Palm TX conversion to the new Palm Prer Plus

I am anticipating the purchase of the new Palm Pre Plus phone from Verizon. Does anyone know if I can transfer my Palm TX data to the Phone?  Also, Is the phone Bluetooth compatible to synch to my internal car phone system?
Post relates to: Palm TX

Hi, and welcome to the Palm Support Community.
Your question regarding migration of data from your TX to the Pre Plus is answered in several threads in the Synergy board.  Check the two top "stickied" threads about moving your data, and desktop synchronization with either Palm Desktop or M$ Outlook.
Also, since that issue is the main Subject of your post, I will move this thread into that Synergy board.

  • Calendar issue with the new iphone 6 plus

I'm wondering if anyone is experiencing a problem with the default iphone calendar for iphone 6 plus?  I have consulted with apple's tech specialist both in store and online and they can't seem to figure out what's wrong.   They have apparently forwarded the issue to the engineers.  As everyone may know, dots appear under the date if you have added an event to the specific calendar date then the elaboration of the specific event appears on the bottom linear view.  What i have been experiencing on my iphone 6 plus is that the dots disappear as i scroll further and further down to future months and when i do scroll back up the dots also randomly disappears with past months/events.  The elaborated event in the linear view is still there, however, when u highlight the date.  Why is that? We've already rebooted my phone, checked all possible settings issue, unsync then resynced it to icloud, resigned to icloud, reset all settings and even changed to a new phone (thinking it was a hardware defect) but the dots were still disappearing even with the new device.  I even turned off icloud on all my devices and just used the usb cord to sync it from imac to iphone! This nightmare is still happening even without icloud! However, it doesn't do that to my iphone 5! All dots with corresponding events appear on all weeks/months on my iphone 5 calendar.
Hopefully, someone is experiencing the same issue with their default calendar on the new iphone 6 plus.    I tried my best to describe the issue, so i hope this made sense.

M glad I'm not the only one experiencing this!  Because when i spoke to apple techs it sounded like mine was an isolated case as they have not heard any complaints about this! I'll post something on this thread once apple techs have figured it out and get back to me! They initially put my icloud account on troubleshooting mode so they can look into it, however, it wasn't an icloud issue....so, they have yet to firgure it out!  I have already sent them screenshots of what my calendar was doing to my phone.

Hi all, I've done some research to see how I can transfer the calendar and the contacts on my PalmOne Zire31 to my new Palm Pre and find PocketCopy from Chapuro to help do that without loosing the info on the PalmZire 31. You will need to sync your handheld to Palm desktop to make sure the data in Palm desktop is current. Download and install Palm desktop 6.2, you need this version for the Palm Data Transfer Assistant tool. Here is the link; http://kb.palm.com/wps/portal/kb/common/article/32859_en.html
Setup a gmail account for your data.  You have 3 options for your data transfer, transfer to the palm profile, exchange server account or Gmail. The palm profile has experienced some data loss issues at this point so I would highly recommend using gmail.
Go to this link and download the Data Transfer Assistant; http://www.palm.com/us/support/downloads/pre/migration/moveontophone.html
Select to sync with your gmail account.
For reference purposes, click on the following link for the support page for your device on the kb.palm.com webpage.

There are links on the page to the user guide, troubleshooting, how to's, downloads, etc.

  • Anyone Know When The New Zen V Plus is Coming O

    The title is self-explanatory. Anyone?

It might take some time until retail stores have the V Plus in stock. Usually when a product is very new and in high demand it is typically iniatilly available only over the internet. It takes a while until the supply is great enough to stock retail stores with inventory.

