Palm Treo 800w Error Synchronizing Work Email and ActiveSync screen problems

For some reason, yesterday my email stopped synchronizing. Anytime I hit the "send/receive", it looks like it's going through the process but I get an "error synchronizing" error. Normally it is on auto synch. My other email accounts work just fine. When I go into the "ActiveSync" through programs to delete the acct and start over, the activesych screen just disappears within a second of me opening it. I can't keep it open for me to make any edits or see if I can get a specific error message. Any thoughts? Not sure if Sprint can solve this or if I would have to go through Palm to troubleshoot??

If you need help, you can always go to a corporate Sprint service store. To find one near you, go to http://storelocator.sprint.com/StoreLocator/Searchform.aspx. Enter your zip code in the box and choose the radio button that says "Repair centers near me".
However, they are most likely going to just do what you can on your own to start with and that is a hard reset. A hard reset erases all data on the phone and returns it to the default factory settings. Backup any data that you need to keep and then go to http://kb.palm.com/SRVS/NUA/launchKB.asp?c=41108 for instructions on how to hard reset. Once you have reset your device, you will then need to reinstall any software that you added, restore your backed up data, etc. You might find the following link helpful when setting up your device again: http://kb.palm.com/SRVS/NUA/launchKB.asp?c=40086.

Palm Treo Pro - suddenly lost Messaging email and SMS?

Currently travelling overseas and no probs first few days but then was in Port Isaac with "no signal" and switching carriers and lost messaging - emails, sms etc. I can make outgoing calls and receive them but can't receive SMS. I can access web for weather updates, Facebook etc. I have done a few few soft resets with no success although one time I got an error message about device.exe - not every time though. The messaging won't work either through the nominated button or through the menu item. I do get the "thinking" whirling ball for 10s while it tries but nothing starts. Has my device.exe become corrupted somehow - can I replace it or do I need a hard reset? Should I install 6.5 if that is the case - don't really want to lose all contacts etc
Any comments appreciated - it is driving me nuts!

It is strange if web browsing works but not email. Unlike SMS, email should be using the same data connection as web. Are you roaming with your provider's SIM card or are you using a local SIM card?
I generally get a device.exe error if I close a program and it doesn't close correctly, or very occasionally if a program crashes for some other reason. I don't think I've seen it during startup. I doubt that the file has become corrupted, although I suppose it's possible.
There is no (official) 6.5 update for the Treo Pro.

HotSync connection issue with Palm Treo 800w Sprint work around Solved !!!

I just switched from my Treo Palm Treo 755p to the The Palm Treo 800w. For the life of me I couldn't figure out why though everything was connected via USB. The Microsoft ActiveSync would work once or twice then nothing . Though I knew it was connected the charge wouldn't work either.
Here is my work around and it never fails.
If you see the Red light or Green light on your phone while connected Via the USB that means you are connected you can sync and charge.
If you don't see the red/green light on or see the phone in My computer > Mobile devices.
Plug your phone in via the USB. While it's plugged in take the battery out . Then put the battery back in. You know you are good when you see the red light or green light turn on. Red light means charging Green light means its fully charged.
I have connected every time using the take out the battery method and my Treo 800w charges / Microsoft syncs the works!!
Hope this helps I tried everything before I figured this out.

Did you install the 800W update that is available on the support page under downloads? There is a download for the charging issue and the USB connection issue.

Palm Treo 800W -- Ringtones too quiet! It's never as loud as the preview when selecting the ringtone...?

I have a Palm Treo 800W and I am required to keep it on vibrate the whole time because the sound of the vibrate is louder then the actual ringtone, even when I have the devices volume turned up to the max. When I go in to select a ringtone and preview it, it's very loud. Loud enough to be functional, but yet when I receive a phone call I can't hear my phone ringing since the ring tone is so quite.
I tried a soft reset because I thought that might be the problem but that still didn't fix the problem. Every other tone works fine, such as text message notification, or email notification, etc... but the ringtone for 'known' and 'unknown caller' is just too quite to be functional. Does anyone know how to fix this problem?

