Palm TX won't complete sync

I am using Vista Home (32bit); Outlook 2007; and Palm Desktop 6.2.2.  Palm OS Garnet v5.4.9
When I try to hotsync to Outlook, it starts off nicely, but then quickly bogs down.  It hasn't completed a hotsync yet.  Hangs up in the contacts.  Last attempt, it took over 9 hours to get through most of the 800 or so contacts.
It Hotsyncs OK to Palm Desktop (in about 1 minute), but I need the Outlook functionality for my job.
I've tried going back to Outlook 2003, with the same results.  Seems to be something with Vista.  Everything works OK with XP.
Any ideas on the issue or what to try next.  Trying to avoid rebuilding the computer with XP.
Thanks
Steve

this is seems to be file corruption that causes the sync to behave this way.
it is always seen when you sync in vista via palm desktop 6.2 from previous computer.
all you need to do is download the file or application called dbfixit. just click the link http://www.pimlicosoftware.com/dbfixit.htm
use this for the hanging on the contacts during hotsync. to install the program, you need to set the the 4 PIM's: calendar, contacts, tasks and memos to do nothing in the hotsync manager so it won't hang up during hotsync. in the 6.2, all you need to do is to uncheck those PIM's mentioned. launch install tool and add the PRC file then load the application via hotsync. once you are done with hotsync, locate the file after the hotsync and run it in your device. it will fix the corruption because it will detect all the corrupt records inside. just follow the onscreen instructions. after you're done, you run the hotsync again. however you need to set back the PIM's to handheld overwrites desktop and then proceed with the sync.

  • My iPad 2 won't complete syncing

My iPad 2 won't complete syncing. It gets to step 5 (waiting for items to copy) and won't get past that step. I have tried deleting iTunes and reloading? Any other suggestions?

I am a Mac users and I assume that you are a Windows user. I know next to nothing about Windows - maybe even less than next to nothing, if that's possible.
These may be of some help.
Turn Windows Firewall on or off - Microsoft Windows Help
Disable antivirus software - Windows - Microsoft
These are simply temporary steps that you want to take and you want to be sure to turn the firewall and the anti virus software on again after you try this. Furthermore this may not work at all, it's just a troubleshooting step to see if iTunes is able to communicate now with the Apple servers to download the safe browsing data and complete the sync.

  • ITunes won't complete sync with iPhone or iPad....freezes at contacts

Using iTunes 10.5.3.3 on a Windows 7 OS to sync my iPhone 4S and iPad 2 (both with OS 5.0.1). This is my 3rd iPhone and 2nd iPad, so I'm not new to this. No problems until a few days ago. Now, both devices sit at the syncing contacts screen, and won't ever finish.
    Here's what I've tried:
obviously, restarting iTunes (as well as PC)
    restarting devices
    deleting backups
    resetting sync history
replacing contacts & calendar on next sync
(PC is up-to-date with Windows Update)
Still the same. Not only will it not complete sync, but the calendar entires are all duplicated+++ now on the devices, when they are still correct entries in Microsoft Office Outlook 2007.
This is SOOOOO frustrating. Besides wiping devices and starting again (which I don't really want to do), anyone have any suggestions?

Is your phone hacked? Have you tried restarting your computer and your iPhone? I have found that a majority of problems that happen with iPhone can be solved with a simple reset.
For iPhone to iTunes, you can refer to this page about [iPhone/iPod/iPad to computer or iTunes|http://www.softwarebbs.com/wiki/IPod/iPhone/iPadTo_Computer_Transfer_%26_Backup_SoftwareReviews].
It includes the transferring of music, photos, videos, SMS, Contact ect. between iPod/iPhone/iPad and computer(PC or Mac).

  • IPhone 4 won't complete sync since iOS 5.0

My unlocked iPhone 4 wont completely sync with iTunes since I have upgraded to iOS 5.0.
USB & Wi-Fi sync both produce same results.
It gets stuck in "step 8 of 8" forever

I struggled with my computer and itunes not recognizing my phone for a week and here's what i finally found that worked for me.
if you have windows go to http://www.microsoft.com/windows/compatibility/windows-7/en-us/Search.aspx?l=en- us&s=apple&page=2&type=Hardware and download the Apple Iphone 4 hardware.
then, if it doesn't automatically take you here, go to http://support.apple.com/kb/DL926
    and download that.
Let me know if it works for you.