  • THE ULTIMATE PALM PRE POOR SIGNAL ISSUE THREAD

The previous thread I posted can be deleted.  This thread has everything people need to read.  Here is the conversation I just had with Palm about the rampant signal problems everyone is having with their Palm Pre phones (side note, they say they'll be calling me back in a few days.  I'll assume they mean BUSINESS days and i'll post here again tuesday or wednesday if I don't hear from anyone.) :
    1:56 AM Connecting...
1:56 AM Connected. A support representative will be with you shortly.
1:57 AM Support session established with Sabino.
1:57 AM Sabino: Hello David. Thank you for contacting Palm. My name is Sabino.
    1:57 AM David Doria: hi
1:58 AM Sabino: I understand that you are facing issues with weak signals.
1:58 AM Sabino: Am I correct?
1:58 AM David Doria: yes.  weak, and also erractic.  sometimes i will get full bars, and then it will jump to one bar, or none...then be roaming, then Ev, then 1x...all in the SAME spot
1:58 AM Sabino: I’m sorry for any trouble this may have caused.
1:58 AM Sabino: May I know since how long you are facing this issue?
1:59 AM David Doria: as long as i've been using a palm pre, but it is getting worse with time.  i've been using a palm pre since october of last year
2:00 AM Sabino:  Let me know the webOS version on the device and your carrier name.
2:01 AM David Doria: whatever the latest OS is.  1.4.whatever.  and i'm with sprint
2:01 AM Sabino: This seems to be the issue with the network, all the network related issues were taken care by your carrier. I suggest you to contact Sprint. They will be able to fix the issue.
2:01 AM David Doria: um, you said that before i even told you what carrier i'm using
2:01 AM Sabino: I just pulled the details using your phone number.
2:02 AM David Doria: you know that isn't true.  you know it's not sprint
2:02 AM David Doria: i just told you all my other phones with sprint worked fine here and i've only been having problems since i got a palm pre
2:02 AM Sabino: Okay, contact your carrier, they will be able to fix the issue.
2:02 AM David Doria: i've lived here for 4 years and i've had sprint all 4 years
2:02 AM David Doria: no they won't.  i've been contacting them for weeks.  they came out and checked the tower TWICE now.  there's nothing they can do.  it's a hardware issue for palm
2:04 AM David Doria: there are threads all over the internet with hundreds of people complaining about having signal issues ONLY since they bought a palm pre.  now you're telling me it's a sprint issue and you haven't even looked at my phone yet.
2:05 AM Sabino:  What I would like to do, is place your case into a special team that develops technical solutions. They will do further research on it. They would be in touch with you once they have further updates. I cannot commit to a specific callback period, but please know that we are working on your case. May I do that for you?
2:06 AM David Doria: no, because i saw someone in one thread say that palm told them the exact same thing...in 2009
2:06 AM David Doria: so you're basically saying you're forwarding the problem to a generic department to a generic person that i can't know the name of, with no contact info, and that there is no guarantee when they will contact me IF they even will contact me...but i should definitely believe they are working on the problem
2:06 AM Sabino: What exactly you want me to do now?
2:06 AM David Doria: that's ridiculous
2:07 AM David Doria: i want you to tell me why palm is not fixing this problem with the palm pre and is instead telling me it is sprint's problem and then pretending to forward the issue to another department which has already had years to fix the issue
2:08 AM Sabino: As I stated, all the network related issues are taken by carrier.
2:09 AM David Doria: it's a hardware issue
2:10 AM Sabino:  I am going to tell you about our 2 repair options:
    2:10 AM Sabino:
    1.  Repair return: After I create your service repair order, you receive an email with the details on how and where to ship your device for repair. The email also contains info on the follow-up process. After the repair center receives your device, you’ll receive a working device in another 5-7 business days.
    2. :”With the advance exchange option, we ship you a replacement device first, and then you return your defective device to us using a prepaid label. There is a $29.95 fee for this special service but you get a replacement device within 3-5 days.
2:10 AM David Doria: you can't even KNOW it's a network issue without looking at the phone, and all evidence points to hardware since other phones on the same carrier work fine
2:10 AM Sabino: Please go through the above 2 options.
2:10 AM David Doria: this is my SEVENTH palm pre phone, sabino
2:11 AM David Doria: as many others in forums will tell you, they have also replaced their phones MULTIPLE times hoping to fix this issue.  nothing works.  there is SOMETHING physically wrong with the reception capability of the palm pre
2:12 AM David Doria: dude, stop copying and pasting what palm tells you to say and listen to me.  these phones do NOT work.  there is something majorly wrong with them and palm is cheating people out of hundreds of dollars a piece to save themselves the cost of a fix.
2:13 AM Sabino: Please hold on while I transfer the chat to our Supervisor.
2:13 AM David Doria: thank you
    2:13 AM Sabino: You’re welcome.

