may be able to suggest a possible resolution.
I recently purchased a MSI Z87-G41 PC Mate for an htpc build.
I've ran into an issue of not being able to install Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit onto my ANY SATA 3 hard drive with SATA mode - AHCI enabled in bios.
Main parts for the build are:
Motherboard: MSI Z87-G41 PC Mate
CPU: Intel Core i3-4130 3.4 3 FCLGA 1150
RAM: G.SKILL Ares Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600
PSU: Corsair Builder Series CX 600
OS HD: Crucial M500 SSD
During Windows install and selecting the SSD in which to install windows onto..
Windows will prompt with: “Windows cannot be installed to Disk x Partition x. (Show details)
Afterwards, I’ll select ‘Load driver’ and select the “Intel Rapid Storage Technology Driver for 8x series,” provided by MSI drivers download page. Confirmed as a valid driver for the SATA AHCI controller.
"Select the driver to be installed" lists: “Intel(r) 8 Series/C220 Chipset Family SATA AHCI Controller” Looks good, then progress...
Followed by clicking on next- “Setup was unable to create a new system partition or locate an existing system partition. See the setup log files for more information.”
I've tried installing Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit via USB drive and OEM disc to no avail.
Performed a test using the same install procedure with my primary desktop computer which uses a MSI z68A-GD65 (G3) motherboard (AHCI enabled.) I was able to install windows to my Crucial M500 SSD without issue.
Confirmed the issue occurs while testing with different hard drives. I have yet to be able to install windows with AHCI enabled on this motherboard.
HDDs tested include:
WD Black WD5002AALX 500GB
Seagate ST3100524AS 1TB
Once I change SATA mode from AHCI to IDE, I was able to install windows without the need of pre-loading the Intel 8 Series SATA/AHCI driver.
Afterwards having installed windows, I decided to test by switching SATA mode back to AHCI. Doing so will cause the machine to bsod upon booting to windows. Later, I performed the registry edit to change IDE to AHCI mode within windows. Followed by again enabling AHCI in bios.
I was able to boot while in AHCI mode temporarily a couple of times until this method stopped working. Any attempt past the bios post, windows will not boot.
I've also tested the manual and XMP profile RAM settings as suggested by the sticky'd thread here https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=178019.0
I would like to possibly resolve the issue in regards to utilizing AHCI mode for optimal performance for my hard drives and hot swap capability.
When I have more time, I suppose I can run a RAM test; but so far I simply believe it may just be a SATA controller or driver conflict with the motherboard.
tl;dr Cannot install Windows 7 onto any hard drive with AHCI enabled. Works fine with IDE mode.

** Update as of 6/3/2014 ** Issue resolved.
Received my replacement motherboard from RMA. Replacement is working without any issues with SATA mode set to AHCI.
Tested by running Windows 7 and Windows 8 install - both detected my SATA SSD and other HDDs as applicable drives to install Windows onto. Pre-loading the SATA controller drivers was not necessary. Windows boots up immediately without any delay now. Benchmarks are showing valid stats for SATA3 devices.
Also to note, the replacement motherboard came with bios version 1.5, compared the one I sent back which came with 1.6. In case if that had anything to do with it. Not going to risk updating the bios at this point.

Installed a RAID card in my Dell Inspiron 3847. However, the RAID BIOS does not show up and I cannot install Windows 7 to it.

That is basically a summary of the problem The Dell Inspiron 3847 does not come with RAID, so I tried installing a PCI-express 1x RAID card. However, the RAID BIOS never shows up. The HDDs show up when I install the RAID controller driver in Windows 7 setup, but I cannot install Windows 7. I am using an IOCrest SY-PEX40008 RAID card with a Silicon Image Sil3124 chipset.
I tried pressing the hotkeys for the RAID BIOS listed in the card's manual, but it seems to just cause bootup to freeze. BIOS also does not seem to detect the RAID card HDDs as boot options.

%AppData% is the name of an environment variable.
On XP that variable points to C:\Documents and Settings\<user>\Application Data\
"Application Data" in XP/Win2K and "AppData" in Vista/Windows 7 are hidden folders, use %APPDATA% in the File name field

Installing Windows Vista Ultimate 64 bit on Bootcamp issue

Hi I'm a newbie, I would like to install Windows Vista Ultimate 64 bit using boot camp. I went into boot camp to partition and split the 1 terabyte hardrive. half is for Leopard, the other half is for Windows Vista.
I followed the steps and popped in the disk, awhile later I get a message saying "Where do you want to install Windows?"
It's showing:
Disk 0 Partition 1 200 mb primary
Disk 0 Partition 2 466 gb Primary
Disk 0 unallocated space 128 mb
Disk 0 partition 3 Boot camp 464 gb Primary.
which ever one I click on it says "Windows Cannot be installed to this hard disk space. Windows must be installed to a partition formatted as NTFS"
I can't get passed this part, what do I do?
Any help is greatly appreciated

Hi Stuart,
Vista needs its system partition to be formatted with NTFS.
The BootCamp Asistant does a pre-format with FAT32 since OSX can not write to NTFS partitions (only read).
Therefor you have to reformat the Windows partition with the Vista Installer to NTFS.

