Palm Treo 700W Iwould like to use mac mail as a pop account, unable to send

I am able to receive mac mail messages on my Verizon Treo 700W, however, I am unable to send. I have the outgoing server set as smtp.vzwmail.com - is this correct?
I get an error of "Unable to connect to the outgoing mail server. Verify that the server name is correct, then try again to send and receive mail."
Any ideas?

You will have to change your outgoing server settings. You will have to get an account at www.vtext.com (if you don't have it already). This will allow you to send mail. The account name will be your phone number [email protected] along with your user name and password. It's free to sign up.

  • Need Help Disabling Phone of Palm Treo 700w!!

    Hi all -
I recently bought a cheap, used palm treo 700w to use as a PDA only; I have specific programs that need to run on a windows mobile 5 PDA, and the treo was much cheaper than an ipaq or other handheld device. However, the phone still has the original owner's phone number saved, as well as their pin number. Even though the phone is no longer hooked up to any wireless carrier services, I'm concerned that one of my children is going to pick up the phone and make an emergency call or somehow interfere with the original owner's current phone since the phone number is still saved. Is there a way to completely disable the phone features of the palm treo 700w and still use the PDA, not just "turn off" the phone by pressing the power button but preventing it from being used as a phone completely? Thank you so much!!
Post relates to: Treo 700w (Verizon)

Thank you!  That certainly seems to be the one I have, and the age isn't important for what I need.  Now, though, that leads to the next issue, which is that I can't sync my contacts and calendar, although I think I've figured out why for myself.  Still, it generates another question.
I am currently using Palm v 4.2.1 on my desktop (Mac 10.4.11)  I bet it's too new, isn't it?  Is it going to be possible for me to back off to Palm 4.0 without losing the information that's currently stored in 4.2.1?  I don't mind installing an older version of the software (and I found the download), but if it means losing my information, I'll just pass this free Treo on to some other unsuspecting person.

  • J2ME for Palm Treo 700W

Hi, does anyone know of a J2ME environment which will work for this Windows Mobile device? Is there an IBM J9 version compatible with this device?

No, not with iSync, as it provides no support whatsoever for Windows Mobile or Pocket PC devices.
To support such devices, you must use a third-party application like the Missing Sync for Windows Mobile from Mark/Space or PocketMac from Information Appliance Associates. Both have promised updates to support Windows Mobile 5 devices like the Palm Treo 700w, but neither have released a completed, updated application to date.
Mark/Space is offering the opportunity to test an early alpha release of the Missing Sync for Windows Mobile. More information about that application is available here:

For whatever reason, I can't use (mac) mail 3.6 on my mac G5 with Charter ISP.   I would like to try Thunderbird (TB) - I'm now using Firefox 3.6.28.  But I can't navigate through Mozilla to find older versions  of TB.  Can you suggest a URL for down loading older versions of TB, or, other alternative email programs?

I have recently moved from Thunderbird to SeaMonkey - much better and up to date with the latest Mozilla code.
See my SeaMonkey page at: http://links.zero.eu.org/seamonkey/
For PPC - download the latest SeaMonkey-ppc from:
    https://code.google.com/p/seamonkey-ppc/downloads/list
For Intel - download normal SeaMonkey from:

Old versions of Thunderbird can be found here:

The latest Thunderbird for PPC is 3.1.20.

This sounds like the age old problem with keychain & Safari. I don't know of a way to solve it without using something like 1Password.
The iOS app has it's own built in browser, so it has more control over what gets autofilled. Safari on OS X has an 1Password extension that handles account selection & autofill etc.
Keychain is great in principle, but it quickly falls down when you need tight integration with many ID's & different use cases (work, home etc).
I'd suggest you submit feedback to Apple about your thoughts. I did so years ago about this issue & this is how far we have come (back to the point where me.com synced passwords) :^)
    http://apple.com/feedback/macosx.html
Other tools like lastpass or keypassx may also help if you want to truly segregate password storage, but that doesn't fix autofill, the way around that issue is to dedicate one browser for work.

