PaLM TX Question

I am trying to delete software that I loaded to my Palm Tx. Everyone says to go to menu and app then delete but I don't have a specific menu screen that comes up. When I turn on device it automatically goes into an "all screen with icons starting with quick tour and addit,calc., calender etc. Not sure if this has anything to do with it but I tried using the disk but when I put it in my MacBook NOTHING happens??? Do I need to load something from it specifically to use device? It seems to be syncing fine and everything else on it works. PLEASE HELP!

Hi jhenn23 and thanks for understanding that you can get more answers from others when posting on the forum.
Sometimes, when you click on the home button twice, you will be brought to a different screen listing Applications, Photos&Videos etc. Just by clicking on the home button once more or by clicking on Applications, you should be brought to the correct screen where you will be able to access the regular delete button under apps (on the top left where the current time is displayed).

UPGRADING TO PALM TX QUESTIONS

My company currentely uses serveral old Palms SPT1800 Palm OS v4.1 we use them for our company shows that we have through out the Country to scan our item barcodes and take orders and have them printed out so our customers have a copy of there order. We would like to upgrade to something faster like the Palm TX. With these old Palms we use the Infrared Reader on our printers HP 4050's. We use a third party software called ALO. My question is this will it process much faster, does it come equipted with the BarCode scanner and do we need to purchase newer printers with bluetooth technology?

I'll be glad to answer your questions for you. The Palm TX does support Infared (IR) technology. I don't think it will be much faster or anything seeing how IR is a slow method of transferring data or connected devices. It may be a more updated version of IR but I don't think it will be that much faster. This kind of answers another question you had; you won't have to upgrade to bluetooth printers. If you do however, the TX does support Bluetooth and Bluetooth is faster than IR.
The Palm TX unfortunately does not have a barcode scanner on them. You can probably purchase a 3rd party add on for it but this cannot be supported by Palm. If you have any questions about bar code scanners for Palm devices you will want to seek 3rd party assistance.
I hope this helps and let me know if you have any other questions or concerns. The Palm TX is a great device by the way, I'm sure you guys would love it.

How can I ask palm a question and actually get a response?

Anyone know? I just want to talk to someone and find out if they are ever going to update their Facebook app. The version they have out now is so crippled...

I have no clue but can you tell me how to ask a question on this post-wall-forum thing? I can't even get to that point.
All I want to know is if my tungsten T2 is antiquated respective to the E2 that I lost. I bought the T2 as a replacement by accident on eBay (mistype - who would have thunk that these guys would have made two model names so similar?). So I just assumed that it was the same model and now I'm afraid to sync it for fear that it will hose my PC data.

Why is the pre only on sprint?
does palm have a deal with them or something b/c if that is the case then i understand other wise i think they should have some other providers as well.

Palm Profile Question

I have palm profile and a google profile - my palm profile only has a few contacts in it .... and I would like to get rid of it but I dont know how to figure out which ones are the palm profile contacts...any ideas?

If you go into the individual contact and tap on the picture (or the person icon where a picture would go) then it will show you which account it's filed in (or multiple accounts if they've been "linked". Unfortunately, I believe 'that's the only way ... I don't see any way to sort or hide contacts based on account or see the account in the list of contacts.

Palm TX does a soft reset when I tap on memos

I am new to posting on this forum. My Palm TX does a soft reset when I tap on memos or push the button I have set to memos. I also have had several soft resets occur after tuning the my palm on from the On/Off button. I have had Palms for the last 10 years. Never had this problem. The only problem I had was the On/Off button on The TX failed as a result this is my 3rd TX in the last 4 years. Any suggestions welcome. I was behind on syncing and my last sync was done about 1 week before this problem occurred. I really do not want to do a hard reset. This problem has been going on for a month. Can I just do an unistall/reinstall without loosing any info?