Don't know if comfortable with editing your registry... I found a RegEdit out there to modify your ring vol that works really well. A word of warning, if you are going to attempt: A>don't modify registry unless you are willing to live with consequences B>use 3 as your vol setting if you don't want to wear out your speaker or hear distorted sound.

I can sign into iCloud but can't remember the answers to my security questions and the link for a password reset it my old work email and I don't work there any more and don't want to contact them!! Help.

Want to change me password for my Apple ID on I cloud. I am doing this on my Mac but going into I cloud on Safari. With an attitude like that, you got nicer replies than you should have. I have my work email on my iPhone and my iPad, but there's no way on earth anyone here would have known what my companies server is other than my company system administrator.........

Assuming that you can send email on the iPad, Maybe something is corrupt in Safari that is causing this. Try clearing Safari and see if the sites will accept your email address.
Go to Settings>Safari>Clear History, Cookies and Data. Restart the iPad. Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.

Can't access my work email and any sms and mms

I have a blackberry storm 2 9550. I have 2 email accounts set up on it, my work email and my home email. I also have an icon for sms and mms messages. They are separate accounts and up until yesterday they were working fine. Now both email account icons show my home emails when depressed. Also the sms and mms icon show my home emails as well. Now if I lightly touch my work email icon, it displays the correct work email address but when I depress it it displays my home email address and home emails. What a glitchy device. I would like to view my work emails which is why I got the blackberry. Can anyone help with this?

You need to ask Apple to reset your security questions; ways of contacting them include clicking here and picking a method for your country, phoning AppleCare and asking for the Account Security team, and filling out and submitting this form.
They wouldn't be security questions if they could be bypassed without Apple verifying your identity.

Why does it take 6 minutes to send a photo attachment when my iphone 4 will do it in 30 to 40 seconds ?
Why will my email account be recognised and log on only half the time?
Why does the wifi keep dropping out?
Why does the speed and signal vary when I'm sitting two feet away from by wifi router?
All settings in my phone have been reset twice as per advice from vodapone

AppleWorks has never been available for legal download.
Have you done the usual trouble shooting steps:
Quit AppleWorks
Delete most or all of the Recent Items list.
Remove the Preferences files to the Desktop or to the Trash.
Launch AppleWorks to see if the problems remain.
You'll find Recent Items in:
username > Documents > AppleWorks User Documents > Starting Points > Recent Items
There are several preferences files.
Go to:
username > Library > Preferences
Locate, select and delete the file com.apple.appleworks.plist
Still in the Preferences floder, locate and open the folder AppleWorks.
Select and delete the two Cache files and the Preferences file.
Button Bars is also a preferences file, but may be left where it is IF you have no problems that appear related to the Button Bar, and wish to preserve any changes you've made to the Button Bar.

Palm treo 800w keeps syncing way too long

I have had three of these phones so far. It seems pop and exchange sync accts can be set up and work, then after about 2-3 months the phone goes crazy. It wants to exchange sync continuously. Totally eats the battery(even ext. life). All schedule parameters are set: tried sync manually -not work. sync every 1-2 hours-not work, etc. Tried to delete the exhange sync acct. and start over, but when hit email button, acct. picker shows the exchange acct., but the delete feature is grayed out. why?? So, opened activesync program exposed the sync option tree(which has microsoft exchange at the top, then cal, tasks, email, etc. listed under it), highlighted microsoft exchange, and got an option to delete, and deleted it there. Now exchange sync acct. is not listed on the phone. So, followed Palm's directions to add an EAS Outlook Account, manually put in all parameters, and the phone by itself starts to sync the folders, etc. Problem is it syncs and syncs and syncs, etc. showing tasks done, email done, contacts done, but when doing the calendar, it starts with some numbers like, 591/594(downloading) and it looks like it is working, but more fractions keep appearing going all the way up to 12,000 and it is still syncing(left it all night). What is going on here??? Thanks for input. I have gone through 3 phones in 8 months. I am fearing the 1 year is nearing and this phone will never be predictilbly functional. Thanks for this posting area, am at wits end.