Having some Issues After Installing Windows Vista

I just recently installed Windows Vista Ultimate 32 Bit SP1 on my Intel iMac running OS 10.6. I thought everything was good until I noticed 2 things. 1. I did not have a Boot Camp icon in the system try, nor could I find it listed in control panels. 2. When I tried connecting to the internet via Internet Explorer while in Windows, it told me that I did not have a internet or network connection. When I'm on the Mac OS X side my internet connection is fine. I tried reinstalling the drivers, but my only options were install CD/DVD or to connect my computer to another computer. I tried installing them manually but I noticed a yellow exclamation point on my iSight and Broadcom drivers. I can't update them because I can't connect to the internet. Can anyone help? Any assistance is greatly appreciated. I'm not a PC expert. Thanks!

Even I have the same kind of problem. After reading an update features list, I turned off and on the "Network Time Zone" button, its the same issue and its almost an hour its still saying that "Waiting for Network Time. After reboot the msg didn't appear but after turn off and turn on, same issue.
Seems like the update broken this issue while fixing the part of not showing the city and country when the "Network Time Zone" option is turned on.

I got this phone recently two week ago, and it was on WebOs 1.2.1 till i upgraded to 1.3.5 a week ago.
I am also having some other issues like Alarm. I have set two alarms one at 6.30 am and another at 6.45 am. It used to work fine, like getting buzzed for two alarms one after the other till before I update to 1.3.5. Today morning i observed that i got the buzz for first alarm, but i was waiting for the second one and it didn't come at all. I dismissed the first one. The phone was in charging using AC power.

Either this statement is wrong or the update is not working as it supposed to if this statement is correct. When i click the address from the open contact entry it takes me to Googles Page but not to Sprint Navigation launcher. Either i am doing wrong. Palm Treo 700p and QuickBooks 2009

Before I upgraded to QB 2009 Pro, I used to use QB 2007 Pro and a little program called Time to Time. I also have a Palm Treo 700p (Palm OS) The Time to Time program would interface between QB and the Palm pilot and would allow me to select a customer, start time keeping, document what I did and then I could stop the time. When I hotsync'ed, it would copy the data down to my pc, I ran the Time To Time program to transfer the data straight into QB.
Now after I've upgraded to QB 2009 Pro, my Time to Time program won't work and the company doesn't exist anymore so I'm looking for another program that I can do the same with - keep track of my time, hotsync the data into QB 2009 Pro.
Can anyone suggest anything?

Installing Windows Vista on external HDD

I know there's going to be problems and most people would be happy just to say 'it can't be done', but I really need to install Windows Vista on an external HDD using FireWire 800.
I have read some brief info on the Internet that some people have achieved this for Windows XP using an external USB 2 mass storage device 'HDD' (and even for large capacity flash drives).
Personally, I only intend to use a hand full of programs for Vista on a regular basis and prefer not to install what maybe a more stable and reliable XP version of Windows due to having such a dull looking interface that makes you want to jump off the nearest cliff (the interface and look is that depressing.. Really!). Anyway, I have the new MacBook Pro 17" 'unibody' and an external buss powered (on 800) G-Tech G-Drive mini with Firewire 800/400 & USB 2. I have already formatted the external G-Drive mini and installed Mac OS-X 10.5 on it and it works flawlessly via Firewire 800 once you've chosen it as the 'start-up disk' within System Settings (great for testing and not worrying about things too much if there's problems, having kept the MacBook Pro's own internal HDD intact and clean). I plan on partitioning the external G-Drive's 250GB capacity equally and thus have the mentioned Mac OS-X on one partion and hopefully eventually Windows Vista on the other equal partion.
This arrangement (if possible) I feel compelled to do because even though I can very easily install Windows Vista onto my MacBook Pro's internal HDD using Bootcamp with minimal hassel, I really don't want to infect my MacBook Pro's internal drive with Windows and all the troubles that Windows can bring. I feel I must keep my MacBook's internal drive clean and trouble free from any possible Windows viruses and spyware, besides I need the maximum capacity of the internal drive. If this all worked, then I would dismount the internal drive within disk utility once booted up in Windows, thus keeping it isolated from any Windows prone attacks or problems.
Only thing now is I have to find a way if there is one, Boot Camp won't partition the external FireWire 800 drive to ready it for Windows and Windows Vista may not have adequate drivers to enable it's boot from FireWire 800, although I could resort to the slower USB 2 interface that the drive also has on-board.
Anyone with any solutions? Would using Drive Genius to partition the external drive (on the fly) and readying the intended Windows Vista partition to a FAT 32 structure, help start the process?