2:15 AM Saben: Please stay on hold while I go through the chat.
2:15 AM David Doria: hello, saben...i urge you to read the conversation i just had with sabino so i do not have to explain the situation again.
2:15 AM David Doria: ok, thank you
2:15 AM Saben: Thank you for staying on hold.
    2:16 AM David Doria: sure
2:16 AM Saben: I understand that you are facing network issues with the phone.
2:16 AM Saben: Am I correct?
    2:16 AM David Doria: no
2:16 AM David Doria: i am facing signal issues.  my network is functioning just fine
    2:16 AM Saben: Okay.
2:16 AM Saben: Did you try any troubleshooting steps?
2:17 AM David Doria: yes.  i reset my phone...tried NEW phones...updated...updated PRL...etc...tried 2G only, restarting the phone after removing the battery, tried going outside...tried going a few blocks down.
2:17 AM David Doria: i can't even count how many things i have tried.  something is wrong with the palm pre
2:18 AM Saben: Did you try with the webOS doctor?
2:18 AM David Doria: i've tried every software solution i can find
2:19 AM Saben: I am sorry, I just want to know did you run the webOS doctor tool?
2:19 AM David Doria: i've been talking to sprint about this for WEEKS now.  in case you didn't read the conversation, they've already come out to check the local tower twice now
2:20 AM Saben: Okay. It seems that you did not use the webOS doctor tool on the device to check the issue.
2:20 AM David Doria: yes.  the local sprint repair center used the tool when my phone froze during an update
2:20 AM David Doria: yes i did
2:20 AM Saben: Okay. Thank you for the information.
2:20 AM David Doria: you're welcome
2:20 AM Saben: Then it seems need a repair.
2:20 AM David Doria: but this is my 7th palm pre phone.
2:20 AM David Doria: they have all done this
2:22 AM Saben: Okay. To best assist you I will escalate the issue to specialist team. They will call back you and find a resolution.
2:22 AM David Doria: are you guaranteeing me that they will call?
2:22 AM David Doria: because the last guy said someone MAY contact me but probably not

Post relates to: Pre p100eww (Sprint)

So they finally called me back, but I didn't get the call because.....I had no signal.  HAHA
I got their voicemail and called back.  First, they tried telling me YET AGAIN that it was Sprint's problem.  They said that if I call Sprint, they will give me a device to boost signal in my home.  I said, "That's fine, but what do I do when I'm in the rest of the country?"  Then they told me it was a software problem and that I need to run WebOSdoctor to reinstall the operating system.  I told them that this is my 7th Palm Pre.  I told them that Sprint already used the Doctor...like I told the online tech people.  But this guy on the phone wasn't having it.  He told me that he didn't think Sprint was able to do that (so I can, but Sprint can't =/?) and that I should do it just to be sure.  He said if that doesn't work that they will try out a NEW Palm profile and see if that fixes it.  If neither of those works, he basically admitted there are no other options.
I asked him if there is some sort of way they can physically upgrade the antenna system with a better material or placement and he said that Palm has no department able to do that.
I told him about the various threads online like this one, where dozens of people complain about the same  issue.  He told me to just do the WebOSdoctor and call him back.   I asked him if this has fixed signal problems for people previously and he said that he doesn't get to know the end result of his suggestions to customers.   How unprofessional is that?  How is the guy supposed to get better at his job if he's not allowed to find out if the fixes he suggest to people actually work?  That seems nuts to me, but i digress.
I haven't tried the Doctor yet.  I'm going to, but I'm just being lazy because I know it won't work, and it's going to be really annoying to update my phone and backup photos first and all that good stuff.
I will post back after I run the doctor and try the new Palm profile.  Until then, I'd REALLY suggest you all do what I did and call Palm, insisting they fix the problem, even if it means a recall.  They aren't gonna do it just for me, no matter how many times I complain.  That's a fact.
If anyone DOES call Palm, it would probably be a good idea to bring up this thread and also to post here about what they tell you!