  • Palm TX won't hot sync via wifi, but will surf the internet via wifi

My Palm TX will hotsync with Windows XP via USB only. I cannot get a wifi hotsync. I can get on my wireless home network and surf the net, but I cannot hotsync to my computer through my wireless home network.
I've tried everything I can think of. I cannot find my computer on my TX during a Hotsync search with the Firewall on, or off. I've hard reset my TX, I've hard reset and wiped my TX. I've entered my Computer name into the TX manually and I've entered the IP address of my computer. Nothing..... It does a USB sync just fine. I've checked to make sure TCP/IP connection was turned on in the Palm Desktop software . . . it just won't sync via wifi.
    Using:
    Windows XP home
    Palm Desktop 6.2
Palm TX: with original OS and original Hotsync
    ...help?

Ditto that, though until about a week ago I could sync my TX via Wi-Fi without problems. Now it doesn't get past the initial screen, then the error that I should check my connections, etc. I want this back so I'm gonna work on it.

  • IPhone 5 stuck at step 7 - won't complete sync

All of a sudden, my ring tones are gone. I rebooted my phone, plugged it into my Macbook Pro (all updates are completed). Quit out of iTunes and re-opened it. Tried to syc ring tones, and phone. But iTunes gets stuck at step 7. It spins for HOURS until I get frustrated and unplug it. I have over 5GB still available.
    This is SO frustrating!
I've seen that lots of people have this problem, but haven't found any solution. Hope you have one before I throw both of them out the window and buy a PC! (just kidding)
    MANYthanks-

This whole thing is an absolute nightmare! My ipod (touch-5) hasn't updated properly in months. Finally went to the Apple store and was told this is a very common problem. The tech person helping me said she really struggles trying to get her iphone 6 to update itunes. She said the only thing that works for her is to uninstall itunes. I did that. Took hours. Then spent a few hours making sure everything in the itunes library was perfect for syncing and added the new things I wanted to sync. I figured I'd only get one good sync out of this process. FAILED! Hung for hours at Step 7 of 7 ('waiting for changes to be applied) AND, as always, no changes were applied.
Tech said they keep letting Apple know they need to fix itunes, but nothing happens. So very frustrated. And, so much money wasted on an expensive ipod (won't have an iphone ever again).
What's better for listening to podcasts and music?

  • Computer USB port drains battery, won't complete sync'ing.

Lately I've had a problem where, when I connect the iPhone to the computer to update the podcasts, etc., it drains the battery rather than charge it. In addition, the sync process never completes. Plug the iPhone into a standalone charger and the battery charges OK. I've done a 'restore' twice, but am still having the same problem. The USB port is powered OK since I can connect it to an axillary battery (same cable) and it charges properly. One more note, a few seconds after connecting the iPhone, the little battery icon changes from 'charging' to 'charged'. Any ideas?

Okay, umm.. Just installed iOS 8.1, when it finished; my computer recognized it. But then it suddenly just started frantically beeping(Windows Connect/Disconnect bleeps). Moved it to a new port, and it no longer detects it. Moved it back to the original port, and will no longer detect it..

  • IPhone won't complete sync

i just replaced my iPhone 4 with another.
The new device is about 2 weeks old and has started acting a bit funny - i think
I'm using the latest update IOS 5.1
When i sync, the function wont complete even though all of the information appears to have transfered.
I'm also finding that the volume/ status bar in iTunes goes back to 0 and then jumps back to where it shoud be - very strange
    Any ideas?

I had this problem, it turned out to be a problem with the Photo's database for me.
Basically iTunes creates a cache in your photo directory called "iPod Photo Cache" delete this and then re-sync, you should find it then reindex's your photo's and then rebuilds the database.
let me know if this helps..?

  • ITunes Unresponsive (frozen), or won't complete sync

G4 TiBook, 10.4.9 completely up to date. My original iPod (same model) wouldn't keep a charge; Apple replaced it under extended warrantee in 2006. The iPod plays, charges fine from the AC adaptor, but when I connect it to the Mac, iTunes become unresponsive most of the time, and I cannot completely force quit iTunes (it disappears from Activity Monitor, but it is still marked as open in the Dock, and the entire system becomes sluggish. I have to manually disconnect the iPod or firewire cable to get it to fully quit. I have been able to Restore the iPod software twice (once got an unknown error 1418), and was able to sync the music from Mac to iPod once, but only after numerous failed attempts (it would get a few tunes synched, but get no further). Prior to getting sync to work fully, I removed: com.apple.iTunes.plist, com.apple.iPod.plist, com.apple.iTunesHelper.plist. I'm not sure if that had any bearing on the finaly successful sync.
I've spent hours on this, rebooting, etc. Any ideas on what could be wrong, and any plists I might want to remove? I'm plugged directly into the only firewire port on the Mac directly. Firewire seems fine in general.