This question has been asked and answered many times here... Somehow, the memos database has become corrupt on the device. There are two ways to fix this:
1. First, open Palm Desktop and go up to Tools/Options/Tools Tab and click the Check Records button. Let it look for corrupt records, and if none are found then a simple fix is to set your HotSync Manager setting for the Memos app to "Desktop overwrites Handheld" for one operation.
If using Palm Desktop 4.x, change the conduit here: Click on your HotSync Manager icon in the tool tray, and select "Custom". Make sure your HotSync Account name is showing in the top window, then highlight the Memos app and click the "Change" button. Click the selection for "Desktop Overwrites Handheld" and click "Done". (DO NOT select the "Set as Default" box!) Now do a HotSync. Since you didn't select "Set As Default" it will only do the overwrite for one operation, then default back to "Synchronize".
If using Palm Desktop 6.2.x, change the conduit here: Click on the HotSync Manager icon in the tool tray, and select "Settings". Make sure your HotSync Account name is showing in the top center window, then click the "Applications" link in the left column. Check the box for "Show Details", Highlight the application you wish to change, then click the "Configure" button. Click the bullet for "Desktop Overwrites Handheld" and DO NOT select the "Set as Default" box. Now do a HotSync. Since you didn't select "Set As Default" it will only do the overwrite for one operation, then default back to "Synchronize".
Check to see if the HotSync completes without errors, and your Memos application is back to normal.
2. If the above does not fix the problem, then download and install "DBFixit" from Pimlico Software: http://www.pimlicosoftware.com/dbfixit.htm The program will search your device for errors, and fix some for free. Others may require the purchase of a registration code, with the funds going to an animal rescue non-profit (Gorilla Haven).

Palm maim and windows Vista

I have Palm M500 and window vista 32. I downloaded 6.2 because I lost the software. Will not syronize(sp). Do I need to download a driver.

Error when I Hotsync

When I HotSync I always have an error to back up file. It says Pm Trace Database: Protocol Error; Handheld file could
not be opened (4004) SYNCERR_FILE_NOT_OPEN
Can someone help me with what this means and how to fix

If you have a Palm OS device (Z22, E, E2, TX, some Treos, and older devices) and are not using Exchange ActiveSync, your question belongs in a different section of the Forum.
If you are using Palm Desktop (or Access Desktop for Vista) to hold all your data, your question belongs in either the Windows HotSync section or Mac HotSync.

Hot Sync undo?

Folks,
Is there any way to restore info that was on a device prior to a hot sync? I can elaborate further as necessary. Suffice it say, Hotsync was set to syncronize on the Calendar and memo portions of the db and the PC changed the device's info. Any thoughts?

The question is had you synced previously?
If the data you need to recover only existed then sadly the data is gone. If it existed on the PC prior to this last sync then we may be able to recover it.

ISync/Palm Zire 21 question

Please forgive me if this has been answered. I searched the board and don't see my question answered.
Palm Zire 21: for the first 3 days, everything was fine except everytime I did an iSync, I had to reset the Palm (change the date, fix the time, etc.). I do not use, and hope I don't need to use, the Palm Desktop software.
I have Hot Sync 3.2 (Enabled) and iSync 2.3 (Palm Sync Enabled).
In an attempt to fix this/start from scratch, I got the following message: "In order for iSync to work properly with your Palm OS device, the following HotSync conduits need to be disabled.
Address
Calendar
Contacts
Datebook
etc.
After hitting "OK", those conduits no longer show up in the HotSync>Conduit Settings window (they are all in the Disabled Conduits folder now)
Now iCal and To Do lists sync just fine, but no addresses show up in Palm AND I have to RESET every single time.
Can you please help me understand why this would be so? What is markspace.com and do I need to get the "missing sync" there?

