Palm Treo Pro Kills Wireless connection when connected via USB

Everytime I connect my Treo Pro to my desktop via USB it kills my desktop's wirless Internet connection. is there a setting that I need to correct?

does your wireless kit in the PC using a USB port or it's wireless card that is attached directly to the motherboard?
if it is also a USB card, yes it can happen. probably USB conflict however if it's directly attached then it's very unlikely to happen.

Telstra Palm Treo Pro & Whereis Navigator problem

Hi, hoping this might save some time for other Telstra users subscribing to Whereis Navigator to take advantage of the GPS capability of the Palm Treo Pro.
The problem: when trying to open Whereis Navigator there was intermittant account (you subscribe to Telstra for this service) authorisation problems. The error message was along the lines (can't recall verbatim), "can't verify account authorisation, please try again later".The solution: On treo, open internet explorer, go to wap.telstra.comthen to 'my account', then 'Locational preferences', then 'my location settings', then tick 'allow me to be located' and 'allow a GPS location'. After this was done, no more problems.

Further update on above posts from problems during WhereisNavigator critical updates.
This from garmin/Telstra;
"Please have the customer try the following: ·
Open Internet Explorer on their device.·
Go to settings and clear the browser cache (not having the device in front of me at the moment, I can’t give more specific directions)·         Re-start Whereis Navigator and click View Details·
Click the download link If this still fails, a secondary solution is to have the customer enter the following URL directly in to their browser: http://offboardnav.whereis.com This will take them to the same download site, but will remove the extra step of opening the application. "
Once I cleared the browser cache, the critical update install from the 'view details' prompt of the update within WhereisNavigator worked fine. Note on this occasion it didn't work (as it has with previous critical update istall problems) to navigate to the URL  http://offboardnav.whereis.com and install directly.

I have a problem with using MacBook Pro as wifi router when connected to ethernet. The Airport icon changes to show a laptop inside, my iPad shows connected (I think) but Safari will not operate. I tried pinging my iPad, it seems to see the iPad, but no connection to Safari or to other apps such as Good on the iPad. I have read many posting and tried repeatedly via Sharing in Systems Preferences, but no luck. Suggestions to fix, or is this a Lion problem?

Usually this is a problem related to the domain name server address. If you open Network preferences, select your Ethernet port then click on the Advanced button then on the DNS tab. You will likely see an entry like 10.0.1.1 already listed. Click on the Add [-] button and enter 208.67.222.222 then click on the OK button and then on the Apply button. See if this helps.
if it does not help then repeat the above but with the Airport port.

Hi..
Delete the app then reinstall.
Hold the app icon down until all the apps jiggle then tap the x then tap Delete. Press the Home button once or twice to stop the jiggling.
Then go to the iTunes store and re download the app.
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
That should download the most recent version including whatever update was available.
You won't be charged again.

Cannot send email with Palm Treo Pro

Hi,
We have a Palm Treo Pro that was previously configured to sync with exchange 2003 and at the same time also had an IMAP email account setup for another email address. We have since removed the Exchange email account and only have the IMAP account configured. Since removing the exchange account we can no longer send email from the phone, but can receive fine. The error we get when trying to send is listed below.
"The message(s) could not be sent. Check that you have network coverage and that you account information is correct then try sending again"
The connection is fine because we can receive email and browse fine. The account information is also correct. We are using the SMTP server settings for the phones provider and that requires no authentication. I have also tried a different SMTP server with the appropriate user credentials but still get that message.
I have contacted the phone provider (Telstra) but they were no use.
We did have to load on a self signed certificate to get the exchange email working and I dont know whether this is causing any issues.
If anyone has any ideas it would be greatly appreciated

Maybe this will help. If you monitor the "More Like This" box, other threads appear. Opening them usually displays other threads.

Pairing my Palm Treo Pro with my car

I keep trying to pair my treo with my car (bluetooth) and it asks for a code - I have no code so press next - it then says I can't connect incorrect code, but my car system then gives me a code that I enter in - and it says I cannot connect, incorrect code!
I had this problem with my last Treo and then soemone else paired it for me as they had a code from an engineer which allows you then to enter the car code - does anyone know the code? I have tried 0000 and 1234 and 9999 - any suggestions?

As far as I know, Windows Mobile doesn't offer that. I think you will need two accounts set up. One will be sync'd with Outlook for Contacts, Calendar, and Tasks (Email would be optional here). The other would be a standard POP3 account to retrieve and send email in real time. Unfortunately, the Sent Items on that account will not be sync'd to Outlook

You can use the Wireless/Connection Manager to turn different radios (CDMA, wi-fi) on and off. If you tap the connection icon at the top of the home screen, you can access it from there. You might need to turn off your cellular data connection in order to take advantage of wi-fi, but you might want to check the user guide, as it might be the other way around.