I moved the iPod and dock to a different Mac (an Intel MBP), plugged it in, got an error (apologies, don't know for sure if it was a 1418 or other, but some kind of 'can't recognize error'), Restored and synched with this other computer's iTunes library. I'll try back on the tibook tonight and report.

  • Upgraded to Outlook 2007 and now my iPhone won't complete sync

My company just upgraded to Office 2007 and ever since I have been unable to complete a sync. I am syncing via USB/iTunes because my company does not support iPhones. I have read countless articles and try most of the fixes (as an end user I am limited in what changes I can make). Can anybody help me. I desperately need to be able to sync my work calendar with my iPhone.
    Operating System: Windows XP (SP3)
    Syncing Mechanism: USB through iTunes
    iPhone: Original
Error: It seems the syncing is getting hung up (Will say "syncing calendars with Renee's iPhone" for hours.

If you are unable to update your iPhone and it isn't being recognized by iTunes on your Mac, you may find the following articles helpful:

  • ITunes 9.0.2 won't complete sync to iTouch

I just installed iTunes 9.0.2. How do I go back to 9.0.1 which worked fine until this bug is fixed?
I plug in my iTouch. iTunes "backs it up", updates new apps, and then says that it's 'syncing' but fails to sync iCal, photos, podcasts, etc. I gave it long enough to fully charge the iTouch (from less than 10%). Nada. iTunes 9.0.1 sync'd just fine.

If your MacBook is running Mac OS X 10.4 as your profile indicates, you cannot install iTunes 10 on it. The system requirements for both your iPhone 4 and iTunes 10 clearly state that you need Mac OS X 10.5.8 or later. You'll need to upgrade your MacBook to at least 10.5.8, though I'd suggest going to Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard so you aren't faced with yet another upgrade in the not-too-distant future.
    Regards.

  • ATV in Itunes won't stop syncing...

ATV still works but when Sync started this day it has been going on for an hour and won't complete sync????!!!
What's the solution? preferences? delete ATV from Itunes and reapply?

Tech support came through for me on this issue...
    Go to this link

Restart the ATV per the link instructions and run diagnostics then restart. Sync should return to normal as mine did....

  • My iPhone 5 won't complete the sync with my PC...

my iPhone 5 won't complete the sync with my PC, says "waiting for items to copy (step 6 of 6)".  have left the PC and phone connected for up to 15 hours one time, and the status never changes.

I figure it out. Somehow, in my Advanced settings, password was somehow "de-selected" as my Authentication setting in Incoming Selections. I re-selected it, and now everything is back to normal...

  • Mobile account won't complete setup, initial sync won't complete.

I'm trying to setup a mobile account but it won't complete the sync process on the client MacBook Pro. Both the server and the MacBook Pro are running 10.5.5.
When I login to client it prompts me to create a Mobile account and proceeds with the sync to create the account, but when the sync is complete it just logs in with the default account setup. None of the user files or settings (desktop image, preferences, etc) appear. The sync process says "Checking..." for all the files that supposedly get copied to the client, but it looks like it doesn't complete.
Is there a way of knowing what the problem is? Is there an issue with the user's home directory, some file that prevents the sync and mobile home creation from completing?
    Thanks.

Forgot about getting this problem solved.
The user account that had this trouble had a copy of his home directory from a laptop in his home directory. This backup had it's own Library folder which was confusing the Mobile account sync process.
When I removed the backup home directory, the initial sync went fine.

Music on my iPhone has become very difficult to edit since upgrading to 5.0.1.  If I simply want to delete some songs, it insists on a complete sync cycle after EACH one I delete.  This is so annoying… (I have over 400 Christmas songs I won't need until next year) I have also noticed it randomly keeps updating album artwork…adding more time to each sync.  Is there some way I can turn off the syncing until I have picked and deleted all the songs I want?

The cause was probably a USB glitch during a sync or when copying. The music resides on the phone in separate files. A master file contains a database with an index to the music, an entry for each track and a "pointer" to the file containing the track. Somehow the index got corrupted with duplicate entries. It's likely that the music itself wasn't duplicated, but some tracks had more than one entry in the database. I've seen this happen when syncing (rather than manually managing) also. In my case deleting the track from the Music tab in iTunes, syncing, then adding it back fixed it.
A related problem I've seen is an album may be split, with some tracks in each of 2 or more album entries in the listing. Fixed the same way.