Thoughts? ... I have plenty!
For now, I've had no choice but to install Vista on my MacBook Pro's internal drive using BootCamp, it will only be for the short term until I can find a way to do this on the external drive... it's also another worry to know that I may have problems with the 'boot table' after a few months, as you previously mentioned.
So setting up Windows Vista, updating, tweaking settings and getting it all working so that it functions properly to a half decent state is such a lengthy laborious tediously frustrating task with windows and taking huge amounts of time that it reminded me of just how much I have recently grown to hate windows and it now amazes me to think that until a year and a half ago I wouldn't move/budge from windows because of all the PC programs I had, but now I'm overwhelmingly relieved I made the jump and wonder why I put myself uneccessarily through so much pain and tourment.. well, even now windows isn't giving up without a fight as it continues to leave it's legacy because although I've now got it reasonably functioning under 'BootCamp' having installed Vista on my Mac's internal drive (for now), windows now bombards me with a routine of error messages upon boot-up stating:-
"Warning: Unrecognized partition table for drive 80. Please rebuild it using a Microsoft-compatible FDISK tool(err=4). Current C/H/S=266305/255/63 (hd0,2) Filesystem type is ntfs, partition type 0x7 chainloader /bootmgr"
it then repeats that error message several times during a few black screens (not the infamous blue screen) and on one occasion the error message refers to "(hidden sectors=0x1ee648800)" and there's plenty more double dutch info before it finally load Vista.. (I've only had Vista installed on BootCamp for a couple of day's now - since this reply) I'm considering trying my luck with installing Vista 64bit edition, having read that it is compatible on the Mac Pro and MacBook Pro's.
Meanwhile... with regard to using an external hard drive for a possible bootable Windows Vista over Firewire 800, I may have to consider the two 'close' alternative methods for doing this.. the first being the alleged workaround-fix shared on the internet for doing this using the USB 2 conection method, unfortunately this requires some time spent on editing some of the startup/installation sequence files which have to be extracted from the Windows installation '.iso' disk image using winiso, then edited and then inserted back into the '.iso' Windows install disk to burn onto a new DVD, trouble is this takes time which I don't have and it may only be a workaround solution for the very dull and bland looking windows XP version only which I don't want... Therefore I might have to go along with the more expensive option of having to invest in a slightly (actually a lot) more costly version of small portable external bus powered hard drive, the G-Tech G-Raid mini2 which has the inclusion of the eSATA interface making it a quad interface, therefore possibly enabling windows to boot from this as windows requires SATA connection for boot-ability. The only drawback for me personally with this second method is a). that I've already purchased the G-Drive mini1, b). the G-Raid mini2 is very costly, c). the mini2 is double the size being double the thickness and therefore not as tiny as the mini1 which you can squeeze into your MacBook Pro case's pocket, d). the mini2 will have a heavier battery drain having its two disks spinning instead of one like the mini1, and e). you have to have two cables connected between MacBook and mobile hard drive instead of one, one cable drawing the power from the Firewire 800 bus and the second cable transferring the data between the eSATA connection (if it works).
Alternatively.. Apple may save the day and at some point release a driver for BootCamp to enable Windows Vista 'Firewire 800 boot-ability support'. That would be very good! (but doubt that would ever happen with Apple's strange outlook on Firewire of late)
Or, G-Tech may put an eSATA connection interface/port on an updated version of the tiny, less power draining and more budget conscious G-Drive mini1 in the near future! (but that may be unlikely as well)
So, I'm not sure what to do at this moment.

Having trouble installing windows vista with snow leopard

I replaced my hard drive with a 3tb Seagate and partitioned the hard drive and installed Snow leopard and then partitioned the hard drive with bootcamp and went to install windows vista and got the error message that windows vista cannot be installed because of the gpt partition. Help.

sounds like you have a 2nd hard drive.
Also, you may run into 3TB issue with MBR. The boot partiton volume has to reside totally below 2.2TB so you would need to leave .8TB free. I think.
have an SSD and hard drive, both? during install you can't have another drive with GPT so you can't have OS X or GUID data drive present. During install.

Cannot install windows, starting to get really pissed off with this PLEASE HELP

ok, i'm starting to get agitated with this.
i cannot install windows XP, 2003, OR Longhorn on my machine.
right now, i have the following setup:
msi 865pe neo2 motherboard
intel p4 3.2ghz w/HT (factory HS/Fan currently)
1 dimm of PC3200 crucial DDR400
30GB maxtor HD plugged into primary IDE
pioneer dvd/cd drive as sencondary IDE
alps 3.5" floppy drive
antec true blue 480wt PSU
i do the following:
format with maxtor cd
boot from OS cd
start setup, reboot, continue
the farthest i can get is 'registering components/completing installation' i either get a blue screen stop error which isnt the same everytime, or it just locks up and doesnt do anything.
ran the memtest checker and get errors on test #4
i had a DIMM of kingston that gave the same errors, so i RMA'd it and got another. same errors, so i RMA'd again and got a Crucial stick. same errors.
so i RMA'd the motherboard since i figured it had to be that. and it improved from the problems i had earlier. (the problems i had before were worse before.)

thanks for the info about ram timings as well. i havnt gotten any solid answers about what to set it to.
even with new mobo and ram, i'm getting errors in memtest86 #4 test as i always have. i've tried different slots with same problems.
i only have one module because i dont want to waste anymore money on a non-working system. once i get it up and running i'll add another 512.
