Palm Tungsten data to BB Tour

Want to transfer my Palm Tungsten E data to my BB Tour via the BB Desktop Manager Wizard. It gets up to calendar record 1019/1130 then crashes my PC. Tried getting the latest version of Palm Tungsten E Desktop software, but same problem. Please help before I kill myself! Thanks.

Load Desktop Manager for the BlackBerry on your PC.
From there, use the Switch Device Wizard in DM to move data, contacts, etc., from the Palm to the BB.

  • Sharing Internet with Palm Tungsten T3 via Bluetooth - possible still?

Ok...I know I'm using legacy technology with the Palm Tungsten T3 and it seems that all discussions online that I've found are out of date. Even Missing Sync's Internet Sharing product is discontinued. But I'm running 10.5 on my MacBook Pro...so I would have thought that sharing via Bluetooth PAN would work.
But could be that Bluetooth PAN is something too new for the T3 to handle. So then am I back to using Terminal to run a separate PPP server for the T3? If that's the case...I guess I can try these instructions from 2003 and 2002:

  • Palm Tungsten batteries

    Two Questions
1/ I just got a palm tungsten on eBay. The battery charges OK but tends to loss power very quickly. Palm was on for about half an hour while I was checking things out and about 1/3 power was already gone. It had been on charge for over 7 hours and looked fully charged. Should I buy a new battery and can I install it myself. I saw something in the manual stating that there are no serviceable parts and one should not remove the back.
2/ I have noticed that every time I do a hot sync I am prompted to reset the palm (I think that was the term used) I then get a screen where the calendar has been reset to the first of the year 2003, the time is 12 and I have to reset them. Is there anyway to avoid this?

    1) The battery is not very easily removed, e.g. glued or taped to the main board or panel. You can replace it yourself, though some are more easily removed than others, and you probably will need a special screwdriver.
    2) After every reset, a couple handhelds I have owned reset their date and time, though it is very annoying, it will go away eventually.

  • What to do with Palm Desktop data when I upgrade to Mac OS 10.6 Snow Leopard

I have an old Tungsten handheld device but only use Palm Desktop on my Mac.  I have a lot of data stored in this format and do not want to lose this functionality when I upgrade to Snow Leopard, which, I understand, does not support Palm Desktop.  Ideally, I'd like to export my Palm Desktop data (address book, memos, to do list, and calendar) to another software package that will run on Snow Leopard.  I do not need any syncing capability.  What are  my options?

Are you sure you are doing it correcly?
A hard reset is performed by holding down the power button while sticking something thin (paper clip) into the back reset hole of your device. Keep your hand on the power button while you release the paper clip from the reset hole. The screen will now say "Palm Powered." Take your hand off the power button. You will now see a screen in 5 languages prompting you to erase all data from the palm. The screen will say "erase all data? Yes - up, no - down" and you need to click on the up arrow (silver button on the 5 way navigator on the bottom of the palm). This will erase all the info from your device.

  • Getting my palm OS data onto outlook 2000

Hi- I have recently gotten a Blackberry Pearl for my phone, and I want to move my data (calendar, contacts) from my palm Tungsten T3 over to the blackberry.  I think the only way to do this is through Outlook. However, I have always used the Palm OS desktop software.  How can I move the data into outlook so I can sync my blackberry with it?
    Thanks!

Hello, and Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Easiest way would be to get HotSync working on the Win7 box.  Please follow the directions in this thread we have at the top of the messages in this section.
You'll need to erase the "new" E2 by doing a Hard Reset.
Once you have Synced your old E2 to the PC, do a HotSync with the new erased unit and when asked, "Do you want to Create a new account, or sync to an existing one?" choose Existing and pick the name of the original E2.  Proceed with the HotSync, and the data from the old unit should flow to the new one, and give it the same HotSync account name.
Plan B:   Send the data from one unit to the other via BlueTooth, or Infra Red (Beaming).  Note: Some programs will not be able to be sent due to copyright rules!
Erase the "new" unit via the same Hard Reset, then turn BlueTooth on in both devices.  Pair the two devices.  Pairing the E2.
Each database (like Contacts or Calendar) has the option to either Send (via Bluetooth) or Beam (via Infra-red) the data.  I don't have my Palm devices handy right now, so details are sketchy.
Try the HotSync method first, then if desired we can delve into Sending and Beaming later.

  • ICal and Palm Tungsten E2

I am about to pick up my new IMac from the tech support people and I want to know if I can use my Palm Tungsten E2 with ICal. Where can I find out how to move my Pam files to the new computer? They dont seem to have a clue.

I'm certain that your issue has nothing to do with the SD card you inserted in your device, and likely nothing to do at all with pTunes. The errors indicate a fundamental problem with the Sync Services framework. You can apparently initiate a session, and pull changes, but not complete the remainder of a typical five-step synchronization session.
Take a look at this document for an overview of what should happens when you synchronize:
    http://developer.apple.com/macosx/syncservices.html
You can reset the truth database—a process which will reinitialize the framework and make it appear as though you have never synchronized before—simply by launching iSync, opening the Preferences… dialog and pressing the Reset Sync History button. That will not affect the data stored in any applications, or on any devices or servers, and will not unregister any sync clients. Once you've done that, attempt to synchronize again.