  • Just bought new Palm and not sure how to set it up best to sync

I just bought a new Palm TX. The manual says to connect the sync cable to palm and to computer usb port and connect a/c adapter to palm and an outlet and charge for 3 hrs which I'm getting ready to do. Before I start setting up my whole system I to am trying to determine a couple of things first.
Based on all forums I've read today, I want to use the missing sync with ical and address book rather than palm desktop. I also plan to sync using bluetooth rather than usb. (My goal plan is to use this set up to digitally implement kgtd - so the categories issue is key for me).
Thus I wonder, is there any reason to insert the palm desktop software cd and/or install isync palm conduit. It seems missing sync 5.x replaces isync palm conduit and installation of the missing sync will remove the isync palm conduit anyway.
Is there anything I will possibly miss with palm functionalities if I don't use that CD first and then switch to missing sync? Are there any pros or cons to loading isync palm conduit and Palm hotsync software and then switching almost immediately to missing synch with ical and address book. I guess what I'm wondering is, are there anything from the CD that I need or downloads or updates that I initially need to get that I can't get without new palm software installed initially rather than only having the missing sync installed.
On the other hand, are there benefits in immediately installing missing sync and not bothering with mucking things up with the new isync palm conduit and palm hotsync being on my system.
I seem to have isync 2.3 automatically from 10.4.8. I am afraid to, at least initially, upgrade to 10.4.9 given the many problems that seem to be reported from the upgrade regarding syncing and I have very little in ical or address book as of yet and an old palm desktop 4.2.1 that I haaven't used in over a year. I am not interested at this point in transfering anything from the old palm desktop (not so much there either and none of it current) although would be interested in (unless told it could cause other problems for me or be in any way suboptimal) keeping it as a sort of archive.
Also, why do I need to connect the USB port while doing the initial charge if the plan is to use bluetooth? Any pros or cons in doing/ not doing this - both using bluetooth and connecting the USB cable during the initial charge?
Any guidance on some or all of these things would be greatly appreciated.

    iBookG4   Mac OS X (10.4.8)   palm tx

    Welcome to Apple Discussions.
Great questions, and we'll attack them one at a time.
Q: '…is there any reason to insert the Palm Desktop software CD and install the iSync Palm Conduit?'
A: Actually, yes - there is. Mark/Space very strongly recommends that you perform one last synchronization event with the Address Book and iCal using iSync and the iSync Palm Conduit prior to installing and configuring the Missing Sync. It is therefore necessary that you synchronize using iSync and the iSync Palm Conduit at least once prior to your initial use of the Missing Sync for Palm OS, and iSync and the iSync Palm Conduit require that the HotSync Manager and Transport Monitor—components of the Palm Desktop—be installed in order for iSync to launch, supervise and terminate a synchronization session with a Palm device.
Q: '… are there benefits in immediately installing the Missing Sync and not bothering with… …the new iSync Palm Conduit and Palm HotSync…'
A: No. It is critical that you overwrite the contents of your Palm device with data from the Address Book and iCal during the first synchronization event with the Missing Sync for Palm OS. Absolutely critical. Users who skip this required step always end up with synchronization problems later. In order to do that, you have to have first equalized the contents of the Address Book and iCal with the contents of your Palm device. Otherwise, you'll be overwriting the device with empty record sets. The easiest way to equalize them is to synchronize at least once using iSync and the iSync Palm Conduit. Because the iSync Palm Conduit does not support categories, all field labels and extended attributes supported by both the Missing Sync for Palm OS and your device, you'll have some record cleanup tasks to perform as a result. But, don't skip that initial device overwrite requirement, or you'll put your data at serious risk and only spend much more time later on cleaning up the resulting mess.
Q: 'I am afraid to, at least initially, upgrade to 10.4.9…'
A: Don't be, though it makes little difference if you apply update before initiating the iSync synchronization, or afterward. You indicated that you have an old copy of Palm Desktop installed which you haven't used for more than a year. If that copy is not as recent as the once bundled on your CD-ROM, then install the CD-ROM copy. If they are the same version, or are different versions but neither are Palm Desktop 4.2.1 revision D, then download and install that package before configuring and using iSync. The package is available here:
    http://www.palm.com/us/support/macintosh/macdesk421revd.html
If you aren't sure, then install this downloadable package, as it can only improve and not damage your currently installed Palm Desktop configuration.
Q: '…why do I need to connect the USB port while doing the initial charge if the plan is to use Bluetooth?'
You don't, although your device can obviously only charge with a USB-powered cable or cradle, or an AC adapter-powered cradle. I recommend that you initially configure it to synchronize via USB with both iSync and then with the Missing Sync for Palm OS, and then pair it using Bluetooth and synchronize using that pathway if you wish. Remember two things: while Bluetooth may be more convenient, USB moves substantially greater data in a shorter period of time—important during slow, initial synchronization events—and, the Missing Sync for Palm OS also supports network synchronization with your T|X, using it's WiFi capability. Initially using USB, later reconfiguring for Bluetooth and then for WiFi gives you literally one-button choices when using the Missing Sync for Palm OS.
    In summary, you ought to…
    • update the Palm Desktop suite to 4.2.1 revision D using the downloadable package
    • add your device to iSync via USB using the Enable Palm OS Syncing… option under the iSync Devices menu
    • be sure to change the label of any contact address you want synchronized to <home>, as iSync ignores addresses not labeled that way
    • merge the data in the Address Book and iCal with your Palm Device
    • back up the Address Book data using the Back up Address Book… option in that application
    • back up your iCal data using the Back up Database… option in that application
    • install and configure the Missing Sync for Palm OS
    • set your three Mark/Space conduits initially to overwrite your handheld with data from your computer
    • synchronize initially via USB and include the TimeCopy conduit in this effort
    • follow the Bluetooth wizard instructions in the Missing Sync to pair your device and add the Bluetooth option
    • follow the network wizard instructions enable WiFi synchronization
    • create sets of conduits appropriate for your workflow, and associate them with an interface: USB, Bluetooth or network
    • correct your handheld data to reflect address data field label changes, calendar and contact categories, and so on
    • synchronize again via any chose interface to propagate the corrected data

