Palm TX (Categories / Main Palm Desktop)

How do you add programs to different categories.  (add/remove)

Hi, and welcome to the Palm Community Forums.
Tap the clock in the top left corner of the main Application Launcher screen.  Select Category.  From there, you will be able to change any application's category designation.

  • Help - isync doesn`t sync ical-calender task´s to palm task-categories

I am using isync 2.4 and the latest palm-software with a Palm TX.
When I sync ical to the palm, the task will not sync to tasks with a specific category (e.g. @call) at the palm?
Does ical not support categories at palm?
Any solution or hint for that problem would be highly appreciated!

This issue is one of the many long-standing shortcomings of the iSync conduit, and isn't likely to ever be addressed.
You should instead take a look at the Missing Sync for Palm OS which addresses almost all such issues. With an advanced [post Palm OS 5.4] device, it is a virtual necessity.

  • Palm Treo Pro running Palm OS software

I am considering getting a Palm Treo Pro, and the gentleman at the Sprint store told me that they will run both Windows Mobile software and Palm OS software.  Palm's website does not state this and I wanted to confirm this before purchasing.
    Post relates to: Palm TX

And although a program might run correctly in the StyleTap emulator, there is no guarantee any of them will Sync correctly...
The salesman was definitely stretching the truth...

Has a fix in version 6.2 been created for this issue yet?  Or is Palm currently working on one?
Palm doesn't own the software - it was purchased by Access quite some time ago.
I would not expect any future fixes for any PalmOS devices, nor the software associated with it.  Palm is moving on to webOS devices, and away from legacy PalmOS ones.

  • Syncing Palm Vx Handheld to Palm 6.2 Desktop

I've had my Palm Vx for several years and been very happy with it.  Occassionally I upgrade my desktop software by downloading the latest version.   Today I downloaded Palm Desktop 6.2 successfully....I thought.   However, when I do a HotSync it appears to run successfully but address and calendar data on my handheld do not appear in the new desktop software.
I saved my address and datebook folders from my previous desktop and thought I might be able to just move those files into the Palm 6.2 folders.  But I can't find address and datebook file locations in Palm 6.2.
What do I need to do to sync my old handheld to my new desktop?
    Post relates to: Palm Vx

Hello neil_bowers, Welcome to the Palm Support Community.
Version 6.2.2 is not really an upgrade - it was designed to be compatible with Vista and later versions of Windows.  It loses many functions we were used to in versions 4.x of Palm Desktop.  Since Microsoft broke the connection to Quick Install when Vista was created, 6.2.2 was born with a whole new Install program.
If you are using Windows XP, there's no real reason to change.  I'd do a clean uninstall of 6.2.2 and go back to 4.x!
If you are using Vista or Win7, you may need to install a free program from Pimlicosoftware.com called "PalmHotSyncSetup".  This enables 6.2.2 to read old database files from Palm devices.

  • How can I automatically transfer Palm address categories to Address Book?

I've tried vcal export and tab/delimited export and the categorization is lost on the Mac. I also tried setting up the same categories in AB as I have on the Palm. Again, the addresses are NOT imported with the category info.
Is there any way of avoiding having to recategorize all the addresses MANUALLY on the Mac?

if you have never synced conect your iphone and go to the info tab. Select sync contacts with addressbook and hit apply. when prompted select merge and it will merge contacts.

I'm sorry, but you'll need to be much more specific as to what's going on.
    What version of Palm Desktop?
    What version of Windows?
Exactly what's happening?  Error messages, etc.?

  • Main palm memory

I have downloaded a large pdf to the main memory on my e2.  I would like to delete it..but i cant find the file or the application icon (pdf) to access it on my handheld.  Where is the main memory located.
    Post relates to: Tungsten E2

You'll need a File Manager type program to find and delete it.   There are many available free for download - 3xCom, Filez, and File Program are a few that come to mind.
I'm curious as to how you actually got a PDF file to install into RAM.  Did you convert it first with Adobe for Palm on your computer first?  If not, your Palm/Hotsync should have rejected the transfer to RAM...

  • Problem when trying to sync with Palm Centro phone and Palm m500

I just purchased a Palm Centro phone and have had no problem when I try to sync the phone with the Palm software on the computer, however, my wife has an older Palm m500 and all her contacts are on her Palm, but they don't show up on the Palm Desktop software.  Is there something we're doing wrong?  All the dates show up on her desk top and everything in my phone shows up on my desktop, only her contacts are empty.
    Post relates to: Centro (Verizon)

It is likely that your wife's older device (with Legacy two-word PIMs) is incompatible with the Access Desktop/Hotsync for Verizon Centros as I believe it has only the new Extended (one-word) PIM conduits. If you are running XP you might be able to use a download of 4.1.4e. Suggest you search the Hotsync forum to see if the Centro can use this version of Hotsync (I don't have a Centro).