Bluetooth code for Palm Treo Pro

I am trying to connect my Palm Treo Pro and the bluetooth hands free on my Mercedes. What is the code to allow authorisation between the phone and car? I have tried to set up from both directions and have tried the standard codes 0000, 1122, 1234 etc and none work. I assumed that so long as the codes matched it didn't matter but this doesn't appear to be the case but I can reauthorise with my old phoen so the problem seems to be with the Pam settings. I can't see how to make the phone discoverable but can see the options to turn on the bluetooth and make visible. The car and phone can find each other but can't seem to handshake. Any suggestions most welcome!

Intermittent Calendar Sync, Outlook 2007, Exchange 2003, Windows Mobile 6, Palm Treo Pro.

We are having a problem with a couple of our devices, one being a Palm Treo Pro.
The users have noticed that some of the calendar appointments they receive are not always updating in either their outlook, or on their device, it is apparently random as to whether it updates to the device and not outlook or vice versa.
That is as much detail as I currently have; I am asking them to supply more observations as I know this doesn't give us alot to go on but thought I would ask in case someone else has experienced similar issues.
The other thing I noticed is that the windows update tool fails to work with the following message: "Connection to the update server not available. Check data connection setting and ensure device date and time are correct."
The date and time are correct (live in the UK) and they can access the internet and emails on the device to connection settings must be working.
Any help would be much appreciated.

ATT data setting for Palm Treo Pro

I can no longer access the internet with my Palm Treo Pro. My service provider is ATT and they were not able to provide me with the data settings. I have searched high and low but haven't been able to find them anywhere - I'd appreciate any help. It is a huge pain only being only to access internet/email at wifi hotspots!

Generically, your current settings should be here:
Start > Settings > Connections tab > Tasks tab > "Manage existing connections"
I am a Sprint customer, so don't know what yours should say. Did they walk you through re-creating your "Modem" connection in this dialog?

Need technical help for Palm Treo Pro

I am currently using a Palm Treo Pro. The handheld keeps turning on Airplane mode automatically when I was talking on the phone. This happens quite frequently but it never happen when I was talking through Bluetooth hand-free.
I called up the local support centre but they simply told me to exchange a new one at DHL station. The problem now still exists with my new handheld. Just wanna know what I should do... Thank you.

Firstly, thanks for your reply.
I have tried to hard reset my device and even exchange a new handheld. The situation remains the same. For the past two days, the same problem occured five time in total.
How can a phone turn on the Airplane Mode automatically during a call? This is really distributing and it is totally unacceptable. I have tried to call the tech centre but no one in there could help me. They just told me to exchange a new one, which I had done before.
Hope someone can help me up.

I don't see a keyboard on the Bluetooth compatibility chart.

Palm Treo Pro Lockup???

Hello, i recently bought a Palm Treo Pro, and its been working fine. Last night i picked it up and the screen went funny,random colours and bars. So i removed the battery cover and soft reset it. When i did that it locked up, so i reset it again, took about 4 resets and then it started working again. (one of them i had removed the battery ) so i was wondering if this was a glitch? hasn't happened since was just wondering if anyone had had this issue.

Problem setting up MobileMe on a new Palm Treo Pro

I have a new Palm Treo Pro, but the performance of my .me account has been quirky at best.
When I set up my .me account on my Palm, all of the mail floods in and populates my mail folders. After that, however, I can't receive any mail. Moreover, I'm not sure if my mail is making it out.

Problem solved. The ipad default is set to IMAP. When I changed it to a POP server, problem solved.

Is there a way to change the texting rington on the Palm Treo Pro to something other than the few items they allow you to choose from.
I want to set Alarm4 as my text alert and it only gives me a few. Alarm4 is allowed in a few other notification options, but not on the text message one. Can I move a default alarm for one time to another item?

I have the 800w, but it's the same version of Windows Mobile, so I think the following might apply to your phone, too.
Alarm4 is a .wma-format file, while the old-style alerts are MIDI format file. I don't know why, but some of the notification drop-downs list both, and some list just MIDI files. But they all list some ring tones that I downloaded from Microsoft. Hmmm...
In File Explorer, my downloaded ring tones are in My Device\Application Data\Sounds. So if you were able to copy Alarm4 into that folder, you might be able to assign it to any notification.
I can't see any way to copy files in File Explorer. You might need to do it through ActiveSync or a third party file manager.
If you experiment with this, let us know how it goes.

You can do this 2 different ways. You can set your Palm Desktop software to sync to Outlook, and then sync your LifeDrive to outlook. You would then be able to just sync the Outlook data to you Treo Pro. The other option would be to purchase Chapura Pocket Copy software, and this will copy the data in the Palm DT application to Outlook. Once again you would just sync your Treo Pro to Outlook. You can get the Pocket Copy application from Chapura.com