  • Migrating from a Plam T E2 to a 'New' Palm T E2 ?

Ok - working on another plan . . . I have several reconditioned Palm Tungston E2's that I bought off Amazon . . . and am having trouble syncing to the 'new' Palm.  The Palms are the exact same hardware - all Tungston E2's.
The instructions on the HP/Palm web site say to install the software that came with the handheld 'because the E2 has code that the handheld needs' or something to that effect.  I don't know if that's the 'specific hand held' or the T E2 series.  I did it with one unit several months ago and it worked but was a lot of gymnastics.
I tried it again, to migrate to yet a 'newer' handheld and could not get it to work - and nor would my 'current' one sync anymore either - on a Vista PC.  However, I hooked the 'current one up via USB to my old XP PC which had at least year-old data left on it and it sync'd beautifully!
Can anyone tell me if I have to re-install the software from the disk - really?  OR could I just do a 'Desktop Overwrites Handheld" to the newer handheld?  One thing . . . maybe I have to run the disk in order to put the user name on the new hand held.  I tried that (on he Vista) & after a couple of times not working the software would not even let me access the 'hardware set up' section to name the new hand held.  And the new handheld did not get the user name added to it and it would no longer even connect with the Vista.
Any idea what I'm doing wrong?  I would love to just uninstall everything on the desktop & reinstall Palm Desktop 6.22 from the HP web site & start over   . . . & do a hand held overwrites desktop . . but I'm not sure if this will work either.
I guess my real preference at this point would be to run the old Windows XP machine I have so I can use Documents To Go  Version 8 (which works with the T E2) and with the Palm Desktop (and of course Pimlical's DateBook 6).  But I need to get my user name & data onto the 'new' E2.   I have the mose current Palm Desktop aready on this XP machine. Again, I have followed instructions from the HP website to do just this on the Vista . . . but there is something (that I am) missing!
Thanks in advance for help!!  Deb

We are not priviledged to ANY other knowledge of the Pre!  We can't tell you what we don't know.  The Palm CSR's here are not privvy either, and many times legally cannot divulge future plans of Palm Inc., nor have they gotten "hands-on" time with the Pre yet.
I am a longtime user of Palm products myself, not an employee of Palm, and enjoy trying to help others with their Palm-related problems.  I'm betting apps will be written to transfer years of Palm data to the new device.
"We don't know" does not mean "NO it will never work".  It just means all the details are not out yet, and software authors may be writing apps as we type that will do what you wish.
Palm is very tight-lipped with their new products.   I'm sure more details will emerge as the arrival date gets closer, and software authors complete their projects.