  • Palm Tungsten E2 Fatal Error

My Palm is less than a month old, I've had a Palm Tungsten E before and got good use out of it, but it would no longer hold a charge.  So less than a month ago I bought this new one.  Today, while trying to enter data, I got a Fatal Error and it "reset" on me.  It has gotten to the first Part of the reset with the Palm logo and the word POWERED underneath and then that's where it stays.  It will not let me turn it off!  I've tried a soft reset, I've tried a hard reset, I've tried a "warm reset" I plugged it in to try and recharge the battery, nothing.... it won't turn off, it will not continue to reset.  Now what.  I'm almost to the point of taking it back.

Looks like you need to hard reset.
So I'm guessing here, You were syncing to your old username and that's when the problem occured?
I think you'll need to hard reset and rename the backup folder. (C:/Program File/ Palm or Palmone/*hotsync username*/Backup. Rename it to Old files.

  • Palm Tungsten E2 HELP!!!!!

I have had my Palm Tungsten E2 for years now and have always been able to sync it to my desktop, until recently.  I have Windows Vista and we recently installed a Vista service pack to help speed up our computer and I have since not been able to hotsync.  I downloaded Palm Desktop 6.2, but in the middle of configuring my hotsync preferences my computer gave me the blue screen of death and froze on me.  I tried 3 times to install and configure 6.2 and it did this every time.  When I tried to download Palm Desktop 4.1.4 I got an error message saying it can't be installed on my computer.  Before we installed the Vista service pack I had all my palm information backed up on my hard drive on an earlier version of Palm Desktop (maybe 4.0?), but when I tried to install one of these newer versions it deleted the older version and ALL of my data!  I am freaking out because I depend on my palm for everything and I HAVE to have a backup of my information!  Can anyone help? Please?
    Post relates to: Tungsten E2

Best backup advice is to download a freeware app called NVBackup. Unzip the files to your computer. If you don't already have a SD card for your E2, get one...regular SD (not SDHC) no larger than 2GB. Format it in the E2 using the Card Info app. Then manually copy the NVBackup.prc file you downloaded and unzipped, to the /palm/launcher folder on the card. If your computer doesn't have a SD card reader, you'll need to get one (maybe $10-15). With nvbackup.prc file copied to the card, pop the card into the E2, run NVBackup, and run a backup of your entire E2 to the card. No worries thereafter...set it to run a backup every night (and limit the number of "cycles" to 3 or 4. Post back if you have any questions about how to do any of this.

  • How to copy Palm Desktop data to a PC using Windows 8.1

If like me you still find the Palm Desktop data (address, calendar, memos, etc.) handy and use it long after throwing away the handset and "sync" ability, you may find this useful.  I bought a new PC using Windows 8.1 and had problems transferring data because of a wrinkle that I figured out, which didn't exist in Windows XP, Vista or 7 versions.  Here's a recap of one way to easily transfer data from those earlier versions if you have a USB flash drive (or Dropbox, Google Drive, whatever) handy :
    1) Download Palm Desktop 6.2 or 6.2.2 to your new PC.  Then give a user name exactly as it exists in your old PC's database.  This name will be used by Desktop software to create a six letter folder name (an abbreviated version of your name) to hold data that Palm Desktop will look up.  Wait a few seconds for this to happen, then close the Desktop application on your new PC.
    2) In your old PC from where you want to transfer data, look for the folder called "Palm OS Desktop" which should exist in "Documents" under "Users" folder and subfolders path like >your name subfolder>Documents in Windows 7 (may be Vista too) or may be under "Documents and Setting" folder in Windows XP.
    3) In this folder "Palm OS Desktop" look for that six letter subfolder of your name, and select that entire subfolder and choose "Copy" or Ctrl-C
    4) Locate the same subfolder name in your new PC (which will have null data), delete it, and then "paste" the subfolder you "copied" into the same exact location.  If you've done it right, Viola!  Your new PC desktop should show all the transferred data once you again open the application.
Most of the same procedure works with Windows 8.1 (probably also Windows 8) PCs.  What I found different was that the data subfolder created under "Palm OS Desktop} had 7 instead of 6 characters with a "0" (zero) added as the last character.  So when you finally copy and paste that subfolder into the new PC you have to rename it and add that "0" for the Palm Desktop to locate this data.
    Hope this helps.

  • Need a method for importing Palm III data into a Palm Centro

I just bought a Palm Centro (Verizon), with the expectation of importing data from my old Palm III.  From the Palm III Desktop, I exported Contacts, Calendar, Tasks, and Memos into separate folders (this was done on a Windows XP PC) and copied the resulting folders & files onto a flash drive.  But when I try to import these files into the Palm Centro desktop (on a new Mac Pro with OSX), the backup files are not in a "recognized format."  Does anyone have a process for reliably getting the Palm III data into the Palm Centro?  Also, is there an easy way to purge unwanted Contacts/Calendar events from the Palm Centro handheld?  With all the trial and error, its accumulating a lot of garbage.  Thanks...

  • Syncing Palm Tungsten E2 With MacBook Air

Hello, I have owned a Palm Tungsten E2 since 2005.  I was able to install the Desktop software on windows XP and sync the device with my Windows XP laptop since 2005.  I recently purchased a MAcBook Air and installed the Desktop Software from the CD I purchased in 2005 (it has a Mac version).  It appeared to install OK but when I pressed the sync button on the device nothing happened.  I would appreciate any help on this issue.    Many thanks,

Hi and welcome to the HP Support Community.
Unfortunately, I don't think you have any current options to sync with your new Mac.  Palm Desktop 4.2 ceased Mac compatibility with 10.6 Snow Leopard.  The only alternative used to be a third party app called Missing Sync.  However, it was incompatible with Mac X 10.9 going forward.  Also, it has been discontined as of 12/31/14.