Have you imposed a limit on your calendar sync, e.g., 3 months or 6 months?
(One of my favorite things about my old Treo 650 was the 4 years to calendar entries, so I could accurately answer questions like, "when was the last time we did X." However, the mixing of my work and personal calendars has made this impractical. )

Treo 800W Can't get email from desktop outlook b/c no exchange server or web-based email

Help... I used to use the "personal business connection" from Sprint before they discontinued using it last fall to get my email. They housed it on their server by having it sink with my desktop outlook 2000 in real time, then my device (Treo 800w) would sink with their server so that I could respond to email on my treo and it would look the same in my desktop outlook as it did on my treo. It would show messages read that i had read, and my sent treo messages would appear in my desktop outlook sent folder. Since Sprint has discontinued "business connection-- personal", I have not been able to get my email in the same fashion. I don't have an exchange server at work and use POP3 email but it is not a commercial service like yahoo or gmail. I download my email to my outlook and primarily use outlook on my desktop but want to be able to use my treo to view and respond to email on the fly and have it show the messages I have already addressed in my desktop outlook. Any ideas? I am desperate and very frustrated that Sprint discontinued business connection. Every application I have looked at either required an exchange server or that I house all my email on a web-based site and quit using my desktop outlook. Thanks....

Yes, I was very bummed when Sprint discontinued BCPE.
SEVEN Networks, the company that made BCPE for Sprint, has several new products available under beta. None of them seem to offer exactly what we had with BCPE. In fact, one forum posting says that our style of usage (sync'ing directly with the data stored in the Outlook data file) was never actually a supported configuration. Treo 800w doesn't work as good as I expected...even on simplest things. Can anyone help?

My new Treo 800w doesn't search for name in my contacts when I text message; will always say "matching...". So as of now, I have to look up my contacts as if I was going to call someone and instead of calling I'd select "send text message". Also, I've recently purchased an sandisk 8gb SDHC card and my treo doesn't see the card inserted but shows my 2GB SD card. And... MY BATTERY SUCKS! With wifi and Bluetooth off, and even clearing all applications with Task Manager. Anyone know of a fix?

Got mine a week ago and I like it. Contacts should be really easy if you're using the "lookup field" (has a picture of a dude holding a giant phone) I type letters of the name and it searches both first and last names. You might check to see if you're listing your contacts by name or by company.
2nd on your memory card... check to see if it's formatted. I've seen some cards not work properly until formatted when I worked for a GeekSquad.
3rd - my battery was terrible the first two days I had it cause I couldn't stop fiddling with it. Try draining it completely (or as close as you can stand) and then charging to 100% a few times. sometimes those batteries need to "stretch their legs!"

How do I add a work email and keep it separate from unified inboxes?

I have multiple personal accounts and love using the unified inboxes feature.
Now I want to add my work email so I can check it once in a blue moon. I'm afraid that means I won't be able to use my unified inbox to check my personal email without seeing the work email I want to avoid 99% of the time.
Is there a way to add my work email without it being included in the unified inbox?

I have a laptop with microsoft outlook for work emails, and an ipad (with IOS 7.1) and an i-phone with ios 7.0.6 currently. Since about 2 weeks ago, I now get all spam emails coming to my aple device inbox.

In other words, my outlook email account correctly identifies spam email and places it automatically into my spam inbox on outlook, but with my iphone and ipad, all the apm emails as well as my "good" emails are coming into my inboxes on my apple devices. In other words, they are not correctly synconising with my outlook inbox? They have all worked happily in tandem for a few years, but recently, they have stopped synchronising incoming email and I now get hundreds of spam email downloading onto my apple devices where as before this didn't happen. Any explanations? solutions?