  • NEW PALM TREO PRO - WinOS or PalmOS?

--Originally under practice board. I found out the practice board was being deleted/ updated regularly--
    Hello,
I've been a loyal palm user for the past 7 years. The reason being is that I LOVE the functionality of PALM OS.  So my question is.. why use Windows mobile?! Is it because you are targeting corporate america and most of the users use Windows? I think the reason why Palm has been so successful in the past (well to me.. that is) is because you are different. Everyone is loving the iphone but i still think it lacks the functionality that the treo pro has (like video capture).
I don't like WINDOWS! I want the treo pro to be able to sync to my Mac! Windows is so unstable. You must be saying to yourself, well this guy doesn't know what he's talking about. Windows has been around for awhile and it provides users end to end applications. Well I am a bioinformatician and i have used many different applications and operating systems. I think one of the best mobile OS out there is Palm. So do not be afraid that the majority of consumers prefer windows mobile rather than palm. The main reason is that most haven't been exposed to the OS and hasn't given it a chance to grow on themselves. Palm OS will be the new mac in mobile technology. Develop the Palm OS and make the necessary upgrades and your company will grow just like apple did. Mac has been the major use for most universities and corporate offices. So please, as a PALM company... you need to market PALM OS. You are already in the lead because your competition (blackberry) doesn't even have their own OS.
    I hate windows.
    Your friend,
    mac and palm addict.
    UPDATE:
Sorry but I have to voice my concerns about the Windows Mobile OS on the new Treo Pro.
    Please go here: http://blog.palm.com/palm/2008/08/meet-the-treo-p.html
There are a lot of Palm Users who prefer PalmOS. So why not make your current customers happy? Obviously, the happier your current customers will be the more we will advertise (by word of mouth) and gloat to our competitors that our device is more proficient. Which will in turn lead to new users who are targeted to buying the treo because of PalmOS. (Quality and loyal customers you will have )
I would just like to know other members' opinions on this and who would prefer a palmOS over a WinOS.  So please give me your feedback.
Post relates to: Treo 680 (Unlocked GSM)

I have been a loyal Palm user for the last 8 years, my first device was a monochrome model Vx. Those were the days when you carried the PDA in one hand and the cel phone on the other. I have upgrated my hardware since then, from the Vx to my current 680, passing through models like the Tungsten T and the 650. When Palm PDA´s evolved to smartphones and I got my 650 it was, gadgetwise, the happiest days of my life.
Meanwhile other brands and models made their appearence in the smartphone market but I always remained a faithfull user of Palm. I've had the 680 for over a year now, and have been expecting the release of a newer model based on Palm OS.
Recently I heard that Palm is to discontinue their OS and stick to Windows Mobile. One of the main reasons is the inability to make Wi-Fi and GPS run integrated on a Palm OS driven device, which is actually one of their biggest con's. Those news, if true, are sad and very disapointing.
Right now I am evaluating if my next device will be a Blackberry or a Windows Mobile smartphone. The only issue with RIM is that is not touchscreen, a big flaw, although apparently they are to release a touchscreen device by next year. HTC is launching a device that runs on Google's new Linux based Android. I've seen the the announcement of the lattest Treo Pro and it looks prettty cool, though a little expensive. If Palm OS is no longer to be available then Palm devices are not longer a must for me either. Better said, I don´t think I'll ever want to hear of Palm if they discontinue (which also means to stop developing and enhancing) Palm OS.
I still can't believe I'm bound to go through the painful and disturbing process of migrating and getting used to a different OS. Palm DeskTop is always the first to start on my Windows laptop. I wish Palm had the courage and the ethics to clarify these rumors and their intention so we can start taking action, it would help them redeem for their detraction.