  • Palm 4.1 to Palm 6.2.1

I recently went from an ancient Clie to a Treo 650.  I downloaded the PalmDesktop Software as directed from the Palm website.  I uninstalled the old PalmOS and installed the new Palm 6.2.1.  The website says that the Palm 6.2.1 will fill the desktop with backup files from the older version - it didn't.  When I go to import the files, it won't because the older versions are .DAT and .BAK files and it is asking for .DBA and .VCS files.  I'm sure there is a fix, I just don't know what it is.
Can someone tell me how to get my memo pad and address book from my backup files from Palm 4.1 to my new Palm 6.2.1  Desktop?
    Thanks!!

Were you able to solve the problem? I also am migrating from a Sont Clie and Palm 4.1 on my old XP computer to a Vista computer, which means I have had to install Palm 6.2, but it will not recognize my datebook.dat and address.dat files.  I had hoped to use Palm Desktop with Outlook and be able to synchronise with my Blackberry. Can you help?  abarry, [email protected]

  • Palm Pre and backwards Palm app compatibility? 64 bit OS - Vista or XP Pro -- compatibility -- ?

I am brand new to the board, so please bear with me if these questions have already been addressed elsewhere.
The announcement of the Palm Pre might have just retained me as a Palm loyalist.  I was starting to look at BlackBerries, etc. for my next phone upgrade.  And then along comes the Pre.....which looks to be a Very Good Thing.  However, I have a couple of questions:
    1.  Will the Palm Pre be compatible with the apps that I currently have loaded onto my Palm TX?  Will a simple transfer of apps / data from the TX to the Pre be possible?
    2. Will I be able to sync the Pre with my Vista 64 bit laptop, or with my XP Pro 64 bit desktop?  Or does the Pre still lack 64 bit compatibility?  (Man, I hope that it will "do" 64 bit........)
To anyone who knows -- thanks.
    Post relates to: Palm TX

Thank you for the responses in both cases, smkranz.  It's greatly appreciated.
Yes -- my Palm TX has served me well for a few years.  It's still functioning quite nicely.  However, I'd hate to have to manually re-enter all of the data that's stored in it into another device.  Plus I wouldn't want to give up several of the apps that I have installed on that device.
IMO, in many ways the TX 'anticipated' the Pre -- rotating screen (albeit manually set), and a list of other features.  Heh -- but these days, if a device is six months old -- then it's yesterday's news.  ;-)  The TX is a circa 2005 era device, IIRC.  So it's an ancient historical relic in today's world.  But I still like it.  A lot.  Few electronic devices that I've ever had the pleasure of owning have been as useful to me as the TX has.  That's why I hated the idea of switching brands......but I didn't see much choice, until now.  The Pre looks to be a real shot in the arm for Palm.  And for my continuing to use Palm's devices into the future.  The BlackBerry Strom was a real disappointment.  And I don't like iPhones.  But I don't think that the Pre is going to disappoint.  If the device lives up to its promise: then I think that we'll have a top-notch winner on our hands.  A great replacement for my venerable TX.
Heh -- the first thing that I loved about the TX was the ability to download & read ebooks while traveling.  One TX in the pocket is a lot easier to carry around than a suitcase full of hardback novels.  The Pre looks to take that 'convenience factor' to a whole 'nother level..........
Now......if only I can get the legacy Palm OS apps to work with it, and it syncs up with my 64 bit PC's: then everything will be right with the world.........
    Thanks again for the help.

  • I NEED HELP PLEASE! Palm Tungsten E2 versus Palm Pixi

I LOVED my Tungsten E2:, but I accidentally stepped on it, plus it didn't seem to be compatible with Windows 7.  I can't afford an expensive PDA and have been considering the Palm Pixi as both my cell phone and PDA.
I've been online all over the web trying to find out what I think would be simple answers, but can't seem to find them.  I want to make sure that the Palm Pixi will fit my needs like the Tungsten did.  I LOVED the calender function, To Do function, notes, etc.  Basically, everything that I used to use with a paper planner I want to do with the Palm Pixi (as I did with my Tungsten E2).  I'm actually not that concerned about internet connection, music player, etc.  I just need the organization!  And if I get a decent phone out of that AND music, internet, etc., that will just be gravy.  But I DO want the Documents to Go function.  Also, can I Hotsync to my computer's desktop?
Can anyone answer this question for me?  Thanks so much!

The webOS Calendar, Contacts and Tasks functions are much different than the old Palm OS functionality.  Some folks like them better, some not.  There will be an adjustment, no question about it.  Only thing I can suggest is that you give a Pixi a trial run and if you don't like the way it works, return it with the 30-day return period most providers have.
But I DO want the Documents to Go function.
Documents To Go that comes with webOS devices is a read-only application, i.e. it cannot edit or create docs on the handheld.  Moreover, Dataviz (the developer of Documents To Go) has ceased development of its webOS application.  However, it has been announced that QuickOffice will be providing its own Office-compatible application as part of webOS 2.0, which will be upgradable to a version with editing capabilities as well.