Something clearly isn't right. Likely several things, actually.
The contents of your active Conduits folder show no conduit conflicts. A couple of thoughts, though…
You should move the Memo, Memos, Note Pad, Photos and Voice Memo temporarily to the Disabled Conduits folder to eliminate the possibility that any of these (maybe extraneous) Palm conduits are the root of the reset problem. The result will be that your Palm memos will no longer synchronize with the Palm Desktop, but that can be restored by moving the later Memos conduit back into the active folder. If the reset problem is no longer apparent when these conduits are not active, then one issue may be resolved.
Open the HotSync Manager application on your Macintosh and check to see that the following conditions are true:
• HotSync is set to Enabled in the HotSync Controls tab, and
• USB is checked in the Connection Settings tab
What does your HotSync log—as opposed to the iSync log—say about these events?
Have you configured the synchronization parameters for your device in iSync by pressing the device icon labeled with your HotSync name to drop down a pane in which you select various contact and calendaring options? Are both Contacts and Calendars enabled?
When you say, "… the only thing that's now uploading to my Palm is my To Do list" are you sure that in fact, it is to do and not memo information that is being transfered? I ask, because with the iSync Palm Conduit, to do or task data is synchronized by it with iCal, whereas there is no provision in iSync to synchronize memos. And, if iCal task data works, one has to wonder why event data does not synchronize…

File extension naming control. Hotsync vs palm Desktop (db or mdb that is the question :-))

I have been using a m125 for years now its time to upgrade. I am going to a treo 750.
I downloaded the current palm desktops(6.2.2) and hotsyncs (7.0.2) When i sy\nc with hotsync, it wants to make files with a "db" extension. When i edit files with the desktop it wants to use files with an "mdb" extension. I have to manualy rename the files back and forth in order to achieve sync.
question: is there a way to control which extension is used?. ive searched the registry with no joy.

Not to be ungrateful--but I must conclude that the only source of comprehensive information would be to dig into the source code. Not likely to occur!
good news, the problem is Possibly Solved:
Yesterday I reverse-engineered the save-to location by making a single new entry in the blank recordless address book, saving that, exiting, and doing a global DOS search of the hard disk for a file of any name with that date and time.
Turns out Palm Desktop saved it to a new user name directory it created itself (where I hadn't been looking because I assumed it would be under MY user name) AND gave that saved file the name Unfiled.mdb, whereas I was looking for address.* on the first bunch of tries. Double whammy: different folder, unpredictable file name.
So I deleted the bogus user name, imported an early-july backup copy of the address book (address.bak), and saved THAT out of desktop. NOW it appears as a 3-Mb address.mdb file under the proper user name. And it's looking hopeful: if I exit desktop, then re-run the program, the 2000-entry address book comes up without further ado. Later I will screw up my courage and try to sync with my Tunsten.
Over the long term, I will be easing out of the Windows and Palm universe--I have too many other things to do than [for brevity and compaint reduction, this essay condensed by author to "that-sort-of-thing."]

HP had their webOS event Wednesday and the word is that the Pre 2 will be available for pre-order on Verizon today (Feb 10). I am certainly interested, but I have a question:
Will the Mobile Hotspot feature be free like it is on the Pre Plus?

Another 'old keyboard with new Palm' question

I have seen the posts about non-compatibility between older keyboards and newer Palms - mine is a slightly different question.
I have a Palm keyboard P10713U, which was designed to connect to the M100 etc. series of PDAs. I'm thinking of trading up to a Z22, and I was wondering whether anyone had sucessfully modified this keyboard to work with a mini-USB plug, and whether a keybaord plugged into the USB port would actually be recognised by a Z22.
This keyboard is well outside it's warranty, so I'd be happy to take a chance with it.
Any DIYers out there care to comment?

as far as i know, nobody every attempted to modify the connectors of any palm branded keyboard as they are just having simple connectors like bluetooth, IR or docking style keyboard. since z22 is using a mini USB connector and doesn't have bluetooth capability, the only way it can connect to a keyboard is via IR. if there is a keyboard that uses a mini USB connector, it can possibly run in z22 provided it has the necessary drivers that can run on palm OS.