  • Palm Operating System 4.1 compatable new palm unit

It's time to replace my old palm pilot. I want a new palm that will allow me to transfer all my current data to the new unit. Which one(s) will accommodate this?
    Post relates to: Palm Pilot

Hi, and welcome to the Palm Community Forums.
Any new Palm OS handheld (Z22, E2 or TX) or SmartPhone will do it very easily.  You install the new Palm Desktop software right on top of your existing installation.  It will recognize the existing installation and migrate your data.  Just be sure you follow the Upgrade Guide's easy instructions to rename the Backup folder on your desktop.  This thread discusses the upgrade procedure and links you to the Upgrade Guide:

  • Is Palm Zire 21 Software compatible with Palm Pre Plus Cell Phone?

I have an older Palm Zire 21. I love all the features. However, now I am trying to consolidate my Windows (vista) Calendar with my Palm and it is not compatible. I thought I would purchase the newer Palm Pre plus Cell Phone in order to have all of my contacts and calendars on my phone as well as my laptop. Though no one can seem to answer my question: Can I import my contact and calendar from my Zire 21 to the Palm Pre Plus?
Many thanks to who can answer this for me. I greatly appreciate your time and assistant.

webOS (the new Operating System) from Palm does not natively sync to your computer, but to the "cloud" (online servers).
Palm offers a program that will read your Palm Desktop information, and transfer it to Google.  This is only a one-time transfer, and not a sync solution.  See this thread.

  • I want to open the iphone text message inbox without opening the new text message

I just want to know if there is a way that I can open my text message "inbox" without haivng to open a new text message that I have.  I used to have a droid. When I clicked on the message icon, it would open to the full inbox, just not the conversation with the new text message.  I want to know if there is a way I can do this with my iPhone as well.

When I tap on the Messages icon, it opens up Messages to the last state in which I left it. If I left in the Inbox view, that's what it opens in. If I left it in a particular thread, that's what it opens in. So, just make sure that you leave it in the Inbox view.
If you access Messages from a notification, it will take you to the new message.

  • Recover photos taken before Setting Up the New iphone from restoring from the old back up

I got my new iphone 6 plus today and took some great and precious photos with it before I got home and get ready to transfer my old files from the old iphone 5.
Then when the iphone 5 back up is done, I was over excited.
When I connects the new iphone 6 plus, itune asked to start as a new phone or to restore from previous back ups.
then I selected restore without remembering that I already took some precious photos with it.
I can hardly see my friends that I took the photo with.
    OMG...I want these photos back.
Is there anyway that I can get those photos back?!!!

Sorry, but if the data from your new iPhone6 did not get backed up before you restored it from the backup of the iPhone 5, your data is gone.
Check iTunes/Edit/Preferences/Devices if there is any backup for the iPhone6 listed. All backups should have a time stamp, backups you used to restore from will not be overwritten and the content will remain the same.
If there is no backup, your photo data is gone.

  • Can my backup of my IPHONE 4 ver 7.1.2 be used to restore back to my new IPHONE 6 plus IOS 8?

I will be purchasing the new IPHONE 6 plus tomorrow.
Can my Iphone 4 (not s) be backed up under IOS 7.1.2 and be restored to my new IPHONE 6 plus?
Or do I need to backup IPHONE 4
    Upgrade to IOS 8
Backup IPHONE 4 with IOS 8
then restore IPHONE 6+ from the last backup of the IPHONE 4 IOS backup?
    thanks   Lou

but the opposite isnt possible sady!
I just sold my iPhone 5s and waiting 4 weeks now for my iPhone 6+
I took out my old iPhone 4 and tried to restore it from a backup i had just created a few hours ago on my 5s (iOS8) and the option was greyed out.
I could only see backups from a year back !
You cant restore an iPhone 4 with iOS 7.1.2 from a backup created on iOS 8 !!!!
    That's so STUPID!
iCloud syncs my contacts, calendars and reminders, but i have to setup all the rest of the settings manually! I have 7 email accounts, mix of gmail, hotrmail, yahoo, 2 exchange, others, etc. lots of personalized settings, Apps that i need to download again and arrange in folders like before, ......big hassle!!!
It shouldn't be that tough Apple!