  • Using .mac alias as an iChat account name

    Hi,
    I'm a full .mac member.
Thus, I am able to create aliases (e.g. [email protected]).
I'd like to use this alias as an iChat account name (so I can have two iChat accounts : one personal, one professional).
    Is this possible ?
    Thanks,
    Regards,
    Tibo

    HI TiboDeParis,
    Nope.
Screen names have to be full names or Trial accounts.
Trial accounts work after the 60 days are up.
The other option is of course an AIM screen name.

  • Using mac mail 3.6 on leopard OS to connect to exchange server 2010?

Is there a way to connect to a 2010 exchange server using mac mail 3.6 on leopard OS? I have the server name but cannot figure out how to send mail using the smtp outgoing sever?

Well, you could try a search for whatever it is after the @sign +mail+setup, like
    google. com mail setup
    http://www.google.com/search?client=icab&rls=en&q=google.+com+mail+setup&ie=UTF- 8&oe=UTF-8

  • I use mac mail on my network, when i file it into a folder is stays in my inbox, how do i get it out of my inbox?

All of a sudden mail ends up in the wrong folders how do i fix this
i use mac mail, i have three machines with my account set up on it.  Today i find also that when i filed items out of my in box and there is still a copy in my inbox and one in the folder i moved it to, it should only be in the folder i moved it to

Are they Smart Folders? Smart Folders don't actually hold e-mail messages, but reflect what is filed elsewhere.

  • I use Mac Mail. How do I set up an email to get a delivery or read receipt?

I use Mac Mail. How do I set up an email to get a delivery or read receipt? In other words, I want to receive automated confirmation that the email was either delivered, opened, or both -- which you can do in Outlook. I was not able to find this option in the Mail menu.

Unfortunately OS X Mail does not offer this feature as far as I know. With Apple failing to offer that feature up until now I highly doubt it'll happen in the future :/

  • I have an iMac, and have a Verizon DSL account. Recently, my Mac Mail keeps requesting the passwords on my account every few minutes, and will not allow me to send messages using Mac Mail. I cannot edit the outgoing server; how can I send emails?

I have an iMac, and have a Verizon DSL account (3 email addresses). Recently, my Mac Mail keeps requesting the passwords on my accounts every few minutes, and will not allow me to send messages using Mac Mail (the message says that the outgoing server was rejected. I cannot edit the outgoing server, and the keychain will not save my passwords (the ports are valid). How can I change the outgoing server to send emails, and how can I avoid having Mail request my passwords every 2 minutes? Verizon, as usual, will not provide support to iMacs.

Is there an email saved in your drafts or outbox folder?  I suspect that Mail is continually trying to send it, and each time Google is rejecting the email message.
You can open the message and then delete it from your Outbox folder.  Then try removing all @gmail email addresses from it and seeing whether you can send to the other folks.  I suspect that will work.
With email, if an SMTP server *can* verify email addresses, sometimes it will and it will refuse to send messages.  If a message has to be relayed across servers, no verification is done, and you'll get a bounce if an email address is bad.

The reason Safari "wiped" is unknown, but try reapplying the OS X 10.6.8 Combo update here:
    Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1
Your email problems may or may not be related. A more complete explanation of the problem would help.

  • Sending audio file using Mac Mail

What would be the best way to send a short audio clip using Mac Mail to recipients who all have PC's?

All I know is sometimes I receive documents, audio or video clips from friends who have PC's and they can't be played or opened up on my Mac because I don't have the proper applications to open them.
I would assume the reverse could also happen depending on the program that created them.
As an example: What if I send an audio clip taken from my iTunes Library and the person who receives it doesn't have iTunes and the only other program they have is Windows Media Player. Will they be able to open this file up?
    Thanks.

  • Trouble using .mac mail alias's with Panther Mail

I am using Mac Mail 1.3.11 (Panther) here and have a .mac account. When I compose mail, the Account field in the header only allows me to select my main .mac account name. This seems to defeat the purpose of alias's - if I have to send mail from my root account name. The only workaround I found is to create a seperate mail account for the alias. But then of course if I only check the alias, I miss mail to my root account name. And if I check both, my Inbox contains double of nearly everything.
Any suggestions? Or do I have to shell out the $$ to buy Tiger for this computer too, just to enable alias's?
    Thanks

    forget it
